District Court
Waiting Lobby No. 5

Cyron marches around the waiting lobby, looking about sharply. Resting his gaze on one of the guards, he flinches a bit from the Prosecutor's sharp glare. He begins to tap his fingers on his arms, and asks the guard something.

"You there. Inform me on the current situation."

His fellow guard starts snickering a bit, but as Cyron shifts his glare to him, he's silenced. Looking at the first guard again, he clearly expects an answer... quickly.

"U-uh, sir mister Prosecutor, I-I'm afraid th-that at the m-m-moment, no one h-has y-yet asked y-you to h-help him w-with a case, s-sir Prosecutor."

The guard cringes as he hears the prosecutor mutter the words "salary" and "reduction", and furthermore ignores the guard. Once again, he starts striding through the room.

((I hope it's clear to everyone... I'm looking for a case, and preferably as a prosecutor.))

"Hey, pal," a voice came from the doorway, as a tall thin looking man stepped into the waiting lobby, a cane in his right hand and his left in his dark red dress pants. His angular features settled upon the prosecutor with a smile. "You seem rather anscious around here, like a tiger pacing back and forth in his cage, ready to break free at a moment's notice. What's on your mind?"

He motioned to the guard. "Don't worry about it, good sir. Mr. Cyron is only anxious to start his first trial."

The man turned back to the prosecutor, the same smile on his face . "I am happy to anounce that there is a case that was asign to me, Prosecutor Vincent Van Detta. However, I'm forced to decline due to some...personal issues I must deal with in Romania. They are looking for a replacement, and I'd think you would fit the bill nicely, my...comrade. What say you? Are you up for it?"

Cyron crosses his arms again, tapping his fingers against his arm. Looking about thoughtfully, he answers:

"Might be. I'd like to know a few things first. One, what kind of case would I be dealing with? Two, who would be the defense, and three... who are you?"

Van Detta raised his eyebrow. "I believe I have stated my name before, but I suppose an introduction would be better suited." He bowed politely. "I am Vincent Van Detta, Veteran Prosecutor of Romania."

He went over and pulled a vanilla file from his suitcase he laided on the ground nearby. "As for this case, it's a murder. A criminal Psychiatrist was murdered in the parking lot of the district prison. The suspect in name is convict Harley Draco, a biker gang member who was trialed and sentence to twenty years in prison for assault and battery, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer. He is currently serving his seventeenth year. However, the poor fellow may face the death penalty for what has happen." He handed the file to Cyron. "The autopsy report will be given to you by tomorrow, as well as the important evidence needed in the case." He paused for a moment, thinking.

"As for the defense, Mrs. Athena Cross will be the attorney for the trial, I believe. Have you heard of her?"

"Ah, yes, my mistake. You made me believe it was your friend who was Vincent Van Detta. As for the case, he'll get what he deserves."

He pauses a bit to flip some pages in the file.

"Yes, I see. Shouldn't be too hard to prove him guilty. As to Mrs. Athena Cross, yes, I have heard some rumours about her. I'd be glad to test myself against her. Can you tell me some more about the lady?"

"Well," Van Detta began. "She is a remarkable woman, and a formidable opponent. She started her career at the age of 21, currently in her fourth year as a defense attorney, and her record is spotless. No one has yet to take her down. Some have been calling her the Queen of Cross-Examination. It's not quite a surprize though, seeing as her father was a detective and all." He paused a moment. "I'm afraid I can't go into much detail about him. It's a rather...delicate memory for us. Anyway, my advice when dealing with her, make sure you evidence is air tight, the testimonies of the witness match up, and keep on the assault if Athena ever gets wind of a lead."

Nodding to himself slowly, Cyron says, "Then I'll be the first to remove that record. And maybe, she could even take this little guard here with her, because as a guard, he's fired. And I'll make sure that she won't badger and harass witnesses... I assume that is what she does in court, correct me if I'm mistaken."

Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, he asks, "Anything else I need to know?"

"Well, um..." he began but hessitated, apparently not wanted to bring something up. "You should be aware of...her defense aid." He pulled up a photo of a man in his mid-twenty with red hair, a pair of sunglasses goggles worn slightly crooked around his forehead. "Benjamin Credable, or Ben as they say. He's...well. He was a former police detective on the force about four years ago, but quit soon after an incident that placed him in the defendant's chair. He now works as a Private Investigator and Athena's defense aid. You really don't need to worry about him...unless, he eats a cookie."

Taking the photograph, he studies it carefully.

"Thank you. I'll make sure all food is banned in court. I have to finish this quickly then, to make sure no recess is called, in case he decides to eat his cookie then. Could you tell me more about that incident?"

"I'm afraid there's not much else I can tell you," Vincent shrugged. "The reports have yet to be comepleted. Other than the suspect, I can tell you nothing." He glanced at his watch. "Oh! My plane with be leaving in an hour. I should get going. Don't worry, just make sure to go over the testimonies and evidence tomorrow. You'll do fine." Vincent bowed once more before heading out the door.
