I didn't see any existing threads on this, so I went ahead and made this one.

Series info here. Basically it's about a 12-year old boy named Rikuo who is 1/4 yokai and is the candidate for 3rd Commander of the Nura Family, which is composed of "yokai yakuza". Personally, I'm not a very big fan of manga and anime (read: I usually HATE them), but this series really got me hooked. I'm a sucker for Japanese mythology, see, so Nura really appealed to me once I got to watching a few episodes.

Is anybody else a fan here? I prefer the second season (Sennen Makyou / Demon Capital) to the first since it's much more serious in tone and the characters and story are more endearing. I do miss the lightheartedness of the first season from time to time, though. The first season also had brighter-colored animation, if I remember correctly.

I'd say my favorite character is Tsurara (Yuki-Onna), followed closely by Gyuuki. Favorite villain would definitely have to be Hagoromo-Gitsune.



The manga was recently axed from Shounen Jump due to low ratings, but thankfully the series was already drawing close to its end anyways. Nura has two remaining chapters: the penultimate chapter to be released in October and the final one to be released in December.
