Like the title says, since its getting around christmas time, I was curious as to wonder what everyone's favorite christmas movies are.

Ugh, I hate christmas movies, but I'll give it my best.

Nightmare before Christmas and Batman returns are pretty much the only good ones. Although I still watch Jingle all the way.

I guess I'll list mine. I can only think of two at the moment:
Miracle on 34th Street
The Santa Clause

I don't really like Christmas movies... So I don't know what to answer.

Batman Returns? How is that a Christmas movie?

Jeez peeps. Where is also your christmas spirit? I like Christmas movies because they fill me with christmas joy when I need it and help me get into the christmas season.

I like The Christmas Story, all those classic ones, I saw mommy kissing Santa Clause, The Santa Clause, Jingle All the Way and many others

Ever seen it? Takes place around Christmas, Penguin was sent to the sewers during christmas, that whole line about "A Mistletoe is deadly if you eat it, all the snow, the lighting of the tree ect.

Well it might not TECHNICALLY count as a christmas movie, but it talks alot about it and takes place around christmas.

Oh right, it's the other one of the two movies I don't own on DVD and haven't seen in years. Somehow I didn't really remember that Christmas was so big part of it. I really should hunt it and add it to my DVD collection.

The ONLY Christmas film I like is the Muppets Christmas Carol. Everything else is awful IMO (well I suppose the first two Home Alone films aren't that bad - just don't mention 3 or 4 to me).

What's worst than 'Christmassy' Christmas films is that the BBC (or sometimes ITV) show The Great Escape EVERY CHRISTMAS WITHOUT FAIL. Surely they've got something else/better to put on?

All of it, actually.

The gift giving is Capitalist bullshit, and the family side of the holiday has its roots in Christianity.

I take it you don't celebrate the holiday then.

Quote:

Because, nowadays, I don't feel like giving to people out good will, spirit, and with a giving heart. Man, I guess I shouldn't have randomly blessed my friends with all those gifts in times past. Also, shame on my friend for giving another friend and I gifts. Then again, it was several months past, so I guess we were in the clear.

And, as we all know, it's wrong to even give Christianity a second's thought. We should be biased against it and follow other religions because they're so much more righterer than others. Well, Christianity does have it's own following and regilious work aka The Bible, but who cares about those anymore these days?

Damn, man! You should be some kind of philospher. :redd:

And what exactly did you give to these friends? Material goods?

Not at all, we shouldn't follow any religion, because none of them have sufficient evidence to support their beliefs, Atheism is of course included in that.

So we should all be mindless drones and follow nothing which, technically, is following something? What the hell, man.

To answer the first questions, yes I gave them material goods. I wasn't obliged, I just felt like it. Have you a problem with that? Are you some kind of nihilist?

I'm saying you should follow what seems right... Agnosticism is the only thing that makes sense. Atheism, Christianity, Buddhism etcetera, they are all require a certain amount of faith. Faith however, is not something that makes sense.

Of course I have a problem that, else I would have mentioned it would I? Your friends gained nothing from receiving material goods, in fact, you've taken away from them.

And what the hell, do you know what a Nihilist is?

Since when does atheism need a certain amount of faith and agnosticism doesn't?

(Granted, for atheism you need a certain faith in people. But agnosticism is mainly "Huh. I dunno. Let's have basically everything possible, shall we? Makes it easy.". And yet again, this can actually go for every belief around.)

lol wtf is this? Dude, Gears. Quit preaching to me. I don't need your self-proclaimed teachings wisdom crossing paths with my morals and values. Nor do others.

Fuck off.

And quit preaching. Seriously, it's annoying. The last thing we need is an overtly dedicated zealot trying to speak his word. You're not making a difference.

With that said, I'm done arguing with you. If you find me responding to your posts or quoting you ever again, you can sue me.

No, no, no. I'm not of those types of Agnostic, I'm more of a "there's not enough evidence to support either belief and you're a fucking badaud for arguing for either side" kind of Agnostic. There's not enough proof to suggest that there isn't a deity, and there's not enough to suggest there is. You're a moron if you think otherwise. :P

You know, I find it pretty ironic that a topic about the season of goodwill to everyone has devolved into anything but. XD But I suppose it's logical that if you don't like christmas, you won't like the films.

Like many of the posters here, I also love Muppet Christmas Carol, and Miracle on 34th street, and I also like both Grinches and Charlie Brown Christmas (As long as you can get past the most miserable Christmas song in existance in the title credits :D).

Was Home Alone a Christmas movie? That was a good film, kind of childish though.
