"Really?" Nick turned and blinked at her. "Uh, if you want to talk more about drunk Edgy I guess we could." He turned to the counter girl. "I want apple, cinnamon, and a hint of caramel mixed into french vanilla." He told her.

"Please don't struggle, Mr. Edgeworth." The blurred female figure got closer. "You'll hurt yourself." The light glinted off something in her hands.

"This is really weird." Phoenix muttered to himself and went up to the first thing to catch his eye. The red light on the answering machine was flashing. "He must not have gotten back from the cafe. He always checks these." He walked up to the tea maker and pressed his hand on the top. "And there was no way he just didn't notice because this thing is cold. It stays warm for hours after he uses it." Nick put his fists on his hips and his eyes caught something else. "Hey, someone was in here." He walked over to Miles' desk and straightened the crooked leather mat. Then after some thought he shifted it back to the angle it was in.
Miles opened his eyes, but it took some real effort to keep them open.
"I stopped by your office today, honey, and got your favorite tea." The voice said. Miles opened his mouth to protest, but his throat was too dry to make noise and his tongue was refusing to move. "I'm going to have to go back though. I lost a contact lens and there is no way I could find it without being able to see." The bed beneath Miles started to hum and move until he was sitting upright. His body was now pulling down on the restraints around his wrists. The shadowed figure set a tray across his waist and sat down near him. Each time she moved Miles could smell flowers. "I made you a watercress sandwich too. I know how much you like those and that stupid boy ate yours. You must be famished." He didn't have much choice when she force fed him some sandwich and poured tea into his mouth which ended up getting more on his shirt than down his throat. He coughed when some of it went down his windpipe. "Oh dear, looks like we'll just have to practice this more."
The fluid and choking was good for one thing. It helped him find his voice.
"Are you insane?! Untie me!" He demanded. He yanked so hard on his bonds that it knocked his tray over. His captor was cleaning up when his cellphone went off.
"Calm down, honey." She said softly. "Oh there goes that phone again. I swear you get so many phone calls it's just downright silly." She huffed and his vision started to clear.
"You're that waitress from the cafe." He glowered.
"Well now, that's no way to talk to your wife." She frowned deeply at him.
"What?!" Miles snapped and struggled again. "You need clinical help!" He told her harshly. In response she laughed at him like he'd told some sort of joke.
"Oh, honey. You always know what to say." She brought the remnants of his mess over to a table and opened a small red case. Inside was a bottle and a syringe. Miles continued struggling, and gave her a very hard time getting the needle into his arm, but in the end she won and he slipped back into the black.
"Well I called twice and I'm not getting any reply." Nick sighed and put away his phone. "If he was somewhere he couldn't answer I would have at least gotten a pissed off text message."
