An RP that is based on the overhyped Battle of Chi bi (AKA battle of red bluffs/cliffs, not the translation) between the Wei, Shu, and Wu factions.
It's Wei and against Shu and Wu.
The historical events are fixed and cannot be altered. Here are the indisputable events:
The battle is naval and ground (ground to a limited extent).
Wei outnumbers Shu and Wu by 4 to one.
Shu and Wu feint a surrender and then burn the enemy ships while their guard is lowered.
Shu and Wu win.
Now, here are your superiors
Wu general: Zhou Yu
Shu general: Zhuge Liang
Wei general: Cao Cao.
Here's how the RP will work. Participants come up with a name for their officer, and it must be kanji. If you can't think of one I'll be happy to supply you with one ^_^. Oh yeah, you can't play as the three aforementioned generals.
Your officer should be strong either tactically, physically, or charismatically, or maybe a mix of the three. You can choose to be particularly proficient at a weapon from the period. Being an officer, you'll also have a company of soldiers at your command.
Stats:
You get six points.
Charisma (How well you can command your troops):
Tactician (How well you can use your army):
Physical (How well you fight):
Each field already has two points. Add the rest as you see fit.
Troops:
You get one hundred exactly. They can be killed. Everyone gets reinforcements at the same time and of the same amount.
Here are the types:
Pikemen (excellent for blockades)
Light Cavalry (fast and good for causing confusion)
Heavy Cavalry (The most powerful unit)
Swordsmen (The "grunt", average)
Archers (Long range)
Crossbowmen (Long range, more accurate, but slower reloads)
Phalanx (Slow but only vulnerable to cavalry) (yes, there was a Chinese Phalanx unit. Not much different from the greeks)
If there are any suggestions, I'll add more variety to the troop list!
The setting of this RP will be a chain of ships. There are larger ships and smaller ships. Each character will have at his command one larger ship (warboat) with ten smaller ships (lifeboats/rafts). There should be historically accurate weapons like halberds, fire arrows, etc.
And also lumbering cliffs that overlook the naval battle. :P. The ground battle shouldn't be simulated, or else this RP will be in over it's head ^_^.
RULES.
Be sure to observe the rules in the RP section.
I cannot stress this enough. NO GODMODDING. As an officer, you're stronger than grunts, but...you can't fight hundreds of them at once and expect to win! Be
realistic while still retaining the aura of an RP. Also, for officer v officer battles should end in draws until further notice, b/c of who wins or who doesn't. You can't kill another character unless s/he decides to permanently leave the RP.
So, any applicants? we'll start when we have at least two people for each faction. Yes, I'm participating, and I'm choosing the "Wei" faction (the losing faction.)
