The flying shards of ice caught the fire man off-guard. He let down the fire dome since it was useless, only to see several ice shards flying straight at him. He put up a fire shield hastily, relinquishing the fire around Exo. But the water guy wasn't even fazed.
He connected all the shards that flew at him and forged them into an ice blade.
"Fancy a duel?" He looked directly at Exo, who got up unsteadily and pulled out her katana.
"This won't take long," Exo answered.
The fire guy launched himself out of the fire and onto Aria. He made the air around the two of them really hot.
"Don't fall~" he taunted from her back.

She opened her mouth for a second to say something, then shut it when she wasn't sure if she could trust her voice. When she tried again, her voice still came out with a slight shake. "Are you insane? Have you missed the last-God knows how long-while of me butchering you?"

Exo kept running, down the wall and onto the floor where she would stop. As she ran, the wall below her suddenly turned to ice and she fell headfirst onto the metal floor.

The fourth shot was like a distant echo.

The fifth sound confused Carmen. That hadn't been a shot, it had been a faint clatter. She looked down her arm to her hand and found the fingers dangling loosely from how she had been holding the gun.
Meanwhile, the gun lay on the ground.

But nothing happened.
Anthony started to laugh. He laughed harder and harder, mockingly. His laugh became hysterical, maniacal. "Do you see?! You have no chance to survive! Give up, you worthless human!" He taunted, throwing a tentacle at him, first taking the weapon, then smacking him into the rubble of a building.
He then stepped towards Steel, lying broken in the ruins of the building. Anthony picked him up by the collar, his demons surrounding Steel's face ravenously.
"Now that you know you're going to die anyway, tell me where to find your friends. I'll kill them quickly and painlessly if you do, I promise," he said with an oily, raspy voice. His darkened hands clenched his shirt, and one pulled a pistol out, pressing it against his cheek. "And I'd better get a fucking answer."

"So if you have to kill me, do it now. After all, you said it: we know we're going to die, anyway. It surprises me you even thought we would give our friends away." Steel sighed.

But then some kind of light beam hit the Tentacle Man in the back. Steel looked at the source of it.

Carmen should have reached for the gun the moment she realized she had dropped it but instead her eyes were fixated on the sight in front of her.
Everything she had done to Dies was healing: the burns, the broken bones, the lacerations and bullet holes, everything, but what stunned her the most was the sudden appearance of something rather than the disappearances of that made her whisper, "Oh God..."
Dies had legs now.
For a moment, Carmen was wondering if she was still taking that nap from earlier. This didn't make any sense, but neither had the things he had been saying to her of all people. It couldn't be real that he was standing up, fully healed, and now saying, "Come with me. It will be okay."
She just stared, wrestling with her thoughts. Going with him meant leaving the Legion. Leaving meant all the things she knew she was afraid of facing, including the more direct threat of earning a spot on Zarran's shit list (look where Dies had ended up when Zarran somehow caught up with him). Those facts had been a strong anchor for her to accept what she had and just deal with it, just like she had to do after the Accident.
She closed her eyes and sighed.
"You are insane," Carmen said finally. She crossed around his back, pulling out a small object as she went. "And it's gotta be contagious if I'm doing this..."
She gripped onto the cuffs and stuck the key in, turning for the release.

The Tentacle Man was shooting randomly.
Is he trying to find me? He must by desperate.
BlackJack chuckled. He pictured the Tentacle Man terrified, pleading with the God he abandoned to save him.
But BlackJack was woken from his reverie when a terrible pain shot up his arm. He had been shot! While he was off day-dreaming, Tentacle Man's random fire had hit him. The pain was incredible.
What the hell kind of gun does this bastard use, anyway?
But the worst was that the reflex made him drop the Solar Generator. The catalyst cracked audibly as the weapon hit the ground.
---? BlackJack didn't have time to think. Tentacle Man whirled around. He raised his gun.
Is this the end...?

Tentacle Man had emptied all his bullets. Tentacle Man glanced at his guns, confused-looking. He took a step towards BlackJack and passed out. Whatever had powered him was still out of commission from the Solar Blast. BlackJack walked carefully up to Tentacle Man. Tentacle Man's demonic-looking energy-armor was only protecting splotched sections of his body. BlackJack reached into his belt and pulled out a sedative. He stuck it Tentacle Man's neck.
"That should take care of him for a while." He glanced at Steel. "Now what?"
((I know that this is serious godmodding, but I want this confrontation to end. This back-and-forth game of advantage ping-pong is getting old. And if BlackJack and Steel end up on the losing side, they die. If we win, Anthony just gets sedated. We can move on to the Legion base to help Exo and Aria, and you can skip to when Anthony wakes up and gets back to random destruction. Until next time

'Right' didn't mean easy.
She scooped her gun back up with only a moment's hesitation before heading towards the only device in the room. For the most part, it was mainly for providing oxygen but she pressed down on one button and pressed her remaining fingers into the indentations at the sides. A small tingling sensation brushed over the pads of her fingers until a small click came from the door.
Carmen tossed a look over her shoulder to Dies (still half expecting to see the psychic mauled and legless) and said, "I don't suppose you were thinking up a plan get out of HQ in one piece?"

Steel was panting, breathing quickly. The adrenaline of the recent scene had really gotten to him, and he was still recovering from it.
The Tentacle Man was lying, unconscious, on the ground. Steel looked at BlackJack, who had asked him "What now?"
"...We should go back to the HQ. I don't think we could take this guy into interrogation, he could destroy the whole building in seconds...". He shook the dust off his clothes. He took a deep breath, and spoke again, this time making a question.
"Jack... what happened with your mask?", he asked, noticing BlackJack's characteristic item wasn't there.
