Hubris had completely lost track of what he had been doing. His head to the ground, eyes closed, ears strained, he kept banging at intervals and patterns, trying to figure out if there was a car or something buried under the dirt. He swore he began to hear something louder, getting closer--

Suddenly, Hubris felt a jolt, and, still crouched, he opened his eyes up to see he was no longer in the desert. At that very moment, somebody behind him let out a curse ((profanity, not magic XD)) and he flipped around, still squatting, to see a large group of people, none appearing to be in a good mood, and one looking like he was ready to kill.

"um... Hi?"

Hubris finally stood up. As his coattails fell back into place, a soft clinking could be heard.

"Who am I and what do I want? Hmm...I need to think about that..." he said, his hand stroking his chin in a thoughtful pattern. "Honestly, I really can't say, or rather, just don't know-- to either question."

He chuckled at his own joke, not because it was funny, but because he couldn't remember if he had ever read the story, and yet knew the metaphor.

"Walt. There's no need for the barrier. If he dies, it won't be my responsibility." said Valox arrogantly. There's always another time, and he won't attack me as long as I pose as Fox.

"I can keep my word. The kid over there can keep his word." pointing at Racloon, he walked over towards the side of the laboratory and leaned against it, fading away into invisibility. Hubris? Not one of my targets apparently. Looking at the situation, I may be able to sneak off the death of Racloon. And anyway, what's his life to Walt?

Walt suddenly heard a whisper in his right ear, the voice of Valox. He was right beside him, invisible. "Racloon Cameron is the son of Fox Cameron, an assassin who was in charge of Ordeath, a group of assassins. I got rid of him to become the leader. Racloon is being used by Fox's loyalists to rid me, a plan which they never intended to succeed in."

"There's nothing to explain, and you'll need to answer a question fast enough." he faded back to visibility, still in the form of Fox. "Who's in charge of Black Mesa? Is he or she still alive? Where are they?"

He tried to aim his gun, but kept hesitating. It wasn't easy to aim at someone who looked like his father. Even though he was Racloon's sworn enemy, he had no willpower to. Cursing, he and pushed his pistol right onto his right temple. "If I can't kill you, I won't have a reason to live!" Tears streamed down his face, and his hand tightened around the gun.

"Ha! Do you think I know, Valox? And I would seriously put the gun down, because right about now..." A wire drops from above and hits Valox, giving him a nasty electric shock and making him drop the gun. I pull out my own gun, and aim it at Valox. "I honestly liked you Valox. It's quite a shame."

Oh ****! What the hell was that!?! Turning around, he saw a bloody mess. A young man laid on the ground, his eyes staring sightlessly ahead in misery. A visible and bloody hole in his head seeped out blood. Racloon died. A sad story to a sad life. And is it now my turn?

"Shit!" Walt shouted. "The guy didn't have to take his own life. ...Put that gun away, Nicholas. I don't want anyone else to die." He let the barrier down, and aimed his staff at Nicholas, casting a small forcefield around Valox in case Nicholas would shoot anyway. Walt had forgotten about the new guy for the moment.

Hubris had been standing there, watching things unfold in slight bemusement. When the stressed man shot himself, he jumped, but wasn't surprised. He had seen people lose their spirits and will to live before. Still, this was a new twist. "How tragic... but it was doomed to be, I think."

"S-so, what do we do with the body? We can't really leave it outside to attract any beasts, nor can we leave it to rot in here..."

Walt was shaken up. It happened again. Memories came flooding back, and he couldn't stop them. The reasons why he was arrested.
He was on a fishing trip with his friend. The man was going to marry Walt's former girlfriend, who he loved. Walt was angry, but happy for his friend at the same time. He didn't know whether to kill him or to congratulate him on his happiness. The friend then pulled out a gun.
"Whoa! What are you doing?" Walt asked.
"I am ending it all. Right here. Right now." Without thinking, Walt pulled out his own gun.
"You don't have to do this," he said, pointing his gun at his best friend.
"Appearantly, I do." Walt closed his eyes, his hands tightened on the trigger. He heard a gunshot, and opened his eyes to see his friend fall in the water and die.
Walt shivered at the memory, then snapped back to reality. "Put the gun down," he said again to Nicholas. "A-and the body...What will we do with it?" ((Long Post.))

"I'll take care of it." Valox transformed back into his original form, staring at the corpse. I was supposed to save him from a cycle of death. I failed. "I know where to bury him. The problem is, it might take a while to get there." He got up, dusting off his pants, and walked towards Racloon's body. Kneeling on the ground, he searched the body, finding a small gem. "That's where it was all along." he muttered before pocketing it. He must have stolen it from them. Typical of him. This gem is worth more than money. But, that is kind of sentimental.

Hubris thought he would take a gamble and try to get in good with as many people as he could while he was with their party. "Best thing to do in a situation like this is to NOT get them to dislike you."
He stepped forward toward Valox, leaving enough distance between them in case the kid tried something, but close enough so that he could talk casually and not have to raise his voice.

"If you need some help, I'd be glad to go along with you." He said calmly. "I like your secret base, but I've been outdoors for so long that I can't stand being closed in like this. Makes me nervous..."

"How can I help?" Walt asked. He looked pale because of remembering things he never wanted to, but he wasn't going to let anyone think he was unwilling to help out anyway. ((Pretty much, guy who wants to kill Valox committs suicide, so they're going to dispose of the body and clean the blood, and a new guy named Hubris found the lab.))

"Argh... this is heavy..." muttered Valox as he rolled the body over, revealing a pool of blood. With a sigh, he snapped his fingers and the blood faded away. "That'll solve the problem until it smells or someone steps in it." Come to think of it, it isn't really a solution.

Then, the boy faded away, and in his place, the same man he turned into, Fox, was there. He carried the body with surprising ease to himself towards the entrance of the bedroom, leaving him there. "I wouldn't rid his body yet. Anyone have a camera?" I'm NOT that depraved, but I need evidence that he's dead.

Walt pointed his staff, and made the bucket of sulfiric acid warp to a random corner of the lab. "There you go." Walt had completely ignored Valox's request for a picture with Racloon's dead body, since he didn't have anything on him except his staff and his clothes, anyway.

After the reformation, Valox faded back into his true form stared at Nicholas. "I'm gonna need to go back there. He's dead. The evidence of his death is what I need." Taking out the gem, he pointed at it and said, "This isn't enough." After all, with his death, the remnants will be taken care of too easily.

"And if you're still not convinced, I can always disguise the body as something else beforehand. Its too easy."

"Why do you need to prove Racloon is dead?" Walt asked. "What good will it do?" He filled a glass with water with hand magic right in front of Hubris. "You may drink that." Walt still didn't know what was with the gem, but he was going to figure things out. He didn't want to tell those guys, but, if he went into any towns, he'd be recognized and arrested again. Walt wanted a darn good reason to take that risk before doing anything stupid.

Hubris took the water and drank. His mouth was dry for some reason, but the water was very fresh, and helped greatly.
"I'll have to look into why my head acted up during that teleport... he pondered to himself.

"The kid may have personal reasons." Hubris said thoughtfully. "After all, there seems to be something between the two of them if he pushed the guy to shoot himself. Oh, and thank you for the water, a-... uh, I don't think I got your name yet. Actually, I don't think I have any of your names."

"It's a secret!" he did a classical smile, wagging his finger at Walt, then began to examine the gem. It was green and had perfect clarity. Then, he paced towards the refrigerator, opening it and examined the contents. Water, alcohol, juice, bah. No wine. Dammit.

Something was beginning to feel uncouth about Valox's desire to prove some guy dead. Hubris was more curious than he should have been, but he kept his ground and decided to try and find out with his own methods...

" Valox, give me five minutes." I go over to a computer and tap some buttons. A CD springs out of the drive. I put it in a case and throw it to Valox. "Thats the CCTV records from when that guy shot himself. That good enough?"

Walt couldn't believe Nicholas was going to give Valox evidence without knowing why he needed it or what he was going to do with it. He waited nervously for the answer. Would it be enough? Would he have to go out there? Would he survive if he did? The suspense was killing him.

Walt nodded. A contract killer...He wasn't sure he wanted to know what Nicholas would do if he tried anything. Walt was a little relieved that he wouldn't have to fight anyone, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something horrible was going to happen.
