The mimics were encapsulated again, and like before, burst in frightful screams.
The eye that Flux had targeted watched him intently. No reaction came as he twisted and wrought his magic, and prepared for that final blow. Yet, the split second before he struck the eye, it vanished entirely, not even sinking into the wall as the others had taken the time to do.
Hands emerged from below, grasping blindly for Flux's and Saile's legs.

"Truth or not, that doesn't absolve you from your past." Was his retort. "I am Saile. I'm going to kill you, Nadine. I'm going to kill you, or you will kill me first."
With a howl, a jet of air erupted from the end of the lance, and he was propelled at high velocity toward Nadine. All the while, he muttered "I am Saile. I'm going to kill you, Nadine. I am Saile..."

Changes had occurred during their intersession. The armor remains encasing Adam's legs and back had spread out like a plant. Tendrils of crystal reached down his arms and across his chest, piercing into his very body, creating a figurative network around and through his body.
His eyes still clamped shut, his mind still idle, Adam's body slowly reared up on it's own...

The sun outside the school building had changed form. No longer shining intensely to look at, it had taken a softer glare. Light still poured from it to brighten the skies, but now it had become a giant eye. It had the unmistakable red iris of the unnamed-being whom Walt had seen before. Gazing down across the city, and occasionally 'blinking' from day to night, this sudden phenomenon acted of a unique free will, searching across the dreamscape...

Stupid hands. Saile replied as he pulled himself up, looking straight into the eyes of the Nadine that had lost it's arms and the people pulling her out of the ground. ((Floor Nadine lost her arms, boo hoo hoo.))

"I'm fine," Walt croaked, then he cleared his throat. "Rest is unnecessary...That eye..." He looked up at it. "I have to destroy it. Hmph..." He frowned in concentration, thinking up the spell for an air sword to stab into the eye, but to no avail. Wha-? Shit, I forgot. I can't use my magic once I transfer to someone else's mind! Walt sighed an aggravated sigh. "What is the fastest way to the roof?"

He dodged and dodged and dodged again. But he was sure he wouldn't be able to hold their attacks off for much longer.
"Saile! We need to get out!" Flux bellowed. He remembered the impending disaster about to kill them all. "Oh, crud! Saile we really need to get out now! Any ideas?!"

It was almost like watching the remains of a burnt tree collapse into ash. Within moments, most of 'Saile' had dissolved. Even still, the lance continued toward Nadine, as a missile propelled by the kinetic force put into it.

Within moments, several more arms burst from the floor and caught Saile as he pulled the one mimic free. Their collective strength tried to force him to the ground, while at the same moment, the freed 'Nadine' vanished into thin air.
Falling from an eye from the ceiling, a new mimic landed gingerly behind Flux. Her wings spread out and reached around him, and she held out her arms as if to give him an embrace-- the sincerity of the gesture defied by the daggers held tightly in her hands, and the cold look in her eyes that outshined the smile on her face.

Zachery was silent. He gazed up at the eye, which was now scouring the city below for... something.
Someone.
"As a teacher, I cannot support your choices for this battle." He said. The tone of his voice was no longer as cheery as he had been before. It held the same weight in it that his conscious self had. "However, life is all about choices. We cannot learn and grow if we do not make the proper moves and mistakes."
He swung the door open for Walt. "The logical route to the roof is nonexistent. Use the playground-- there's a jungle-gym close to the building."
A voice echoed forth. It was neither near nor far, but the clarity was pristine.
"...Biolink reestablished-- Calibrating equation for lost time-- Resuming command prompt-- TIME UNTIL IMPACT: 19 SECONDS-- Searching brainwaves for source of-- Attempting repeated establishment with ARANMULA UNIT-000; Success: 0%-- Executing transferal of appropriated genetic material to Laboratory District 'Lazarus'-- Streaming Data to Chancellery office--..."

"Aaargh!" he cried, moving as fast as he could through the arms, which wasn't very fast. "Fira!" A ring of fire appeared around him, moving out and back in repeatedly. He began to bandage the wound with the first aid kit in his satchel. "Saile! Plan! Now! Knight's Arrows!" More arrows apparated and followed the mimics.

Once inside the now closed armor the inner parts turned to liquid and went into Flux's arm.
A flash, and they were one.

Flail smiled; the cheeky smile of the alien, but at the same time the dark grin of hatred.
Dark Knight's Arrows! Sux's wings sprang open and the feathers flew out, but just before they hit the target you could see they changed to arrows.
When the arrows hit the Nadines they didn't explode, instead they imploded. crushing the Nadine in a microscopic blackhole.

Flail\Sux moved towards the middle of the room. He imagined a powerful area blow could release them. "Shadow Materia!"
The ability took a while to charge, but basically, it would unleash a deadly shadow-cloaked meteor upon the room, obliterating it.
In the mean time, the new being fended off it's opponents with a variety of physical and magical attacks.

The pieces had been moved into place.
"Executing operation..."

The lance incinerated, but the flames didn't stop. Out of control and as fast as quicksilver, they spread across the entirety of the walls, engulfing everything in wreaths of flame. Walls turned to dust, revealing countless numbers of large, red eyes embedded within the walls and floor.
Finally, the first wall fell away, revealing a larger room. A figure, new to Nadine, was within. It was armored and unrecognizable. A black aura surrounded it.
The chant restarted, "I am Saile. I'm going to kill you, Nadine..."
That is the lie she was shown...

Abruptly, the steady flow of clones had stopped. The room that the merger of Saile and Flux was in suddenly shook, and as if the entire building was a beast itself, groaned. The far wall suddenly opened itself up, teeth lining the edges of the two halves as it split apart. Standing within was another 'Nadine'. She had a bright red aura surrounding her.
Yet, the most striking feature was that her face, unlike the past clones, was obscured. Blurred out, so that only through the corner of your eye could you look at her face directly.
That is the deception they were shown...

The full truth behind the events that took place was obscured in illusion. Eve, hidden within the room, gazed silently as she reunited the separated allies. But she would not let them join forces.
It was her 'world', and she had control. Control over sights and sounds. She manipulated both sides of the wall, altering what one person saw compared to the other, all the while silencing their voices from the each other.
They had been revealed to each other now, each unknowingly decorated with the falsities Eve wanted them to see.
That the puppet-master wanted them to see.
((I'm not going to lie, I'm nearly out of ideas.))

The heat from the flames immediately washed over Nadine, and she broke into a sweat. Even though she couldn't be burned, the heat was still almost unbearable. Squinting at the figure coming towards her, she felt a surge of irritation. She'd already made it quite clear that by 'killing' the fake Saile, the mirages were no longer effective.
Stop it! Throwing out an arm, she channeled some of the heat energy around her through it and into electricity, sending crackling bolts of lightning towards the shady figure.

"It seems I've been making more mistakes lately," Walt mumbled to himself as Zachery opened the door for him, saying there was no logical path to the roof, so he'd have to take the playground's jungle gym to the roof.
"Thanks," he said to Zachery before running outside. He had to grab something, anything sharp from the playground. He looked at the slides, the see-saw, the merry-go-round, and the jungle gym, then down at the sand floor. Argh! There was nothing he could use as a weapon...Well, there was some sporting equipment out, so he could use a basketball, a baseball, a baseball bat, and sand, but nothing practical. He supposed it would have to do as he pocketed the baseball, baseball bat, basketball, and as much sand as he could fit. This was going to be fun. Then, a voice rang out. From what he could gleam, it meant he only had nineteen seconds to get rid of the eye...and he must force it out before it found Zachery. He jumped onto the jungle gym effortlessly, then ran across and leaped onto the roof. Now what? Walt thought. I gotta do something...something to get its attention. Hm... He pulled out the baseball and bat. I hope this works. He threw the ball into the air, then whacked it with the bat. The ball went sailing straight toward the eye with a mighty "CRACK!"

She was given no time to think, her eyes widening as multiple strikes suddenly swung her way. Using her previous, ungraceful but effective tactic, Nadine threw herself to the ground out of the blade's range. Again landing heavily on her wounded arm, she cried out briefly before rolling to her feet. The wound had started to heal with the heightened angel powers, but the fall had split it open again.
Fueled by her pain, she threw her hands forward to send a barrage of fireballs in the figure's direction as she dove to the side to retrieve her dagger from where she had killed the previous 'Saile'.

All things faded away, and the scene before Walt changed. Skies, lands, city and the sounds of life were swept away, quickly replaced by a colorless void, filled with small fragments of light in motion, zooming directionally forward and backward. A tunnel of glimmering figments.
By that same phenomenon, something started to lift Walt off his feet.
"Curiouser and curiouser..." Said a cold and disembodied. "Not an impossible virus nor attempted hacker, but you.... You have no idea of how glad I am, to see that your strength of will is so much more potent than I had originally... anticipated."

"Curiouser and curiouser." That voice. Walt could swear he heard it before, and racked his memory, trying to think of when and where. As the voice continued to speak, he thought of the "non-living organism" that spoke to him in the desert. Could this voice and that thing be one and the same?

A flurry of the streaming particles condensed together before Walt, and he was no longer alone. The stray bits of light condensed into a single shape, a human outline; it was all white light, and bore no features.
It's arrival was accompanied by a tugging sensation, the same invisible force that lifted Walt now trying to pull him along the near endless tunnel.

A ring of the lights formed around Walt. They faintly pulsed red, and circled at a slower pace than the rest of the tunnel. They were close enough to be easily seen, and although they themselves were impossible to clearly see, they left very discernible trails of tiny 1's and 0's hanging in the air.

Readying her dagger to attack the shaded figure, Nadine only managed to take a single step forward before the unseen orb behind her collided with her back. Agony shot up her spine and she was launched forward to land on her front on the hard, concrete floor. Gasping, Nadine's eyes screwed shut as the energy from the magical balls fizzled through her, sending spasms through her limbs. When the spasms subsided, she turned her head to the side, breath coming as ragged, uneven panting.

Even though her face was blurred Sux still didn't feel right hitting this person.
He decided to inspect it closer and pulled out his blade, It looked nothing like the blade Saile used, and in no way was a weapon Flux handled.
Flail stood abvove the Nadine now, inspecting her.
((Hurr, Saile and Walt fused would be Wail or Salt.))

"Inadequate information? Elaborate further? Geez, I thought you were smart," Walt said. Then, a ring of light that seemed to spew out binary numbers formed around him.
"Nice light show," he commented. "Dissect my data and memory cache?. Like a video game? Okay...I used magic to put my consciousness into his: a very risky, advanced, yet effective spell. Need I say more?" As he spoke, Walt tried to discern the red lights in case they were going to close in, but he couldn't clearly see them. Just the 1s and 0s they left hanging in the air.

The red ring began to crackle, and small electrical volts started to run up and down between the light and Walt. There was something else along with it, like the sixth sense one often feels of prying eyes upon them.
"What center of the body do you focus upon to draw this required energy from?
How do you call it forth?
Is there a required incantation or symbol for this?
What is the trigger?
What are the costs?
What are the requirements?
What does it feel like?

The tugging at Walt increased it's force, and the lights along the tunnel started to move faster in both directions. The silhouette pointed to Walt.
"You are nothing more than data to be used by us. Will you cooperate, or will we have to force it out of you before the upload is completed?"

Pausing only for a moment, a small shiver ran through Nadine's body before she cleared her throat tentatively. ...What do you want? she said, her usual 'spunk' of talking to the enemy somehow not present in her voice. This figure was all too familiar. Even though it didn't look a thing like Saile, or any other person for that matter, the shape was...familiar. Disturbingly so.

"'Mere data'? Hmph. Shows how much you know," he said indignantly. "People are not 'mere data' that can be controlled by you and whoever else you were talking about when you used the term 'us'!" Before the upload is completed? What's that supposed to mean? Does it mean...? No! I need to get out of here NOW! Walt scanned the area around him to see electric volts running between him and the light...assuming he tried to escape, they would probably zap him. He also noted the light moving faster in both directions. And it seemed he was going further down the tunnel. Perhaps he could stall the silhouette if he explained in a way that confused it even more? Like, maybe he could answer the questions, but vaguely enough that it would press him for more details?
"Well, now, where were we? Oh, yeah. Magic comes from two centers of the body: the mind and the breath. The breath provides the energy, the mind calls it forward. Yes, there is a required incantation for every spell you cast, even if you manage to do it non-verbally. The trigger...is unknown. No one knows why some people can cast spells while others can't. It costs energy..." Walt averted his eyes. "And more...if you fail." He paused a moment, then picked back up. "It requires patience and determination. You won't get any spell right on your first try. And the first time you use magic, it feels as if you've been hit by a ton of bricks. After that it feels...exhilarating. Like you can do anything." Okay, that was probably just detailed enough that this thing won't come inside me and extract my memories, but vague enough that it'll have to press me...I hope.

"The incantation is simply an utterance of the correct words, usually accompanied by a motion," he answered. "As for the factor...I already said it's unknown. Magic presents itself at all different times in all different kinds of people. Some say you must be born with it, others say it can be developed...It's just something that can't be explained yet." Walt took another step back, wondering if using anything he had on him would even so much as hurt this thing. He decided the next thing it came too close, he wouldn't merely step away.

Without even thinking, Nadine dropped her dagger to the ground, wincing at the loud clatter. It was only after she had dome so that she realised how potentially stupid that was - if this was just another replica standing so close to her, she had just dropped her only close combat weapon, whereas his blade still hung from his hand.
