I also agree with Lilith for explaining what the green lines mean. I know what it means, because I've read this topic before and it means who is engaged, but what if someone new to the forums came and saw the tree without looking at this topic? Just a thought, not to sound rude or anything :(
BTW, the tree looks great so far Don! Keep up the great work!

Posts are taking a while for me right now, if you notice I'm doing allot of posting while talking to one person then editing to talk to the others. (I always try to put "Edit:" in for anything I add.)

I apologize for not noticing that you changed it with all the times I went past it.
On a side note, I'm thinking of posting the tree like this in the first post.
It will save on screen stretching. All you have to do is click it to see the full version. (I would suggest opening it in a new tab/window.)

All you can do is: merge the families together just like in real life. You don't get separated from your own parents when you get married in real life.
If you don't reconsider about this matter, all I can say is that the system has some chauvinism factor in it~

Ryu, the thing is that this isn't real life. And in real life you wouldn't have families getting this messed up from adoption/marriage.
Take a look at the last tree update.
It was a nightmare putting that together with just that few people in it. Look at the old tree.
Look at how messed up it is.
This was the only thing I could think to do. And I did bring it up quite a while ago. A few times even. And this is what was agreed on. You should have said something during the week or so that the idea has been on here.
It's nothing against the girls. It's only for tree organization. If you all are going to have this much of a problem with how I'm doing it maybe I should just let you do it yourself. (I'm not going to do that though. I'm not giving up on making this work.)
And just so you know this post has taken me about an hour to type.

Let's not give Don a hard time about it. I really don't think this is chauvinistic at all, and I'm a bit of a feminist on my part, so that's saying something. Making the girl leave their tree to join her husband's isn't that big of a deal-- if anything, we can put an asterisk or something by that family to denote it. I think what Don is trying to accomplish is more toward making updating the tree more convenient and also more organized. It would only be chauvinistic if Don was making the girls leave just because they were girls.
I was going to suggest an updating style that went generation by generation... but I'm not quite sure how that'd work, because spontaneous additions are coming in day by day.
Angelux, while that program you suggested does sound handy, Don seems pretty taken with that tree image, so I can see why he'd stick with it. :)

And I was thinking about trying to make a way to show what families the girls who moved came from.
I may give everyone one more day to get the info to me. I know I'm still missing people and today is (was) Easter so people are probably spending time with their real families.
But I'm going to start a weekly update with Friday as the deadline to get info to me if I request it and Saturday as update day. I hope to keep up with the events of the tree enough to not have to do this again though. *mumbles something about Gerk and people doing what they say they will do*
I may take a look at that program though, it's at least worth a look.

In GIMP....
1. You use the brush tool or pencil tool and click on the artwork once (the starting point of the line).
2. Immediately after clicking... press the Shift button and make sure you've stopped the single click.
3. Bring the cursor (mouse) to the end point and click. There, you get a perfect line.
