The girl seemed to be more worn for the duration than he had thought. Nobody should remain too long inside the Truth: the caustic atmosphere would be enough to drive even Riley mad, should he stay in for too long. He was a little worried for what it could have done to her, but more curious as to how she managed to get inside there, seeing as he had not seen anybody else enter the small crossroads of doors.
"I wonder what tricks it has pulled now... there should only be two ways in, and both are under my watch..."

"Taliana... Faye," Tali whispered. The sound of her voice felt reassuring somehow. She looked up at Riley. Nothing happened; no screams of pain, no deaths...
"Taliana Faye," she repeated a little louder this time. Again, nothing. Tali tried to stand up again, wary over falling. She felt a little stronger and surprised herself by standing up this time. She looked towards the door, feeling her body weaken under its spell. She turned away, facing Riley.
"What... is this place?" Tali said softly, afraid to speak.

She was cut-off. A rectangular shape appeared on the ground, and the flowers shrivled. A door came into existence. It bore the word TRUTH in a crimson color. Then it started. Shrieks and other unpleasent images came from the door into Tomoe's mind.
Dammit... not now... I will not go down like last time...
She materialized a scythe, which had a similar design to the door, but much neater and well kept. She stabbed the door deep with the scythe. "Kudo" As she spoke, the door was... bleeding. It seeped dark crimson blood. The door evaporated and the flowers were restored.
Tomoe was alittle exhausted from the stress. "I wasn't expecting them to make a visit so soon..."

Elsewhere, a similar door in a small room spintered. The blood came pouring out of that door as well...

The door of Truth suddenly cracked, blood spurting out out of the small wound. A dark mist began to seep from it, but would only dissipate almost as soon as it left the door.
Riley gagged, almost throwing up, as a sharp pain shot through his head, right between the eyes. It felt like a migraine, but was sharp and sudden enough to cripple him temporarily, making him collapse.
"WH-wh...wh-what...," he tried to speak, then suddenly said. "...Taliana... make yourself at home. There is a teakettle on the table."
Riley passed out.

She listened intently as he tried to explain the room, when suddenly, the door she'd come out of cracked and bled. She gasped in fear. Riley was on the floor in absolute agony. Tali froze. Did... I cause this!? Were my words simply taking a longer time to take effect!? Taliana thought in horror.
She noticed he was holding his head, as if... As if his head had been sliced, like the door...
Somehow, this made Taliana feel more relieved; perhaps this wasn't all her fault. However, her relief was short-lived. Despite the pain, Riley didn't forget to mention about hospitality. Except he suddenly lay unconscious at her feet. Tali looked around, trying to find a place to put Riley where he would be safe. She thought she saw a couch—or something to that effect. With determination, Tali dragged the passed out Riley towards the couch, lifting each part of his body separately in hopes it would be easier for her to lift him. It was quite a struggle for someone of her small frame, but the couch was low, luckily.
Tali sat beside him, lightly putting her hands on his forehead. A sudden impulse occurred; almost like an idea, but one she seemed to already know about...
Tali imagined a cold sensation; something cool to the touch. She kept imagining this "feeling", but she could not feel it. She wasn't sure what the effects would be...
((FYI: Initiation of Tali's smaller powers; look under Caelestis (name's still wrong, unfortunately) for explanation of power. Substitute "sound" or "sight" for "touch/feeling" if that makes sense. So, he should be feeling as if something cold is touching his forehead.))

Taliana released her hand from Riley's forehead with some frustration. She somehow that trusting her instincts could help her, but nothing happened. Even in this dream world, she couldn't do what she wanted... feel what she wanted...
Uselessness. A large fear for Tali. The dread that accompanied after lifting her hand was too tremendous. She couldn't do anything to help him. Why couldn't she help anyone!?
With a large huff and a sigh, Tali stood up and traversed towards the table that apparently held the tea. She poured the nice tea kettle into a matching cup and sipped. It tasted more bitter than she liked it.
Feeling like she could do nothing else, Taliana sat by Riley again, trying to perceive his rather scrunched and pleasant face, trying to figure out the best way to help him.
If I even can...

Riley opened his eyes. And yet he did not. Something felt defiantly wrong, and this time he could remember enough to tell that it did.
He tried to turn his head, and yet he couldn't control himself, moving free away of his own choice.
He could feel things that didn't belong from what he saw, and heard things that didn't belong. It was... like he was dreaming.
"But I can't dream, can I? I'm dead--" He said.
"Hello, who's there?" He said.
This caught Riley off guard, as he spoke over himself, like there were two of him in the same room.
It suddenly came to him where he had seen this before. When he first arrived to this crossroads, he had appeared in the center of the room, with the one door open wide. He didn't know what was marked upon the rotted wood of the door, but he had went through it anyways, and then this is where he ended up.
"A memory...? Curious." He pondered to himself, deciding to 'sit back' and watch.
"H-hey, who are you?" He said to a figure standing in the dark of the closet. It was a deep closet, very unusual, and he had been rather frightened when he entered.
There was a figure, Riley remembered. It was the earliest thing he COULD remember, in fact. And if it was going to replay exactly like it happened...
"Who are you?" The figure said. It was a small boy, faced away from Riley. Or, facing away.
"Time is a very tricky thing to detail when it both happens and happened." Riley thought, still looking through his former eyes.
"Me? I... I don't know... I don't know!" Riley (had) said in response.
From there, it was rather dull for Riley, the one reliving the events, seeing as he simply fell down and began to shudder, the actual emotions of it lost to him now that he had gone through the initial shock already.
There was a lot of rather pathetic moments that Riley was glad couldn't be seen other by him, although it was rather embarrassing to relive. Finally, he had went to the child, and started to beg and demand to him, shaking him back and forth violently. After a bit, time seemed to speed up, or perhaps Riley became even less lucid than before, because it all faded to black before the child turned around to face him.
A demented, almost demonic face jumped out of the dark.
Riley awoke screaming.

-The Redundancy Phenomenon
Have you ever dreamed that you woke up, or dreamed you were dreaming? There are times when the repetition occurs in the mind, and yet the true cause is not entirely certain. Theoretically, one would assume that this has something to do with the subconscious's attempt to cycle information collected during the day, during the period of consciousness,except we do not dream while active, and therefore there is a hole in this logic. It is possible that some dreams may be created from inspiration. There are cases, however, of these events, more commonly known by another name...

Taliana flinched and fell over as she heard Riley scream. She had fallen onto the floor and for a moment wanted to immediately go up to him and comfort him. His character she'd seen so far from him, and her knowledge of people, suddenly flowed through her mind as she thought of the ways to try to calm him down. A slight touch of the hand to bring him to reality... Soothing, yet stern words to show she wasn't babying him, but also cared... Words such as, "You can survive this, Riley. Be strong, Riley"...
Instead of going through with her instincts, Tali curled up into a ball. When... when I touched his forehead... that must be... be why he's in so much...!
His scream of terror seemed to pierce her memories of the shrieking people. She felt like screaming, as well, but found her voice hoarse.
"...Riley...?"

"*whew*... ah, hello, Taliana, dear. I didn't startle you did I? I seemed to have been remembering a nasty memory from after I died while I was out." Riley was more shaken than he was letting on, but he tried his best not to let it show. "...what exactly happened? Last I remembered was meeting you and closing the doorway. Then it gets all fuzzy, as they say..."
The whole time, the image of the demonic face appeared on his mind. That was the second time he had seen it, the blank, hateful thing that existed solely for him behind the doorway. He had to discover WHY, had to, but--
"Hm? Odd, I didn't leave this couch here... did you make it?"

"I-I can be rather jumpy, I suppose..." Tali stammered. "I suppose this couch was made by me," Taliana continued, thinking for a moment. Did he say something about dying...?
"Riley, why are you talking about 'death'? What makes you believe you're dead?" Tali sat down on the couch again, staring at him a little more intently than she intended. "Isn't death supposed to be... peaceful? If that's the case," she kept her eyes steady, "you wouldn't be in pain... I wouldn't be in pain..." Tali looked away, not quite sure where her intensity came from. Wasn't she like that at one time? Before she found out the 'Truth', that was?
The fact that she somehow created the couch intrigued Tali. She tried very hard to imagine something like she imagined the couch. She tried thinking of something easy, like changing the color of the couch from a dull green to a bright blue. She kept staring at it, but for some reason, whatever thought process she was using, it wasn't working. Tali felt it... being sent somewhere, but her eyes weren't receiving it. Where on earth are these... being "sent"?

With this, Riley made his way all around the room, commenting on each one.
"Past 'Truth' is the door to 'Purgatory', a even greater crossroads between who knows where." He flipped the door open and revealed the dreamspace behind it, all the planets in the sky so near. He left this door open as he went.
"Past that" He continued, going counterclockwise to the next wall, stopping in front of an arch with a silk veil over the opening, "Is this fantastical door, marked 'Fantasy'. It is an unusual room, for it is more like a forest of sorts, the kind where trees grow their branches overhead, letting only a select few rays through to greet you... it is the exact opposite of the Truth, I can tell you that, because it is neither painful nor amorphous."
He went to the last wall, it's feature being covered by red velvet drapes. He pulled them back to reveal a large gateway, blocked off by flaming bars, burning with a bright blue, and casting an glow across the room.
"And this... is the greatest mystery of all."
He turned back to Tali, "These are the four doors that symbolize the great beyond, that let those set in between life and afterlife to spend their time, whatever the reasons may be, and confront or enjoy the details that life created for them." At this last part, he gestured to the doors 'Fantasy' and 'Truth'. He was slightly out of breath from his dash and great explanation-combo... and yet, for some reason, a small hint of doubt was digging in his head, echoing with the words Who are you?

Your pain... be free... do not believe those which you doubt... think... differently...
A sharp pain, like a strong headache, pierced her head, as the images of the people she saw in 'Truth' came back full force. Taliana gasped and fell over to the ground. She sat upon her knees after regaining a little strength and rubbed her fingers over her temples.
A horrible, scratchy voice filled her mind.

"Taliana! Are you alright?" He said. "Why does this seem familiar... I think know how I can help her."
"Taliana, you look like you could use a rest. Please," Riley held out his hand to help her up. "why don't we visit the paradise behind 'Fantasy'? It'll calm your nerves, I'm sure."
While he focused upon Taliana, Riley missed the intruder emerging from a rift, that opened just behind the entrance of the door marked 'Truth'. While the stranger wasn't exactly INSIDE the room, he had opened the door...

Tali gulped, reiterating her words. "That the supposed 'talents' I had actually exist." Tali didn't explain further; the exact nature of her long-lost 'talent' was difficult to explain to someone who probably never felt what it was like to dive in others' minds...

"Well, I won't pry. Still," Riley said, holding up his index finger pointing upwards; a stereotypical teaching-motion. "even if it is a 'lie', it is sometimes good to get away from 'it all' and relax once in a while. Did me wonders, and I've never felt more peaceful, as far as I can remember."
He closed his eyes and stretched his arms over his head, making his coat rise up a bit with his arms.
A golden pocket watch, old-style, with a flip-top cover over the timepiece and a chain, fell out of an inside pocket in his jacket, and hit the ground.
"Hm?" He opened one eye.

Riley's talks about 'getting away from it all' and 'relaxing' had a sort of forbidden temptation within it. She averted his eyes from his gaze as he spoke about how much more 'peaceful' he felt.
An interesting word choice. Normally, one would say that they felt "better" or "happier" after relaxing in such a way. However, he chose to use 'peaceful'... But is this feeling of 'peace' simply a band-aid to cover up more problems...?
Before she could ponder further, she heard a sudden 'clang'. She glanced at the pocket watch that inevitably fell from Riley's pocket. Curious, she reached out to touch it.

"You... would really rather not mess with this unnecessarily." He bent over and grabbed it by the chain, smoothly fastening it back onto his coat and then returning it back into it's original pocket. "Let us just say that you aren't the only one to pay a visit inside the 'storage-closet of despair', over their." He gestured over his at 'Truth' with his thumb. "There just wasn't a door prize this time around."
"Anyways, you really should take a short rest. What with you watching over me rest before, I can imagine you must be envious of my 'luck'." He chuckled a bit at his own dark humor.

It completely fits his character too, considering when I'm reading your posts, I imagine him with a British accent, lol))Taliana pulled her hand back hastily in surprise, her curiosity increasing as she found that she was not allowed to see it. She glanced at the door 'Truth'. A prize? Oh wonderful she thought with derision.
His 'humor' about his rest didn't exactly amuse her. Tali furrowed her eyebrows in thought. "Honestly, I was worried. You collapsed in front of my eyes, and I thought that perhaps you would be thinking about whatever has been bothering you this whole time; and that the pain of your imagination would become difficult for you—" Taliana slapped her hand upon her mouth, her eyes growing wide. Was she... psycho-analyzing—
NO!
She quickly retreated her hand and began to desperately say, "D-don't listen to me! I'm sorry, I had no right; I have no idea what I'm talking about. I-I'm blabbering my mouth about nothing and..." Taliana closed her eyes and put her head upon her open palm. She sighed; she couldn't let it go, could she? Perhaps living in a fantasy world where she could freely believe that she could almost read other people's minds was true. But could she stand to be there, knowing that reality would soon catch up to her? Or even worse, would she be disillusioned, once again, about her 'talents' for the rest of her life...?
"...Fine. Take me to Fantasy," she murmured.

"Hm, bothering me...?"
"Well, right this way," Riley said, walking ahead through the silky veil. When he stepped through, he emerged in front of a long path in the middle of a serene forest. There were trees neatly all around, overshadowing the path and yet letting sunbeams through the canopy, all shifting in a peaceful breeze.
"Truly a fantasy... I can remember no such things really existed." He muttered to himself. Then, calling back through the arch, "Well, Taliana, hurry on through."

Sam quickly barged into the room full of doors. He lloked around the still air made him shudder. This place made him feal uneasy. His hand trembled, he wasn't used to this fealing. He suddenly clenched his fists and reared away from the door marked Truth; the one he had come through. His lip wobbled as he looked around. He didn't rememeber ever hacking the machine to create room like this. he ahd craeted about 17 blanks lates but this one was nothing of the sort. He cought sight of a veil. It was billowing as if someoen ahd just walked through it. I sign above it read Fanatsy. With a jolt, Sam realized what was happening and it scared him. For the first time in his life, he was scared. They were going to get him, YES! They were going to get him soon and they were going to get him quick. He pounced at the veil and proceeded to crawl on all fours. He must have them before he had them.

The portal that had blocked off the interior disapparated, leaving 'Truth' wide open. That was the third door to be left wide open, as it turned out, the veiled 'Fantasy' counted as it really didn't have a door, and the path linking the crossroads to the rest of the dream worlds.
A black billow of smoke began to pour out of the 'Truth', concentrating, but not solidifying, to form a shape resembling a man. A big eye emerged from the 'chest' of the smoke; a yellow eye, completely bloodshot, giving it a bloody yellow color, and with a vertical slit for a pupil, to resemble that of a reptile or cat.
Like a primal beast, it looked around, hunting for prey, before noticing the main door leading out of Riley's crossroad-dreamscape was wide open. The thing shuffled out the doorway, leaving claw-marks and scratches on the floor where it's smokey legs touched the ground.
At this point, the closet marked 'Truth' was no longer exuding smoke, but there still seemed to be a presence remaining withing, as the doorway closed by itself.

Taliana took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and took her first step out into the unknown plain.
Or perhaps it was known; after all, it was 'Fantasy', everything she imagined would be true here. The real problem was which truth Tali should live by...
'Fantasy' reminded her of the dream plane she lived on, before being beamed into 'Truth'. It was very quiet here; the only sounds came from natural sources, such as wind and billowing plantlife. Tali kept walking forward, unsure of where exactly she was going. Even Riley seemed to fall away behind her.
Every once in awhile, a sudden ghost of a person would appear with a look Taliana could only describe as 'gratitude'. Then, as suddenly as they appeared, they would disappear, and silence would ensue.
Her eyesight was much crisper here. And she felt more awake than usual. Some people want to slumber forever, but Tali longed to stay awake. Her eyes would feed hungrily over everything she saw. She never had to speak, and neither did any of the ghosts she see.
It's all so beautiful, so precious... It was less like a thought, and more like a tender melody or sonata that whispered in to her ears. But—
so FAKE
A sudden sharp bang on the melody she was unconsciously listening to brought her to her knees with a gasp. But as suddenly as it came, the melody she heard was continuing on and on, as if there wasn't a sudden influx in its playing. Tali stood back up again and kept walking.

The black wisp entered the dream realm and saw the multitudes of other planets, of other beings and people.
With a sound like a snarl and a sigh, the large eye upon it's chest retracted into the smoke, large "eye lids" covering it from the sides, a mimicry of a real eye, only closing horizontally rather than vertically.
The eye gone within the depths of the smoke, it lost it's shape and billowed forth towards the nearest dream-world, intent upon the hunt...

In front of Taliana, a small figure came running past out of the trees, only to shove her, and then bolt down the path ahead.
"Well, c'mon, Miss, chase me! You're it!" He called back, the young, carefree voice of the child filled with innocent laughter.

A little child, smiling so innocently, laughed and called out to her that explained that she was in a game of tag. Huh, I never knew my supposed "repressed" childhood had lacked having such 'funtime' that my mind had longed for such silly games, she thought, thinking freely about psychology.
Tali smiled. "I'll get you!" she called out playfully, as she stood up and began to run after the child.

"Don't stop, keep trying!" He called back, as he ran down the other path.
There was less tree cover than the other, but just as serene. The further down the path, the trees became less and less sparse, until the path was lined with the occasional dead sapling. At the end, there was one giant tree, it's roots spreading far, but almost lifeless, with only a handful of leaves remaining on a branch here and there. There was a sort of melancholy to the area, and yet it was not depressing nor frightening...
The child kept running up to the tree, then around the side of it, out of sight.

Tali gasped at the sight of the rather large tree. She looked at the roots rather wearily and glanced at the child. He'd run behind the tree and seemed to disappear. Taliana found herself more curious about this area and less playful and wanting to tag the child. She jumped over the knotty roots and went behind the almost lifeless tree. She wasn't necessarily afraid; she was simply curious about what lay ahead.

"Oh, you found me... heheh, that was fun." Said the youth. He looked rather young, older than 9, but certainly not in his teens. He had a set of brown shorts and a matching t-shirt, and a large old-fashioned cap covering his hair and the brim covering his eyes. "So, what do you think of this place?"

Riley was genuinely worried, Taliana had gone off and outright disappeared, which shouldn't have been possible in this place. He was getting antsy as he walked the path, calling out her name to no avail.

She looked at the boy thoughtfully as he surprisingly asked her a question.
"Hm? Oh, well, it's very relaxing," she said aloud, sighing. "It's rather strange; just earlier, I felt this way before, except somehow I was missing some sort of strange comfort. Then, I was..." Taliana thought for a moment. The mental pain that 'Truth' used to bring no longer plagued her mind; it was like a fleeting, bad memory. "in pain. But I feel... peaceful," she answered, using the word Riley had said to her. Speaking of Riley, where is he...? Tali glanced behind her, not seeing anything. Strange. She turned to the boy.
"So, what exactly are you doing here? Enjoying your dreams?"

Is this some sort of strange reality...? But I can't think of HIS name!
She was admiring the tree, before, as the boy spoke of it, her face slowly contorting to a frown as she thought of it once being alive, but now so... lifeless. To Tali, it was strange that 'Fantasy' seemed to not give life to this tree. The boy's words were quite strange, he didn't seem to either completely understand, or willing to admit, why he was here.
But, there was also the issue with his seeming mind-reading capabilities.
"I'm sorry, you seem to already know my name. But I have yet to learn yours," Taliana replied, trying her best to keep the icy suspicion out of her voice. How does he know who I am...?

"Riley? I don't remember mentioning a Riley..." she finally said, choosing her words. She didn't want to reveal too much. "And I certainly don't remember anyone calling my name... except for you." However, as she thought about what he said, she wondered if, indeed, Riley had called out to her. She took a furtive glance behind her unconciously, hoping she wasn't worrying him too much. However, this was too curious to pass up...

He simple flopped back down in a laying position. He pulled the cap over his eyes again and pretended to go to sleep.

Subconscious... superego? she thought. So, that one moment... back there. Tali wondered if her mind that became suddenly fond of doubting herself (in which she could look objectively at, thanks to 'Fantasy') was, at that moment before she met the boy, somehow ricocheting her between 'Truth' and 'Fantasy'. Or, now so aptly named, 'Subconscious superego'. Taliana closed her eyes, bringing this new information to light. The sort of 'shockwaves' she felt before were coming back again, except she seemed ready for them this time. Her little knowledge, which right now was mostly on instinct, of the human mind was telling her that she was traversing back and forth between two human faults: pride and doubt. The constant wavering of each was making her feel ill, a lurch in her stomach wanting to pass through her mouth. However, instead she plumped onto the ground, giving up to the emotion that was easier to sustain in this world: pride.

As the wave of nausea passed, Taliana wearily sat up and crawled toward the apparently sleeping boy. He didn't seem to rouse.
Tali wasn't sure whether it was instinct or not, but she tried something again.
Wonderful, wonderful. Why don't you try what you thought you could do before...? Tali wasn't sure where the strange line of thinking came from. Instead, she imagined a loud crack, something that would surely rouse the boy. Still, she heard nothing...
((I'm not sure if I'm playing in your 'world' correctly; I kind of did what I imagined it would be, but I'm not sure if it's correct

Tali retreated her way of thinking. I'm an idi—No, you're not... Taliana's mind was being almost 'brainwashed' by this place. She closed her eyes. Did she know what he just explained? Somehow, some long distant memory of...
Her mind couldn't remember anything; she could barely remember why she was in this dream world. Riley thinks I'm dead. I don't believe him, she thought. Tali turned to the boy; he seemed to have answers.
"Please, I need to know more," she tried to beg. "How do you know who I am?"

Another leaf off the tree fell, withering into dust before hitting the ground. The child flinched slightly, but still did not move.
"...don't think about it too hard, or you'll lose yourself in the details..." He muttered.
