"You know, for a long time...I listened to crappy pop music. I listen to it now and I can't stand it," Lida admitted with a chuckle. "But it used to be the only music I listened to besides classical. My brother changed that when he took a rock history class and broadened his horizons." She wrinkled her nose. "I love the music, but can't stand it when he quizzes me randomly over rock history stuff." She laughed and looked at the CD Chase put down. "My brother already has all the good songs from that CD." She smiled brightly. "Not that anything I just said has much to do with the current conversation." She laughed again.

Chase shrugged. "Whatever. Conversation's conversation. Anyway, whaddyou say we get outta here? What do you want to do?" he asked, leading the way out of the store, before turning suddenly and asking, "Who was the lead singer of Rush?"

"Thanks for a great class everyone. See you next week." As soon as the instructor said those words Bethany ran to the corner of the room and took a swig from her purple nalgene bottle. She was so exhausted and a hot shower was practically screaming her name. She walked out the door and started her walk home. As soon as she got home she showered and changed into something cute. She decided to go to the movies. True she had no one to go with, but maybe she would meet someone there. Anything is possible, she told herself.

"Hey, we're already doing what I wanted to do. Why don't you pick what we do now?" Lida asked with a cheesy smile on her face as she walked next to Chase. "Lead singer of Rush? Uhhh..." She blushed with embarrassment. "I'm not sure...Just because my brother randomly quizzes me doesn't mean I ever know any of the answers." She laughed a little uneasily. "I'll be sure to google it when I get home."

Chase grinned and left the store, walking at his own quick, energetic pace, just like everything else he did. "It's Geddy Lee, just so you know. I was just kidding. I'm not gonna quiz you on that stuff all the time." He stroked his chin in thought. "Now, where could we go?" He found a "YOU ARE HERE" kiosk and looked it over, with a rather unimpressed look. "Hmm. I dunno, nothing here's really exciting. How 'bout we go for a joyride?" he asked, a sudden glint in his eyes.

"Oh, yeah. Geddy Lee. I totally knew that. He and I are like, best buds!" Lida said with a laugh, then she suddenly stopped when Chase asked about going for a joy ride. "A...joy ride? Please tell me that doesn't involve stealing a vehicle from someone." She seemed to pale as she twirled her hair around her finger nervously. "Because if it does, I'd sooner walk home."

Chase shook his head quickly. "N-n-no! No stealing! We can get a motorcycle from my friend Mick, he has a garage not too far from here. Trust me, it's totally fine!" he said, almost nervously. He was incapable of feeling fear due to a medical condition, but at the same time he did not want to upset Lida on a first date.

Lida's eyes narrowed skeptically. She trusted Chase, but this "Mick" guy and his "garage"...could she trust the legitimacy of that business? It seemed a little fishy to her, but maybe she was just being paranoid.
"You realize, if you or your friend has stolen the motorcycle you intend to drive, I'd be arrested as your accomplice, right? I kinda...W-well...It's hard enough for me to integrate myself into society as it is, y-you know?" she asked, blushing with embarrassment. "Besides which, I kinda..." She averted her gaze. "...have an aversion to motorcycles. No big thing, I just...prefer not to be near them."

Chase tried to reassure her by lightly touching her arm. "Hey, I'm not gonna do anything illegal or dangerous, or any of that! I'd never wanna hurt you like that." He smiled to convince her he was telling the truth and tugged on her arm gently. "C'mon! It'll be fun!"

Oh god, that smile...This guy certainly was being persuasive. Lida didn't want to make that smile falter, but...Snap out of it. You can't spend your whole life doing what other people want!
"It may be fun for you, maybe, but for me..." That tugging on her arm, how excited Chase looked...She didn't want to ruin that. "...Well, never mind. Ummm...Go ahead and lead the way, then." Yeah, great idea. Let this stranger drive you around in a motorcycle. You don't even know if he's a good driver! What if he crashes, huh? Then what?!

Chase grinned joyfully, now hurrying excitedly from the mall down the street. "Alright! You're gonna have a great time, don't worry! Motorcycle rides with me are always fun!" He led her down the street quickly, crossing streets impatiently, even as lights just turned green. He was always fast and very reckless, and it had been a while since he'd been with someone who was not used to keeping up with him.

"H-hey! Slow down!" Lida ordered as they practically ran down the streets. "If we keep going like this, we'll get hit by a car before we even get to the motorcycle!" She felt her cheeks flush as cars honked at them. It was something she wasn't used to. She had jay-walked before a couple of times, but only for, like, two seconds, maybe. This was getting to be ridiculous. Maybe she shouldn't have said "yes" to riding in a motorcycle with this guy. She could just picture him being one of those types that would try to squeeze into places with barely any room, speeding, and running stop lights and stop signs. Just the thought made her sick to her stomach and very ill at ease.

Chase grinned, happy to be sharing something he loved to do with someone. It wasn't often that people let him take them along to do this kind of thing. After a few minutes, they arrived at Mick's Garage, a small repair shop where Chase's good friend Mick was the owner. They had met when Chase arrived at age 14, interested in learning about cars and motorcycles. Since then, Mick supplied Chase with free bikes whenever there was an extra one he came across, provided that Chase fixed it up.

Chase led Lida in, and Mick looked up from a car he was working on. "Oh. Hey, Chase," he muttered, looking down, then back up immediately. "Wait, who's that?" Chase stopped and introduced her. "This is Lida! We were gonna go on a joyride! Say hi, Lida!"
