"Miss, calm down, calm down! You sound like you have a case of amnesi-- gah!" The heat of the fire finally caught up to Ty in the pilot's chair. "Just a-amnesia... please, just relax for a sec..."
"I wonder if a fire extinguisher would make this any better." He pondered while trying to calm the blazing amnesiac.

She quickly grabbed a gallon-sized bottle of emergency water and splashed it on the woman.
The woman's flames suddenly ceased in her shock and turned to Zero. Her clothes were singed.
"Please calm down. I believe your name is Shanta. My name is Zero, pleased to meet you," Zero said good naturedly. She reached out and grabbed one of Shanta's slender hands and gave it a friendly shake.

She got up hastily, and proceeded to the door. "I'll have to track down Thalassa... (Aletheia's given name)" She opened the door and dropped. She combusted the air and flew to the city nearby, almost falling out a couple of times.

Apocalypse spiralled downwards as Finn collided with him. They landed in a heap. Finn got up, groaning. Apocalypse lay still.
"Oh, fuck...Nightmare!" Yelled Finn.

Zero was suddenly alarmed and her eyes jerked towards the window.

He took a look out the window, and could just make out a pair of figures below. "Okay, I'll try to take us down" Ty announced "Keep an eye out for the big guy with the explosive temper, though. We'll wanna avoid him."

She walked up to the helm and sat in a seat next to Ty.
"I'm pretty good with electronics. Let's see what I can do..."
She analyzed each of the many buttons on the dashboard in front of her.
"I believe this is targeting..." She pushed a yellow button and a grid with crosshairs appeared on the huge window in front of them.
"What do you think we should do next, Ty? I can try to take them down."

Tsunami was going to freeze Finn and Apocalypse together, when suddenly she was frozen in place. Nightmare held her there, then threw Tsunami. She landed hard on the ground several feet away, and Tsunami couldn't get up. Nightmare was holding her there.
"What's wrong with you?" Nightmare asked as Tsunami tried to escape her grasp by turning into water. It didn't work. "For some reason, Apocalypse kept you alive. Why would you jeopardize that?"
"M-my friends..." Tsunami spat out.
"Your friends are better off than you are. I can crush every bone in your body now. Or I can stop the flow of your blood right now. Yet you insist on fighting. Did you really think you could beat all three of us?"
"I didn't have to. I just had to stall you long enough..." She felt herself being crushed.
"I won't kill you. Obviously, Apocalypse wants you alive or he would have killed you himself. But you will not escape me."
Tsunami looked up and saw the airship not too far away. "I did my job," she said. Then, the pressure was too much and she passed out.
Nightmare put handcuffs on her, only these ones were special in another way. It would zap her if she moved or if she turned into water again. As Nightmare started carrying her back, she saw the airship. No big deal. Finn, Apocalypse, and I can easily take them now.

"They're coming... Finn! Sort yourself out! Nightmare, get ready..." He glowed white with energy as the airship drew closer.

"I know that light." She says, and smiles, an evil smile. "Oh, it's all coming back...the traitor, Shruriken, the one who was my friend, the one who struck me down..." She straightens up. "I'm ready..."

"Zero, get a lock on one of them, and concentrate fire on one. It'll be easier to deal with one than to risk missing both." Ty spoke, his hand moving to rest on the music player on his hip. His attention then turned to Shanta, her smile putting him out of ease. "Sounds like you have quite the past. I'm afraid I don't know who Shuriken is, but the enemy down there is named Apocalypse-- must be similar in ability, I guess."
Ty switched his attention back to the front. "Ready, Zero? Pick one, and OPEN FIRE!"

Sure enough, Apocalypse starts muttering
"City's breaking down on a camel's back.

He looks up, shock in his eyes.
"Shanta? No, no NO!" He yells, as a mobile phone rings. It is Finns, because his is the only one turned on. It plays 'Feel Good Inc.' by the Gorillaz. Finn is puzzled.
"That's not my ringtone..." He pulls his phone out, to see it flashing and pulsing with light. Everywhere on the ruined earth, all mobile phones left on are doing the same. The lyrics pump into the everlasting night as Apocalypse breaks down...

Ty never finished the thought, cause around the moment Shanta finished, his music player started up on it's own, the same song ringing in his earbuds. He didn't react for a moment, but then, when nobody else was looking, concentrated on the song and twirled his finger in a circle. A red afterimage was left behind, temporarily, before fading. He let the power leave him, and turned back to Shanta.
"You do this?" He said, unpluging the jack and letting 'Feel Good Inc.' ring out from the speaker on the box.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." He straightens out, and goes into battle stance. Finn rises beside him. They are ready.

"Alethia...Verite...my sisters, one protecting earth against the forces of evil, the other aiding them...they are near, I feel it, they must be, where are they?"

"Never, my darling, never." He said, and still glowing, said. "One of them on that airship is so much more powerful than us. I will talk to her, for it is with me she belongs...let's go!" He turned his skin into a gleaming silver metal and darted foward, towards the airship.

"This party is about to begin...leave Shruriken to me. Deal with the other two." Her voice was cold as ice as she burst into flame and left the airship to confront Apocalypse.

The situation had changed quickly. Zero hopped off of the airship with Ty when it reached the ground. She knew that she hadn't been fighting long enough... that her powers couldn't be used to their full potential. However, that wouldn't stop her from trying. As music filled the air, she felt strangely... invigorated. She faced the opposition feeling renewed and powerful.
Unlike everyone else, she had no idea who she was or where she came from, but at that moment, facing the Apocalypse and his allies, none of it mattered. This is what The Protectors were for. This was the late Rob Digit's vision, his hope for humanity.
"Let's go."

Ty plugged the headphone-jack back into his player, and changed the song from the Gorrilaz to something else (he couldn't remember what it was), with a more orchestral style, but very exciting and perfect for combat.
"YO, SPARKY!" Ty called, feeling the subtle powers he just assigned come to him. "Let's see how good you really are!"
((Yes, I provided a link for the song style I thought of. XD At least it helps more than me attempting to describe.))

Verite finally caught up with the inevitable battlefield. The glowing of Apocalypse and the flaming figure of a young girl was first visible. Their light put the sun to shame in all honesty. Still carrying Aletheia, Verite landed on the ship to let her down. The song came still carried on strong. Upon hearing it, Verite felt strange. It wasn't rejuvenating like Zero, or rage-inducing like Shanta. It caused her to feel... dread. Aletheia opened her eyes and looked at her sister.
"It must be Shanta..." They both looked at her. Verite replied, "You don't think..."
"Yes, that's it's purpose..." They flew off together, taking the shape of their elements, fire and wind.
Aletheia shouted, "I'll try to hold off Shanta, get Apocalypse away from her!"
She rammed herself into Shanta, which resulted in both of the hitting the desert sands.

Zero turned to face Nightmare. She stretched out one hand to the side and sand started to float and gather around her hand. Something she hadn't noticed before tugged at her senses. There was a small presence behind a rare desert bush farther away.
Tsunami... Hang on. I'll come get you. Wait for me.
Her orange eyes focused on the woman in front of her again.
"I don't believe we've met."

Zero silently began to gather more sand. The fight wth Aletheia helped her to begin to learn how to use it effectively.

She gathered more sand around her right hand and forearm and hardened it like a sand gauntlet. She didn't know if it was her experience from last battle, the music, or the anger...but she was doing things she had never done before and was handling things calmly. Zero wasn't afraid.

Nightmare was too fast; Zero couldn't stop her from wrenching control of the sand away from her.
What am I supposed to do?
Then Zero sensed something under the ground Nightmare was standing on. A few yards below the sand... something was flowing.
Water...?
Then she quickly came up with a plan. She bent down and took off her shoes. The hot sand burned her feet, but Zero tried not to notice.
"I think now I'll have to get serious."
She created another sandstorm. Before Nightmare could get rid of it again, Zero reached with her power through her bare feet, beneath the sand towards Nightmare. She started to shift sand away from the water. When Nightmare had compacted it into a ball and sent it flying again, the ground under her collapsed and she fell into water.
I have to be fast. This won't stall her for long!
Zero ran as fast as she could, encouraged by the scalding sand that her feet hit with every stride. She made it to the bush.
"...Tsunami! Let me get you out of these..." She used telekinetic power to widen the handcuffs so Tsunami could slip her hands out.
"She's strong, but if we work together we might find a way to beat her. I found a lot of water for you to use..."

Nightmare cackled loudly as she levitated her self out of the water, the water following her. "You see. This is why I'm so powerful. I can concentrate my powers in a way where I can use both of them simultaneously."

Something broke deep inside of Zero and she felt like crying. This was another emotion she had never remembered feeling before.
No... That woman must be making her see me as something else!
Zero scrambled to her feet and saw Tsunami preparing for another attack. Zero slammed the sand gauntlet, now soggy but still hard, into Tsunami's head and knocked her out cold.
"I'm so, so sorry..."
