Iris nearly dropped her phone in shock. "She...she what?!" The driver threw a suspicious look at her, which evoked a hasty apology for the disturbance.

She cupped her hand over her mouth and continued quietly. "What on earth are you talking about? My sister never did that! Anyway, I'm asking her to give herself up; that's the only way to end this without hurting anyone else. If I show myself to her with the rest of you with me, she might react violently..."

Chris decided to turn around so his voice could be heard through the phone. "She did call the police. I have proof of that... recall that I can talk with the police about more confidential information... despite the fact she tried to hide her voice, they ran her phone number through a guide and it came up with a phone registered to Dahlia Hawthorne. You can't go to Dusky Bridge like this; what if she tries to hurt you? You're being oblivious to the truth."

Iris held her head, wishing the world would stop spinning around her. This was just too much; why would Dahlia try to frame her? Was her sister really afraid of being betrayed after she'd gone through so much to get the necklace back for her?

"She might be hurt! I have to go to her!" Iris wailed. "Besides, if you are right about her, that just means I have to try to stop her now! She'll come after you again if I don't!"

(Yeah, she already knows at least one is behind her, it won't make much difference if the other two are seen now. :yuusaku:

Curious, Draco thought. It seems like the taxi is taking the road toward Hazakura temple, and the car in from of him is tailing. Why on earth would they be going there? For the same reason I am?

Passing by the taxi, Draco glanced through the window quickly and was slightly stunned. Dahlia? What is she doing? Is she head up to the bridge for the same reason he is?

He didn't really like what was going on, but knew nothing could be done about it at the moment. He sped ahead of the taxi, ahead of all the cars, and continued off toward the temple.

He could feel his face heating up, but he wasn't sure if it was out of anger or his fever trying to kick back in. He had to take a breath before he could lower his voice. Iris knew she was trapped. She wanted badly to say Phoenix was wrong, and she could save her sister if she had this last chance, but...now she wasn't sure she was strong enough to make Dahlia listen.

"Driver, this is far enough..." As the taxi slowed and pulled over to the side of the road, Iris lowered her head. What can I do, anyway? she rhetorically asked herself, her lap growing damp with tears. I'm so useless...

Draco continued onward, not noticing the other vehicles falling back behind him. The turn was up ahead, and he slowed his bike down, turning onto the dirtpath up the mountain side. twenty minutes later, he say the temple through the dense trees, and parked his vehicle close to the branching fork. One lead up to the temple, which he never actually gone to, the other went to the bridge, were Valerie met her demise. The young man removed his helmet, setting it on the bike's handle. Then started down the path toward Dusky Bridge.

"Iris?" Phoenix watched the taxi pull over. He dropped his cellphone and got out. His feet couldn't get him to the taxi fast enough, nor could he swing the door open any harder. In seconds he had Iris in his arms. His body shook as he held her. He was just so sure that she was going to get herself killed that he almost had a heart attack.

Iris had only just managed to compose herself enough to pay the cabbie when her door flew open. She turned to it and almostly instantly found herself very nearly tackled out of her seat. Her cry of suprise was cut short at the realization that the man holding her was trembling; the face she saw for a split-second when he entered told her why. She still felt she was doing the right thing, but in that moment, she understood she had gone about doing it the entirely wrong way.

"I'm...I'm so sorry..." she breathed faintly. She slowly wrapped her arms around Phoenix and buried her face in his shoulder. "I knew you would stop me if I told you I was going. I'm such a selfish, horrible person..."

He wanted to tell her that she was wrong about causing him pain, but he didn't want to lie to her. "I don't mind, Iris. I mean, this is just happening now. It's painful now. It won't be forever. When this is all done, and whatever is meant to happen does, well then we'll have forever to be really happy." He said with a smile and held out his hand to help her out of the car.

"There's no telling... we need to get there now." He pulled up right beside Phoenix and Iris. "Guys, someone else is going to Dusky Bridge! We have to hurry!"

Iris stepped out of the cab in a complete daze. She couldn't decide whether she wanted to cry out of shame or elation; she didn't deserve this treatment. Phoenix barely knew who she really was, and all she'd done since the day they'd met was lie to him and hide things from him...yet he could still say these beautiful, wonderful words to her. His words... Wait...

...then we'll have forever to be really happy.

Forever...? What... Did he just...?

Blood swiftly rushed to Iris' head as she fell deep into thought, so when Chris' warning arrived, she just stood there like a glassy-eyed, red-faced fool.

Meghan giggled. "They really do look cute..."

"This isn't the time, Meg," said Chris seriously. "Dahlia's up there, and we have to confront her. Even if it's without them. Let them have their moment, and they can catch up with that taxi. Let's go!" he quickly drove off, and they parked right beside the bridge.

Chris got out first, followed by Meghan. "Now, to find out where Dahlia is..." said Chris.

Phoenix watched the car leave.
"I think they're leaving without us." He said a tad dumbly before switching his attention back to Iris. "This seems like a really bad idea." Honestly he wasn't really sure what to think of the situation as a whole. He'd been running around on one repeating thought the past few days. 'Must help Dollie.' He was doing well to make sure to say her real name when he was speaking, but in his head she was still his Dollie. It would take some time for that to change.

Iris blinked. Then she blinked again. Finally she snapped back to reality. "T-they're what?" she gasped. She spun around and lunged back into the taxi, yelping in pain as she banged her shin against the door frame. "Please, sir," she implored of the driver, "take us to Dusky Bridge!"

She turned back to the man who had just told her they'd be happy together forever with desperation in her eyes. "Feenie, we have to hurry! I know something terrible will happen if I don't stop them!"

Chris began his walk down Dusky Bridge, accompanied by Meghan. Despite the fact it was nearing spring, it was surprisingly cold out. Chris made sure to be careful on the bridge, since it was quite old and rusty. "She has to be around here somewhere..."

"Well, we need to stay on one side, unless you want her to rush us on the bridge..." said Meghan worriedly. "It's dangerous out in the cold."

Iris cradled her injured leg as the cab followed the dirt path to Dusky Bridge. Several moments of silence passed before she felt daring enough to question Phoenix. "Um...Feenie? Maybe I shouldn't be asking this right now, but..." she watched the trees outside so her eyes wouldn't lock with his as she finished, "...about what you said earlier...what did you mean by 'forever'?"
