I want to tackle some epic book this summer since I finished up reading the Godfather and need another good long book for work. I'm wondering "romance of the three kingdoms", "gensomaden saiyuki", "Miyamoto Musashi", "Water margin/outlaws of the marsh", or "Dream of the red chamber/the story of the stone." Anyone read any of these? If you can't tell I'm interested in Chinese literature and well takehiko inoue's vagabond was amazingly good so I threw in Musashi for good measure.

I've never heard of them, but if you're open to suggestions Chuck Palahniuk is a great author, my favorite. (On a side note, he wrote the book Fight Club which was turned into a movie)

I know it's a teenage book, and not Chinese literature, but Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman is an amazing book. The sequels are a bit meh, but Noughts & Crosses is very good. And if you got all of them, it would be an epic book, right? :edgy:

From the Chinese books I would go for Journey to the West. It's the funniest and most diverse books. Outlaws of the Marsh is good too, but I didn't like Three Kingdoms that much, being more realistic than the other books.

If you like the Chinese mythological fantasy novels, don't forget Feng Shan Yan Yi / Creation of the Gods!

I read this book called Ender's Game this year and it is now my favorite book. Here's a link about it.
