Suprised there is no topic of it. It's such a great anime! Mark spoilers and let's start the discussion!

...

...

Maes Hughes rules.

Amen! Mae Hughes does rule! I've watched both Japanese and English versions of the anime and I gotta say imo that this was one of the best anime dubs that I have seen in a while! Especially with Hughes' voice of course! My favorite homunculi outta the seven would no doubt have to be Greed! He just seems to be surrounded be coolness.

It's an awful anime, honestly. The moment it stopped being faithful to the manga (about halfway through) and started on its own accord is when it really fell apart.

They begin defying the laws of alchemy, making up new rules, ruining the characters, and don't get me started on the movie.

The manga is still going well, but all of the constant Ishbal flashbacks, as of late, are really annoying me. I'm quite sick of it. Yes. Ishbal. Bad things happened. Now get on with it.

Also, Manga!Envy is absolutely positively awesome.

While I enjoyed the anime, I had mixed feelings towards it during the end. While some things were done right, the plot was really beginning to unravel. As for the movie, I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to; I received the DVD as a gift, so I might as well.

As for the manga, I haven't read it, but I hear good things about it, especially regarding the plot. I might check it out, after I catch up on some other manga I want to read.

Post subject:  Re: Fullmetal Alchemist *Spoilers in Post*

SPOILERS IN THIS POST!

I enjoyed the Anime for almost the whole series. But once it got to the point of the return of Ed and Al's father, it became confusing and boring.

I also have to still get the movie as I have the entire series on tape. The only thing I know about movie the is that Huges is a Nazi. Not Cool! :Zenny

The Manga is good but I'm starting to get the feeling that they are just drag it out a bit much until their next plot twist. I have all the volumes up to 12 and I'm just wait a little while until I get the money for 13 and 14.

Also, Has one here read the 3 spin-offish novels? I have read all 3 of them and I wish they would make more. Larry

While I absolutely love the anime, there are some horribly overrated characters in it.

The manga is awesome, and I enjoyed the movie for its humor. However, I enjoy the plot of the manga much more than the anime. They should have stuck to the manga plot.

Post subject:  Re: Fullmetal Alchemist

I wish they would have too, but that would have meant loads of fillers since each new chapter takes one month to come out. So we either get what we got, or get stuck with a filler filled FMA. It would be nice if they turned the manga into an anime once the manga is completed.

Like most people here, I prefer the manga to the animé due to the fact that the latter stopped being faithful to the former halfway through. Regardless, the animé has had it's moments outside of the manga, and the movie was done well enough...

True, and what's worse is the fact that said overrated characters are involved in the most unorthodox of pairings, i.e., Ed x Envy, which, in my opinion, not only borders on the WTF-worthy, but also serves as a damn conglomeration of incest, necrophilia, and yaoi. No offense to supporters. :/

Post subject:  Re: Fullmetal Alchemist

Back when I started the anime, I really liked it. Then later when it got to the point where it split off from the manga, it felt really weird to me, even before I knew that it was splitting from the original story. The Anime version of Wrath was very annoying to me and I felt like he was a walking plothole and the secret of the Gate of Alchemy makes so much more sense in the manga than in the anime.

I do find the recent reveal of Pride in the manga to be pretty funny because of what happened to the character in the anime...
Spoiler: Manga Chapter 70 and the final episodes of the anime
Anime Pride Bradley, who is Wrath in the manga, killed his adopted son in one of the final episodes. Just recently it was revealed that Pride in the manga is Bradley's adopted son Selim! So, in a way, Pride killed Pride in the anime. :godot:

Oh, and something I wanted to add because I still find it funny:
Spoiler: Scar's elder brother in the anime
In the anime, Scar's older brother lost his er... sexual reproductive organs to bring Lust back, yet it took all of Al's body and Ed's arm and leg to bring back their mother. So holy freakin' crap, man. Maybe that's why Lust liked him.

Probably my most favorite sceness of the show is whenever Mae Hughes is bragging about his daughter and whenever Ed has been called short and he goes into those little rampages.

Alphonse is a little cutie. :edgy:

Hey, has anyone else noticed this?

A volume of FMA is released every two months.
A new chapter is released every month.
There are four chapters to a volume.

Eventually, we're gonna catch up, and then what?

I had heard rumors that they may do an animated movie on the FMA manga once the manga is done, but I'm not so sure.

I like to see that done.

Is it possible to make a live-action movie or show out of it?

Same here! I wonder who would be good enough to play each role.

I figured out one: Alex Louis Armstrong = Jesse Ventura. XD

The Anime was pretty decent, in my opinion...even though it did go downhill towards the end of the series. I also agree with the fact that the Manga is waaaaaaay better than the Anime, in terms of how the story is carried out.

So Pride turns out to be Bradley's son, Salim.

The manga just took eighty steps left from the anime.

I adored the anime. I used to watch it religiously when it aired on Adult Swim. :edgy: Although the manga is so much better.

Oh and Vic Mignogna rocks my socks. I actually got to talk to him before he went in to record the last episode. :maya:

By slow, I meant, downloading two chapters at a time is retarded when you can torrent.

But I still hold by my "buy from bookstore" thing. I'm a patient person and waiting for Nana to slowly dribble out, while annoying, is doable for me.
