"But what if the ones that are poisoned don't taste funny?" Elizabeth asked. "Are we really willing to put someone's life in danger on the off-chance of taste?" She looked at the tables. "If we can find out how the plates are numbered...Maybe that's what 100=20 is giving us? If we start going around the tables...Six tables, each with six plates...That means 36 is going around once. 36, 72...And now if I count 28 more plates, I'll get to plate number 20. Does that sound right to you guys?"

"I think this letter=29 is telling us which direction to go," Elizabeth said. "Actually, that was pretty clever. You add up all the numbers "this letter" equals, and it is 20+8+9+19+12+5+20X2+8+18, which equals 139. Or he could mean the numbers in just the word "letter," which would be 73. Hm...So, either 39 units from 100=29, or 27 units from 100=29. Or...He could mean the contents of the entire letter, which would be...A lot. Maybe power/square relation=2 somehow tells us which one he's looking for? ...Or I'm complicating things. I'll go around the room really quick and count as I go. I'll stop when I've counted 28, and we'll go from there." Elizabeth walked, counting until she reached 28, then stopped at the table on the far end of the room, the fourth seat down. "So, it looks like this is seat twenty..." What now?

"Hm...." Sophia thought as Elizabeth counted the seats. "So the fourth seat in the fifth table is Seat No. 20. Maybe 'This letter = 29' is telling us that the table with Seat No. 29 isn't poisoned?" She scratched the back of her neck, like she always did when she was nervous. "I'm not quite sure, though, as there is no visible relationship with this theory and the equalities 'Music = D' & 'Power/Square Relation = 2'."

I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.

After a while, Sophia got quite frustrated and decided to leave the dining hall. She excused herself, saying, "I must retire to my quarters for the night. Farewell, my friends." Then she stood up and left the hall, proceeding to the rooms.

You're going to go to bed without any dinner?" Elizabeth asked, concerned. Whatever happened to a balanced diet? Then again, maybe Sophia had the right idea. She had no chance of being poisoned if she didn't eat, and there was only a 17% chance of the group coming to the right conclusion and picking the correct table. But this is one of the challenges of the week. I think we're supposed to see it through. She gulped and went over the riddle again in her head.

This letter=29.
"Wait a second...seat 29 is the fourth table, fifth one down. Seat 20, where I'm standing, is third table, seat number two. Which means...There's a connection between the two. If I take the seat number and square it, I get that table number...Or I'm messing it all up again. But then...If I take 5 and square it, I get table four...As for what seat number I would get, I assume it is..." Then, she stopped short. "There's just one problem. All these tables are supposed to be poisoned except one. My answer is wrong again..." She pressed her hand against her forehead. "Looks like we'll have to come up with something else..."

(( I'm going to request that this RP be put to rest. The answer to the riddle was table 4.

Music = D (4th string and 4th note on guitar, music notation, and every Beethoven Comprita)
100 = 20 (The are 20 number 4's when you count 0-100 )
Power/Square Relation = 2 (2^2 is 4, 2x2 is 4, square-root of 4 is 2)
This letter = 29 (The letter I presented had 29 4-lettered words.)
And for the extra hint if anybody caught it in Howl's dialog... 'Howl' has 4 letters.

Therefore, table 4 had the un-poisoned food.

Sorry I couldn't make this work.))
