((Welcome back.))

Ikakku took his radio back. "Sorry, I need to radio HQ." he tuned his frequency so as to contact a pilot on his way here. "Eagle One. Come in. Eagle One. Where are you? 'We' are due for extraction. 300 m north. I'm in the blue building, police precinct. Thanks. Ghost one out."

"Well! This certainly changes things. Apparently command wants me out of here immediately. It's not like they actually told me to do anything short of..."

The radio crackled to life. "We're taking fire! Shit! Fuselage's shot! We're going down! Mayday! May--" and the voice was cut off. And for the first time so far, Ikakku was genuinely afraid. "Someone shot down our bird. Fuck!" He wasn't prone to profanity, but it just came naturally. Rushing outside, he met Luneth making her way inside. "Damn, not good. Our bird just got shot down. They were 'taking fire', which means..." he didn't want to elaborate, and didn't wait for either Everett or Luneth to catch up. He arrived outside just in time to see smoke rising from the horizon, smoke that wasn't there an hour ago.

"Shit. This is not good. Command? This is Ghost one. We have lost contact with Eagle one, and have good reason to believe they have been KIA. Awaiting further orders."

((I don't think I mentioned that controlling your RP's storyline very stringently was explicitly against the rules. I did say godmodding was, and I also said that controlling the storyline and a very long list of rules was discouraged. Anyways, thanks. I really appreciate this. :P))

"Here" he handed the goggles back. "Looks like I'm going solo, again. Like always." He estimated the distance to the wreckage to be roughly 50 meters. Hmm....

"Stay in contact with me, but don't respond if you hear command, unless you want your ass busted for insubordination and disobeying orders from those fat generals. I'll update you if there's any new info."

He cocked his gun and replaced the telescopic sight, and proceeded to walk, very slowly, and methodically, turning 360 degrees for ever 5 meters covered.

"Pah, I'm coming. I'm already disobeying command as it is, anyways." Luneth pulled her goggles over her eyes and set them to infrared. "Everett, stick with Jaron, he's the only protection you've got." Everett nodded and went back to find Jaron. He was holding the gun that Ikkaku gave him earlier.
Luneth followed Ikkaku and readied the Glock. She looked around and listened for noise. It was silent except for the occasional scuffing of feet on the ground.

"They probably all flocked to the crash site. Makes an awful lot of noise when a heli collides with pavement. And that other plane is gone. Apparently the man disappeared too. This is like a bad horror movie, except we're in it."

"I don't know. But take a look at that scene through the scope of your rifle." He was focused intently on the scene. "Look...I was wrong about the zombies tearing apart those pilots limb from limb. No, if you look closely at the ground, you'll see no crater, no damage to the pavement. And...I just noticed. When I was picking up the radio broadcast, between 'going down!' and them getting cut off, there was barely three seconds. It usually takes much longer for a heli to drop to the ground."

He swallowed. "Luneth, I think that heli was blown apart in midair. The flame retardant flight suits would explain why there's minimal damage, but since we got there in under, what, five minutes? The only thing that could have torn them apart and scattered their body parts so far apart would have to be a tank. I don't see one. Whatever happened, it's not good. That black plane was like nothing I've ever seen before. They said they were "taking fire", so it wasn't a missile. I'm damn afraid of that black plane."

Luneth jumped the roofs, shooting the infected with her pistol. She was making fast progress, and the police station loomed in sight. Looking back for the other soldier, she saw that he was making good progress. Then she leaped onto the last roof and climbed down the escape stairs. "I win."
