Jay did not in fact jump into the air at the sound of Iris's greeting. Instead, he simply turned around and said, "Oh! H-hello there, Iris! How are you enjoying the party? Your hubby's doin' pretty good up there, isn't he?" Jay laughed, and turned back around to continue watching the two 'bust a move' on the dance pads.

The song came to an anticlimactic close, Graph rubbing her shins and trying to shake the sting of Iris' surprisingly sharp-toed sandals. The arrival of new guests had drawn attention away from the dance floor, so Xero and his girlfriend were the only ones watching the screen intently.

Graph sighed and bowed her head. "You... You have won." She sulked away from the pad and served herself some punch. Though she abhorred arrogance, she gave credit when credit was due.

Graph spun around. "Wh... What?"
The crowd had reformed around the pads, new members collecting at the edges. They chanted in unison, making it clear what they wanted:
"RE-MATCH! RE-MATCH!!"
"Well," snickered Graph, the von Karmaic style of intimidation dripping from her voice, "I suppose I must give the audience what they came here for. AAA it is." She strode onto the pad and again tested the buttons. "Ready, Xero?"

How ironic... They named this song the grade impossible to get on it. Graph's smirk faded as the first few beats of the song rang in her ears. This was the one she had so foolishly attempted one day during her training, the very same track that left her in a heap on the floor.
And that was Standard Mode.
A single bead of sweat trickled down her temples and rested next to her eye. She was screwed. As the chaotic, sythesized sounds of the deadly AAA filled the room and the arrows dashed up the screen, she tossed a glance to Xero. No longer were they fighting each other. They were fighting to survive.

Xero knew this song by heart; but even he could not keep up for long. Combos were being broken by the second, he was doing his best to conserve his energy, but he knew that eventually one of them would have to give in.

Xero and Graph battled it out on AAA, each getting more exasperated by the second; the extremely fast stream ripping at their stamina. It wasn't long before they both began missing step after step after step, sweating. Xero kept on, refusing to lose, and Graph finally fell over in defeat. About five seconds later, Xero followed suit, falling over in the other direction, clutching his chest. "Ugh... that... was... hard..." He was breathing very heavily.
Both had failed the song, but Xero had lasted longer. He had won the match.

Graph panted and adjusted her contact lens. She had lost. Still, it was to be expected, as AAA was next to impossible to clear, and she was fairly sure that she could defeat anyone ELSE at the party. She took a large swig of punch and bid her goodbyes.
