Its because both Oda and Mashima were trained under Akira Toriyama. So Mashima needed a good manga ever since Rave Master ended so basicially he took Oda's ideas and used it to make Fairy tail and his ideas from Rave Master

That's completely false. Neither Oda or Mashima worked under Toriyama. They were both inspired by his work, but I imagine a lot of current shounen series manga-ka were.
