"I'll bet," she growled. "I'll aim the cut closer to your heart next time."
"I'd welcome the attempt," Migel chuckled. "You almost had me. Really. I was terrified at the time. But, enough reminiscence," his smile became predatory. "The book. Let's see it, Mary."
Bloody Mary slowly reached into her cape, keeping a careful probing eye on the crevasses and shadows for movement. She held up the bag to Migel and then pulled the book out enough for him to see the upper half of it.
He took a sharp intake of air. "That's it. That is it-"
"Stay back," she said when he took a step forward. The thug with the gun clicked off the safety in warning and Bloody Mary heard more of the same sound from other crevasses. Migel patiently waved off the guns. Bloody Mary waited an extra moment before speaking, "Give me what I want first."
"I don't like that idea," Migel said. "We both know that I'm honest enough to give you want you want. You though...let's be honest. It wouldn't be the first time you pulled something a lot less than heroic."
"You really don't want this book after all, don't you?" She snarled.
"Peace. I simply propose a compromise. I give you half of what you want now, you give me the book after that, and then we'll seal the deal with the other half. Fair?"
No. It wasn't. It would be if it were from anyone else but it wasn't: it was Migel. He never offered anything without a trap hidden inside for fools to jump into. What she really wanted to do was grab him and squeeze out everything he knew before giving him the death he'd escaped last time but that option wasn't on the table.
She nodded curtly.
Migel bowed his head in return. "As promised I dedicated my birds-" spies, "-into the search of Joyce Howatt or, as we used to know her, the Huntress. She is definitely alive, contrary to rumors. She lives under a new name, a new profession, and fortunately for you, she'd still in this city. She's been living under your nose for years."
"And?" Bloody Mary demanded when he didn't say more. She knew, or at least guessed most of that. What she needed was the details.
"The book comes first," Migel said smoothly.
"Not good enough," she replied. "Start elaborating or I'm going to start taking out my frustration on your precious book."
Migel's eyes narrowed. She saw him flex his fingers and tensed, but it was unfounded. He continued, "One detail then, one key detail and then give me what is mine. John Ulyatt. That is the person who ties most deeply into the Huntress. I will tell you how exactly along with the other details once you give me that book."
Bloody Mary studied his face from behind her mask. Chances were good, he wasn't lying. Idly, she wondered the question she had asked herself when she acquired the Tome of the Sun King: why was the book so important? Why would it drive Migel to drive through her? She knew the reason she was with him: she was fucking desperate.
Bloody Mary gripped onto that thought. She held up the bag with the book again and then threw it across the gap between them so it would land on the ground between them.

Jonah frowned noting down the information he heard Doesn't hurt to keep tabs on something, besides this Miguel guy may probably be interested in other artifacts I might be able to acquire for him. he thought as he watched the exchange This Mary is fascinating though...she's got all kinds of history and secrets....wonder what her power is. he mused noting the position of the gunmen, he'd have to strike soon or his target would be lost. Suddenly after their conversation the bookgirl tossed the book into the air.

Jonah struck lightning fast, blitzing out of his hiding hole to snatch the book in midair He makes the catch! before continuing on to kick the furtherest gunman into the wall at Mach 1 speeds snatching his gun as it fell in midair before turning it on Miguel "Now....I'm feeling really bad about this now since I think it'll involve a few complications for you....but you got what you want I got what I want so...." he frowned as he realised the lack of wind in his surroundings. "I'll make things a little easier for you 'Mary'" he said his arm moving imperceptibly fast to shoot out a window allowing a cool breeze into the warehouse. Focusing his power he channelled the inrush of wind into another guard smashing him into a large container as he positioned himself closer to the door where he could keep everyone in range of his gun "Now.....a little fairer....I'm just gonna take off..." he said sliding the book bag over his shoulder as he opened the warehouse door.

One moment she had the information she needed right in her sights and the next it was being blitzed away by a third element.
Migel's eyes narrowed at her for a moment and he spat, "Stronza!*"
"He's not mine!" She snarled back.
He didn't look like he believed her and began flexing his his fingers. Bloody Mary could feel the earth beneath them begin to shake, undoubtable his plan to form his specialty golem but the thief had moved fast. He'd be gone before Migel was finished and Migel's guards had gotten the whack fast. Not only that but the thief had that damn gun trained.
Fortunately Bloody Mary didn't fear guns.
She pulled her bullet proof cloak closer with one hand and reached into one of her side poaches for a knife as she zipped with abnormal speed toward the thief. She cocked her arm back and aimed the knife at his torso in midrun.

Speaking of which...the man in question had regained that pleasant 'go get one for the gipper!' smile. He was sweating profusely though.
"If I get the book myself, you don't deserve the rest of your payment," he said.
She called it. She also fully expected what came next.
Migel flexed his fingers one last time and chanted something in a language she didn't recognize. In front of the thief arose a being that splintered it's way through the wooden flor. It easily stood nine to ten feet tall and five feet across made of stone and dust and latent metals in the ground. Migel's specialty creation: a golem.
Bloody Mary moved in for an attack on the thief as the golem began to swing with surprising speed for its size.

The caller then replied:
"Itami. You know that there are multiple 'Drives' being activated in the vicinity and aren't doing a single thing about it, correct?"
The man just responded by spitting at a trash can and then talked.
"Yeah. Can't endanger the rest of the town just yet. Besides. I understand the term for these lot is 'Super'. I assume it refers to the concept of 'superhuman' abilities. Regardless, I believe their 'abilities' are very much the same as the 'Drives' myself and my predecessors used. I can deal with them."
Izanagi just thought for a bit then told Itami that if any of the users goes out of control, he has to eliminate them.
"I know that already. Furin out." He hung up, and then activated the belt, turning into the Rider he was earlier in the day. He jumped between walls quietly and made sure to remain in any blind spot of the fight occurring in the building he was watching. He then sat down and watched the fight from a hidden angle.
"A golem? Looks like the drives here are more variable. I'd better keep watching."

Meanwhile, the thief continued, saying, "Or would you rather I did it for you?" as he aimed a kick at Migel's gut.
Migel rolled himself back in the direction of the blow, not enough to fully block it but enough to cut down the impact as he let out an audible 'omph!'. His mechanical arm gleamed in the dimly light as it rapidly shot down to catch the thief's leg in a vice grip.

Mac was rolling around the couch in a cold sweat during this whole nightmare.. His earliest memories were resurfacing and none of them were good. Mac soon rolled off the couch and his recently stitched wound was the first thing to hit the floor. Mac woke up as soon as the pain reached him.
"YEOW!!! OWWWWW!!! GOD THATS SMARTS! GEEZ THAT REALLY FREAKING HURTS!!........... Ohhh.....I'm awake all ready?....I still feel a bit tired though..."

Migel had crashed into the wall hard. He was still holding onto the thief but Bloody Mary noticed his mechanical hand looked decidedly slacker from the hit. At this rate she wouldn't have much time before he lost complete hold of their thief and the book too.
Bloody Mary felt the wind nearly shift her away from the golem. She entwined her arm awkwardly around its wrist and lifted the knife in her left hand against the palm of the right. She cut a quick deep cut and let the blood flow. It flowed down her arm but instead of dripping onto the floor it formed into a thin, sharp, wavering pole.
The wind made it difficult to keep the liquid solid but she forced herself to concentrate. She aimed the blood pole towards the thief and thought extend. The sharp end shot towards the back of the thief's throat but stopped short a metre. She'd wanted to slice at what secured the book but she couldn't extend it any longer with the wind already pushing her tenuous hold, not without more blood. She'd either of to stall or hope he'd give up under threat.
"Drop the storm and book or it's going to become very difficult for you to breath," Bloody Mary yelled over the wind. More blood kept dripping from her cut to the connection, very slowly strengthening it, but probably not fast enough.
C'mon, Migel you scumbag, hold him still a bit longer...

A moment later Miguel and Jonah dropped from their position on the wall, the wind releasing them briefly before picking up with double the force forming a small tornado around the pair. Miguel on the outside of the tornado spun rapidly around it and as Jonah's foot was still connected to his gut and arm Jonah span around as well trying hard to focus amidst the chaos he directed the tornado towards Mary at a high speed hoping to crush her with either Miguel's metal arm or simply by slamming his body against her and the Golem he could at least be released from his grip.

"Break Ride, Sound Break!" The suit's 'announcer' had declared it to Itami so he could be aware of the earplug protocol it used to prevent the user from being damaged by it. Only problem with the attack itself was the blatant sign that had: BREAK RIDE right above the ROCKET SOUND BREAK lettering which looked rather mechanical for something that was almost the opposite... except its mechanical nature came from different planes of existence. But regardless, the three would notice that they were indeed being fired upon... given they could see the building he was on and once the rocket hit anything, it would cause everything within a 7.5 meter radius (roughly 50ft in diameter) that can react to sound to do so. Like the liquids in one's body for instance. Thus why he sat on the next building. Although the sound's fallout wouldn't be pleasant, because the ringing it gave off could easily throw out a normal person's eyesight. But that was no problem for the super using it, it was an even bigger problem for its targets because they'd be paralyzed or senseless from the blast. Unless they had sound-resistant or sound-negating abilities, their abilities wouldn't save them. But the effects were only temporary, like say 10 minutes. But recovery would take at least an hour. Given they did not move.
But, they'd probably notice because the loud crashing of a stupid window he wasn't paying attention to would most likely compromise his position. But despite that the rocket went straight through, causing a loud crashing noise to be heard by ANYONE there. Meaning if you were unconscious or completely deaf, that'd be your only excuse not to hear it. Hell, the only thing that even made it solid enough to break glass was the shell which was composed of energies that gathered the dust and small particles that were solid from around the atmosphere and the ground itself. So in order to make it really dangerous, he would have to kick up a ton of dust or blow something up. But the chaos around and the airborne particles were enough, so he'd barely be able to break the glass despite the density of the gathered mass.

Bloody Mary was forced to drop the blood pole at a tornado formed around the thief. Migel's usually composed face was caught in an unpleasant, sickly disposition as he was caught in the wind. The tornado lowered itself closer to the ground and swirled closer and closer.
Bloody Mary's eyes widened as she gained an inkling what the thief was planning. She entwined her arm from the golem and attempted to throw herself into the direction of a stream of wind and away from the incoming attack but the pressing wind kept her from moving far. Though her cape was bullet proof it wasn't perfect against blunt attacks: Migel body hit her hard. She was pitched away from the golem and helplessly into a stream of wind. She would have grabbed onto whatever was available in that instant but she was gasping for air, the blow having winded her.
Her eyes stung slightly from behind the mask due to the wind but they looked around wildly for Migel and the thief. She found Migel panting for breath and green faced, clinging not to the thief but the reawakening golem.

Mac took a quick slurp of the broth. It was pretty good to wake up too. Mac put down his broth and gingerly touched his new stitches. They were still very fresh and it was probably a bad idea to even touch them right now but Mac never did listen to reason to well...After a quick jolt of pain from simply touching them Mac sat back down.
"So, Do you want to know? At least, What I know?"

Activating the communicator in his suit, he called the store.
"Furin Kazan Comics, this is Kyoko Furin speaking. We're closed right now..."
"Cut the crap. I have a report, check the computer next to the database and encrypt it. I'm going to remain outside to scout some more." Hanging up, Itami then went to where he fired the rocket that inevitably was sent back to him.
Once he landed, he walked around. Golem was probably still alive and most likely reactivating, Golem's owner looks kind of sick. Then again, anyone about to puke would look like that. Then.. there's the woman who's out like a light. Even though he ruled the possibility of being spotted while making his move to the warehouse in question, he decided to scour the place. (did the thief bounce with said book in hand?)

And that thing that attacked me? I don't know exactly anymore. They wanted to make Super Humans as I told you all ready but I guess they wanted to make new powers....New combos...I heard one of them during my...Training sessions...Say that the next project was supposed to be Healing. I never did see the guy who said that again for some reason though. I guess It worked and they gave it Shape shifting as an added bonus..."

Mac got the chills just thinking if that thing was still alive after all of that. If so, then they had made a very powerful weapon indeed...It would be horrible too if they had more then more then one of those things.

"Shit. Oh well, I was here because of a spike in Drive Activity anyway and looks like I got what I came for." Itami thought as he looked at the golem.
Getting out the Ride Seige device attached to his belt, he attached the disk-like device to the golem, taking its composition and type and recording it for further beneficial use.
"I could use this. About time people stopped trying to mug the deliveries."
Once the process was complete, the Rider immediately made his exit before anyone realized what he was up to. It wasn't too hard. Just take the Golem Drive and get out. Good thing the owner wasn't active otherwise he'd have to break a few bones. Or a couple of legs. Or a skull.
Putting that aside, he made his way back to the store. Signaling Kyoko to open the door, he walked in and activated the newly acquired drive... only to customize it to look like some sort of super robot. And to have the same exact abilities. Which made Itami think he messed up somewhere, but in that state active or not... it restored energy required for its MAZINGETTER. 467 had finally reached the local Branch of Umbra in the city. It seemed to be a fairly average run of the mill Pharmacy. A rather Large Sign was tacked onto the front of the store simply saying "Pharmacy, Open 24 hours.". Even for some one was looking for Umbra, they'd have to look incredibly closely at the Sign to see that for some reason it had a "%" on in incredibly small print right after the 24. Of course, That was only a symbol to tell agents that it was either a safe house or a Branch office.
When it walked into the Pharmacy there was a rather bored looking lady behind the single register. She lazily looked at 467 then looked back at the register. 467 started to look around for the rights drugs to start the way in. 467 picked up some discount Pain killers, The most expensive Cough suppressant, and then lastly some sleeping pills. When 467 brought the items to the Lady she raised an eyebrow.
"So, How you going to pay for these?....."
"I've got a Card."
"....Which one?"
"The Black one."
"Ah, All right. Pin Number please"
"467."
The lady raised her eyebrow again. She knew that one, it was supposed to bring back back Zero. She shrugged, seemed it failed to catch Zero even though it was the best one they made so far. She Gestured 467 to go to the employee only room. 467 knew what to do next and walked into the employee only room. It was your average run of the employee only room to even inspectors. 467 calmly walked over to a rather comfy looking black chair and sat down. Suddenly the chair started to make rather odd beeping and scanning noises. This was activated by the lady at the counter when she saw 467 enter the room by hitting what seemed to be a silent alarm button.

As she rushed past she saw someone lying on the ground. She stopped top get a better look at it. The person was so smashed up she couldn't even be sure of their gender, but Rose thought it was a guy. He had rubble all over him and something that looked like a piece of metal on his arm.
"Are you, alive?" she asked him. The man just groaned. "Stay there, I'll get you some help!" said Rose.
"No, no doctors." he mumbled.
"Do you want the police then?" she asked,
"No, no police."
"What should I do?"
"Just, just take me somewhere safe." he said
"Okay, I'll take you to my house, you can rest there."
As she carried him home, she noticed he was surprisingly heavy and hard.

Luneth dialed one of her friends, who also had powers like her. She picked up.
"Hey Dawn. How have you been?" Luneth asked.
"Fine, you need my help?" Dawn answered.
"Yeah, me and a friend ran into something that wasn't exactly human. I beheaded it, but my greatest worry is the healing factor that thing has, so can you check?"
"Hold on Luneth. I'm getting a bit o' gossip here. The word is that someone's murdered in sort of alley. Not a nice sight, and there's some sort of aura around the area. The animals been avoiding it, but the murder happened right in the center of it."
"Did the aura go away?"
"No, that's the strange part. It moved."
"Okay, thanks."
"Hey, why don't I come over?"
"Sure." Luneth turned off the phone.
"Well, some bad news here, looks like that thing isn't dead, yet." She told Mac.
