I'm too lazy to find myself some anime to watch. :yuusaku:

So, can anyone recommend one or two or more to me? =D
I've thought about watching Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, but I have that covered.

I'm basically looking for anything humorous, mecha, and/or just plain cool.
So, yeah. Start recommending! :odoroki:

Hayate no Gotoku!
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei *points to sig*

If you don't like those two, I don't know what I can tell you.

Also, I need to watch Gurren Lagann @_@ Even though I've been spoiled to hell about major plot points... but still.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann warrants restating.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mobile Suit Gundam, various other Gundam series... those are based around Mechs...

Beyond EVA, I'd recommend Noir, .hack//SIGN, Card Captor Sakura, and while I haven't watched all of its following series, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.

No, the lyrical part doesn't mean anything. Seriously.

Mecha: Layzner, Votoms, Gasaraki, 08th MS Team, Patlabor, L-Gaim, Big O, Shin Getter Robo, New Getter Robo, Victory Gundam, Zeta Gundam, King Gainer, Koutetsujin Jeeg, Koutetsushin Jeeg, Dunbine, Ideon, Mazinger Z, Reideen (old one not new one)

Also, Eva isn't a mech show.

Just Plain Cool: Monster, Devilman OVA, Monster, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Monster, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Monster

It arguably is a mech show. If you're referring to the EVA's themselves, well, that's a bit of a spoiler as to why it wouldn't be.

Well, aside from the Angels, the mech elements are monstrously downplayed in favor of Shinji jacking off. If you can consider it mecha at all (but this would be a bit like calling No One Lives Forever 2 an FPS/RPG) it's extremely mecha-lite.

You want a good mecha series loaded with funnies and drama? Go watch Full Metal Panic!, the pseudo-sequel, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!!, and the official sequel, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid.

A word of warning, though: Fumoffu!! is full of parodies and references to other anime series, and the absolute best, which will have you pissing your chair and almost dying of laughter-induced asphyxiation, requires you to watch Mobile Suit Gundam SEED beforehand.

I reccommend a few:

Bleach - Like a diet Naruto. Same amount of story without all the overly angsty-emo bits.

One Piece - There's a good reason it's carried on for almost 500 chapters/400 episodes and still ranked in top 10 Anime In Japan!

.hack//Sign - It's a very confusing story at first, but once you actually get the fact that the anime is about the events inside of an MMORPG while referencing some things in real life, you'll get it easy.

.hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet - Same as .hack//SIGN, but more bright and chibi.

.hack//Roots - An Emo main character, but the rest of the characters balance it out.

.hack//Liminality - This takes place during the PS2 4-game block, but outside of the game for once.

.hack//GIFT - Worth a watch for all .hack// fans! It's the characters from the PS2 games and .hack//Sign drawn in a more abstract manner for an episode where hillarity ensues!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga Daioh, Clannad (waaay more exciting and worth it compared to other Key anime), Red Garden (dead girls ftw & it's sequel...um... Red Garden: DEAD GIRLS), Serial Experiments Lain (if you want angst)...

More off the top off my head ...if I ever find them.

I wasn't really into Haruhi. I couldn't really process what was going on at all XD
Or Lucky star >____> Though, for whatever reason, I'm a big Daioh fan.

Tsubasa's pretty good, the Tokyo Revelations OVAs are awesome. The manga has the most depth, though.

Zetsubou Sensei's one of the newer anime that I like a lot. It comes off as very dark, but has that comedic edge, which I enjoy.

Death Note's a good psychological (I suppose) thriller. It made me question some things about humanity...which a cartoon shouldn't really make me do..should it? ._.

If you want super-cool anime, you should check out Trinity Blood. I never thought a plot revolving entirely around vampires would win my heart and soul as efficiently as Trinity Blood.

But really, it's a great anime. The plot is great and the dubs... well, the dubs are actually pretty tolerable since 4Kids doesn't have the reins. I'm not sure if Adult Swim is still airing the episodes, but I think Veoh.com has a few episodes uploaded. Mind you, most of those episodes are Japanese with English subtitles. iTunes also has the dubbed English episodes for sale.

Trinity Blood can be really violent, though. Just a word of warning.

I would have suggested the One Piece anime, but I really prefer the manga over the anime because I, too, am among the seething masses of frothing-at-the-mouth anime fans who thinks 4Kids $%^#s everything up. Plus, I don't have access to the Japanese-language, English-subtitled episodes. However, Funimation has been granted the license to dub One Piece, so I think there'll be some improvements judging by the new voice actors assigned to the characters. A video of all the different voice actors should be on YouTube.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is <3 -- basically, little ol' cute Haruhi is GOD, and she doesn't know it, thus she can fuck the world over and create a new one and she won't notice she did so. The other guys in the SOS Dan are basically there to keep her amused, entertained and under control so she doesn't blow up the world. =p

And Lucky Star is LULZ. Same idea as in Daioh -- random short episodes strung together in a single TV episode. =p

The thing about Haruhi is for the first few episodes I was just thinking "wtf is going on" And besides, I already have an anime God, and his name is KIRA!. The out-of-order thing kinda ruined it for me. Lucky Star is quite funny, though, especially if you're an otaku who loves fanservice.

I also recommend, if you enjoy shojou manga, Ouran High School Hos Club. It's quite quirky, and has a little bit of something for everyone.

Well the out-of-order/how it was aired episode lists makes more sense than the "this is the fucking storyline order" order. Then again depends on how you understand the series logic.

Classic Anime:
Hokuto No Ken (Why? Because all the new anime rips this one off. This is where the old school badass epicness starts)
Mazinger Z
Kidou Senshi Gundam (for those of you too damn lazy to tell, it's Mobile Suit Gundam)

New School:
D. Gray Man
Bleach (better story than Naruto, less emo too.)
Fate Stay Night
Karas
Anything by Miyazaki other than Spirited Away
DeathNote (Simply because I'm sadistic)
Higurashi No Koro Ni (Same reason. I love to watch lolli suffer)

I'll keep you posted on my recommendations. These are the ones thus far.
Stuff I suggest you stay away from if you want to keep any shred of self-respect:
Anything Trendy (Seriously. Do you really want to be one of the tards?)
Samurai Deeper Kyo. (That Anime sucked major ass. manga is pretty good, though)
Naruto (Emo, boring, and quite a bother. Only thing it's got is neat character art.)

Gintama and Hunter X Hunter are stock recommendations of mine. Law of Ueki is also cool. A slower series is Last Exile, which is a favorite of mine as well. Akagi is a fun one, even if you don't know the rules of Mahjong. That's all I know. Series to stay away from; Claymore. It's an awesome series. But the geniuses over at the animation company decided to overhaul the rumored greatest part of the story with a stereotypical shounen battle. So, yes, read the manga, but don't watch the anime.

How about, instead of attempting to provoke me to start a flame war, consider this:

Bleach has gone on 300+ chapters. This means it isn't sh*t as you say it is.
One Piece is getting close to its 500th chapter and, last I checked, is currently ranked #3 in Japan (behind Doraemon and another anime, which I forget the name).

The .hack// Franchise is actually quite amazing once you get the location of the anime. The anime is unique, it's good, and last I heard, there are no other anime/manga franchises based on a fictional MMORPG.

Don't mess with me, kid. I may not be an Otaku, but I can damn well bet I'm better than you. So back off and leave the adults alone, yeah?

We all have our opinions. I thought Suzumiya Haruhi was awesomely cool, Naruto is a bit... well, you see it everywhere, so it's kind of annoying.
Lucky Star and Suzumiya Haruhi are awesome, as is Azumanga Daioh.
I think EVA is a mech anime, but not too sure. I liked it, though.

Everything else, I'll check out.

I'm surprised, though, that no one mentioned Ghost in the Shell as an anime I should watch, although I already watched it. XD
Anyway, yeah. I'll try Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I think.

For a freaking hilarious mecha, there's this fairly old anime Martian Successor Nadesico. The art's a tad dated, but I fell in love with Nadesico from the very beginning. I believe my first thoughts were something like "Whoa! It's opening with an alien attack... and catchy pop music!" I've only seen the dub, but I think you may want to see the sub. The dub isn't bad at all compared to some other stuff (...believe it), but the characters tend to shout a lot in the first few episodes. They stop yelling so much in the middle.

And regarding Sakura being the only series where the people speak Osaka dialect? Do yourself a favor and get Lovely Complex -- THE ENTIRE FUCKING CAST speaks in Osaka dialect. ;-)

I'll take a look at it. :edgy:

I watched like three episodes of Nadesico and I was 89% convinced that it's an alternate universe of Eva. That reminds me, did Gainax ever get back to work on you know....finishing the Eva series the right way?

I remember some talk yesteryear that they cast res4 on this thing and started working on a new season. Haven't heard a word about it since. Someone kill me(then bring me back and kill me again). :yuusaku:

Also, I have yet to see Lucky Star in any other form than sucky Youtube footage that just gets wiped faster than it can be loaded.

It might not be up your alley, but I have to reccommend Mushishi to everyone who asks for an anime reccomendation...
It's a bit slow, not really 'traditional', and not funny or mech, but it's interesting.
I'm not a huge anime person, to tell you the truth... :sadshoe: I haven't even finished Eva yet.
Umm... *dissappears before flaming starts*

How can anyone finish this?

This is one of those horrible things I first saw when I was 12 and still running a low class desktop with Win9x over dialup...Or something. =/

Still the universal theories hold true. The more I go back and watch this, the more I understand of the story(and the language). There's something very very wrong/out of place with the order of some of the events in this story. Problem is, it's been so long since I've watched this that I've forgotten what I was going to say.

Also yeah, the two movies that were supposed to be individual endings to this thing that eventually determined 89% of the views that this thing sucks...

Uhmmm....I saw the "End of Eva" and then "Death & Rebirth" so yeah. :yuusaku:

Don't mess with me, kid. I may not be an Otaku, but I can damn well bet I'm better than you. So back off and leave the adults alone, yeah?

Whoa, whoa, hey dude, lighten up.

I apologize to everyone who this wasn't directed to, but I'm not going to get cyber-bullied by some brat.[/quote]

What the hell is "cyber bullying"?

What I am doing is "posting a question with my opinion in it".
