Cowboys vs Aliens...I didn't hate it. This is actually a film that I really enjoyed. I thought the characters were well-acted. The story, while completely mental, was followable and enjoyable. Very good special effects and the dialogue was well written. It's not a perfect film by any means, but such a low score on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic is unwarranted in my opinion. (Also, the head of homocide from L.A Noire is in it, with his damn incomprehensible accent. You think he's Scottish, then Irish. Then he goes boyo and it's back to square 1 again...) |

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 7.5/10. Good film, but nothing special for me. Lacked wow factor. Worth a watch though. |

movies I saw this week Jin-Roh -again not what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised (great twist really) 9/10 Perfect Blue - watching this movie made me ashamed of being a male, but the end was kind of rushed and ruined it a bit 7.5/10 Nausicaa - one of my new favorite Ghilbli movies (well it's not really but it was done by Miyazaki and it made the studio happens o it counts in my book) 9.5/10 |

So..I saw Limitless last night...that movie...definitely not one of the best movies I've seen. BUT BRADLEY COOPER'S EYES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL...*SIGHH* but overall, the movie probably got a 6/10 on my scale...I really didn't like it that much. |

I have a hard on for Jeffrey Combs for the time being so I'm only watching films with him in them (though I have no desire to watch the one my avi is screen capped from). Re-animator - 9/10. Funny AND gory, what's not to like! The Frighteners - 7/10. Holy shit, not seen it in so long I forgot how insane it was. EDIT: Bride of Re-animator - 6/10 Beyond Re-animator - 6/10 Both as ridiclously awesome as the first but sadly not as funny. The characters are still amazing though 8D |

Contagion: 7/10 The hyperlink cinema format can feel a bit plot-dry/disjointed, but it doesn't play fast and loose with the science, it has emotional moments that aren't overwrought, and the homeopathy-peddling quack character gets served. Hard Boiled 10/10. Seriously, I love this film. It is THE quintessential Hong kong action movie, and manages to be better than Killers. Also, it helps that Chow Yun-fat is awesoooooooome! |

Honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen, definitely the best movie of the year. Kirsten Dunst is incredible, as is Charlottes Gainsborough and Keifer Sutherland. 9/10 Lars Von Trier continues his genius |

I love Antichrist but I can totally get not wanting to see something like that again. So, no Melancholia is much different from Antichrist, the bits that are painful to watch are more painful because of the social and emotional pain as well as the dramatic irony. |

So my family and I decided to rent two movies over the weekend on a whim: Thor: 8.5/10 The campiness, the fight scenes, the hilarity... I had a lot of fun watching this movie. I mean, maybe I've just got lowered standards for superhero movies, but I really, legitimately enjoyed watching this whole movie. I spent the entire time with a big goofy smile on my face. Thor is so adorkable; his hammyness knows no mortal bounds. "THIS DRINK, I like it. *smash* ANOTHER." The love interest seemed a bit pushed into the story, but for some reason the love interests in these Marvel movies (that lead up to the Avengers) never get on my nerves. I thought Loki was a brilliant character, and the score was quite nice~ X-men: First Class: 8/10 I've never watched any of the X-men movies besides the Origins one for Wolverine. Weird, right? I've watched parts and for some reason just couldn't sit through them. I never read the comics either, so most of my X-men knowledge stems from the cartoon. That said, I really enjoyed this movie too. I saw these practically back-to-back so it was a little jarring to go from the mystical world of Asgard to a concentration camp, but I really got to sympathize for Magneto here. Also, Professor Xavier has a lovely head of hair. I mourn for it D8 |

Winnie The Pooh (2011)- 9/10. Such a cute movie. I love Pooh, so I couldn't pass this one up. The animation was GORGEOUS and Craig Ferguson playing Owl was amazing. There was actually a lot of fourth wall breaking in this, which made me laugh. Overall, this was a good movie, but it was a little on the short side. |

Puss in Boots- 7/10. I had mixed views about this Shrek spinoff, unsure where exactly they would go with this. I would be fine with it if it is just Puss, and no one else from Shrek. And it was, so I could breath easily. The story was pretty predictable on where it would head. It had a few chuckle moments for me, mostly with Humpty. In all, it's a decent kids movie, but not the best I've seen. Its great for the family. |

Paranormal Activity 2 - 7/10 Not as good as the first one, in my opinion. I really think that the drug abuse videos I've watched this past two-three weeks were better than it. And that really says quite a bit. |

In Time: Justin Timberlake's not bad and could actually work as an offbeat action star, but the movie itself is just so hilariously bad. It has a super good premise: Once you turn 25 your time starts counting down on a digital timer on your arm. If it runs out, you die. But if you keep your time up, you will never age and you can theoretically live forever. (this is how they can pass Olivia Wilde off as Justin Timberlake's mom) So time is literally money. It's currency for everything and earning "money" is the only way to keep alive. However, the movie pretty much craps on an interesting premise pretty quickly. TIME PUNS. TIME PUNS EVERYWHERE. TIME TIME TIME TIME. The police are called timekeepers. The gangsters are called minutemen. The bank is called the timeshare. Different sectors separating the rich from the poor are called time zones. The wealthiest city is called New Greenwich. Dying means you've "timed out". The acting isn't bad (except for the rich people. ALL of the rich people.) and it looks pretty and they have nice cars, but the writing and directing is just so laughable. Especially amusing is watching the main girl running everywhere in heels. SHE RUNS OVER ROOFTOPS IN HEELS. By the time the main characters become Time Robin Hoods I just started considering this movie a comedy and had a great time. So I'd say 5/10, but totally watch it if you want a movie to make fun of. Plus it looks pretty slick. |
