"Huff... huff... these blasted walls don't give..." Nyhroma was at wit's end. He had tried to intersect with one of the others he knew were about, but every path he took was a dead end.
He was bad at mazes.
Finally, he had just begun to slam the walls with psychic force, trying to use his mind to break it, but only managing to crack it slightly, before it frosted again. Ty's greatest strength was in the range of powers he could use, but if he used them too much, it really drained him.

"It's time Nyhroma took a rest." He muttered, turning the music player off for a sec and landing back on his feet, psychic power no longer available. He took the white, all-covering cloak off and stuffed it back into his backpack. He switched his music player back on, and, making sure the wireless earbuds were still stuck in his ears, turned the music to something calm and peaceful.
He could feel the healing effect of it working, and his strength slowly returning.

"If I am gonna get anywhere, I'm gonna need an edge... got it!" He thought, then began shouting:
"ANYBODY! HELP! WHERE AM I, WHAT HAPPENED!? HEEEEELP!!~"

"I hate to deceive anybody, but at this rate, I'll be stuck in here for ages." He thought to himself, then continued crying for help like a random person caught in the crossfire would.

"Do you hear someone...screaming?" Tsunami asked Zero. "...Someone needs help! Come on, Zero!" Tsunami skated down the hall with ease, still clinging to Zero's hand. She took seemingly random turns until she found Nyhroma. "Are you alright?!" she asked.

Ty whipped around and jumped. Although he knew they were coming, he didn't expect them to come so soon.
"At least it makes me less of a target to them..." He thought slyly, finishing the surprised motion by slipping and landing on his rump, hard.

"I... ow. I'm not hurt, but where am I? I was trying to find my family in the city nearby when this large ice-thing came up and surrounded me. I've been running for who-knows how long, and... *sigh* I guess I panicked..." He tried to stand up, still sore (although the effects of his power with the calm music his player was making that would-be bruise heal) and managed to get back up on his feet.

"My name is Ty. Ty Cruze." With this, he took one of the wireless earbuds out of his ears and pocketed it, and held out his hand, rather uncertainly.

Michael jumped and summoned his assault rifle instinctively. "Whoa! Thanks a lot, man!" He laughed and ran as fast as could to the source of the yell. It took him a minute or so, but he found a small group of two or three people huddled there. He sat quietly, only watching and hiding behind a wall.

Aletheia, drained of alot of energy, was sitting at the center of the maze. "While those brats and the rest are trying to get out, I'll escape with back-up... Fighting 5 adversaries at once isn't a smart idea." She felt the vibrations from the movement of her prisoners. "Jumbled and confused..." She grinned maliciously. She just had an idea for making more fun. She echoed her voice.

"Can you trust him?" She was addressing Zero and Tsunami. She continued. "What if he betray's you?" She ended with another laugh.

Verite tried to follow the missle carrying man, but kept on slipping. "Damn this ice..." She couldn't connect with the sand. It was frozen way too deep. "I can't fight in here...." She made her way down the passage and found Zero, Tsunami, and another young man she didn't recognize.

Zero's eyes narrowed at the man they just met. She could tell he was hiding something, but it probably wasn't anything bad for them. Aletheia's announcement actually relieved Zero. This guy was definitely hiding something, but he was definitely on their side. She smiled meekly up at him.

Michael heard another voice that joined the two unfamiliar ones. He risked a peak out the corner of the wall and decided it would be best to stay as hidden as possible. One ally was not enough to trust three others who you know even less than your 'friend'. Besides, his weapons weren't suited for multi-man assassinations, minus his rocket launcher and grenades, but they weren't precise enough, and they also didn't have the power that normal variations would.

He didn't know why, but he had this odd urge to laugh at the proclamation that rang out. He was familiar with the type of person who used psychological attacks, and knew that they tried hard in their efforts to not have to lift a finger to tear people apart.
Still, if the tricks were left to sit too long...

"I can sense the area around me, even what I can't see. But since I don't do well in the cold and ice is difficult to feel through, I might only be able to come up with her approximate location, if anything," Zero whispered. She gripped Tsunami more tightly and closed her eyes. She scowled.

"I don't know if it's that woman, but there is someone three walls ahead of us. Let's try to go there. Tsunami, can you mark our place in the ice here so we don't get lost?"

"Of course," Tsunami replied, cutting a line in the ice as deep as she could. "That's enough." Should we really chase after Aletheia? She may be extremely weak, but still...We'll be fine. All of us together can take her down. "Zero. I have an idea of an attack that Aletheia can't block in her weakened condition," Tsunami whispered.

"I'm thinking that I can get rid of the dome, but I can't just shatter it because then the shards might kill someone. I can't melt it because then everyone would dorwn. So, I can change the dome into a huge ball and throw it at Aletheia. She won't have enough energy to block it, but I'll need you guys to distract her enough that she can't dodge it," Tsunami whispered in response. "Because if that attack goes to waste, I'm not sure I'll have enough energy to come up with another attack.

As they walked, Apocalypse held up his hand, and stopped walking.
"Aha! He survived!" He jogged over to a man in a vest top and jeans, with a jacket over his shoulder, who was staring blankly fowards.
"Waylon Carter... better known as Finn, am I right?"
The man turned around, a crackle of lightning appearing round his fist. He grinned as he saw Apocalypse.
"Woooohooo! Sam! You're alive!"
"Better still, I caused it."

I dunno who this chicka is, but if you can get me close enough, I can get my speaker to blare loud enough to distract her, her mom, and anybody she ever knew."
The metaphor was a bit unusual, but Ty hoped he made the point.

Verite followed them closely. "If they don't succeed, I'll have to finish it..." She went through the maze, always staying a few steps behind the girls and their new ally Ty. Walking wasn't pleasent, since there was no way to walk and not slip. She had to make make-shift ice-picks for her sandals. She looked up. The Dome was beginning to melt. "It must be morning already..." She had to get them out. Otherwise, it wouldn't be pretty.

The sun was out and Aletheia smiled. "Well... this was fun..." She used her new powers over the air to gently carry herself out of the maze. She looked onward to the dome to see that it was melting. "Hah..." She smiled half-pleased. "They... probably won't live through that." She draggedherself back to the city.

((Note: Now that its day, Aletheia can control the air INSTEAD of the water. Verite's power has also switched from Earth to Fire.))

Just to check, Zero stopped and closed her eyes to sense her surroundings again.

"What...? I can't sense her. Either she moved or.... she left us here."

Then Zero felt a big, fat drop of water hit her head. She flinched and peered upward at the light slowly growing through the ice ceiling. The dome was melting with the arrival of the morning sun.

"...I think we're in trouble."

"I can...um..." Tsunami was a little hesitant to answer. What if she was wrong? If she could change water to ice, couldn't she also change its state to air? She experimented with the large drop of water falling towards her. It evaporated, but did she have enough energy to do that to the whole dome? She wasn't sure, but it was the only solution she could think of on the spot. Maybe if she could compact it into a smaller object... "Zero, I need you to help me. I will turn all this water into air, but there is too much of an area to cover with the dome here. If we both compact the dome into a ball as we originally planned to do, I can turn the leftover ice into water and all the water into air. But once the dome is gone, the whole maze will start melting. Ty, I am charging you with making sure EVERYONE gets out of here safely. Do you think you can handle that?"

"Pretty powerful?" Nightmare asked Finn. "No. I am very powerful!"

He looked around for a second. There had to be more people hidden around... there was that one guy from before, but they talked as if there were more.

"So, who else is there besides us? It'd be good to know how many numbers there are."

"I think we should..." Tsunami hesitated. If they didn't look for Verite, there was a chance she wouldn't get out of the maze before it melts, but if they spent too much time looking for her, none of them would get out. "We should start compacting the dome. I'm sure Verite can find her way out with all the holes in the walls Ty will make."

Ty saw what was happening, and couldn't let it go on. His was a secret that he couldn't let be known, even to other gifteds, and that meant nothing even remotely close should be suspected.

"Woah, woah, WOAH! What do you mean I will make!? You guys may have supernatural powers, but just because I got caught up in this mess doesn't mean I do! I just suggested we find somebody else who can to clear a path! ...as far as survival goes, I've been an expert ever since I can remember, but I'm no superhero..."

He looked around again, this time trying not to act nervous, but if anything, only managed to act how he also felt: sad. He had remembered some nasty memories that he hadn't meant to while he spoke.
"Keep it together, dude. It's been ages, there is no point in remembering the fallen..." If he had began to show any emotions, it passed through his face quickly.

"I say you two look for a way to get this fixed, I'll try to get the others and we'll bust a way out."

Verite felt the sun's rays hit her being. "My beautiful sun." She smiled. "Bye bye dome..." She jumped and surronded herself with flames. The ice melted at a frightening pace. She saw the girls and Ty from above. "Hey guys! I'll make an exit. FOLLOW ME!" She fired a blast through the ice, which left a gaping hole to the outside.

"Verite!" Zero cried. Well, that certainly made things easier. What was left of the solid ice began to shake.
"We have to hurry! It's collapsing!"

She grabbed Tsunami's hand again and ran as fast as she could towards the exit.

They never found the man who fired the missle... Sure, he attacked them, but Zero silently hoped that he was going to be all right.

Lightningbolt's eyes flickered open again. He got up. He had everything, and the sleep had helped him.
He was inside a great dome of ice, with walls either side. A maze. Of ice.
Oh shit.
He heard voices. He used his speed to slow down time so he could track them, and then sped off to join them. He soon found himself near and exit. The maze had begun to collapse. He could see his fellow Protectors in the distance, but he was too weak. He smiled, knowing it would be alright, as the ice crashed down beside him...

In Zero's pocket, the two way buzzed.
"This is a pre recorded message from:Lightningbolt. Recorded-((States 5 years before Apocalypse attack-I cant for the life of me remember what year it is)). Hi guys. I programmed this into here in the event of my...demise. I hope you have the right two way. As I've stated, I'm dead, so it's up to you guys to continue my-our work.
Stay strong. Fight for justice.
And now, my final will and testament. I leave control of the Protectors to Shruriken, in the hope he will lead you all into a new era.

Finn turned away.
"Nightmare, time to go. It is time we payed the Protectors a little visit." He began to stride off, and Finn followed, turning his head to Nightmare and mouthing 'Maybe next time, eh.'

They were safe in the desert sands, but the dome had completely collapsed. Zero stared down at the two-way radio with wide, disbelieving eyes. Her hands shook around the radio that had given her the worst news that she could ever remember. She felt another prescence among the giant chunks of melting ice. It was a body, but it was.... lifeless....

"Li... LIGHTNING! LIGHTNINGBOLT!!" she screamed as the scrambled, slipping and sliding, above a wet pile of ice where she sensed the body. She feebly grabbed at a block of ice, but it was a futile effort because of the slippery surface and the sheer weight of the block. There must have been at least a ton of ice between Zero and Lightning. After failing once again, she fell and slipped all the way down back into the sand. Tears started streaming down her face.

"...Lightning..."

Ty stood in shock as the girl broke down crying for the comrade he had never seen. They had given him the task to make sure everybody was safe, (nonchalantly, he was sure,) but he still felt that this could have been avoided... that it was his fault on some level.

"D...damn..." he muttered.
Yet another innocent lost, their story never to be told... the great equalizer has been greedy recently.
Before he could go into a funk, he realized what they were missing. "...where is that other person? The one who made this maze."

"Long gone by now," Tsunami said, shakily. Lightningbolt...Dead. And she barely even knew him. She furiously split the ice down the middle and moved the two chunks off Lightningbolt. His crushed body was revealed to all. "He at least deserves a proper burial."

Nightmare smiled. The Protectors. She had been itching to use her powers. And with Lightningbolt gone, they stood no chance of winning. Nightmare strode behind Apocalypse and Finn.

Zero dropped down in the sand and stared at Lightninbolt's broken corpse, to deep in despair to even begin crying again.

Three years ago, when Zero was laying unconcious with no memory at the entrance of The Protector's hideout, Lightningbolt had been the first to find her. He was their leader and Zero had looked up to him like a father.

And now he was gone.

With two little girls and one adult left as the remaining original Protectors, and at least three formidable enemies after them, what the hell were they going to do?

"Should I...? Should I help them now? Should I really admit I have powers like theirs? I feel so bad about this, even though it wasn't my fault..."

Ty swallowed, trying to make the right decision. These people had helped him when he originally came to fight them all off, yet even still, he didn't know any of them. Finally, he made up his mind.

He swung his backpack off his back and kneeled down on one foot, pulling out a small shovel, and began to dig quickly.
"If we aren't going to to much else...the least I can do is help dig a grave. Could one of you bring over a piece of the ice?" Ty also pulled out a bound sac from his pack as well, and set it down beside himself.

Apocalypse smiled.
"I sense...death. One of their ranks. Hmmmm." He strode off towards the wreckage of the ice maze. Reaching it, he frowned. Something wasn't right... but then he saw them.
" There they are...no. NO!" He yelled, seeing Lightningbolt's corpse. "FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!"

Finn looked worried.
"Oh shit." He said to Nightmare. "Lightningbolt's dead, but not by Sam's hand...Sam's gonna kill himself!"

((Hmmm... well, ace-in-the-hole time seems to be approaching. Before anybody asks, I proofed it with Aya, who said it's okay. I'll do my best to make sure I DON'T need to use it, but I am really proud of this trick! XD))
Ty had dug quite a bit, the grave not yet deep enough, but just about wide and long enough.

When the newcomers approached from a distance, he became wary, but the exclamations from them both (and what they said) set his internal alarm off.
"Who are they, do you know them, and are they a threat!" He barked. Ty had quite an interesting past, but the need for authority had led him to be a bit headstrong and forceful under stress. It was now showing.

Zero turned to stare at the newcomers who made such an outburst. Her orange eyes focused on the furious blonde man with the tattered costume.

Before last night Zero had never met anyone outside of the Protector's hideout. However, Lightningbolt had told her stories about his "old friend" Sam Arrow. She sensed deep hatred and despair radiating from him; deeper than anything she could ever imagine. It felt like the negative emotion could tear the world apart.

"...It's the Apocalypse."

Taken aback by the comment, Ty had to think for a second.
"...When you say "the Apocalypse," I assume you mean what we are already living in... please tell me you aren't describing somebody with that word..."

Ty's hand slowly moved from the shovel to the device on his hip, turning it back on and checking that the wireless jack was still in.
"Please let these guys not be all that..."

Finn left Nightmare to deal with the situation, and rose up in the air.
"Woo-hoo!" He yelled, before sending lightning bolts towards Zero and Ty. " See how you like that!"
