Okay. I've always wondered how Aperture Science was before GLaDOS went all "I'm a computer, I'm obviously better than you, OOH NEUROTOXIN! :D" on everyone. We will RP how the place normally ran (with GLaDOS just being finished), and then later on she'll do the neurotoxin thing, they'll fix her up, and then the next crisis happens. After that, the RP will end. (I'm not expecting this to go for very long before it all happens, but we'll see =D)

You can be a Test Subject, a Worker, a Technician, or one of the Personality Cores (They speak separately from GLaDOS whenever they're not connected to her). I will be GLaDOS for now, and one of the technicians. Please sign up with the normal directives (Name, Age, Occupation, A short history if applicable, etc.), and you don't have to wait for me to approve it at all, you can just jump in.

HOWEVER! You must follow the rules that Gerkuman has set into place! I will not allow godmodding of any character that is not your own without prior approval from the person who RPs that character. You also must post at least a paragraph, as I want this to have some lengthy posts to it. I know, above all things, that workers, technicians and test subjects have a LOT on their minds while they do what they must do, and of course GLaDOS will as well. The Personality Spheres won't have as much detail, but try to squeeze in as much as you can.

I shall begin with the first post, but then I must go back to work; I will be back 3 hours after this post.

Occupation: Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System
History: GLaDOS was created to serve as the computer mainframe for Aperture Science. She watches test subjects through the cameras, can manually operate the miniature turrets, and speak to those who are near her or outside of the room via intercom systems. She is now in her beta stages, ever-evolving due to what she sees.

Name: John
Age: 30
Occupation: Head Technician
History: John has worked for Aperture Science since it had been created years ago. He was the head of the GLaDOS project, and has seen it from start to finish. He is also the developer of Core Spheres, different spheres with the ability to give GLaDOS different emotions. He allowed a bit of space in each to be programmed by GLaDOS herself based on what she experiences watching over the workers and test subjects throughout the Aperture Science building.

"She's finished!" said John as he finished hooking the final part of a machine to the large device that was hanging from the ceiling. He stood back as it booted up, the machine swinging a bit from the weight hanging, the little round CPUs on the top beginning to spin around. Eventually, the light on the head-like part of the machine lit up, and a voice spoke.

"GLaDOS version 1.0 Power-On Self-Test Complete. Gathering directives from database... complete. Gathering voice directives..." its voice turned to a soft woman's voice as it continued, "...complete."

"Very good," said John. "GLaDOS, what is the status of the Aperture Science Laboratories?"

GLaDOS immediately responded, "The status is optimum efficiency. All testchambers are working correctly, as are the machines working inside of them. The next test subject, as seen in the database that you have installed into me, is ready to begin his testing."

"Very good," said John again, grinning. "Alright, boys, we did it!"

((Now a worker can come in and view GLaDOS, give thoughts, and try to talk to other workers or John. Back to work I go!))

Occupation: Head Technician's Assistant
History: Richard has been John's friend ever since he started working at the Apeture Science Lab. He assists John in most project but mostly he just works at his desk, doing whatever needs be done. He Had just gotten back from his vacation when John had finished GLaDOS.

Richard had walked into the Lab and saw the huge contraption now know GLaDOS hanging from the seeing.

"Jeez... what the hell is that thing John?" Richard said in a confused tone.

"I know the projects we work on are big but this is kind of dramatic don't you think...?"

He looked at GLaDOS with a kind of scared look on his face.

"It's not gonna shoot a laser at me or anything like that is it?"

"No, of course not," responded John with the slightest trace of an amused smirk. "GLaDOS is completely harmless. She will learn emotions and in time be able to manage the entire lab on her own. Of course, we will still be here to do maintenance on everything, since she cannot do this on her own." He paced over to a computer on the wall, which detailed GLaDOS' specifications. "She has no weapons whatsoever, so it is completely impossible for her to hurt you in any way."

"Well thats a relief," sighed Richard.

"Although I still can't shake the feeling that something really bad is going to happen... Oh well so sense in worrying about your imagination."

Richard beckoned John to follow him.

"Comeon lets go get something to eat before all the good stuff is gone."

"Ha ha, let's go!" John raced out of the room, closing the door behind him.

GLaDOS was left alone in the room.

"Accessing database... test subject, welcome to the Aperture Science testing area..." she began her spiel that was programmed into her. With no cores installed on her structure, she was unable to do more than speak with a monotone that sounded almost like a school teacher droning on about a boring lecture.

Occupation: Personality Core
History: Dim blue sphere was created for the sole purpose of giving the robot, GLaDOS, one of it's first emotions, to be intelligent, although the sphere for some reason only list ingredients for cake when disconnected. This must be investigated further.

"Ingredients-

One and a half cup margarine, and or butter.

One cup sugar.

3/4 cups sugar..."

The personality core was rambling off again. Until someone came to either break it or install it into GLaDOS, it wasn't going to shut up soon. Random technicians walked by until a lower worker picked it up and began to carry it to the main operating room.

Richard sits down at a table and puts his food down.

"So John what did you get... or more importantly what did I get?"

Richard looks at his food questionably.

"Jeez what the heck are they serving at this place...?"

John took out the lunch he had made at home; he was always wary of the food that the Aperture Science lunch staff served. It was as if they never really cared about the workers, just about their wage.

And perhaps they have every right, thought John. Their pay stinks, and they're not happy about it. But what are you going to do when you have to take care of a multi-million dollar company? He opened his lunchbox and took out a couple of sandwiches, a bag of chips, and bottled water. He took out one of the sandwiches, and began eating.

"Hey John did ya here, Apature has invented a new type of cake."

Richard reaches into his pocket and takes out a piece of paper.

"Its called... The 'Vanilla Crazy Cake'... what ever the hell that is."

Richard wonders what it tastes like...

As the Scholar was dragged past the eating room, he heard Vanilla Crazy Cake, and began to change the list. "First ingredient- ten cups vanilla. Second, one cup fish shaped dirt. Third, one cup dirt shaped dirt..."

Name: Personality core 2-Curiosity
Age: Manufactured two months ago
occupation: personality core
History: Personality core 2-Curiosity was meant to help GLaDOS develop. The personality core 1- Intelligence was very standard and lacked a learning function. Therefor curiosity core was invented to help GLaDOS learn new things and become the perfect A.I. (artificial intelligence). The core however becomes too curious without the intelligence core, so it is basically an infant that can speak without intelligence. Its appearance is a white sphere with light pink lines around it.

The tiny sphere was delivered to the Aperture Science building on schedule, however the delivery man could no longer stand its unrelenting questions so the core was simply left at the front door of the facility. Soon the scientist going in and out of the facility began to get annoyed by its unending questions and soon one of them moved the core to the intelligence core, where it would remain until someone brought it to its proper place. The core then began to scan its surroundings and saw another core, the curiosity core soon became intrigued and could not resist to talk.
" Hello their, who are you?" Said the curiosity core in a high pitched voice
" Whats your name?"
" What are you doing?"
" What is that object saying?"
" What is vanilla?"
