He probably doesn't even know I'm missing..." Eve looked as if she were about to cry, but then she blinked and it went away. "Life there was just so boring. Parties, debuts, social events, I mean, yeah they're fun, but they get old after awhile. Nothing exciting ever happened. And then the pirate life just seemed so spontaneous, so exciting, so fun... I just needed to get away from life."

"Depends, Guybrush." Dawn pointed a dead squid at him. "I'll get the cannons ready in case we run into trouble. And we can always snipe the captain of the Navy ships. Eve, you can go up into the crow's nest if you want." She went down to the kitchen. The boat started moving.

[[(First time in my life I'm ever going to RP, but I figure I've got to start somewhere.)
Name: Jack Landon (His invented "pirate name" is Jack Rackham)
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Archetype: Pirate
Personality: Meek. Isn't one to stand up for himself, though he does have occasional flashes of confidence. Those tend to fade quickly.
Appearance: Short, around 5'3", with medium length brown hair and hazel eyes. Dressed in a shabby looking jacket and pants that look like they've seen much better days.
Other: Jack ran away from his home to spite his parents and seek his own fortune out on the open sea. His foray into pirating hasn't gone so well, however, as he has absolutely no idea how exactly to do almost anything useful on a ship. All of his former captains realized this too late, however, and he's had many unpleasant trips off the plank.]]

Off a little ways from the boat, a small figure bobbed up and down on the tide. If one looked a little closer, they would see a boy of around 15 clinging to a large piece of driftwood. Needless to say, thing's weren't going to well for Jack Rackham. His previous captain had thrown him off the boat once he'd confessed that he knew nothing about being a pirate, and he'd been trying to get back to shore for days. He was pretty hungry, and pretty sure that the fact that he'd lost feeling in his legs a few hours ago wasn't a good sign. Then, suddenly, he spotted a ship, not too far away.

"This is my chance," he thought to himself. "I can't be so colossal of a failure that I can't do anything right, can I? I'll get it right this time, and then I'll be one of the most feared pirates in the world!"

Bolstered by his monologue, Jack paddled towards the oncoming ship, praying that someone would take him on board. Otherwise, there'd be another long day of drifting ahead.

Guybrush smiled and hopped out of the hold and onto the deck. He jumped onto the mesh rope leading to the crow's nest. He hung on, looking out at the ocean. "Now we start our adventure for Le Dejeneur des Rois! But first, let's have some dinner!"

As he looked out at the sea, he saw a small piece of wood, with a small boy on it. "Hey, uh, guys, there's a drifting guy down there. Reminds me of the time I was stuck at sea for 3 days in a bumper car, ending up proposing to my wife with a cursed ring that turned her into gold. Well, we should bring him aboard, then."

A tall man in a blue jacket appeared on the crow's nest as Jack waved his arms, desperately trying to attract his attention. The man shouted something down towards the ship, and Jack's heart leapt. He was saved... although he was still a little concerned about the numb feeling in his legs. The saving bit had better happen soon, although he'd been in more dangerous situations and come out relatively unscathed. He just hoped that he wouldn't blow the job again. Walking the plank was becoming a regular occurrence for him, and if he wanted to last any longer in the pirate business, he'd have to try and put an end to it.

Guybrush looked around, seeing that noone had heard him. "Alright, Guybrush," he muttered to himself, "time to get to work."

He quickly emptied his satchel for anything he could use to pull the man out of the water. "Ok, I've got that stick I picked up, a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle, gunpowder... I'll need something to drop the stick low enough for him to grab." After a moment's thought, he ran down to the hull and picked up a loading ram from on of the cannons and picked up some rope from the deck.

He tied the rope around the ram, and tied that to the stick, held it off the side, and waved at the man. "Grab on!"

The ship drew closer to Jack, and his spirits rose. He was going to be saved! He bobbed for a few moments as the sound of someone rummaging through something echoed from the ship. After a short pause, a contraption made of assorted objected peeked out from the ship. A shout of "Grab on!" came from the deck.

Is that a... rubber chicken? Jack thought.

They may have been a bit kooky, but it was better than being alone on the open sea, so Jack hoisted himself up onto the stick.

Oassu sighed when they said they were going south west "Alright Cap'n but is an important part of the map missing?" he asked before curiously watching Guybrush fashion an elaborate platform to hoist the man up on "Huh.....well thats...kinda cool" he muttered to himself before moving over to help hoist the person up "It's but a boy!" he said surprised as he saw the small figure clinging to the stick as they pulled him up.

Jack collapsed on the deck, wheezing, for a few seconds. He hadn't realized just how tired he'd become from holding onto that board for so long. Struggling a bit, he flipped himself over, and mumbled, "Aye... aye.. cap'n.. blow.. the... man... something like that."

((Soooooo sorry I haven't posted! I had a sleepover at a hotel yesterday, so I wasn't able to post. In any case, my absence gives me time for a dramatic entrance I just thought up right now. Adventure, here we come!))

Amara snickered, eyeing the group below them as she listened intently to their conversation. "Hah, they're so busy getting ready that they haven't even begun to check what's important," she thought, balancing herself on the yard, gripping the fore topmast steadily. Seeing as they were already quite a distance out to sea, she slid down a rope, expertly hopping down right before hitting the fore boom. "Mornin', mates," she announced with a quaint smile. "'Name's Amara Clyde, and I 'eard all o' the conversation you blokes had e'er since ye stepped onto the ship." Remembering the half-drowned lad they were pulling up, she pitched in the effort, helping them drag the poor boy, clinging desperately to the plank.

I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.
Bummer.

Jack hauled himself up off the ground with a grunt, and shook himself, sending droplets of water flying in all directions. "I'm Jack La- erm, Rackham. I take it you're the captain, Guybrush... Threepweed?" He took a look around. This crew didn't seem as menacing as the last few he'd seen, but appearances could be deceiving. He decided to keep his head down until he made himself sure of that.

Guybrush wriggled in his seat. "I'm just afraid it'll still be wiggling when I eat it," he muttered. Resigning, he picked up a fork and stabbed at the squid, popped it into his mouth and chewed hard, as if he wanted to kill it again.

His eyes closed tightly, he finished his meal and shuddered. "It was... good," he choked out. "I still hate squids, though."

As the conversation progressed, Jack munched happily away on his squid. Sure, it was a bit squishy, and he wasn't sure if it was actually dead or not, but it was food. He kept his head down, trying to make sure these guys wouldn't kick him off the boat once they found out he was useless. They seemed friendly enough, but you never could know with a pirate...

Oassu was helping himself to some wine when he burst out laughing "Allergic to seafood? What are you kidding?" he said between guffaws as he wiped a tear from his eye "Oh that's rich really it is," he said calming down slightly with a big grin on his face "Bread and fruit are in limited supply when you can be out at sea for months I hope your prepared to go hungry if you're allergic to ALL seafood" he chuckled settling back down to his meal.
