"Oh, gee, I don't know. Maybe she owns the office that has 'Sheila Axiom' on it on the second floor," the security guard said. Clearly, she had a bad day because without even waiting for a response from them, she walked away.

(Hmph, talk about good service....) Adam thought about the guard.

"Well, at least we know where to look. Come on Lana," he said as he went to the elevator. However, as soon as they got to the second floor, Adam's jaw droped. It was just one hall, but there were ALOT of offices.

"...... Oh, you have got to be kidding me!" he said slowly in frustration. Eventually, after checking EVERY office on the floor, they finally found Sheila's office. He knocked.

"Umm, Ms. Axiom, are you there?"

((*Claps*))

Sheila was still curled up in a ball, crying, when she heard a knock at the door. Her first thought? Great. Now someone could witness my emotional breakdown. Joooy. Quickly, she wiped her face and reapplied some makeup. It wasn't enough to completely cover up the fact that she had been crying, but at least she didn't have mascara smears running down her cheeks.
"I'm here," she said, getting up, brushing off her dress, and opening her door. "Oh, you're...a defense attorney. And Lana Skye! I've never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but I've heard much about you. Please, come in. What may I do for the two of you?"

"Nice to meet you Ms. Axiom." Lana said.
(It looks like she's been crying...)Lana thought.
"Well I'm a defense attorney now. And I would like to defend you in court tomorrow." Lana said.

"Thank you, Ms. Axiom," said Adam as he walked in. As he walked in he glanced everywhere for about two second.

(........... Yup, they DO get better paychecks.)

"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Adam Blade, attorney at law," he introduced himself. After that, he started to explain the situation.

"Well, you see, Lana is now a deffense attorney. She just started today, and as soon as she entered the office, she was eager to start on her first case. And as soon as she heard about your case, she wanted to take it. And thus, we came here."

"Ah," Sheila said, curtsying respectfully. "It is my pleasure to officially meet the both of you, however, troubling yourself to defend me is not necessary. I was once a defense attorney, myself, and believe I am perfectly capable of defending myself in a court of law." I know one thing: if this really is a set-up, I don't want anyone else involved in it.

"Well, maybe you and Lana can work together? After all, this case is using two of the finest prosecutors in the ditrict," Adam suggested. Like everyone else, he too felt uneasy about this case. But since he WAS the judge, he diced to roll with it for the time being.

"Absolutely not. Just because there are two prosecutors does not mean there need to be two defense attorneys. I have the truth on my side," Sheila explained calmly. The way she figured it, if she stood alone against them and lost, it was no big deal. Well, for anyone else except her, anyway. And if she won, then she would clear her name. Howl and Franziska's reputations wouldn't be ruined by it. However, adding Lana into the mix would make it more complex than that. She didn't want it to happen.

"Well Lana, we tried. Guess I won't be seeying you in court tomorrow," Adam said as he walked twoards the door. As soon as his hand reached the door handle, he turned his head to look at Sheila.

"See you in court tomorrow, Ms. Axiom."

(We did all this and accomplished nothing.) Lana thought.
"Well it was nice to meet you Ms. Axiom." Lana said and walked out.

It took Sheila only a moment to realize what Adam meant by his "see you in court" statement.
"Oh, no...Don't tell me you're mixed up with this, too," she said sadly. "I am sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Blade." She wondered why the judge presiding over her case would be trying to help her out. After all, he was supposed to be impartial, wasn't he? However, she didn't ask. Best not to start this sort of thing out on the wrong foot. And then Lana just...left. If she really wanted to defend Sheila, she would not have accepted "no" for an answer.
I guess this means she just isn't ready to be a defense attorney yet, she thought. Regrettable, too. Having been detective, then Chief Prosecutor, she probably would be a good one.

"'Nixed up with this'? What are you talking about? I was assinged as a temporary judge because all other judges in the district are occupied with other cases at the momment," Adam lied. He knew what Sheila was talking about, but he decided to play dumb. He thought that it might help Lana become the deffense in this case. How would acting dumb do that? To be honest, Adam didn't know.

Name: Miles Edgeworth
Age: 28
Job: District and Head Prosecutor

Appearance: Miles Edgeworth is a rather tall man for his age. He has gray hair, neated up in a rather unique hairstyle.

He uses a wine burgundy suit over a black shirt, paired up with a tailor-made silk cravat, result of his past with the Von Karma lineage.

Even if he's a prosecutor, he prefers keeeping his badge -the proof of his profession- safe in his right pocket.


Bio: His father was killed when he was young, and Miles was taken as his father's murderer protége. After 15 years, thorugh a series of overly complicated events, his father's murderer was caught, however, Miles dissapeared, leading many to think he commited suicide.

However, he was just thinking over what meant to be a prosecutor. He came back after a year, and soon became one of United States' top prosecutors.

As a red sports car pulled up to the garage, someone stepped out.


Miles Edgeworth, back from a two weeks vacation to Germany.


If you could call it a vacation, that is. He was actually on a meeting held for lawyers.

He was called to present a discourse for the watchers on the second week. It was quite a refreshing experience.


As he made his way through the quite large parking hall, he glanced over to a pair of rusty steel doors, an elevator.

He didn't think two times before dropping the idea of using it.

He wouldn't admit this to anyone- but, he still hadn't gotten over his past trauma.

You see- when he was a little boy, he was caught in a closed room- or, should I say, elevator?- murder. The murder of his own father.


Little Miles was accompaining his father, Gregory Edgeworth, defense attorney. However, after an earthquake stroke, he, his father and a bailiff got stuck in an elevator. For an entire afternoon.


The bailiff and his father caught up on a discussion, and Miles, scared, threw the Bailiff's gun, which was on the ground. After that, everyone fainted from Asphyxia.


However, he accidentally shot the Legendary Prosecutor, Manfred von Karma. The prosecutor received his first -and only- penalty on that day, ruining his perfect record. The penalty for using forged evidence was landed from none other than Gregory Edgeworth.
Seeing the perfect chance for revenge, he killed Gregory with the gun, placed the blame on the bailiff, and took Miles in as his protége.


After many years, Manfred's crime was exposed, and he was sentenced to death.

Ever since that event, Miles had been deathly afraid, both of Earthquakes and Elevators. What's worse-- one of the last times he tried using an elevator, he found the corpse of an Interpol Agent, and was accused of murder. That didn't help at all.


He decided to take the other -although more tiring- opition: the stairs.


Soon enough, he reached the twelfth floor, surprisingly not a bit tired. Like they say: practice makes perfection, after all.

Pefection. That word echoed in his head, reminding him of the nightmarish fifteen years in the Von Karma household. Those thougts alone sent shivers down his spine.


He slowly made his way to his room. However, instead of stopping at Room 1202, he went further to Room 1207. Room of the Head Prosecutor.


Lana Skye, former Head Prosecutor, was sent to prison years ago, due to a case he was in. When she was released four years later, however, she decided to start fresh anew.


He never thought Lana Skye, of all people, would turn into a defense attorney!


However, he wasn't that much surpised. He, of all people, knew that life had it's share of Turnabouts.


He grabbed the keys in his pocket, feeling the cold steel through his fingers, and searched for the right key. Once he found it, he turned the key on the lock, and the door slowly opened.


As he stepped into the office, the memories of another traumatizing experience that happened two years ago flooded his mind.

One night, after a one month vacation, he came to his office.


Only to have a gun pointed to his head, and to later to find the roting corpse of detective Buddy Faith resting on the ground. But, he would rather not dwell on those memories.

It may have not looked like it, but seeing a dead body in his office, left the poor Prosecutor even more problematic than he already was.

He opened the door to be greeted by the radiating light of the sun, shining through the window of his shared office.


When the Chief of Justice had to decide who would be the next Head Prosecutor, he was bent between Miles Edgeworth, and Franziska von Karma.

Franziska von Karma was his adoptive younger sister.


She was the second daughter of Manfred von Karma and heir of the von Karma's name.

Even though he wasn't very fond of living with Manfred, he grew quite close ot his "little sister".


She was the perfect example of a von Karma- literally. She went as far as she could to achieve perfection in every way. Even if she had to resort to whipping people for it;

The multiple images of a riding crop hitting his body during his life flooded his mind. Okay, those weren't fond memories.

Still, Franziska was a very good person to be with when she wasn't moody, and he was more than glad to be her "little brother".

Even though he didn't show it, Miles was quite glad when the Chief of Justice decided that both would be Head Prosecutors.

Okay, maybe Franziska didn't seem that adamant about it.



Still, he knew that, deep down, she was just as glad as him- if not more.

It seemed like his sister was out. No surprise there- their lifes had been much more workful ever since they were promoted to Head Prosecutors.

Today, he had no cases. However, he had a suitcase full of paperwork to do.


He opened his suitcase, pulling out a chunk of papers and a pen.


Before starting on the work, however, he got up, and set a teapot filled with water on a little stove he had bought in.

He knew today would be tiring- why not enjoy some Earl Grey tea to relax the tense muscles, then?

He turned the stove on, and awaited until the water was hot enough.

"...You really need to work on your lying skills if you plan on anyone believing you," Sheila said, wagging her index finger. "Besides, if Miss Lana Skye plans on taking this case, she'll have to know exactly what she's getting herself into, won't she?" She chuckled. "It doesn't really matter, as she already left, anyway." She looked Adam in the eye. "I'm not so sure she's ready to be a defense attorney yet. And even if she was, this should definitely not be her first case."

Floyd entered the Prosecutor's Office with a sigh. Clutching the file in hand, he made his way to his desk, placing it on the top of a pile of other papers. He put his head in his hands and tried to think. He knew Clyde was hiding something, and he also knew that there was no way he believed the evidence was forged. But that wasn't the issue here, obviously. The case was most likely a means to get rid of Sheila, but why? What good did it do? And furthermore, would Franziska and Howl even be able to prove anything? A lot of questions, but few answers for the detective. He couldn't wait for the trial, where everything would be revealed.

It was noon right now. After three hours of non stop writing, Miles finally could rest and enjoy a good lunch.

Strange as it may be, he hadn't seen Kay in some time by now.

Oh, if you don't know, Kay Faraday is Miles' assistant and friend.

They met some time ago, when her father was killed. Miles and Franziska investigated, and found the murderer, a defense attorney, who escaped.

Many years later, they found the murderer, disguised as an Interpol Agent, and, togheter, took down an entire smuggling ring.

She is the second heir of the Yatagarasu name- a group that uses their united powers to reveal hidden corporation secrets and send corrupt authorities to jail.

She came everyday to help him. However, he hasn't seen her for about two days. And that was strange.


"Ah, that's mere paranoia. Of course Kay is fine. She can take care of herself..."


Miles grabbed his suitcase, locked the office, and left for a restaurant on the corner of the next street.

Rose N. Thornebush was about to head out to the Prosecutors' Office after a week-long sick leave, just recently released from the hospital due to malaria. After finishing a cup of coffee, she took her remote and was about to turn off the television in the living room when she heard a familiar name mentioned in a newsflash. "In recent news, renowned prosecutor Sheila Axiom has been accused of forgery of evidence," the reporter announced. "A trial will be convened tomorrow morning to determine the verdict. The chief prosecutor has released further information that there will be two prosecutors for the case, though the identities of these two prosecutors are yet to be released to the press." The news took the prosecutor by surprise, and after finally turning off the television and wearing her black overcoat, she drove to the prosecutors' office as fast as the city traffic allowed, filled with worry for her friend and eager to know who would be prosecuting Sheila, as well as the reason behind the need for two prosecutors.

When she arrived at the second floor, she knocked on Sheila's door, and opening it without even waiting for a response. It was improper for a woman of her to act so rashly, but there were some things that even she couldn't wait for. When she entered the room, she found Sheila Axiom at her table, as expected, as well as a tall, young man with a rather scruffy look about him. Nodding to him once, she then turned to Sheila, but before she could ask anything, she stopped herself, seeing just the slightest redness of her friend's eyes. Not many would've noticed, but Rose knew that she'd have cried after all of this had happened to her. Rose was, before anything else, a friend, and even her curiosity would not let her worsen the situation.

She could not ask just about anything in front of an unknown person, though, so she decided to play it safe, and with a cautiously gentle voice, she asked, "I just recently heard about the situation. Is everything all right?"

Sheila smiled tiredly.
"Everything is fine, Prosecutor Thornebush," she lied. "Back from your sick leave, I see. Are you feeling okay?"

"Everything is fine, Prosecutor Thornebush," was all Sheila said in reply. Rose knew there was more to it than that, but she decided to question her later. "Yes, Miss Axiom, I'm feeling quite well now. Who might this young man be?" She then directed her attention to the unfamiliar man who was surprisingly taller than anyone she'd met before. As far as she knew, there were no new prosecutors in the office, and she doubted that anyone would be allowed to visit Sheila at a time like this were it not for business-related matters. "Maybe an upstart detective or defense attorney," Rose presumed, and yet if this man were actually to handle Sheila's case....she sighed, thinking of the consequences.

"This man is Mr. Adam Blade, a defense attorney. However, for this particular case, he will be presiding as the judge," Sheila explained as casually as she could. "He came here to see if I would like a new colleague of his to take my case, but I refused her, and she left."

Rose nodded nonchalantly as Sheila introduced the defense attorney-turned-judge of the intriguing case. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Blade," she then greeted, then turned back to the prosecutor. "In that case, who, then, will be your defense? And the reports also mentioned two people co-heading the prosecution for your case, as assigned by the chief. I assume you already know who these are?"

"I will be defending myself," Sheila answered. "And yes, I know who the two prosecutors are. I actually feel sorry for them, being assigned to this case. No matter the outcome, they'll probably feel like crap for it."

Rose nodded again, recalling that before Sheila made her reputation as a prosecutor, she was, after all, a defense attorney. It seemed she wasn't going to get any straight answers from her right now, so she decided not to discuss the matter further. "Well, it seems my business is done here," Rose said with just a tinge of disappointment. "I'll be off for now. Good luck with your case then." With that, she went out of the room, making sure to close the door gently behind her.

Rose still wanted to find out who was in charge of Sheila's case, and if there was one person who had to have all the information, it would be Franziska von Karma. She and Franziska were not on the best of terms, but she wouldn't deny her an audience either. Sighing, she walked up to the door with Franziska's name, and knocked twice.

Sheila could hear the disappointment in Rose's voice, and felt herself go cold.
"W-was there something else you--?" she started to ask, but by then, Rose had already left. She sighed and shook her head. "This case is going to be hard on everyone, even those not involved." She seemed to forget about Adam's presence as she muttered to herself incoherently.

Rose waited one minute for an answer, yet there was no sign of anyone in the room, at least anyone that happened to acknowledge her presence. She sighed again, and decided that it was high time to get her mind off the case for a while; after all, she wasn't involved in the case directly, and there was no need for her to involve herself anyhow. She went down to the lobby and made herself a cup of tea.

After sitting down on the velvet couch to take a sip of the Earl Grey, she saw a familiar face enter the building. It was the new head detective of the Police Department, Floyd Ambrose. Setting the cup on the glass table in front of her, she stood up and walked toward the detective. "Mr. Ambrose?" she asked to get his attention. With an outstretched hand, she introduced herself to the detective. "I'm Rose Thornebush, a prosecutor, though I suppose you might have known that already."

Floyd heard the woman greeting him and faced her. "Ah, yes, Ms. Thornebush. Can I help you with something?" he asked, his heavy accent lightening for a moment.

Once Rose had caught the man's attention, she motioned to the couch in front of her, and after making another cup of tea for the good detective, she sat down in her original position and asked, "Mr. Ambrose, do you, by any chance, happen to know anything about the case against Ms. Sheila Axiom? Or at least the detective in charge of her case?" If the man wasn't the detective in charge, then Rose presumed he could at least point her in the right direction, seeing as he was the head detective.

Floyd smiled, taking the tea thankfully. "You're actually talking to the head detective of Ms. Axiom's case. I've actually just come back from gathering information myself. What would you like to know, miss?"

Rose smiled, fortunate that she was face-to-face with the detective in charge of Sheila's case. "Well, first," she began, "what exactly are the charges against Ms. Axiom? She has been accused of forgery, I know that much, but who's accused her, and what's her motive? And second, I've heard that there are actually two prosecutors working on her case instead of just one. As far as I know, even some of the most serious homicidal cases are assigned only one prosecutor, so why the exception now, and who exactly did they assign?"

Floyd cleared his throat and took a sip of tea. "Very good, by the way," he noted. "Well, Ms. Axiom has been accused of forging a punchcard presented as evidence in a previous case involving one Dennis Young. The defense attorney of that case, Roger Clyde, was the one to press charges." He paused. "The two prosecutors working on this case are Ms. Franziska Von Karma and Howl Ingmune. And as to why there are two of the most vicious prosecutors working on this case together," he said, smiling, "I haven't the foggiest."

Rose smiled with the compliment, saying, "Of course, the chief prosecutor himself sets the standards for everything in the prosecutors' office, tea included." She then nodded, taking mental notes of all the information the detective had to offer. Then, when he made mention of her own colleagues, Franziska von Karma and Howl Ingmune, as the prosecution for the case, her thoughts went back to the short visit she made in Sheila's office. "So that's why Sheila seemed worried," Rose mumbled to herself. When faced against two co-workers and friends which could ruin either side's reputation, there was valid reason for worry. "I see," Rose said finally. "I suppose all other matters will have to wait until tomorrow, since any information beyond what you have said might be deemed confidential. Oh, but before I forget, was there any specific reason for your visit to the office today?"

Floyd finished his cup. "Yes, I was here to speak to both Ms. Axiom and the Prosecution. I was gathering information before I came here, and I believe she can shed some more light on the previous case," he explained.

Rose nodded once more at the detective's response, though she'd already tried to gain new information from both sources without much success. Of course, if she accompanied the detective, there may be more information to be gained; after all, the detective was on official business and he had every right to know all about the case at hand. "Would it be alright if I accompanied you on your investigation?" she asked. "I believe Ms. Axiom is still in her office, as well as a Mr. Adam Young, who, according to her, will be the presiding judge during the trial."

Floyd nodded. "That sounds good. Well, follow me, miss," he said, standing and gesturing her to follow him down the crowded hallways to Sheila's office. He knocked on the door and waited patiently, coughing a few times.

Miles was now walking back to the prosecutor's office.

As soon as he reached the Lobby, he saw Detective and Prosecutor leaving. He paid them no heed, however, as they were merely another two under one convulted mass of people moving through the building.

As such, Edgeworth began another trip on the stairs, not even daring to use the elevator, making his way to the Head Prosecutors' office.
