I thought we were talking about my restaurant...now were talking about my car? You really know how to confuse a guy don't you Mr. Lawyer?"Although what he didn't know is that even though Phoenix can get information completely off subject, it still seems to help him out some how..."But then again...now that I think about it...that is all I needed it for Mr. Lawyer, so good job! How about we go back to my restaurant, and I'll treat you all to some free food?"As you can tell, he's getting desperate to hide the truth...

Kotama nodded"I could use one of those..."He said with a slight chuckle"...but I bet there one of a kind aren't they?"He said, still chuckling"Ms. Fey..."he was now going to switch the subject, and you can tell, he was also stalling for Phoenix for a bit longer"...What's the story you and Phoenix Wright there? What made him decide that he should work for you?"Even as serious as Kotama was, he was still fond of messing around slightly"After all, I see that your the better attorney here then him..."He said with a laugh

(( XD lol haha, Make it do something! you made the car do something! XD I wasn't expecting the car to come up, but you made a good point in it existing, so if you can do that, I'm sure you can make the poster of some value XD Take it this way, when you present it, were getting back to the subject about his restaurant, instead of his car, k? Then Phoenix would start talking to him, then asking the obvious question..."...What else did you need that restaurant for?..." Then Zak'll say something, and probably have the slip of the tongue. I dunno, maybe you could fill in the gaps? Anyway, your smart XD I know you'll think of something ^-^))

Zak knew that he couldn't say he's not hiding it, well...because that just wouldn't cut it. He seemed a bit tense, but for obvious reasons"Yes there is, and you got that part already, you know theres more then one reason to start that restaurant...except the car..."He sighed as he continued"...Will you do all that it takes to uncover the truth, Mr. Lawyer?...Well listen, I know you mean good, but you just can't butt in to peoples lives like that, its considered very rude...and why are you so curious? After all, aren't you on that one case with the Detective, and that has nothing to do with this...right?"He was beginning to frustrate himself, making himself confused, and flustered with his own words"So thats all I have to say! whether you like it or not! Because he wouldn't want me to talk about this in front of you! He warned me! He'd kill me the next chance he gets if I told you!" He raised a brow and kept his arms crossed, still slightly confused, not realizing what he just said"...And thats all I've got to say to you, Mr. Lawyer..."

Kotama nodded"Yes...with those skills, you could make a lawyers job much easier...considering the fact you can channel the dead, it would make Phoenix's job over there much, much easier..."He chuckled at the thought of it"...Actually you could save the world from ever mistaking somebody for murder again...not that I would enjoy that personally, because that would ruin my job..."He wanted to laugh at that, but he decided not to for reasons unknown

Phoenix realized that he really shouldn't be doing this, that there was no point... Wait, what had he just said!? "Who would kill you?" he said before thinking about what he was doing... My specialty, he thought.

Maya shook her head. "Spirit channeling is not that simple. Even if I was able to channel all of those victims, which I can't, they don't always know who killed them. Like Gregory Edgeworth... He was killed in his sleep. He didn't know who his real murderer was." She shrugged. "I don't really have that much channeling power. I mean, yeah, I'm good, but..." She trailed off. I probably could, now that I think about it. I don't do channellings unless I need to; I've hurt too many people because I didn't have any restraint!

Kotama smirked slightly"Well there you have it...Just channel people that were awake at the time, It should make things much easier..."He sighed, he had a point, but it could only work if the person doing the channeling was very skilled..."I know its not that easy, but if you do it right, then it works out just as you planned..."Kotama grinned slightly at the comment"And don't you think that every time your on a case is perilous and dangerous? shouldn't that motivate your spiritual powers a little more...because if you do, you not only get the job done, but you also get paid sooner, and probably much more for the effort..."Now Kotama's gone overboard with kindness, that you could see he was getting tired of it, but if it was something to do, he'd do it, also, you could tell he meant it, but again, its not him to do such a thing...

Hinaru was well...confused...Psyche Locks over there, an interesting conversation over there, where should he go?! Well, if he's the student of Phoenix...then he should probably go over to him, and thjeres two reasons for that, 1:He's Phoenix's student, 2: He's scared of Kotama. So he walked a little closer to Phoenix and Zak, hoping to be noticed...yet not...he thought it really didn't matter, but if he was noticed, then he'd have to join in...oh well! Then he'd be able to show Phoenix a thing or two!...wait...

((Grr...I need to update that Court Record! not enough time though! I'm leaving! so just pretend theres more people/ evidence...but more people XD ))

Kotama sighed and shook his head"I'm sorry I have to say this but...As my duty as a prosecutor...you are under arrest for the suspicion of poisoning a young girl..."Zak jumped back towards Hinaru and Phoenix"W-WHAT!? What did I do?!"Hinaru looked at him, still seeing that one lock on him, because for some reason, it wasn't coming off"Hey Zak...you still intent on hiding that secret?"Zak nodded"Yes...I have to, also, I have something a bit more important in mind...like...WHERE THE HECK AM I GOING TO GET A LAWYER!?"just then, Kotama started to drag Zak away"Your lucky I didn't call the police..."Kotama stopped moving, then looked back at Phoenix"I'll give you the details later Phoenix...but for now, just try not to make a mess of things, alright?"Just then, all the locks went right back on Zak, and faded away, as he got dragged out by Kotama, then Hinaru looked at Phoenix, then Maya"So...um...What now? The only thing we can do for Pearl in there is just wait and hope she gets better...and I guess the only thing left is to get ready for court tomorrow...unless you have another idea?"

Phoenix shook his head, suddenly realizing how worn out he was. "He's going to be in the detention center, so we'll be able to talk to him again." Then he glanced at Maya. "Besides, we found enough evidence to make... well, a crack in the prosecution's case, at least. We should get some rest."

Hinaru nodded"I agree, we'll be needing as much rest as we can get if were going against Kotama..."Hinaru said with a calm sigh"Come on, I'll drive you back to your office, alright?"And without giving them much time to think, he dragged both of them to his car, and put them in. He got in to the drivers seat, and drove on. He knew where the office was, so it wasn't any problem, and it only took five minutes to get there, as to twenty on foot! So when he got there, he opened the doors for Phoenix and Maya, and let them out. He looked up to Phoenix, and grinned"Good luck tomorrow! I'll be sure to keep notes on what you do, OK?"He said with a slight laugh, then he looked over to Maya"And I hope your cousin gets better soon...I'll be sure to drop by as soon as I can."Hinaru said with a...sad grin? Anyway, he waved goodbye, got in his car, and drove off to his house.

District Court Defendant Lobby No. 1

(Whew...Today will be my first day in court...not my first trial, but actually sitting at the bench! Its so nerve racking...I think I'll explode!...OK, that would be messy, let's try to not do that...but still, now imagine if I was actually taking this case? Then I think I would explode!) Hinaru was excited and nervous, being right there, next to his inspiration, Phoenix Wright, and seeing him in court, right nest to him...who wouldn't enjoy that?"Hmmm...I wonder where he is... and where our Client i-"Just then, the scruffy voiced detective came in, with his Gumshoe grin"Hey, pal! Just wanted to wish you good luck in court today!...sure they think I'm the crook, and I'm only saying good luck because of that, but I mean it!"Hinaru was surprised at what he heard, and just looked at him with a raised brow"U-um...S-sorry Detective...bu-"Just then, he got cut off by Gumshoe"Hey what a second, pal! Your not my lawyer...and I wished you good luck and everything..."Gumshoe now had his sad expression (Because everything of Gumshoe's is his XD everything is unique on him! XD) and Hinaru felt a little bad, but he wanted to laugh"Well...um...Phoenix is going to be here soon, so don't worry...I'm just going to be helping him, thats all!"Gumshoe still didn't look to satisfied, but he dealt with it"Well, he'd better be here soon, pal! Because if he isn't, trials gonna start without him! Then I'm gonna to get the death penalty without a fair trial! Then that will be on his mind till the day he dies, pal! You tell him that when he comes back here when the trials over and when I'm already dead! "Hinaru gave up, he sighed, and just waited for Phoenix, he was surprised that Phoenix could live this long with a guy like that

Phoenix saw Gumshoe talking to Hinaru. They both looked... excited, he guessed. Phoenix walked over to them. "Sorry I'm late, guys," he said. "Listen, Gumshoe, I know this sounds crazy, but I'm just making sure I know. You didn't kill anyone, right?" He asked all of his clients this question, to make sure he knew they weren't keeping secrets.

They were going to start without you!"There was a slight pause, and he calmed himself down"Sorry about that...I guess I'm just excited and nervous, thats all."he said with a slight laugh. Then when Phoenix asked the question, Gumshoe answered immediately"Yes...I-I-I mean no! No I didn't! Are you crazy!? Why would you ask me that!Come on, pal...you know me better then that."Gumshoe just sighed, then Hinaru looked up to Phoenix"Well...non of those locks showed...so he must be telling the truth, right?" Hinaru said in a calm tone, which was unusual, since, well, he's going to court, but then again, he's just trying to make sure that he doesn't put the impression that he's crazy to the people around him, and to Gumshoe, who's already as nervous as can be. Then Gumshoe walked a bit closer to Phoenix, and spoke in a sort of sad tone"Listen, Pal, I'm sorry I've caused you this much trouble... so maybe, after you get me out of the clear, I could treat you to some food! I promise you that much OK, pal?" He said, now grinning, and ready to go

Phoenix smiled and nodded. "Alright, just making sure." The bailiff called them into the courtroom. "Alright... it's show time." They headed into the courtroom.

Hinaru walked in with Phoenix, as Gumshoe sat down in the defendant's chair. The people were talking, then the Judge slammed down his gavel, and spoke"Court is in session for the trial of Detective Dick Gumshoe..."Just then it occurred to him on what he just said"...Wait...so its him were having trial for?! I never thought that was even going to happen! He seems so harmless!"There was a slight pause as he cleared his throat"Yes...well, anyway, are the two sides ready?"The Judge said, now waiting to hear if they were ready or not"The prosecution is ready Your Honor, just as always."Kotama said with a confident, and ready tone"And how about the defense?"The Judge said, now waiting for there response.

The Judge nodded"Good, good to see that everyone's here...and it seems you've got someone else with you Mr. Wright?"Hinaru grinned, and spoke up"Yes, I now, its a bit surprising, but Mr. Wright here said I could come up here with him, you see, I'm a new attorney, and I'm here to take some pointers, and get the feel of it"Hinaru grinned, and so did the Judge"Now thats what I like to hear! The youth of today ready to learn!"The Judge said with to much enthusiasm, then he cleared his throat once again, and spoke"Yes, well, Mr. Shubin, your opening statement please."Kotama nodded, and grinned"Nothing pleases me more then starting it off, Your Honor. Now then, the prosecution here, has some things to state, and to clarify..."Then the Judge spoke"...Yes well what is it? Is it important?"Kotama chuckled slightly"Your intellect still amazes me Your Honor...anyway, as I was saying, what I have to state, is indeed the truth...and that is motive!"The Judge now looked really focused on this now"Indeed! This is important! Please, Mr. Shubin, continue!"Kotama nodded"Well, the motive that the defendant had was, a few years back, about fourteen or fifteen years back, when he was still in uniform, and not a detective...You see, the victim, John Grant, used to be part of a Police Corps, and was Chief of it for awhile, and the defendant there, was in the corps for a long time, and was...experienced...as most would say, but the victim didn't think so, every time the defendant would go up to see if he could become a detective, the thing he wanted to be most, the victim, shot him down every time, for two years in fact, until he left and joined the Police Station he's at now, where he was finally promoted to being a detective. But thats not where he wanted to be, he wanted to go back to where he first was, but couldn't...and as revenge for not letting him be a detective at his favorite Police Department, he murdered the victim, John Grant! Also, if he would have stayed there, his payment would be through the roof, instead of what he gets now, so more motive is there."Kotama smirked and chuckled, then the Judge spoke"Well, that certainly seems like motive to me! What does the defense has to say about that?"

Phoenix shook his head. "Firstly, why would Gumshoe... er, the defendant, kill someone for turning him down for a job he got somewhere else anyway? Also, my client has been a detective for years. Why wait this long to get revenge?" Good try, Kotama, but your motive is full of holes, thought Phoenix.

Well if thats the case, then allow me to fill them in. I'm sorry that I wasn't clear...he didn't 'leave' the Police Department like I stated, it was more like...forced to leave, fired, his pink slip was showing, any way you want to put it, after the first year of trying, he got fired, and for that second year he continued to try, and for one whole year, he was out of the job...its amazing he is still alive right now..."Kotama chuckled, and continued"...He also lost his beloved house, which the victim used to own, now being dead, now forcing the defendant to live in what he lives now...which really isn't even considered to be a home."Kotama smirked, and shook his finger at Phoenix"Now try and say that wasn't motive Mr. Wright! Being out of the job for about a year, still begging for his position as a detective, and losing his home to the man who wouldn't give it to him!And now, sure he's a detective, but he gets paid even less then you, Mr. Wright...how do you expect him to pay you for your hard work at being his attorney anyway?"Kotama just shook his head and smirked"Hows that for filling in the holes Mr. Wright! A man that stole everything from him, and wouldn't give anything to him, is indeed, motive to kill the victim!"Kotama had a confident grin on him now, if this didn't count for motive, then he doesn't know what would"As for him finally getting his revenge, the ship they were on, it was a Police Department party, both retired and still in work, and John Grant was the captain, not the owner, just the captain of the ship, and so, that was the perfect chance for the defendant to murder the victim! There would not have been a better time then this! So once again, I state, this is motive, try to find some holes in it Mr. Wright, and I'll congratulate you with some coffee after today's trial"Kotama said with a smirk, although, he was serious about what he said there though, then the Judge spoke"There seems to be nothing more to add to the motivation, so if the defense has anything left to say, the prosecution may call a witness."Kotama was ready and listening to what Phoenix had to say, if Phoenix could find some way through, then Kotama would be surprised, because that would be the first time someone would ever pierce straight through a motivation he presented.

Phoenix looked Kotama right in the eye. "You didn't answer my question. Why wait this long to get revenge? Gumshoe may have been unemployed for a long time, but I'll say it again, that was YEARS ago! He's been a detective here for a long time. And, if Gumshoe did hold a grudge, why for this long? Surely there was a good opportunity earlier than this one."

Well, I wanted to save this for later, but, I might as well just show you..."He pulled out an envelope"...It is made out to the defendant there, requesting that he would come to the party, and the person who sent it to him...was none other then the victim!..."The Judge nodded"We will accept this in to evidence."Then Kotama paused , then sighed slightly"...But I'm still avoiding your question, now aren't I? How rude it may seem, but I'm sure I've already answered it...he didn't have the chance to do it, until this party...you see, the victim called the defendant to his quarters for some unknown reason...and when the defendant did, that was his perfect chance to murder the victim. After all, his prints are on all the weapons. And no, there was no other time, sadly, the Police Department that the two worked at are at least fifty miles apart, and there homes even further, so I doubt there would have been another time...unless you can think of something, Mr. Wright."Kotama smirked, then continued"Now if its alright with the defense, I'd like to call my first witness, it would be one of the Servers on the ship, in fact, it was the one that kept the defendant there so the guards could come in and get him."The Judge nodded, then looked back to Phoenix"Does the defense have any objections to what the prosecution has just said, and to the witness?"

The Judge nodded"Good, good, now Mr. Shubin, please bring in your witness."Kotama nodded"Yes your Honor..."in about two minutes, the next witness came out"Now, witness, name and occupation, please."Kotama said calmly. The witness seemed very nervous and fragile"U-u-u-u-ummm...m-my name is...Kyle....Kyle Sash..."The Judge had a curious look, and spoke"Um...Mr. Shubin, are you sure the witness is alright to testify? He seems sort of...well...fragile."Kotama just grinned"It's alright Your Honor, he came up to me personally, and wanted to testify on his own will, so its all right, Your Honor."The Judge nodded"Very well, now witness, on the night of the murder, what were you doing?"Kyle spoke up in a calm, but nervous tone"U-um...I was serving people, but I was the one who was um...talking...to the other people, to be sure they um...had a um...good time...yeah..."The Judge's eyes widened"You? Talking to everybody? Thats surprisingly hard to believe, but non the less, I guess we'll have to take you by your word."Kyle just grinned slightly, then looked at Phoenix, gave him a kind look, then continued to stand there, then the Judge spoke"Now witness, tell us what you saw at the crime scene, OK? And remember, your under oath, so lying will not be tolerated."Kyle nodded"I um...understand um...Your Honor."

:testimony:

Well um...while I was pleasing the um...partygoers um...I just thought about the captain for a second, so um...

Yeah, we um...we were good friends...so I just thought I should give him a um...a visit, maybe um...maybe just to talk for a bit...

And I guess it was just coincidence, but um...my two best friends, which were also servers there, seemed to have the um...same idea...

So we um...walked up and around the um...the ship, but about um...midway, one of my friends um...left, he um...said he had to go to the bathroom, and we um...waited there for about um...five minutes...

Um...after um...after he came back, it took um...about another um...another five minutes to get there, but when we got there, it was a horrible sight...!

It was the defendant there! It was um...it was horrible! What I saw was incredibly um...incredible! So I told my two friends to go um...to go get the guards and um...I pulled out my knife and um...kept him there...

And thats about it...except um...uh...it seemed like he was sad...like he didn't do it...but you can't believe face's like that anymore!

"Objection!"Kotama just smirked and shook his head"Tsk tsk tsk...Always so quick to jump to conclusions are we? Just think about it Mr. Wright...this testimony isn't a total loss, and sure the witness is mistaken for seeing the defendant 'stab' the victim in the shoulder. But we had made one thing clear, and you yourself helped prove it with saying that 'I wouldn't say he's lying...'...that the defendant indeed held the knife! And don't even put up the fact about the fingerprints being there already...because they could have been planted there by someone else."Kotama chuckled, and continued to speak"But you just agreed subconsciously at the fact that they weren't."he grinned, now fully confident in his victory. He then looked at Kyle and spoke"Did he touch anything else?" Kyle started to think about it"Well...um...he um...he touched the um...the gun, and the um...the knife of course...he also um...touched the um...I think the um...the handkerchief...but he didn't bother with that one very much...also, it seemed he was in a rush about something...um...something important...that may be why he um...why he touched everything..."The Judged blinked and had a curious look"Well witness? What was so important! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!"Kyle started to think again as he spoke"Well...I'm not sure if John...er...I mean the um...the victim..."The Judge interrupted him there"Don't worry, you can call the victim by his real name if you want"the Judge said with a grin, and Kyle nodded"Um...th-thank you...anyway...um...I'm not sure if John told my two friends...um...considering the fact I was closer to him then they were...but um...but he told me something very um...very important..."Kotama then spoke there"Then lets hear it...lets hear you testify..."The Judge nodded"Yes! Please testify to the court about what the victim told you and what it was about...unless the defense has any objections? Do you still think the witness is still unreliable and should not testify?"The Judge asked, eagerly waiting to hear the testimony if Phoenix didn't have any objections

Phoenix felt like he had been punched. Kotama had just taken his words and thrown them in his face. I've got to be more careful... When he heard the judge's question, he immediately suspected a trap. Still, I should probably hear about this... If Kotama prepared this, then it's relevant to the murder. He shook his head. "The defense has no objections to this new testimony."

((Wow, way to pull a fast one, dude! That's one tough prosecutor! 0_o))
