Snake got a cold feeling running through him, and he would not accept that. He chased after Ryoji, and asked "What do you mean by that?!" even though he already knew what that meant. Goddammit.

Ryoji kept walking, although he slowed his pace down enough to let Snake catch up. Soon enough, he had Snake walking beside him, but Ryoji didn't stop.

"It really would do you good not to follow me. You see, tonight is special...like I said, I have a meeting of fate tonight with a very unique lady. She has been asleep for a very long time now, and even now, she won't awaken fully, but it is our duty to help mankind... in fact, I was created just for the sake of giving humanity it's final desire."

The time was several minutes before midnight.

"There are... complications making it a little difficult to explain, but to simplify it for you, there are reasons I have to visit this city, not the least of which being the current events already transpiring all over this area, all localized around this unfortunate city."

Ryoji's cheerful attitude left, leaving a somber man still walking the path. It was 3 minutes till midnight.

"That is a lie. The city will be destroyed by the end of the night regardless of my actions. Have you not noticed the sky lately?"

2-to-midnight. They were at least a mile from the city limits.

"The fate of these people has been set by the same disturbances that let me wake. There is nothing that can stop what will occur, save me, and even then, it is only a penultimate salvation, and that only leaves ultimate salvation to their actions, past and present."

1-to-midnight. The full moon was in blazing shine, and a shadow of a great descending shape seen in front of it.

"You said it yourself, Snake. There are those that you must kill for the sake of saving the innocent. This way, I shall save both the damned, and those not related to this at the present."

Ryoji turned in front of Snake and stopped.
"I can sense it from you, that you will be awake during the Dark Hour. For your past kindness, I can only warn you to stay away from the city, but that is where my thanks ends. I will do what I must. Let us not meet again, for your sake."

The world stopped. It was midnight.
Ryoji had suddenly vanished, right at the stroke of midnight, at the same moment that all lights and electronic machines stopped working.

In the sky, the great object ceased it's falling, hanging there in the air.
All over the world, there were people who stayed "awake", and those who didn't, those people turning into upright black coffins, tight with the the ignorance of the Dark Hour.

However, all the people in and nearby the city and surrounding lands, regardless of potential or not, remained "awake".

A large shape appeared above the city, akin to a crow, four large wings spreading out, a great blade in hand.
"Now is the time for your salvation," It spoke, it's voice warped with monotonous dual tones.

((For the record, I've set it up so that none of the other characters SHOULD be "asleep" during this Dark Hour.))

The SA-X was now running at the highest speed it could possibly go. It reached the city in a flash of blinding light but it could not stop in time and started to run through many buildings till it finally stopped. The buildings it ran through all started to fall down.

Giga Bowser saw the dark crow thing in the sky. It was holding a blade. There was no point in fighting Dante now. He may want to kidnap a princess, but he didn't want the world to be destroyed. Now, he just needed a way to fly.

Snake ran into the city, just in time to see a crow-like thing with four wings and a blade ready. It was going to destroy the city. Snake shot at it with his sniper rifle. Then, he fired missiles. He hoped at least one of those would delay it.

Sephiroth saw this thing in the sky. He heard it say, "Now is the time for your salvation." Hell with that! Sephiroth wouldn't die! Not then. He flew up with his black wings, barely avoiding some missles, and took out his own sword. "You want to play? Let's play." He swung his sword at the creature.

Ike was still unconcious somewhere...

A bullet at high speeds, multiple lacerations and finally multiple concussive blasts. The being that was once Ryoji fell from the sky in a cloud of smoke, into the street, creating a large crater. Upon the impact, all the random bystanders suddenly began to writhe, and, covered by the cloud of dust, scream until they each were cut short. The dust cleared enough to reveal a mess of black ooze, clothes strewn about, and the shape of the fallen entity.
((Gory, I know, but I'm going by-the-book from the Persona 3 game.))

Slowly it rose, standing upon the ground with spindly legs. It once again rose into the air and it's wings spread outward to reveal it's full shape.
"This... is like that one time, when they faced me for mankind's sake." It thought.

It's face was like a persona-mask, completely pallid and with only black holes where the eyes should be. The face was almost like Ryoji's, but warped, and twisted in a disturbing smile.

"You cannot escape the fate that has been set out before you."It said, voice booming to all that could hear. "I am here only to save you from that fate. Should you hinder me further, I will not regret my actions. Please, come, people of this town, and accept your salvation, before it is too late."

It flapped it's great wings, and the clouds above the city parted, a large hole in the sky, through which the moon shined through.

Albert's twin rings fired upon Bass, and behind him the Ouroboros. Right as he launched the beams, the Ouroboros stopped it's fall and rejuvination in midair, much to Albert's shock. The lasers still made their way to their target.

The SA-X was drawn to this being of intense power. It could feel itself mutating into something more powerful from just being close to it...It's genetic makeup was absorbing as much of the dark energy it could take in...Yet no changes could be seen...Then the SA-X Split...Into two.

"We...Can.."

"Split again?"

"This being is powerful enough for us to split again..."

"And more rapidly...It seems our IQ has also gone up..We should watch."

The SA-X did not fear this being, It was born with only one fear, The metroids, and they were all dead and the Hunter was not even in the same universe.

Dante looked to the giant, ominous creature in the sky. There's my real target, he decided. This pitiful thing is a waste of my time. He looked in scorn at Bowser. "Awright, Turdle, there's no point fighting with that thing over there. It's my job to take shit like that out of commission, so let's just stop this and fight it," he truced. Dante jumped onto the giant turtle's back and pointed to the distance. "Onward!"

Wesker, Yoshi, Crash, and Sonic all looked to the distance and saw the giant thing.

Sonic smirked. "Let's kick it!" He shouted and ran quickly towards the towering beast.

Yoshi gaped in surprise. "This is one cool tea party! Everyone popular's been invited! He must be a movie star or something... Maybe I can get an autograph!" He said in awe, starting the journey towards it.

Crash pointed from the car. "WOW! Check it out! That is WAY cooler than a poodle! Let's go and check it out!" He yelled at J.

Wesker looked up and saw the hulking creature. "Hmph. That's interesting. Perhaps an experiment? Not Umbrella," he reasoned and cocked his pistol. "Whatever it is, though, it's obviously a threat that needs to be destroyed."

"Yeesh, I'd think that the Commander would have called about this by now." He said, fiddling with the comm. unit. All he got was static. "Well, these townspeople need our help. Hold on tight!"
J hit the pedal all the way down, and the car speed forward, right to the center of the city.

The thing that was once Ryoji saw all those opposing his work approaching him.
"I see you all. If you wish to confront me, it is your own choice. Realize that what you are doing will condemn this city to a fate worse than death. Can you not see the truth of this world?" It spoke, yet again covering the city with it's voice.
Even though the voice was full of sorrow, it's mouth stretched out, to grin further...

"...I am the appraiser... the Avatar and voice for Nyx... The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed their fate... entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope.... yes, the Arcana is the means by which ALL is revealed."

A fate worse than death...Not if this guy dies! Sephiroth thought, as he flew at Nyx Avatar and drew his sword. He was ready to fight.

"I can't fly," Bowser said. Then, he laughed. "But this guy is going down." He started walking towards Nyx Avatar.

Shit, Snake thought. I just hit him with missiles and he didn't even react! What the hell?

Nyx Avatar saw Sephiroth come flying at him. He stopped in midair and opened his arms wide, like waiting for an embrace.
He did nothing but smile mockingly, chuckling a bit.

Sephirpth knocked the spell right back at Nyx Avatar, adding on more fire and a burst of speed. Then, as soon as it got closer to Nyx Avatar, he cast his own spell, making it explode!

The fire dispelled all at once, and a great fluffy of ice spewed towards Sephiroth, freezing everything: building, car, people, everything along it's path.

Sephiroth was getting ticked off now. He flew towards Nyx Avatar, his sword swung rapidly, fire emanating from it. He wasn't going to freeze like the others, his fire sword cut the fluffy of ice several times as fireballs went flying towards Nyx Avatar.

A power shifted in Nyx Avatar again. This one was even greater than the last.

Nyx Avatar began to flap it's mighty wings, creating gales that blew all the frozen debris away, some heading towards Sephiroth.

Sephiroth just flew around the debris and started shooting dark magic balls at Nyx Avatar. These questions the thing asked were ones Sephiroth didn't care to answer. The magic hit Nyx Avatar, but instead of impacting or exploding upon him, they simply slid around or through him, like water over a grate, and continued past, to crash into buildings.
"Only courage in the face of doubt can lead one to the answer..." Nyx Avatar spoke.

The Emperor. The force behind Nyx Avatar's shifts in power was becoming visible, leaving an aura behind.

Nyx Avatar landed upon the ice-covered ground, and muttered some more enchants. He struck the ground with the sword, and a great charge of electricity was dispersed along the icy streets.

Bass took the beams in stride. The cloak he was wearing was burnt, and he slowly fell into the sea. "I'll be back... soon..." He smirked as he hit the water. The impact created a small tidal wave.

The agents finally responded to their communicators. It was the Commander.

"Agents, your target is the town. All agents available must head to the destination..."

Starr gave a quick smile to Cheiftain. "Well, that figures... ready?"

The tall man looked at the large ravenous thing in the sky. "When am I not?"

The radio blasted forward and the two agents got into position.

"Are you ready... 3, 2, 1, GO!"

The town began to radiate musical energy as they began to dance.

Dark magic is no good, Sephiroth thought. He heard music, but didn't think anything of it as he swooped down and slashed that thing's neck.

Bowser jumped up, avoiding the electricity. Then, at the same time Sephiroth slashed Nyx Avatar's head, he spin-attacked Nyx Avatar.

"Damn," Albert muttered. While the beams had hit Bass head on, it had damaged the Ouroboros, destroying a full section clear out. For some odd reason, it was just hanging there and wasn't repairing, which boded badly if it were to start falling again. He wouldn't be able to hide it at this rate, so he may as well go with the other plan.
"If I cannot make it past the city, then I will make the city Model W's feast!" Albert had slightly lost it.
The exposure to the Dark Hour combined with his megamerged form was creating an odd effect upon his psyche. There was a slight resonation with his Biometals as well, like a heartbeat, that urged him onward.
He traveled to an edge of the Ouroboros and summoned his stregth, forcing it onward, slowly through the sky, by sheer force of will.

Agent J got the call at the same time as the other Agents, and heard them start without him.
"Hold on," He said to his fuzzy passenger, pulling a tight turn, and approached the battlezone at high speeds.

"Have no fear, Agent J is here!" He said, and leapt out of the car epicly. "Get ready folks, 3,2,1, GO!"
Music started to play, and he started to grove, at the same time, ushering any passerby to safety.

Nyx Avatar was knocked back, into a building. The force of his aura lessened, the atmosphere lessening in intensity.
The impact of his crash utterly destroyed the building, which fell down upon him, crushing him.

Any who could feel his presence could tell it was lessening... yet the Dark Hour still drew on, lasting longer than what the name hinted upon.

There was a flicker of energy.

The blue energy that grew stronger was resonating around the agents. It only grew stronger as the ever fashionably late Agent J joined the fray. As the chorus of the song played, Starr cartwheeled to her peer agent.

"Hey J, where've you been?" She continued the routine, leaving the main role to Chieftain for a moment.

As the earth was quiet with little noise except the battle, the Rhombulans drew closer and closer. They were a mere 1 hr, 57 min, 23 sec until they reached the earth's surface. The eye looked closer and the darkened earth.

"They are not so clever apparently. Seems like we have very little work to do."

"Oh, hello Miss Starr! Rockin' as ever, I see." said J as suavely as he could. The last of the civilians had been brought outta the area, and through a stroke of sheer luck, he had managed to get the frozen people to break free and get away.

He stopped his last pose, and spun the microphone in his hand.
"All wrapped up here... ah, I've been traveling around, helping where I can. Of course, I was already on my way here when I saw the fireworks, and then this happened."

Grit dropped his phone. It seemed reinforcements were coming in in the form of a large platoon of Neo tanks and Grits personal Rocket Brigade were coming in. Grit picked up his phone and quickly agreed to command the army as the other CO's were no where nearby.

"Lets see how this things likes Neo Tanks and Rockets. Once they get here.."

Nyx Avatar parried with his own massive sword. It swung quickly for such a large blade, and pieced the buildings nearby like butter while it traveled. The impact of the two blades created quite a force, and even though Sephiroth's long sword was minuscule in comparison, it easily took the impact of Nyx's and held strong.

With his free hand, Nyx Avatar pointed at one of the remaining civilians who was still struggling to get away. A thin pink beam shot from Nyx Avatar's finger to the back of the poor man's head, and he was knocked down momentarily.

Regaining his footing, the poor bystander looked around, and turned towards the battle between the long, sliver-haired man with the stern look and man-beast colossus that was Nyx Avatar. He blindly rushed Sephiroth yelling a battle cry, wielding his briefcase like a weapon.

Sephiroth just smacked the man with his wing and he fell over. Then, he realized that he would have to catch Nyx Avatar off-guard. His sword glowed. Then, Sephiroth went into a frenzy, swinging his sword so quickly that, when Bowser watched, the sword would seem to disappear.

Nyx held his sword pointing downward in front of him, but it was too slow. Taking one blow after the other, Nyx Avatar was getting knocked back.

"...O... o-one of life's greatest blessi- Guh!" Sephiroth's merciless attacks were taking a toll on Nyx Avatar. "-ings is the f-freedom... TO PURSUE ONE'S GOALS!"
With the shout of the final words, Sephiroth's sword swings were reflected off of Nyx Avatar's body like smacking metal on metal, each following strike resulting in a futile clang against his skin.

"The time has come. Nyx Avatar said, not wasting a second by following up with a blast of superheated-air towards Sephiroth.

((I'll give you a hint: He keeps swapping his strengths, resistances and weaknesses.))

A metal body...Or so it seems, Sephiroth thought as he used a magic shield to save himself from the hot air. He pointed his sword at Nyx Avatar, and shot lightning at him.

The magic attack struck and knocked Nyx Avatar back again. He steadied himself and began the usual chant of a prophetic metaphor:

"To find the one true path, one must seek guidance amidst uncertainty." Nyx Avatar continued.
Justice.

"Feel the sting of holy light." Nyx Avatar spoke dramatically, waving his hand in front of him. A triangle appeared upon the ground beneath Sephiroth, a pillar of light rising from each of the points. A bright flash emanated from the seal upon the ground, and a blast of magic light blazed forth, searing everything nearby and engulfing Sephiroth, hiding him from sight behind the glare

Sephiroth screamed in pain, but then Bowser landed hard, back first, onto Nyx Avatar. He spent all that time jumping on buildings intil he could get high enough to pull that off.

The blow knocked Nyx Avatar to the ground as Bowser used him as a landing cushion.
"...get off of me." He spoke calmly, although in his mind, the human side of him was swearing profusely. "It requires courage to look at oneself honestly and forge one's own path."

He spoke these words looking towards Sephiroth, smiling wide. Trapped beneath Bowser, he waved his hand in a circle, and the ground beneath Sephiroth glowed in a black light. This light was different than the last one, because it was an enchant, a spell to cast a foe into a state of unconsciousness.

"...rest. I must finish this before we conclude.
The spell flashed bright as Nyx Avatar struggled to get Bowser off his back.

Sephiroth saw the light under him and knew it would be some sort of attack. He flew so fast he seemed to disappear for a moment. The light flashed behind him.

Bowser smiled as he spun, since the spikes on his shell were already in direct contact with Nyx Avatar. This would tear the flesh off of any man.

"Your resistances are becoming most annoying." Nyx Avatar said, as feathers from his wings were strewn about and his flesh and armor were scrapped. "I cannot understand why you would resist my efforts, wasting time instead of trying to flee, before it is too late."

"Alongside time exists fate, the bearer of cruelty. I can imagine that... this choice... was your fate..."
Fortune.

In a surge much greater than the previous nine, Nyx Avatar threw Bowser off of it's back and got back into the air. "It is time I show you a new tactic. You cannot overcome all of existence, nor can you overcome the cards that fate has dealt you."

Nyx Avatar, holding his sword in both hands, fell from the air, plunging it down into the ground. The impact of the sword drove it deep, and released several magics: The ground froze over and the ice became electrified; the impact swung up a great wind that began to throw debris in every direction, randomly, and even cut some items with the strength of the gales; flames and explosions began to erupt from buildings nearby, sending gouts of fire into the battle field, to be swept up and sent traveling all over it by the winds.

Nyx Avatar had unleashed chaos.

((Well, Bowser's screwed!)) Bowser went flying through the air just to get hit by debris. Then, he landed on the ground only to be zapped so hard he wet flying. Sephiroth cut right through any debris that came near him and flew to Nyx Avatar, swinging his sword at him.
