Saw it last week and it is the BEST film I've seen this year so far (better than Harry Potter and Pirates) and I'm wondering what anyone else thinks of it.

I wrote this about it earlier, actually...

"I saw the Simpsons Movie the other day. It was pretty funny, I have to admit. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that some of the jokes were absolutely hilarious, if only for their magnificent timing. I laughed when Homer flipped the bird--repeatedly--to everyone as he disappeared into the sinkhole. XD

It didn't have a lot of action per se, but it was filled with the same Simpsonesque charm that some of us have come to love, and that others of us have grown tired of. It's like an extended episode of the 22-minute show that appears on our TV screens on a regular basis, so you needn't worry about the setting being too alien or the plot being too ridiculous (hey, after the episode Gump Roast, nothing these guys can do will ever faze me). The animation is a little different, however: CGI is called into play more often, so if you've ever watched Futurama, you'll have a very good idea of what I mean.

All in all, I'd say it was a good movie, one which stayed true to the Simpsons formula. As I said, It was like watching a super-long episode of the show, so if you're expecting something epic from this but you're not a fan of the TV series...better not see this one. I think I'm probably not going to watch it again at the cinema. It might make a good Christmas gift for a family member, though...."

The Simpsons Movie was unexpectedly great! I thought it was going to be full of tired humour and lame jokes, but it was genuinily funny! The whole time, I was giggling, or just had a smile on my face. It was great overall, a good movie to go see. :3

Hands-down, the best thing was Bart skateboarding naked. They totally took that sight-gag and turned it around! There were lots of funny moments in the film, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. (Not that it was hard, because I was expecting crap.)

I saw it and was unimpressed. I think it tried too hard to pull out a story that was "BIG FOR THOSE GIANT MOVIE SCREENS".

But it just ended up coming off as really lame. The movie was good until the plot came up (sometime after naked Bart?).

Also, domes =/= spheres. Christ I hate cartoon physics.

I loved it. Although since I'm in france right now to practice my French, I had to watch it in french (obviously).

I understood it all though.

But there were a lot of things that were written in English that they didn't translate or sub, so I was laughing my head off at some parts while everyone else just stared at me ::sigh...::

I loved the political jokes. The American government has some OBVIOUS problems.

I saw it recently. And honestly, I enjoyed myself, I don't regret having spent some cash on a ticket, at all.

To be honest, since the show has started to get a little old and tired, somewhat, the movie has kicked some new life into it. It felt more like the older episodes, in the respect that there was some emotional scenes, and whatnot, like the Bart/Flanders thing and the Homer/Marge thing, without going into detail.

I didn't find Spider-Pig as hilarious as half the known world, though. To be honest, I thought the stuff with the supporting Simpsons characters was much funnier, such as Grandpa and whatever, when he was having that fit in Church and he's getting dragged out, and he's like, "Thanks for listenin'!" Lollerz. Also, that nerdy Comic Book Guy when he was like, "I've spent my entire life devoted to comic books, and all I can say is... LIFE WELL SPENT!" - That made me Lol, too.

Surprised to see some long-forgotten faces from old episodes in the movie, too.. such as The Great Gabbo, that old bum who originally created Itchy and Scratchy who I can't recall the name of, and even Otto's Ex-Fianceé, Becki, appeared in the crowd at one point. Pretty weird stuff, considering they were like, one-shot characters.

I forgot to mention, I also found that Government guy funny, I forget his name. The one who keeps giving President Schwarzenegger those choices, and is pretty much the main villain of the movie. He's done a few voices in the cartoon before, including that episode where Bart gets fat off junk food, and there was that hilarious bit at the end credits with his character, a fat camp drill instructor, and Homer, arguing over a cheeseburger. "Give me a bite of that cheeseburger! I'm driving, I'll *kill* us!" - I swear, he just has the funniest voice of authority, ever.

Having robbed a look at IMDB.com, he's called Albert Brooks in reality, and the character in the movie was Russ Cargill.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000983/

He also did the voice of Jacques, who, as memory serves me was that sleazy guy from the Fiesta Terrace that Marge nearly cheated on Homer with, from that old episode with the bowling ball named "Homer." - He also did the voice of Cowboy Bob, the R.V Salesman in that other very old episode... and Hank Scorpio.

Hehe, I thought it was quite good. I wasn't really expecting much, but I was laughing all the way through and I don't regret paying to see it. I don't get why people freak about Bart's teeny weenie though. Cartoon penises don't exactly look like much (and I'm not saying that from 'lack of experience'. One time I was watching TV with my parents and we flicked over a uh...bad channel by accident), and in England you only have to walk down the street to see a million graffiti'd ones.

There are plenty of lines that made me burst out laughing, and I've always kinda liked pigs so that was a personal bonus for me.

I really liked it! I don't know WHAT I was expecting for this movie, but I know that it was better than I suspected. Homer flipping off everyone - repeatedly - Bart's little penis coming out of NOWHERE on that big panning shot, pretty much all the jokes were good.
Personal fave:
Russ Cargill: Mr. Governor, I have here FIVE equally unthinkable options-
Arnie: I pick option three!
Russ Cargill: ...But you haven't even read it yet.
Arnie: I was elected to lead...not to read.

Just the way he said that line cracked me up. Also, considering Sideshow Mel is my FAVOURITE CHARACTER EVER, I was happy that he got his couple of lines. He's just Shaskespearian.
That apostrophe is preposterous! It's a preposterous apostrophe!

I was quite upset by the lack of Sideshow Bob.

Unless he died somewhere in a new episode, and I've yet to see it.

Still, can't have everything.

I would've killed to see him get hit in the head with a rake, though.

I thought it was great. The plot wasn't anything too special or even that original, but the jokes and sight gags were more than enough to make that a moot point. The references to some of the episodes was nice, too.

My favorite aspect, though, is that things from the movie (like Plopper the pig) will be transferred into the show, so the movie isn't just some tacked on, unreferenced extra adventure.

They recorded some lines for him (and several others) that were eventually cut before the final print of the movie. They'll probably be included in the DVD release, since Matt Groening said they probably had enough cut material left over for two additional movies.

This movie was in fact solid, but it was toooo late, if they would have made this earlier, like after the fifth season, people would like it a little bit more.

I didn't really like it. It was like an too long Simpsons episode and it was too much like the newer seasons. I really enjoy only seasons 1-7.
