((@CCCM: Hey! Long time no see. We are in the process of revamping and - in a way - restarting this RP. You interested? Just read what OOC discussions we've had since the CR "shutdown" and you'll be up to date.))

((What the heck. . . I'll rewrite my application.

This is Franziska's. Not like there's anything you all didn't already know :no-no: ))

Name: Franziska von Karma

Age: 21

Job: Prosecutor

Appearance: Franziska is a petite 5' 3", but appears taller due to her 4" heeled boots. She has light bluish-grey hair and wears small, turquoise earrings. She dresses in a long black vest with yellowish-gold trimming, along with a black miniskirt. Under her vest is a long-sleeved white blouse with puffy sleeves and decorated cuffs. She wears black, leather gloves and is never seen without her beloved whip.

Bio: From a very young age, Franziska had been considered a prosecuting prodigy. She is a perfectionist to the highest degree, and is currently employed as one of two "High Prosecutors" at the Prosecutors' Office. She is known for being difficult to get along with, and expects nothing but perfection and attention to detail from those she works with (anything less, and said coworker can expect their fair-share of lashings). However if one is lucky enough to get on her good side - an can earn her respect - she will be loyal to them . . . even though she might not openly show it. Franziska also has a tendency to deny any "weakening" emotions she may feel. Love, sadness, jealousy, empathy, Franziska keeps them all inside, and often ignores them herself if she feels they will compromise her goal of "perfection". The emotions she does choose to acknowledge, she openly displays: pride, anger, joy, frustration, anything what gives her an adrenaline boost and helps her accomplish her "perfection".

((Hi, GDM! Yeah, I'm totally cool with this. The only thing I'm confused with is where to go from here. How does a detective go about getting information? I was thinking about Floyd asking Franziska about her witness, but I don't know.))

((@CCCM: Franziska will (when we start up this "new" RP) be relieved of her prior duties regarding the case she was working on in favor of Sheila's trial. In truth, that is the only way I believe we can get everyone on the same page and keep this RP alive. Therefore, the witness from Franziska's prior case is basically irrelevant now (much to Franziska's dismay. . . that man was a very good witness, IIRC) because she is not concentrating on any other cases. The entire focus of this RP will shift to Sheila's trial.

Question: Is the file Floyd received about Shelia's trial? If so, perhaps Floyd would like to be one of the head detectives on the case? Keep in mind that we are still trying to place Lana (Franzika Von ehmpke5) in a position as well. You should get in on any discussion between Lida, ToonBlade, and FVE5 to determine who makes up the defense team and who plays the detective(s). I don't know how you guys want to handle it, but I think almost anything you all come up with would be great.

Sorry to stop with the other plots we had going in this RP so abruptly, but at least this way everyone is on RPing together.))

((@ALL: We need someone to be the judge! Anyone interested in possibly dropping their character/character's professoin in favor of being the judge? FVE5, what about Lana? Would you be game with her presiding over the courtroom? Lol, random idea on my part, but it might work.))

((@Lida; @ToonBlade; @Franzika Von Ehmpke5; @CCCM: It seems that one of the only things we have left to do now is to figure out who makes up the defense team and who makes up the detectives. This is what I've gathered so far- let me know how accurate it is:

- CCCM, you are interested in being the head detective.
- FVE5, you are alright with Lana being the defense attorney. There was also talk about having Lana be detective.
- Lida, you believe Sheila would want to defend herself.
- ToonBlade, you want to RP Adam Blade, a defense attorney.

So at this point, if everyone got the positions they wanted, we would have three people at the defense bench, and one detective. This is why I suggested above that FVE5 have Lana preside over the trial as judge. That way, Lida and ToonBlade could be defense and CCCM would still be the detective. We have a quite a few people who are interested in joining this trial, and that is absolutely fantastic! It does make assigning positions a challenge, though. . .

Or ToonBlade, maybe you want to take over as judge? FVE5 was going to be the defense attorney first. . . .

Like I said earlier, I don't know how you all want to do it. Maybe a few PMs between the four of you are in order?

These are the position I have solidified at present; I will add more as the time comes:

Prosecution Team:
Prosecutors- Howl Ingmune and Franziska von Karma
Detective(s)-__________________

Defense Team:
Defendant- Sheila Axiom
Defense Attorney(s)- ___________________

Judge: __________________
(If no one wants this position, then maybe he can end up as a universal character? One that everyone and anyone could RP when the time was right?))

((@LWOD: That could work. But I think CCCM wanted to RP the head detective. We could definitely do that for any other witnesses the prosecution had, though.))

((@ALL: UPDATE!

Here is the new cast, based on the information from here in the thread and PMing various people:

Prosecution Team:
Prosecutors- Howl Ingmune and Franziska von Karma
Detective(s)-Floyd Ambrose

Defense Team:
Defendant- Sheila Axiom
Defense Attorney(s)- Lana Skye & Shelia Axiom (defending herself)

Judge: Adam Blade

How does this look to everyone? As soon as I get the okay, I'll have Franziska receive the phone call from the Chief Prosecutor, and we'll get this party started!!! ))

Floyd decided to try and find the defendant, one-- he checked the file-- Sheila Axiom. He went to the main lobby of the building and checked the register. The defendant was an attorney, so she should have been somewhere in the building. He found where her office was and headed there, clutching the file and skimming through it as he went.

He arrived at the office door and knocked, then waited.

Now...CCCM, Sheila was in Franziska's office when we left off. I dunno whether we're botching that or if GDM wants to shoo Sheila out of her office when she receives the call, so I don't know if Sheila is in her office at this point. Floyd might have to wait out there a minute.))

*Meanwhile in the Grossberg and Co. Law Offices.*

It was a regular day. Adam was laying back on his chair, his feet on top of the desk. He had been sleeping for nearly an hour, until....

*Phone rings*

"Zzzzz.....zzzzz...................... huh, uh...?! Guuaaaaaa!!"
*Thud!*

"Oh man..... What in...?" the young deffense attorney said as he picked up the phone. He answered with a voice that clearly screamed ' just woke up from a nap'.
"Hello...?"
"Hello, is this Adam Blade?" Spoke a man with a deep voice.
"Yeah...."
"Good day sir. Since all other judges in the district are currenlty occupied with other cases at the momment, the state has chosen you to be a temporary judge in the trial against Shelia Axiom."

"Wait, WHAT?!" Adam yelled. Suddenly, he was wide awake due to the news. He was shocked, yet exited and happy. ME?! Being chosen to be a temporary judge?! I guess my deffense skills are extraurdianry if I was chosen!!, he thought.

"I know what you're probably thinking, and no, you were not chosen because of you skills as a deffense attorney. The state just had to pick a random attorney from the district, and your name came up.
"I wans't thinking that." (God danmit! And here I thought I was something special!!)

"You are to report to the courthouse tomorrow at 8 AM to learn on how a judge's work goes. The trial will then start at 10 AM. We hope to see you tomorrow. Have a good day."

The man hung up. Adam then put the phone down, his mind procecing every bit of information he had just heard. Eventually, he said....
"Well, guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow."

((Alright! Let's get this started!))
((@CCCM: Sheila shouldn't be too long in Franziska's office. . . probably just a quick conversation after her phone call.))
((@ToonBlade: Sure, sounds great!))
((Heh, long post is LONG!))

((This is Lida's previous post, just so you all know where I am coming from with Franziska's response.))
Lida_Rose wrote:
"It's Sheila Axiom," she answered. "The door is open." Upon hearing those words, Sheila cautiously went inside Franziska's office, curtsying respectfully to her once there.
"My apologies for disturbing you, Prosecutor von Karma," she said. "But the case I was working, the trial that was supposed to be today, has been suspended until tomorrow, and we both know I will be at my own hearing, therefore unable to prosecute. So, if you are free tomorrow...would you take the case for me?" She waited stiffly for Franziska's response.

Sheila's rather-blunt request caught Franziska slightly off guard. For a moment she simply said nothing and looked down at the case file she had been reviewing, thinking about how to respond. It wasn't often that she received a request from a fellow prosecutor, let alone Sheila. She must be in a tight spot if she came to me for help. . . She stole a quick glance at her planner, seeing that the majority of her day tomorrow was clear. She restrained the urge to shake her head from side to side. Bah! I could have used that free time to continue building my perfect case.

Slowly, Franziska began to raise her head to look Sheila in the eye. "I don't typically do this, you know." She turned her head and looked at her planner again, knowing full well that her day tomorrow was clear. "I don't seem to have many prior-commit--"

Interrupting her mid-sentence, the phone sitting on Franziska's desk began to ring. Almost as a reflex, Franziska shot her eyes down to glare a the phone for a moment before speaking again. She sighed. "I'll just be a moment." As she reached out to grab a hold of the receiver, she motioned with her other hand for Sheila to sit down.

((To expedite this part, I assume Sheila sits down))

Franziska watched Sheila as she took her seat, ensuring she obeyed orders. Then, she brought the phone to her ear and swiveled her chair to the side so that she was looking out the window. "This is Franziska von Karma."

"Hello, Franziska." The Chief Prosecutor spoke with a tone of friendly authority, something Franziska never quite understood. "I'm glad to see I caught you while you were in the office."

Franziska faintly nodded her head, eager for the Chief to get to the point. "Yes. What do you need?" Her response came out slightly ruder than she intended, but she let it slide.

For a moment the Chief didn't respond, but then started back up. "I needed another prosecutor for Sheila Axiom's trial tomorrow, so I chose you. I'll need you to drop all of your current cases and focus on hers. A guilty verdict is extremely important to maintain the reputation of the Prosecutors' Office, and I know you can dish those out like gravy! Ha, ha ha ha."

Franziska briefly turned her head to look at Sheila, then quickly turned away. How ironic the twists of fate could be. "I understand." She swiveled her chair back to a forward position and gathered up her former-case file, hitting the bottoms of the pages on the desk. "Wait. . . you said another prosecutor? Am I co-chairing?" Franziska continued to look down as she slid the file into one of the drawers on her desk.

"Yes indeed you are!"

The Chief sounded too happy for Franziska's liking. She tightened up inside.

"You're just going to die when you hear who it is you are going to be sharing the prosecutor's bench with."

"Well, who is it?" Franziska was getting impatient with this man. She didn't like having to co-chair with anyone to begin with, but the tone of the Chief's voice made her even more agitated.

"Howl Ingmune. He has your case file."

Franziska shot to her feet, and had to catch herself on the desk with her free hand. "HOWL INGMUNE?!?! Co-chairing with HIM?!?!" At first, Franziska thought she was going to throw up. Then she thought she may faint. Finally, a feeling of sheer anger spread throughout her body. "Now Chief, you listen to ME! There is no-"

"No "but"'s about it, Franziska von Karma. I've already made all the arrangements. Talk to Howl to find out more about the case." Franziska thought she heard the Chief begin to laugh as he hung up, leaving her with the phone still venomously pressed against her ear.

Hearing silence on the other end of the line, Franziska slowly returned to her chair and replaced the receiver. She mumbled to herself as she ran her fingers through her hair. "Why. . . just why."

Franziska's eyes shot up again when she realized that Sheila was still in the room; she had forgotten all about her. She glanced down at her desk. "I suppose you heard the last part of the Chief's and my conversation just now." Still trying to regain her composure, Franziska slowly lifted her head to speak to Sheila. "I am already prosecuting a case tomorrow. Your case."

Although Franziska couldn't explain it, she was almost ashamed at that fact. She rose to her feet again and walked over to the window, trying very hard not to show any emotion on the subject. "Howl Ingmune and I are the prosecution for your trial."

((Oh man it's good to be back! Not the best post, but it was getting too long so I cut some of the more-descriptive stuff out. It gets the job done >_>))
((@LWOD: Howl can pretty much come in any time now.))

Floyd glanced up and down the hall in both directions, making sure noone was around. Silently, he pulled out his butterfly knife and started to play with it, flipping and spinning it around in his hand. He loved to watch it move, it was almost poetic. Maybe the military had more of an effect on him than he thought.

As the minutes passed, he began to wonder what exactly this case would entail. This would be his first trial where he was going to be a witness, and he was intrigued as to why Valenzia asked him personally to gather this information for her. It almost excited him, although the prospect of returning to that woman's office did not.

Adam noticed Lana walk in. It had only been 10 minutes since he reciebed the phone call. After receiving it, he had just stood there, not knowing what to do next. In the end, he decided to talk to Lana.

Adam could sence she was holding back on her answer. After all, as a deffense attorney, a skill like that is pretty ueful when cross-examining witnesess.

"I can tell there's something you don't want to tell me. But don't worry, I don't really care that much anyhow. Oh and by the way, I'll keep the whole you being the former chief prosecutor thing a secret."

Sheila sat when Franziska indicated she do so. After all, standing in high heels wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world, even to someone who was used to them, like she was. She listened to Franziska's side of the conversation with moderate amusement. It sounded like she was co-chairing with Howl for a case, to which Sheila snickered. Those two would be the best prosecution team ever...assuming they didn't rip each other's throats out before the case began. When Franziska hung up the phone, Sheila straightened.

"Erm...Look, if you want to be alone--" she started to say, but was cut off by Franziska's next sentences.
"I suppose you heard the last part of the Chief's and my conversation just now.I am already prosecuting a case tomorrow. Your case." Sheila couldn't believe what she heard, and felt as if she was drenched in cold water. No. It couldn't be true. "Howl Ingmune and I are the prosecution for your trial." She noticed how Franziska tried not to show any emotion, and that meant she was trying to hide how she was really feeling. Classic her.

"I see...Interesting," she responded, hoping she sounded calm, even though her voice was probably wavering. She cleared her throat. "That is quite unexpected. Why would two prosecutors be needed over a simple forgery case? Not just any two prosecutors, but the best ones, for that matter?" She twirled her hair in her finger as she started thinking. "Unless there is a particular reason I need to be found guilty of something I didn't do...?" She looked at Franziska and stood up, brushing off her dress and curtsying to her respectfully. "I should leave you alone to prepare your case, and wish you the best of luck." She walked to the door, opened it, turned, and smiled. "You'll need it to deal with Mr. Ingmune." She laughed and walked out of Franziska's office, closing the door behind her. As soon as she did, her face fell as she walked to her office. She'd have to defend herself...against Howl and Franziska? Why them? She considered them her best friends...or two of them, at least, since she became prosecutor. It took her a moment to realize someone was in front of her office, she was so lost in thought. But when she saw him, she recognized him immediately.

"Oh, Detective Ambrose," she greeted. "Is there any business you have with me? And why are you holding a knife?"

Floyd jumped when he saw Sheila coming towards her office. "Oh! Blimey," he muttered under his breath, putting his knife away. "I didn't mean- I mean, I was just passing the time..." The detective sighed. "Ok, let me explain. I came here to get some information on your case tomorrow for someone." He showed her the file, but held on to it.

"Erm, perhaps we should continue this inside?" he suggested, pointing to the door.

A grin grew across Howl's face. The Chief had already delivered the news: the wolf and the whip would be on the same side of the court for tomorrow's trial. A rarity for the current court system, to allow both sides to co-chair, but Howl felt the opportunity to prosecute with the Devil would be one he would need to capitalize on. Work everything under its skin, make it trip while still receiving the verdict they both desired. A toothy grin became apparent as Howl could feel her whip break beneath his feet.

He waited in the shadows of the further hall as Sheila left Franziska's office. He made haste to the Devil's door, wishing to capture whatever mood Franziska was in.
"You say it as if it's a problem." Howl's boots noted contact with the floor as each footstep sounded with a heavy 'clunk', making way towards Franziska. As Howl walked, he became his normal, serious self. "I'm not enjoying this anymore than you are... I really wish we could have met with different terms than this." He sat shy of Franziska's desk.

For what few times he ever felt guilty, it was now that the gravity of intercepting an acquittal and turning it into a conviction hit Howl. He would be convicting one of a few people in his life that he looked kindly upon. "But we have a job to uphold nonetheless, and the Chief specifically requested us to protect the reputation and name of the Prosecutor's Office. If Sheila were to be innocent, then she will be able to trump anything we can produce. A demeaning thought, I know, but it sure beats Sheila's conviction. As long as both sides presented to their case to their own perfection, then justice will rule in what is right."

Howl's eye rose to the wall across from him as silence gaped the room. He remembered the case files he had in his hand, and spun it onto Franziska's desk. "I have been speaking, of course, assuming you know the subject of my conversation." He affixed his eyepatch, ears keen to what the Devil would say.

Sheila raised an eyebrow.
"Get information about a case from the defendant? How unusual," she said with a chuckle. "Of course we can discuss this in my office." She opened her door and walked in, holding it open for Floyd. "Please, come right in." She wondered if the detective was handling things the best way possible, talking to the defendant about the case, but she kind of appreciated it. After all, what better way to know about a case than to hear it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak? She waited for him to get in and start asking his questions.

Floyd nodded and entered, taking a seat in front of her desk. "Well, I'll be honest, Ms. Axiom: I'm not quite sure how to begin getting information on this case, but I had no other leads on where to go. I was hoping you could tell me what happened, and who's involved so I could gather some information." He adjusted his collar and cleared his throat.

"Listen, just between you and I, miss, I'm not trying to get you convicted. I'm just doing my job. I need to gather this all by tomorrow, and I had nowhere else to turn. All I ask is you just tell me your side of the story, and we'll keep quiet about this little meeting." Floyd managed a sheepish smile.

Sheila chuckled. How does a detective get handed a case and have no idea where to start? You'd think he'd at least know who the prosecutor, or, in this case, prosecutors, were.

"Well, it does not matter whether you are trying to get me convicted. It seems as though someone else is," she said. She opened her mouth to tell him about what just happened at Franziska's office, but stopped herself. He didn't need to know about that at this point. She smiled pleasantly and stepped inside, closing the door behind her carefully before walking to her desk and sitting down. "It's very simple. I've been accused of forging evidence when I did nothing of the sort." She shrugged. "At first, I thought the defense attorney only accused me just so I would be removed from the case, but, something's cropped up that makes me wonder just what is going on." She ran a hand from her hair and looked Floyd in the eye. "The prosecutors on this case are Howl Ingmune and Franziska von Karma. I would suppose talking to them would be the place to start."

Floyd nodded, and then his eyes opened wide. "F-Franziska...?" he whispered, then cursed to himself. "I've gotta go talk to that... No, I'm goin' to Howl," he said, more to himself than to Ms. Axiom.

He shook his head. "Anyway, if you don't mind my asking, what was it that makes you think this is a set-up?" he asked, putting the file down on the floor next to him.

"There is a simple reason, which I'm sure you can figure out, just from who the prosecutors are," Sheila answered, wagging her index finger. "It's a forgery case, which is simple enough to prove, so why two prosecutors?" She twirled her hair. "It's only speculation, of course, but most cases only have one prosecutor in the first place, even homicides, and this is only a misdemeanor charge. It just doesn't make sense to me at this time."

Floyd scratched his chin. "Hmm... You're right. I was wondering the same thing myself." He was beginning to get excited. This was starting to get interesting. A mystery to solve. Why the big interest here?

"You know what? I'm gonna get to the bottom of this. I'll tell you anything I can find out!" he stood up, gathering the file. For a moment, he thought about this. He was supposed to testify against this woman tomorrow, but he strangely felt like he needed to help her somehow; he didn't understand. "And, um, as a favor to me, don't tell anyone about this, ok?"

((Phoenix Wright lost his badge over a misdemeanor charge. . . ? I think forging evidence would have to be a felony for someone to lose their license to practice law. Then again, this is the PW world we are dealing with ^_^))

"I should leave you alone to prepare your case, and wish you the best of luck. You'll need it to deal with Mr. Ingmune." With that, Sheila abruptly left the office, leaving Franziska to mull over her thoughts.

It is times like these when I wish prosecutors were consulted about what cases they were given. . . Prosecuting a friend? Losing all the work she did on her previous cases? Co-chairing with. . . him? The latter was what bothered Franziska the most. Had any other prosecutor in the building been selected as her co-chair, Franziska wouldn't have minded. Not that she would have been pleased with it, but they would have been better than Howl Ingmune.

The "clud" of heavy combat boots pulled Franziska from her thoughts, and the voice she heard after caused her head to spring up and her hands to quickly grab hold of her infamous whip.

"You say it as if it's a problem." Howl Ingmune sauntered into her office, without so much as a knock or an invitation inside.

Franziska did nothing other than give him an icy glare while reluctantly listening to the rest of what he had to say.

Howl finished with, "I have been speaking, of course, assuming you know the subject of my conversation."

With that, Franziska shot him a "you've-got-to-be-kidding-me" look and a quick flog of her whip at the air above Howl's head. "Fool." She moved from her position at the window to the large, mahogany bookshelf across the room from where Howl was sitting. Turning to face him, she leaned up against it. This was her office, and her domain. She needed to be in a position of dominance.

Before speaking, Franziska closed her eyes and crossed her arms, "You speak about an acquittal as if that's what you want." She opened her eyes, and looked up at Howl with a frown. "I can only hope that you won't let any personal feelings affect your performance as a prosecutor tomorrow." She looked at Howl for a moment more before leaning over to her desk and picking up the file Howl had so carelessly thrown there. With her gloved hand, she began to leaf through it. "As for me. . . I will make this the perfect case. My witnesses will be perfectly prepared and I will have the perfect evidence lined up to ensure the defendant's conviction." Franziska looked up from the file. "And if it so happens that, by some miracle, the defendant is acquitted despite all that I have done to build this case. . . . "

Not quite sure which words would express what she was trying to say, she paused and studied the door to her office. What did Franziska really want from this case? Would she be able to live with herself if she did end up getting Sheila convicted? Would she be able to live with herself if she didn't? For the first time in a long while, Franziska was unsure of what she really wanted to do.

". . . then that only means the truth prevailed." Is all she could come up with before returning her attention to Howl. Perhaps she was too unnerved by the fact that Howl was going to be her co-chair, but Franziska began to believe that she may actually be able to accept an acquittal for this case, despite her desire to maintain her win-record.

((Some of you may think that Franziska may be a little OOC here. . . allow me to explain why I don't think so. *SPOILERS AHEAD* In AAI, I feel like she had made progress since we last met her, in the sense that she as getting more grounded in reality. Heck, even in 3-5 she agrees to help undo the Psych-locks holding the Sacred Cavern closed. Although in some situations, she still values a "Guilty" verdict more than the truth, I feel like a few more years experience as a prosecutor would have taught her that everything isn't about winning. And this case, having a close friend as the defendant , I believe would be a situation where she second-guesses herself.

Just my take. I felt a need to explain her seemingly-apathetic attitude.))

((Thanks for clearing that up, I thought the same thing for a second. But yeah, I see where you're coming from, and considering the circumstances, it makes sense.))

As Floyd walked briskly down the hall, his mind was racing. He wanted to help Ms. Axiom in any way he could, and the only way to do that was to get to the bottom of the controversy here. He, against his impartial nature, believed that Sheila was innocent, but he needed to get the facts first. He decided to pay a visit to Howl Ingmune.

However, when he reached the office, the door was locked. Howl wasn't there. "Bollocks," he cursed out loud, and slowly turned around to face Franziska Von Karma's office door. "She's always in there... For better or worse." Taking a deep breath, he approached the door and knocked, praying that he could escape this meeting without any fresh scars.

Sheila didn't even have time to respond to the detective before he left her office, he was so excited to investigate. Of course, she wouldn't tell anyone he went to talk to her. That went without saying. The law was easy enough: if she lost the case, she would lose her badge and spend a few months in jail. And, of course, she'd go in completely unprepared. Not that she wasn't used to that, back when she was a defense attorney.

"I'll be fine," she said aloud to her empty office. She didn't know for sure anymore if that would be true. If this really was set up for some reason, and it went all the way up to the Chief Prosecutor, who was the one that called Franziska in the first place...she was in for the fight of her life. She wanted to know what Howl made of things, but it wouldn't be appropriate to talk to him now. No, he had to approach her...And I'd most likely be behind bars by then. I paid my way out of the Detention Center, but I'll have to be back tonight, before closing hours. After all, they need to make a big show of me being a criminal, although I'm not sure why. She sighed and filed through some cases, not really thinking about what she was doing as she let her mind wander.

((@LWOD: I would normally wait until Howl responded before having Franziska answer the door, but for the sake of the progression of the RP, she's going to let Floyd into her office.))

Hearing someone lightly knock, Franziska directed her attention away from Howl and looked towards her half open door. She took a few steps forward to as to see who was on the other side. Floyd Ambrose. . . ? What would he need from me?

With a heavy sigh, Franziska spoke to the detective in an annoyed tone. "You again? What do you want?"
