So my mom was watching some Perry Mason DVDs today (for those of you who don't know, Perry Mason is a TV show from Ye Olden Days) and I noticed some similarities between its titular character and our dear Phoenix. First things first, Perry was a defense attorney who always believed in his client's innocence--that's an obvious parallel to Nick. :phoenix:
Spoiler: Case 2-4 and some Perry Mason episode spoilers
And also, Perry only had one guilty client (and, subsequently, lost only one case) in his whole career, just like how Phoenix's only guilty client was :enguard!: .

And, both their names even begin with P! Coincidence? I think not.

I haven't done any research on Perry Mason, but there's probably other similarities as well. And, according to my mom, it was a very famous show, so maybe the creators of PW got their inspiration from it. But, if not, Perry and Phoenix are probably the same person, then!

:udgy:: For the charge of being Perry Mason in disguise, the court hereby find the defendant, Mr. Phoenix Wright...

:guilty:

:keiko:: This lil' bit of deduction was brought to you by Yuki.

i think its a coincidence
after all its honorable to trust your own client ...no good guy wants to defend a rapist or a murderer
and he wasnt the only guilty defendant of feenie
Spoiler: gs 1-gs 3
some other defendants were guilty of doing something bad too e.g. lana skye, iris
allthough noone of them was accused of murder

and for the name thing: its the most obvious coincidence of all

It was my rabid love of shows like Perry Mason that got me to buy Phoeinx Wright:JFA in the first place :)

It's just an easy design to have a noble lawyer who believes in his client all the time as the main character. Also, lots of shows have ridiculously happy endings.

I've always thought they should have a case on Phoenix Wright or Perry Mason where they get the guy innocent and find out he was guilty. Or maybe they already know it, but they just can't prove it.
