Are you kidding? Naruto keeps saying "believe it" repetitively in the dubbed, he never says it in the Japanese original. That and the Toad Sage (perverted hermit... I forgot his name) voice drove me nuts in the dubbed. Naruto is good when it comes to action, but voice acting in the dub and fillers in Japan right now are making me sick after a while.

The dub is really true to the original, except for the occasional weird thing (Toad Sage?) or mispronounciation of a character's name (I almost went mad hearing "Shi-ka-MAAH-roo" repeated so many times in one episode). Really, the only thing that bothers me that much is the voice acting. A lot of it is really annoying, especially Naruto. I still just stick to the subbed episodes to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Past all the Narutards and such, it ain't such a bad anime, even though I don't watch it. It's just blown up a lot, for lack of better word.

I've watched the first 7 episodes of Shippuuden, and I'm going to wait until I have a bunch more and watch it in a marathon. I'll most likely skip all the review parts, opening and ending songs too.

I refuse to watch the dub. The dub is a very touchy subject for me, because I hate the voice acting. It gets on my nerves so much it's not even funny. Naruto's voice makes me want to hit something, because it just rubs me the wrong way. The names are so different from what I'm used to, I can't help but facepalm at it. It just sounds...off cadence to me.
And the technique names make no sense. "Fire Style: Huge Fireball Jutsu"? I can't accept that. I would much prefer to hear "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu" with a translation at the bottom of the screen. I really think they dropped the ball on the dub. But I'm way ahead of my friends who watch the dub, so I can't discuss Shippuuden with them, but I can discuss most of the fandom with them.
I suppose I'm being nitpicky, at least where the dub is concerned, but this was my first true fandom, where I jumped in right when it started in America. I still have my issues of Shonen Jump where it premiered. I'm allowed to have my opinions, and I refuse to get into debate over dub vs. sub. They both have their redeeming qualities, even if I've seen better dubs. We're lucky Cartoon Network saw fit to release it to the public, and that it has the following it does. That keeps the merchandise coming, because lord knows I need more headbands.
To be honest, the only thing I would like to change about the series is the godawful fanfiction I've found, but that's another story. I love the series, and think it's great that it's become so popular. I even saw some Kakashi and Iruka cosplayers at MidSouthCon this year, which was pretty damn surreal. I still have to catch up on the manga, though.

Ignoring all that, I basically dropped out of the fandom because of the QUALITY animation, predictable and cliche` story line, and uninteresting action seqences. I mean I get excited when a huge battle starts and then its "Talking tiem" and after the talking they only take 2 swings at each other until "FLASH BACK AND MOAR TALKING TIEM" And by then I loose the excitment and wish the arc would end already.

I'm seconding this opinion... The plot is pretty damn predictable, and the manga is somewhat better than the anime...
When I think about it though, the amount of Sasuke haters almost equals out the amount of Sasuke worshippers...

Now this is a statement I can agree with.
I liked Naruto at first, but then again my anime experience at that time was limited to Dragonball Z so of course I felt Naruto had a more involving storyline.
Needless to say when I started reading other series I lost interest in Naruto. When I look back at Naruto as a whole it just doesn't really feel as good as I thought it was.
Also I have to say if there was one thing I could change about the Naruto fandom. It's the people who claim Naruto to be the greatest fictional work ever made and that all other anime/manga suck in comparison. It really get's on my nerves especially when they do it with One Piece (which is a really good series) when they haven't even seen it.

True. Most shounen manga are predictable, but it's how the writer works with that predictablity that really sells the series. One Piece, Rurouni Kenshin, Konjiki no Gash Bell, Full Metal Alchemist (manga), Detective Conan... They all do this quite well and it makes them excellent series.
Bleach though seems more like a fashion show than a manga since I don't even think there's any semblence of a story anymore.
and well when I look back at Naruto it just seems like Kishimoto just doesn't know what the heck he's doing most of the time. I mean most writers have a good basic outline of the story up until the end becore they actually begin. It may be just my opinion, but I think Kishimoto doesn't really know where he's going with the Naruto manga. Part 2 alone is proof of that.

I'm a pure Narutard and not afraid to admit it. All this stuff about it being predictable and annoying is annoying itself. I've watched One Piece and read the manga, but I never thought it was really that good and thought that Naruto was much better

One Piece kicks ass. I'll admit I thought the art was "ugly" when I first saw it, but once I started doing research and watching episodes it really grew on me.
Now it (along with Naruto) has become one of those obsessions I can't shake even when I try. Not that I'm complaining or anything.
