I've just started reading Death Note (and will eventually watch the series), but I was wondering if anyone would suggest another Manga series to read next? I love Death Note, so I think I'd like something similar. I've never read any mangas before, so I don't really know what's out there. Thanks for any input! :pearl:

Really it depends on your preference. You say you like Death Note?

I'd probably suggest Bleach on top of everything. Hellsing too, though it's quite graphic with the gore and such. What else...One Piece is pretty good. My personally favorite is Rave Master (though I've yet to find a translated volume higher than 24)

I don't read or watch Death Note, so I don't know what the "feel" of it is, but here are some suggestions... My personal favorite manga :adrian:

1- Fullmetal Alchemist. The anime is ok, the manga is FANTASTIC. If anything, read the manga. It's very intelligent, makes sense, and the characters are awesome.

2- Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Currently my second-favorite manga. It has lots and lots of dark humor in it, and at times it's just plain bizarre. But they do make valid points about society when they're not inducing nightmares. The anime is also great <3

3- Penguin Revolution. Ok, it's a shoujo manga. I usually don't like shoujo manga. But this one's good enough that I'm tearing my hair out because I can't find volume five anywhere!

4- Hayate the Combat Butler. AKA Hayate no Gotoku! It's humor. Shonen humor. There's not much I can say except the anime is my favorite anime, and the manga is pretty awesome too.

Honorable mentions:

-Yotsuba&!
-Azumanga Daioh
-Yakitate!! Japan

I actually don't read that much manga. I'm very picky. But check them out when you have the opportunity, and if you want to know more about any of them, just ask~

Depending on your preferences...

Alien Nine - This is like from 2001. If you find the 4 volumes of this anywhere that's pretty lucky. It's sci-fi and pretty gorey and you really have to look beyond the picture to understand and interpret what's going on.

Aqua/Aria - Great for a relaxing read. Pretty much slice-of-life and nothing much more. But the scenery drawn is really beautiful.

Gunslinger Girl - Definitely no typical action. Psychological actually and pretty deep. It mind screws you a little and can give you angst relapse for some days depending...

Hell Girl - Horror, mystery. The manga came AFTER the anime, so I'm not entirely sure if I should recommend this... (yeah I haven't bothered with the manga myself)

xxxHolic - Mystifying. It's pretty supernatural going under different themes on human nature and things like...fate etc. etc. It's best though if you like...read or seen...or at least know the hundred other titles by the group of CLAMP as this series pretty much refers to them a lot in the plot.

Welcome to the N.H.K. - A bit mature; deals with different lifestyles and all that strangeness.

I have more suggestions but they might not suit your tastes as most are drama, or romance comedy like Pita-Ten or Fruits Basket.

These are my favorites, which you might like:

Ai-Ren
Description from MyAnimeList: Ikuru is a boy who doesn't have long to live. Grown up question the purpose of his life and the reason for his death, he's grown up constantly confused and lonely. Now, learning that he hasn't long to live, he requests that a special "girl" called a AGH-RMS be given to him. These people are genetically made so that they help heal and ease the mental burdens of someone who hasn't long to live. This manga is cute, sad and ultimately a story about life, death and humanity.

Koi Kaze
Description from MyAnimeList: Born twelve years apart, siblings Koshiro and Nanoka were separated when their parents divorced and moved to different parts of Japan; as a result, they both grew up hardly aware of the other's existence.

The story begins when 15-year-old Nanoka moves to Tokyo to live with her father and brother, the latter being 27 years old and employed by a marriage-arranging company. Koshiro first encounters Nanoka on the train one morning, and returns her dropped train pass. Despite their age difference, they feel a brief spark of connection before they go their separate ways.
Soon after that, they encounter each other once again near an amusement park, where they go on an impromptu date. While riding the Ferris wheel, the two open their hearts to each other and discuss their recent romantic woes. Nanoka comforts Koshiro when he breaks down and cries, and he realizes that he is very attracted to her. Right after the date, they meet their father, and are startled to realize they are siblings.
Koi Kaze is about Koshiro's love for Nanoka, his conflicting drive to obey societal norms, and Nanoka's growth into womanhood and her growing feelings for her brother.

Maburaho
Description from MyAnimeList: Kazuki Shikimori has lost his memory and has come to find out that there are three young girls after his DNA. Even though his magic is extremely limited compared to others, it is believe that his offspring will wield incredible magic. Kuriko Kazetsubaki claims to be his girlfriend. Rin Kamishiro is urged by her family to be his wife. And Yuuna Miyami claims to be Kazuki's wife, as per a promise made when they were kids.

Mai-HiME
Description from MyAnimeList: Yuuichi Tate is overjoyed: He gets to go to a brand new high school. Of course, then he just happens to find out the school he choose is under frequent attack by strange creatures called ''Orphans'', and the school set up a special task force of female members called ''HiME''s, using various elements as their powers, to battle these invaders. That's not all, though. Each member of the HiME task force has their own, unique ''Key'', another person whom, upon being discovered, can team up with the HiME to create a ''Child'', a combative unit specifically needed to effectively battle these Orphans. And with Yuuichi's luck, he just happens to find out he's not just the ''Key'' for one of the HiMEs, but for two... Two highly competitive, rival schoolgirls. And that's only the start of the trouble.

Mai-Otome
Description from MyAnimeList: Mashiro-hime has just transferred to the all-girls school, Garderobe...but little do the other students know, she's actually a boy. Desperate to escape an all-boys school where he was looked down upon, he disguised himself as the late Mashiro-hime to get in. Unfortunately, due to "her" royal status, members of an organization known as Shwarz are trying to assassinate him, and all the while, he's trying to break his Contract with Arika Yumemiya, who unexpectedly became his Otome to protect him from a member of Shwarz.

Midori no Hibi
Description from MyAnimeList: Seiji Sawamura is the toughest seventeen-year-old in town, feared by all for his fighting prowess and his deadly "devil's right hand." But at heart, Seiji is a softy, and all he wants is an end to his seventeen-year history of being a lonely single guy. Unfortunately his tough-guy reputation only serves to decrease his popularity with the ladies.

Onegai Teacher
Description from MyAnimeList: Kusanagi Kei, a high-school student living with his aunt and uncle, has an encounter with a female alien. This alien is revealed to be a new teacher at his school. Later, he is forced to marry this alien to preserve her secrets. From there, various romantically-inclined problems crop up repeatedly. Ultimately, a story about growing up, and learning to love one another.

Paradise Kiss
Description from MyAnimeList: Yukari wants nothing more than to make her parents happy by studying hard and getting into a good college. One afternoon, however, she is kidnapped by a group of self-styled fashionistas calling themselves "Paradise Kiss." Yukari suddenly finds herself flung into the roller-coaster life of the fashion world, guided by George, art-snob extraordinaire. In a glamorous makeover of body, mind and soul, she is turned from a hapless bookworm into her friends22 own exclusive clothing model.

Also, along with Monster and 20th Century Boys, zu is right, read JoJo.

You have no excuse for not reading Monster, by the way. If you think Death Note is remotely close to great, then you will surely find Monster to be the most perfect series ever.

Also read Lone Wolf and Cub and Crying Freeman too.

HAHA YOU SHOULD SEE THE DOUJINSHI AVAILABLE IN JAPAN.
Also, Everyone I know loves it.
...Everyone I know that reads manga, anyway.
I <3 Krory.

I'm personally addicted to Tsubasa and Angel Sancturary (AS is complete). Don't read the latter if you're really religious or if you're part of a Older Brother/Younger Sister relationship. I know I'm going to Hell for reading it, but I might as well save a few innocent souls with my warning. It's very sacrilegious.
Spoiler: And very very wrong.
Brother/Sister Romance, M/M, M/F, F/F couplings and a possible Father/Son pairing. We're not quite sure. And I'm pretty sure they killed God.
And Lucifer is Freaking Hot.

Azumanga Daioh-Azumanga Daioh is in my opinion anyway is the best manga/anime ever made it fetures Chiyo Mihama the brainy but very kind and selfless 10 year-old genius who is best friends with Ayume Kasuga, Ayume Kasuga the spacy girl who is best friends with Chiyo-Chan and is the smartest of the Numbnuts, Knuckleheads or Bonklers which ever you want to call it, Tomo Takino the Wild cat high school girl who is best friends and possibly more with Yomi Mizuhara and is the second smartest member of the Numbnuts,Knuckleheads or Bonklers which ever you want to call it, Yomi Mizuhara is the a very smart high school girl who is obsessed with diets and loves rollercoasters she is best friends and possibly more with Tomo Takino, Sakaki is a very shy and timid girl who everybody thinks is super cool and loves anything cute and is very athletic and is best friends with Kagura and last but not least Kagura the tomboy with a heart of gold who loves swimming and is the leader (because she the dumbest) of the Numbnuts, Knuckleheads or Bonklers which ever you want to call it and is best friends with Sakaki.

I will write more soon.

BLACK CAT.

Simply the best manga out there; MURDERED in the anime adaptation. Bastards.

Fullmetal Alchemist is also sweetness.

MAR; written quite some time ago, but hilarious and full of references to fairy tales and stuff in completely crazy ways. An awesome shounen manga.

Bleach. Nothing to say there, except that anime itself is really good too, sometimes better.

Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku) is one of the most random, but hilarious, things I have ever seen. You should definitely get it.
