This movie looks better than Epic Movie. IMO that one was a waste of money... It had some funny parts, but I still wouldn't want to pay to see it again.

They need to stop trying to degrade good movies.
It just takes all the fun out of memes and such.

Since this is by the same "writers" who gave us the two craptacular movies, "Date Movie" & "Epic Movie," I'll wait until it's on DVD. It disappoints me when even parody movies are done very poorly. No creativity whatsoever now...so sad.

I agree, but i still want to see this. My friend is obsessed with 300 though, so he is brooding over this.

Good thing.

However, this movie does not look appeal to me in the least. I'll be skipping it.

They really need to stop with the parody/spoof movies.

The Scary Movie trilogy was amusing though.

And then after that the humor just got too bland and went down hill when they tried other things.

If we want spoofs, we got the Interwebs and memes.

Parodies are only good when they're not done pretty much every year, as it has been for the past few years. They should wait a few years and then write one. They also have to be more than just the most popular scenes in the movies being spoofed, they gotta be creative and weave a story around them.

I miss the days of Naked Gun, Spaceballs, and the other classics. Those are how parodies are suppose to be done. Pure classics.

The cop movie drama genre, with a dash of pop culture references here and there.

THANK YOU. I was starting to wonder if anyone else besides me felt this way.

This will be the worst movie of 2008. Yes, I'm calling it now, in January, before I've seen it.

I'm not seeing it.

Supposedly, it was going to be called epic movie 2, but because epic movie sucked so much, they changed the name.

Call it "Epic Movie 2" and have only a single parody throughout the whole film?

Yep, makes perfect sense to me.

Well a majority of epic movie seemed to soley encompass the chronicles of narnia. Although, like you said, it wouldn't make a lot of sence, which might be another reason that they changed the name.

From what I could tell, the reason Scary Movie was so rocking was because they had the Wayans brothers working on them. Everything went to the crapper when they disappeared from the credits. (And I have the watching experience to prove it... *sob* I want those hours of my life back.)

I denno about that...I think it really depends on what type of humor you like. I know people who hated SC 1/2, but loved SC 3/4. The Wayans' SC-style was more upfront with the sexual/drug/pop jokes, whereas the Zucker's SC was more slapstick and innuendo, with a good dose of pop culture. I preferred the Wayans' SC over the newer ones, but the newer ones weren't flat out terrible, they were decent at best.

Unforntunatley no, I heard it from someone who said they read it somewhere.

Besides, wikipedia doesn't say anything about why they chose that name.

I personally say that this movie represents everything that's wrong with satire.

A good parody doesn't just make fun of a movie/show/genre; it takes that idea and creates a coherent story as well as interesting characters to go with it. That's why movies like Airplane! and Naked Gun and Austin Powers are successful parodies.

This new slew of [FILL IN THE BLANK] Movies is nothing more half-assed movie and pop-culture parodies loosely stringed together in a feeble attempt to garnish laughs. It's nothing more than "Hey, remember this scene from a famous movie? Well, here's what it would look like if it had Tay Zonday and farting in it!".

Note, good parodies usually go for these things:
1. A plot based around a general movie plot (IE. disaster film, Spy film etc.)
2. Pop culture references for good measure.
3. A whole lot of absurdist comedy.
4. and the occasional joke based on an old joke with a new twist (IE. Between Iraq and a hard place, from Hot Shots Part Duex)

This and even Family Guy however just get to 2 and stay there.

Sadly, the quality of movies has diminished greatly over the past years, thus lowering my standards by a lot. I doubt there's ever going to be a decent movie by the standards of old ever again.

This is getting to the point, that we'll soon be seeing stuff like "Parody Movie" a movie that parodies movie parody movies.

I've gotta say, it's a good movie if you just need to laugh like an idiot. It's very...random.

I watched just recently to see how bad it is.

The thing is this isn't a Parody, satire, or joke filled, This is just sad. You know it's trailer? the movies actually WORSE. If you're going to watch anything at the time from the theaters, go watch 'Rambo'. I don't care what those critics at Rotten Tomatoes say, I don't care what Ebert/Roeper/Whoever says this is a bad film, WATCH RAMBO. What I wonder is why something as awesome as 'Rambo' number 2 in the polls behind the godawful Meet the Spartans?

Why are you telling people to go see it if you hate it so much?

And every critic does hate it. It has a 3% at Rotten Tomatoes.
