Indy smirked, dusting off his hat. "Who needs a fez when you've got this?" he said proudly, putting it back on to continue looking. Even those few seconds without the hat on made Indy realize how hot Cairo really was. He called out for Salim, but there was no visible response from the people around him. "There has to be a better way..."

"Perhaps I could buy a new hat here!" Jefferson said, beginning to peruse the stalls. "Call me when you find him!" he said, looking into a merchant's stall full of headwear.

"Pardon me, good sir, do you speak English?" he asked. The salesman looked at him.

"Parla Inglese?" The same response.

"Habla Ingles? Sprechen Sie Englisch? Eigo wo hanase masu ka?" For all three, the same response.

"...waaaah" Jefferson whined.

Rose looked around the bazaar. She thought of asking a merchant, but figured she would just end up buying more fruit. Usually, there was police walking around the bazaar, to stop thieves. A ha!

"<Excuse me sir, we are looking for a man named Salim. Do you know where he is?>"

"<Salim.... Try over there by those camels.>"

"<Thank you very much!>" she turned to Indy. "He said to look by those camels."

Indy grinned. "'Atta girl!" he said, now mindful of her appreciation of his thanks. He went over to the camels and spoke to the first man he saw, a skinny, shifty-eyed man in a blue vest. "Salim?" he asked, and the man turned his head, saying something in Arabic Indy couldn't understand. He held up a hand and beckoned Rose over to speak to him.

Salim eyed her suspiciously, his gaze darting from her to Indy to another man they couldn't see. "<Who are you looking for?>" he asked, in a shaky voice. It was obvious he was a very jittery man.

Rose kept smiling as she talked. "<We are looking for a man named John Ruthers.>" she said, calmly. She made sure to keep her voice calm, hopefully to help the man feel less jittery.

Jefferson returned to the group, wearing an Arabian style headwrap. "I have to say, although it isn't my fashion preference, it does keep away the sun quite nicely!" He was wearing a nice suit, bow tie, and glasses while wearing a head wrap.

He looked at Indy threatening a man. "An altercation of some sort?" he asked.

Indy rolled his eyes and grabbed Salim by the collar, throwing him onto the table in front of him. "Tell us where Ruthers is!" he yelled, and Salim whimpered in terror. "<He is south of here! He lives in a plaza, there is a well in the middle! Please, don't hurt me!>" he shouted. "What'd he say?" Indy asked Rose, still clutching the nervous man.

Jefferson wanted to go and pull Indy away from the man, but he knew that Indy would be able to overpower him, so instead he said, "Sir Indiana, I'm sure violence isn't the answer to this problem! Please unhand the poor man!"

Indy looked over at Rose and laughed. She had no idea what really went on around the world like he did. Maybe if he brought her along on adventures more often, but that was behind them. They found the plaza, now it was a matter of finding John amidst everyone here. "Look for anyone out of place," he said.

There were varying skin tones, but it wouldn't be hard to pick out an Englishman. "Then again, white men could be the Nazis as well...but they would be dressed like Nazis, with the boots and hats..."

Indy stroked his chin, looking through all the people, when out of a small building a white man, dressed in a fancy suit with a tie emerged and went into the street, clutching a big scroll with a smile on his face. Indy approached him immediately. "John Ruthers?" he asked, and John blinked. "Why, yes, that's me! John Ruthers, how do you do?"

Rose somehow got lost in the crowd. "Ah!" she tried to weave her way around, but to no avail. The people were very rude. Pushing her, shoving her... She was a small woman so it was easy to push her around. "<Hey! Watch it!>" eventually, she sprung out of the crowd and onto the ground. It was only by fate she ended up where Indy was. "O-Ow..."

Jefferson wiggled his way through the crowd. He noticed Indy's fedora and as he got closer saw him talking to another man. That must be him, he thought. He walked up to them, and tripped. He got back up fast before he was trampled.

John dusted himself off. "This is a ghastly place for a meeting. Please, follow me into my home, we will go on with our discussion." He led them all through the door and inside to his dining room, where there was a large table set. All around them were ancient artifacts, including Greek vases, Aztec statues and Chinese fortune sticks. "Now, how may I help you?"

Jefferson was absolutely amazed by the collection this man had in his dining room alone. "Absolutely marvelous!" he exclaimed. He examined the Greek vases. "Truly rare pieces!" Other than the few complements, he was utterly speechless. The room was full of history of various cultures.

Being an antiquarian, being in such a room was almost euphoric for him.

Unlike Jefferson, Rose wasn't that interested in all this. She was really only interested on noxian artifacts. While the stuff was nice, she just wasn't interested. "It is indeed very nice." she said politely.

Indy, however, was there along with Jeffrey admiring everything on the walls. He could name every artifact's origin, and gawked at the thought of how he could have gotten this.

John smiled, proud of his collection. "Why, thank you all. Although modest, I do enjoy having such treasures. Now, how might I help a lovely young lady such as yourself? And the gentlemen as well, of course," he said to the two men fixated on his things.

"We are actually here regarding the lost civilization of Nox," began Jefferson. "We have acquired the Rod of Light from a man whose name escapes me in Istanbul, Turkey. According to Sir Indiana and Miss Rose, this is one of two pieces of a key of some sort. I am a bit hazy on the details, so I'll let the two of you continue." He motioned toward Indy and Rose.

John nodded. "I see. You found Hassan, then? You all must be very interested in this treasure." Indy nodded. "We have to get to it before the Nazis do." John led them into a backroom, where inside a rare vase he pulled out a brilliant, blue jewel. "The Eye of Nox," he presented with a flourish. "It was said to be able to connect to the Rod of Life to bring back the dead. With the Rod and Eye together, their civilization would have been everlasting." Indy scratched his head. "I guess that didn't work out, huh? The staff and the Eye aren't magical at all." John tutted. "Don't be so sure, Mr. Ford." Indy paused. "Wait. How do you know my name?"

John smiled. "Well, the Nazis have been telling me all about you, Indiana. I'm sorry for this, I truly am." Suddenly, Franz and his squad burst through the door, seizing Rose, Jeffrey, Peter and Indy and taking the Rod of Life. Franz grabbed the Eye from John and looked at it with a dark smile. "Well, Mr. Ford, zank you for falling into my trap. Mr. Ruthers and Mr. Al-Asir were vorking vith us for a share of ze treasure." John nodded and wrung his hands. "So, Mr. Liebenschwartz, I will get a share, then?" he said eagerly, but Franz smacked him with his pistol. "You vill get nothing! Ze treasure belongs to the Fuhrer, fool!" He turned again to the group, his eyes scanning each one of them. "It looks like zis is the end of ze line," he said with a smug chuckle.
