Iris tore her eyes away from the fiery half of her sister's spirit upon hearing the shrieks of the girl beside her. "Suzumi?!" Seeing her writhing on the floor, Iris knelt by her side and shook her in an attempt to pull her attention back to the real world. What had Dahlia done to her? "Suzumi! Suzumi, please hold on! You have to fight it!"

Dahlia's spirit rose up out of Suzumi's body slightly, servaying Iris.

"Foolish sister...I'm going to enjoy torturing this one. And it won't end with her. Oh Iris...if you had just played your part better and not let that idiot geek suspect something foul, this wouldn't be happening! After I'd left with the damn pendant, you could have told him..but no. Well, I'm going to make everyone else pay the consequences for your actions, you weak, insignifigant waste of a fool!"

Chris found himself pointing at the 'fake' Dahlia. "If it weren't for this, you wouldn't have that power! All you are is a bunch of borrowed power and my form! That's all you are! You aren't me! You never will be me! You're just pretending that you have a reason for revenge... when you really don't!"

Dahlia's weakness was trapped in Chris. Dahlia's wrath had moved over to Suzumi. There was only one thing left in Emi now. Dahlia's power. The flames of Dahlia wretched and writhed as they started to die down. Emi had no need or desire for such power and therefore, under her control, the flames were extinguished and the illusion of the spirit that had once been in her dissipated. There hadn't been much of Dahlia inside Emi. The 'weakness' she'd discarded was a greater portion of her human soul than she would have cared to admit, but when the consuming fraction of her wrath moved on it was the part of her warped by demonic power that remained.
She sat there stoically using the tissues to clean up blood. This partly sentient hellfire was probably the only thing that kept Emi from dying, and as long as it dwelled in her she would likely remain protected. There was also no chance of the power being misused (or even really used) as long as Emi wielded it. It was about time a fortunate turn of events came by this group.

[OOC: I got your PMs, Iris, but my browser isn't letting me send back. Assuming you're still checking up in here I suppose I'll have to inform you this way. I would have preferred telling you in a more private fashion, but I'm going to have to decline your wishes. Our group has grown too large for me to really handle as it is.]

Dahlia went back into Suzumi, who's entire expression changed, from fear to emotionless. She stood up, her eyes red.

"That's what you are. You can't change that easy. All those crimes...but you're just a pathetic weak version of my self!"

She strode across and gave a slap to Dahlia.

Her main power was still in that art girl...but, oh well. She could give the clear message with what she had.

She held up her finger and blew it. Fire streaked across, burning Chris's hand.

"If I'm just hatred in a shell...as you claim...I'll just have to become you. And therefore, I'll have to kill you. Defend yourself...and this girl will die. But, the torture I'm giving her makes her want to die, anyway...why not fullfill her wish? She is the reason. She and the others are the reason you're dead! How can you not revenge?!"

"Just come back and give yourself whole...sleep. Then, it'll all be over..."

Emi had just taken the tissues when a blood-curdling scream rent the air. "NO! NOOOOOO!" Startled, Gregor looked to the source. There he saw Suzumi clutching her head as if she had a migraine. "Please...make...it...stop...KILL ME! NOTHING IS WORSE THAN THIS!!!" Local response was immediate. Within seconds Iris was at her side, trying to shake some sense back into her. "Suzumi?! Suzumi! Suzumi, please hold on! You have to fight it!" Gregor wasn't sure if he could believe what he saw. His eyes informed him of the presence of two Dahlia apparitions floating amidst the snow, one simply peering over Suzumi's head as though partly submerged. "Foolish sister...I'm going to enjoy torturing this one. And it won't end with her. Oh Iris...if you had just played your part better and not let that idiot geek suspect something foul, this wouldn't be happening! After I'd left with the damn pendant, you could have told him, but no. Well, I'm going to make everyone else pay the consequences for your actions, you weak, insignificant waste of a fool!" At this point Chris spoke up, but his speech indicated that Dahlia was behind it. "Ha...ha ha...hahahahaha...Pay? ...My sister did nothing wrong. She followed what I told her, however wrong it may be...she has no reason to pay for anything!" Pointing an accusatory finger, "he" continued, "If it weren't for this, you wouldn't have that power! All you are is a bunch of borrowed power and my form! That's all you are! You aren't me! You never will be me! You're just pretending that you have a reason for revenge...when you really don't!" Three of them? ...Well, humans are triune beings: spirit, soul, and body...I guess that makes sense. So which is which?

It was then that he noticed that the apparition he had fought and been burned by had started fading, apparently against its will. He returned his gaze to Emi. No longer standing, she had begun to use the tissues and as she did so, the apparition continued to fade. Soon it had disappeared entirely. Immensely relieved, he beamed with pride. Perhaps it doesn't matter. You're a real trooper, Emi...a real trooper. You may not be particularly strong externally, but internally, you're as durable and precious as diamond. He was jolted out of his euphoria by a venomous feminine voice. "That's what you are. You can't change that easy. All those crimes...but you're just a pathetic, weak version of myself!" Again shifting his gaze, he saw Suzumi slap Chris. "How dare you!" "he" shrieked, "You wouldn't know what a real form is!" As "he" concluded this sentence, "he" gave Suzumi a violent slap. Now I know it's not Chris. "You're just hatred trapped in a shell!" Another slap followed. In a staccato voice, "he" emphasized each word of the next sentence with an additional slap. "You. Dirty. Little. BITCH!" The last slap was delivered with such force that it sounded more like an exploding firecracker than a physical blow. Gregor was now officially puzzled. A cat fight? "You...you dare mess with me?" Suzumi roared, "You stupid weakling!" Holding a finger up in front of her like a candle, she blew across it, causing flames to lick Chris' hand. "If I'm just hatred in a shell...as you claim...I'll just have to become you. And therefore, I'll have to kill you. Defend yourself...and this girl will die. But, the torture I'm giving her makes her want to die, anyway...why not fullfill her wish? She is the reason. She and the others are the reason you're dead! How can you not want revenge?! I won't allow you to kill anyone. No-one will die at your hands!" Wow...this is turning into a real soap opera. Doesn't seem to be much I can do right now. Might as well just watch. Shrugging, he prepared himself a spot in the snow and seated himself next to Emi, watching the show.

Bikini watched the sun dip.
"They're taking too long." She said to herself, but couldn't really do anything about it. If even a strong wind blew a leaf out of place she would have to repaint the circle, plus there was the sleeping Mr. Lucky. She had to check him for vital signs every few minutes or so. His heart was pumping much too fast from whatever dream he was having. Dahlia had really done a number on him. There was no telling what she was doing to the others.

Once most of the blood was cleaned off Emi's fingers started to twitch again. She'd been told to stay there and so she would, but her urge to draw was boiling up.

"Sister, please, stop this!" Iris thrust herself between Chris and Suzumi, arms outstretched. Then she paused for a moment, considering what she'd just said. "O-or should that be 'sisters'? ...I'm just not sure anymore..." She shook her head and refocused. As far as she could tell, there were three seperate parts to Dahlia right now; Emi was no longer surrounded by flames, but they'd receded into her, not passed to Suzumi. Which was her true sister? Were they all her?
In any case, the longer this went on, the longer everyone would suffer. Iris shot a glance to Gregor and Emi and called to them. "Gregor! Please, take Emily to Sister Bikini! We'll catch up with you!"

If the drama going on before his eyes wasn't so morbidly real, Gregor would've laughed. Nobody's going to believe that I saw Chris the pacifist repeatedly slap a woman. It's a good thing too. Otherwise, he'd never live it down. "Sister, please, stop this!" Enter emotionally torn mediator, stage right. "O-or should that be 'sisters'? ...I'm just not sure anymore..." Seeing that, Gregor couldn't help but grin. That's the question of the day, now isn't it? Watching Iris shake her head, Gregor was surprised to see her look directly at him. "Gregor! Please, take Emily to Sister Bikini! We'll catch up with you!" Sister Bikini...? Oh yes, her! Cupping his hands to his mouth, he called back, "Will do." He turned to his companion. "You hear that, Emi? Looks like we're off to find Sister Bikini. Let's see if we can't get this monkey business settled once and for all. Once that's done, we can run your errand. Whatever you want, it's on me. You've earned it. ...Need a hand?"

"No, thank you." Emi said dully and stood. It seemed she was back to as normal as she would ever be. Her expression was flat and uninterested as they walked. The show crunched lightly under her feet in rhythm to her steady pace. Each placement of her foot was precise and even. Emi habitually walked like this and had never really put much thought into why. It only made sense to do it that way. It was her mother that always had some sort of problem with it. She'd even sent Emi to dance school from seven to twelve in an attempt to get it fixed. All it really did was add the sense of rhythm.

"No, thank you." Seeing Emi begin to stand up under her own power, Gregor nodded and followed suit. Together they set out. Their mission: find Bikini. Now if we knew where to go... He scanned the immediate vicinity. No sign of the nun. Well, if Iris told us to look for her, she has to be nearby...somewhere. Might as well treat it as an adventure. It was nice having feminine company as he searched, even if she didn't do much to remind him of her presence. Truth be told, the quiet was rather good for his nerves. The light, rhythmic crunch of her footfalls amused him. Such an even stride...it kind of suits her. A few seconds later, he could barely contain his mirth. In fact, it's kind of cute. By sheer luck--or perhaps it was providence--they came across a most unusual sight. Phoenix lay unconscious in the snow. Alright, we've found Phoenix...but where's Bikini? Walking in closer to investigate, he was about five feet away from Phoenix when he bumped into something. He looked down. "Oh! Hello, Sister Bikini...Iris sent us here. She says she'll catch up with us. I'm presuming she means with Chris and Suzumi in tow."

In an immediate response to his presence Bikini splattered water on him. She then splattered some on Emi as well. The reaction it had with Emi was different than the one with Gregor. As soon as it hit her skin it evaporated off in a light white steam.
"This must be the possessed girl." Bikini smiled. "She's more docile than I had expected. Ah well! When Chris arrives I can begin the exorcism!" Emi wandered over to the paint Bikini had used to mark the snow with kanji. "AH! DON'T TOUCH THAT!" Bikini yelped. Emi, of course, didn't. Her hands were starting to twitch more noticeably.

Before a word of response reached his ears, Gregor found himself being splattered with water. Puzzled, he lifted his newly moistened hand in front of his face to give it a cursory inspection. Phew! It's times like this I'm glad I have a relatively dull sense of smell. Watching Bikini repeat the procedure with Emi, he saw it evaporate as soon as it touched her skin. Holy water, eh? Memories of the last Catholic funeral he had attended came back to him. He recalled the curious spectacle of seeing a relative of the deceased sprinkle water onto the coffin before it was lowered. He smiled. He was brought back to the present when Bikini spoke. "This must be the possessed girl. She's more docile than I had expected. Ah well! When Chris arrives I can begin the exorcism!" Seeing Emi approach the mark in the snow, he couldn't help but be amused at Bikini's panicked reaction. "AH! DON'T TOUCH THAT!" It was then that he noticed Emi's hands were twitching, as if they needed something to do. Is she feeling the urge to draw? I should see if I can produce something to help her pass the time. If we have to wait anyway... He rummaged through his backpack, pulled out a small notebook and a pencil. He needed the notebook for his Russian class, but it couldn't hurt to let her have a couple pages from the back. "Need something to do while we wait?"

Emi took the pencil and notebook with no hesitation, flopped down onto the slow, and started to draw. She didn't utter a word of thanks to Gregor or even really give him a cursory glance. Bikini's thick body shadowed over her.
"What do you say?" She reprimanded with her hands sitting on her round hips. Emi blinked at her. "Tell the man thank you." Bikini declared. Emi turned her head smoothly towards Gregor.
"Thank you." She said in her deep soft voice before returning to her drawing.

Gregor was pleased to see that he had read Emi correctly. Immediately she accepted the pencil and notebook, flopped down onto the snow, and started drawing. He didn't really need thanks, least of all today. Her acceptance of his offer was thanks enough. Even so, it touched him to see Bikini stick up for him. "What do you say? Tell the man thank you." With a graceful turn of the head, Emi did as she was instructed. "Thank you." Smiling indulgently he purred, "You're welcome." Turning to Bikini he continued, "It's alright, Sister Bikini. She's earned the right to be a little selfish today. After all, only a little while ago, I pinned her against the floor and kicked her into a wall. Granted, there were extenuating circumstances but...you know what I mean."

"I'm surprised you managed to get her here conscious." Bikini smiled in that way that was most distinctly hers. "And so calm too. Most girls in her position would be freaking out right about now." She rummaged through her clunky bag. "Then again, I suppose, she isn't at all like most girls, is she? Seems a bit weak in the noggin. What do they call it now a days? Um..." Bikini popped up and looked over at Emi. "What do they call what you have, hun?"
"Schizoid personality disorder." Emi answered flatly and directly.
"Well I was looking for one of those politically correct terms, but...or is that it? You tend to lose sight of political correctness when you live on a mountain."

Dahlia suddenly grabbed Iris by her hair and pulled her, clutching her neck and hair.

"I will say this only once. Merge back to me, so that I can double in power! Or...she dies."

As if to show she wasn't kidding, Dahlia's nails pressed into Iris's throat, then she slowly started to strangle her.

"Yes...you see? The one thing that would shut you up is the torture...or death, is the death of Iris. Tee hee..."

Iris screamed in pain at having her hair yanked, but was quickly silenced by the hands around her throat. She clawed weakly at Suzumi's fingers to no avail; the day's events had taken their toll on her strength, and now she was being robbed of her oxygen. As she gasped for air, a trickle of blood flowed from a tiny cut in her neck where Suzumi's nails had begun to pierce. Maybe most people would have worried about losing consciousness or even dying in this situation, but that wasn't the worst thought crossing Iris' mind; it was the possibility that Dahlia would give in to her dark half's demands and sacrifice herself to save her.
"Sister..." Iris squeaked, fighting to keep the tears in her eyes from falling and failing miserably. "Please...don't..."

"S-Stop it!" Dahlia forced Chris' body to step forward and grab out towards Iris, but Chris regained control and pulled back. 'No! If we go any further, she'll kill her!'

'N-No! Sister!' She couldn't take it anymore. Without another second's notice, Chris' body seemed to snap to attention as he rushed forward and slammed Suzumi into the ground, forcing her to release Iris from her grip. "Nobody... nobody tries to kill my SISTER!" She used Chris' body and temporarily forced what little strength her good half had to keep Suzumi's arms pinned to the ground, as well as her legs using his own.

"I-Iris! Answer me, sister! Are you okay!?" Chris' head looked over to Iris, while Chris' own voice called out to the only one still there. "Doug! Please, help me take Suzumi back to Sister Bikini! I... I can't hold her down for much longer!"

Iris fell to her knees and into a coughing fit upon being released. She held her neck tenderly and, once she could manage, choked out an answer with a smile. "Y-yes, I'm fine. Thank you, sister..." She desperately wanted to help restrain Suzumi, but she was having enough trouble keeping herself from toppling completely over at this point, so she'd just be getting in the way again...

Dahlia was slammed to the ground by her good side, she tried to struggle, but it was no use.

"Damn...get OFF of me!!" She shrieked.

"Make it...stop..."
Suzumi was back surrounded by nothing, her hands on her head. Suddenly, the picture of Dahlia's face came into view.

"I suppose I have little choice...but who says this won't be fun?"
Flashes of Suzumi's past came into her mind. The verdict, the poisoning, the car crash, the bridge set alight...

"N-Noooo! Please, stop it!!" Suzumi shrieked, now yelling out so it could be heard outside her mind.

Phoenix's eyes popped open. Iris' scream could be heard from outside and while Bikini was a little concerned by it, she was more angry about the fact that this boy kept breaking her talismans.
"You can't take a possession, but you rip through my talismans like paper?!" Bikini snapped. If things didn't start getting better in only a few seconds Bikini was about to let a string of very bad words fly from her lips. Phoenix got up sluggishly with the talisman still pressed against his forehead. He looked to be heavily fighting unconsciousness with each movement. "Stop him!" Bikini yelled.
Emi looked up from her work for the briefest of seconds, slowly stood, stepped directly in front of him, and pushed him lightly on the chest. Phoenix fell backwards onto the snow and attempted to get up again. Emi continued to push him down when he got to his feet. After the fifth round of this Bikini procured a second paralysis talisman and pressed it against Phoenix's spine. He stiffened and fell forward. "My GOD you're persistent." Bikini sighed. "And not in a helpful way either." Emi sat down where she stood and went back to drawing.

Doug wasn't sure what to do when Dahlia/Suzumi began to attack Iris, or how to help Dahlia/Chris restrain her. It didn't help that he couldn't tell which one was which. But there had to be a way, one simple way for Dahlia to give up. He'd researched Dahlia's past during the gap between the Bridge incident and then, but he couldn't find any on record except for the fact that her father died. Besides, she wouldn't feel guilty for him or anything she did, even if she'd tricked a learning-difficultied man into killing himself.

But then there was the scream, and he suddenly got it. There would be ONE person she'd be afraid of, or at least he hoped she would. But he didn't have any other options. He ran over to Suzumi and put a hand on her shoulder, and began to concentrate. His goal was simple; he needed to contact Mr. Hawthorne and ask him to deal with Dahlia.

(OOC: Yes, that thing was an ironic reference to Terry Fawles, the poor sap :( )

Upon hearing the scream, Gregor winced. Should I go investigate? ...No, Doug's over there and aside from Bikini, I'm the only one able to keep an eye on Emi in case the worst should happen. I'd better stay here. Bikini brought unexpected levity to the situation when she lost her temper as Phoenix started stirring. "You can't take a possession, but you rip through my talismans like paper?!" Phoenix moved as if submerged in molasses, but apparently he wasn't supposed to be moving at all, judging by Bikini's reaction. "Stop him!" Gregor stood on the alert, ready to intercept Phoenix should he wander too far. Still, he couldn't keep himself from smiling. Uh-oh...He's slowly getting away! What followed caused him to shake with muffled laughter. Emi looked up from her work, stepped in front of Phoenix, and pushed him lightly on the chest, causing him to fall backward. Immediately--albeit slowly--he tried to get back up, but the effort was futile. Another light push from Emi and he was once again supine. This process was to repeat itself three more times before Bikini produced another talisman and with an angry expression that looked comical on her squat form, pressed it against his spine. Once again inert, he stiffened and fell forward. "My GOD you're persistent. And not in a helpful way either." Free to concentrate on her work, Emi sat back down and resumed drawing. Unsure what else he could be doing at the moment and--more to the point--uncertain that he could look Bikini in the eye without laughing, Gregor stood near Emi and attempted to see what she was drawing. After all, it might very well be important if the urge was strong enough to cause her hands to twitch.

The events that had just unfolded were quickly and precisely sketched onto the paper. Along the margins what had happened during the fire was depicted as well. None of the pictures had Emi in them, after all she couldn't very well see herself in the situations, but they did show many things that she'd interacted with directly. Including several sketches of the pained look on Gregor's face while he fought her, the ones of confusion and epiphany on Doug's, the ones of anger on Chris', the ones of smugness and horror that flicked back and forth on Suzumi's, the look of desperate determination on Iris', all of them framed in fire, but none of them showing Dahlia. This could have been because Emi couldn't physically see Dahlia or, just as likely, she no longer considered her existence even worth committing to paper.

Meanwhile Phoenix dreamed of tar covered bunnies while Bikini painstakingly repainted a kanji that had been smudged in all the fuss.
"If they don't get here soon I'm going to have to chant in the dark." Bikini said this mostly to herself. "I hate chanting in the dark. It's so spooky."

Gregor had been amazed at Emi's talent before, but this work struck him dumb with awe. Immortalized on the paper were all the events and people of the last hour--Doug, Chris, Suzumi, Iris, and himself...all seen through a frame of fire. Each face seemed to leap off the page. This must be her primary mode of self-expression. The emotions her subjects are experiencing shine forth with the brilliance of a star. ...How did she draw all this from memory? This could practically serve as written testimony in a court of law! After several seconds of reverent silence had passed, a light bulb came on in his head and curiosity restored his powers of speech. "Excuse me, Emi...is that how you see the world right now? Through a frame of fire?"

Emi looked up at him just as blankly as she normally would.
"Yes." She answered bluntly.
"Really?" Bikini was more surprised that she hadn't thought to ask that herself than at the fact Emi was seeing things this way. "What happened, exactly?" Emi handed her the notebook as her answer. Bikini looked through it carefully. "I see." She muttered to herself. "This isn't good. This isn't good at all." She grumbled. "I'm going to have to make ANOTHER circle!" She tossed the book back to Emi, who proceeded to draw on it again, and began to paint kanji as she had been doing before.

Stefan had been following something. Not a person, but something. He didn't know what it was - just that it was taking him somewhere. Screw where and why, he was going there.

The thing he was following was Stefan's guardian angel. No, that's wrong. The principle - a being who interfered with his life - was the same, but it had a rather different effect. It was more like a poltergeist/yurei, really... A troublemaker and malicous spirit. It was leading him on, and it soon arrived near the group - and it's attention was attracted to the kanji. If it had been willing to show what it looked like to the people there, it would of grinned very widely. It walked near to the nearest kanji symbol, kneeling down. It looked at one thin finger, and placed it on the kanji. It screwed it's eyes up, not enjoying the sensation of pain. It was hard for a spirit to interact with reality without a host to do so. The spirit merely allowed the pain to reach it's fingers, where he attempted to smudge the kanji.

((Of course, if she's drawing with something that can't be smudged, it can't smudge it. And if anyone has a problem with this, ask and I'll use the magical edit button of stuff. Or Gerk will D= ))

As Emi answered him, Gregor thought he sensed a deeply buried, profound emotion stirring within her, silently coloring her answer, thickening it to the point that the air felt viscous. "Yes." There was nothing passionate about her speech and actions individually, but the way they added up suggested something. A whole is more than the sum of its parts. What exactly this emotion--or mix of emotions--was, he couldn't tell for certain. It was buried too deep. Perhaps it was sorrow. Perhaps it was relief at the discovery that someone was willing to listen uncritically. Perhaps it was love. Then again, perhaps it was a figment of his imagination. Whatever it was, it moved him. "Really?" he heard Bikini pipe up. "What happened, exactly?" In silent answer, Emi handed her the notebook. He studied Bikini's expression as she leafed through. "I see. This isn't good. This isn't good at all. I'm going to have to make ANOTHER circle!" With irritation plainly visible on her face, Bikini tossed the notebook back to Emi, who resumed drawing as if nothing had happened. Didn't think that frame of fire was good news. ...She might be overreacting--I saw Emi wrest control away from Dahlia with my own two eyes--but it can't hurt to be prepared for the worst. Better too careful than not careful enough.

"Hey! You stop that!" Bikini snapped at Stefan like he were a stray cat eating her garbage. She even hobbled over the popped him on the head. "I need everything the way it is or else my chants will be warped! Do you want warped chanting? I think not!" She grabbed Stefan by the ear and pulled him away from the smudging.
Emi ran the pencil along the page in smooth mechanical motions. Her face showed no hint of expression, but her eyes had widened. Had there been sufficient lighting they would have turned yellow. Her intense stare settled on Phoenix. He wasn't moving, but her drawings weren't of him. They had gotten abstract and disconnected. Emi had never felt the need to draw this way, but when she looked at him her hand couldn't connect the lines and shadows properly. It was...fascinating.

Doug continued to concentrate, but it didn't seem to be working at all; Suzumi kept writhing and crying and he had a hard time stopping her from hurting herself. But suddenly she just... stopped. Her breathing slowed down, her eyes glazed over and she began to smile softly. It was now or never; Doug needed to move her to where Bikini was. He slowly lifted her onto his shoulders and slowly began to walk. He turned around to the others and signaled to them to follow him, and he continued slowly onwards; even though his back was in agony.

"You're one to talk, after that scene," muttered Chris.

He then quickly followed Doug, wanting to make sure that Suzumi/Dahlia didn't try to break out of his grasp.

In his mind, he spoke 'So... have you decided what you're going to do?'

'...What do you mean?'

'Well, obviously you can't stay inside my head forever... you're going to have to choose whether to get purified or leave back to Hell.'

'... But I can't be purified. Think of all the things I did!'

'I think if you accept your wrongs and prove that you can make a difference by coming back every so often, you can be purified.' He walked onward.
