Only recently, scientists have discovered warps in the fabrics of time and space, and you are waiting in the harbor with a few other people who are chosen to embark with you to discover how these warps work, but make sure you are ready to face the thrill and excitement of getting warped into another time, or even a new universe! Name: Jay and Jeremy Slezak
Age: 21 and 26, respectively
Occupation: Freelance detectives
Appearance: Jay is about average height (I'd say about 5'9") and average weight, has messy, short-ish black hair, has hazel eyes, and usually wears all-blue outfits. Jeremy is a bit taller than Jay (maybe 5'10" or 11") and a bit thinner, has nearly-glowing blonde hair down to his shoulders, has green eyes, and usually wears all-green outfits. They both wear black tennis shoes that look like dress shoes, packs on their belts in which they carry their detective equipment, notepads, pencils, a PDA etc., and both wear silver bracelets on their left wrist which are dotted with tiny blue gems that almost seem to glow. One of the unique things Jay possesses is a monocle which he made that he puts over his right eye and which allows him to digitally zoom in on things to get a better look at them. Of course, he needs it because of his vision impairment. He also fitted a camera to it to take pictures of whatever he sees, but he does not use it much our of courtesy for others. Jeremy just carries around a digital camera to take pictures, not needing anything for sight. The cameras do have Radio Frequency connections to the PDAs as well as memory cards that can be inserted into them as backup, though, which is how the two detectives store the pictures they take. Oh, and they both have hoverboards.
Description: Jay and Jeremy are brothers. They are kind-hearted, polite, and are usually casual about things, but at times they have remarkable insight and can get serious and philosophical which can and has put people off occasionally. They have always had a sense that there is more out there than it seems; more than the "reality" they live in, but they have attenuated those thoughts around others because the brothers knew those others would probably not believe them or think they were crazy. They are very interested in things they can't understand, such as paranormal phenomena, time travel, et cetera. Being detectives and of the curious sort, Jay and Jeremy have always kept notes about the things they see and the people they meet. It is for this reason they always carry notepads and/or PDAs with them. After hearing about the trip, Jay and Jeremy requested admission because the adventure may answer some of the questions they have about the world in which the brothers reside. They listed some of their questions in the letter and explained their worth. To the brothers' surprise, Prof. Travis L. Intyme replied shortly thereafter, accepting their offer, claiming the two had "great potential". They promptly began preparing for the trip and their minds raced with predictions on what may lie on the "other side of the portal"...

Angel waited in the Kaikala Harbor, smelling the salty sea breeze and feeling the wind rush against her black hair. She took the letter from her messenger bag once more and reread it for the fourth time.

"Ms. Angelina Aquino,
There have been warps discovered in the fabric of time and space. You have been chosen as one of the few passengers to set sail aboard the S. S. Corentine to investigate one of the warps in the Philippine Sea. You will be embarking with other experts of their fields on the 13th of June at the Kaikala Harbor. Your ticket is enclosed in the envelope. Good luck.

Angel then slid it back into her bag, and glanced at the waters. She had looked at the ships anchored in the harbor, but there was no sign of the S. S. Corentine on the harbor, so she waited for her fellow passengers, and the ship, to arrive.

Howl walked down the boardwalk until he finally saw the Kaikala Harbor. He glanced once more at his note, and compared it to the title of the harbor: A match. He adjusted his eyepatch and walked closer towards the edge of the blue giant. He had never seen the ocean for himself, only on the internet and those cheesy 'Wish you were here!' postcards he got from his family in England. He glanced off at a female figure standing near him. She was holding something. Something he had seen before... a familiar envelope; Like the one he was currently carrying. Be known it wasn't a normal envelope... it had the same candle stain as his. He silently stood tall behind the holder of the same envelope, casting a dark shadow over her, and lightly tapped her shoulder. He spoke with a low, England harden dialect. "Are you here for the S.S. Corentine?"

You received the letter from Professor Intyme as well, I see," glancing at the envelope in his hands, similar to her own. "I'm Angel Aquino, a Forensic Science student," she said politely and seriously, extending her hand to shake.

Keith smiled as he approached the dock. "So, I get to be a reporter on the infamous SS Corentine... This is going to get me in the big time." Though the name sounds way to much like the SS Quarentine.

He watched as two people seemed to be waiting, talking. One had an eyepatch, the other looked like a scientist. He began to evesdrop on their conversation, to realize they were on the smae boat. Keith, pumped up, made a few strikes in the air before approaching the two. "Howdy. I hear you're waiting for the Corentine Ms. Aquino."

Angel heard another person come towards the edge of the harbor, this time a man in his early twenties in a black vest. "Howdy. I hear you're waiting for the Corentine, Ms. Aquino," he said to her."Yes. We both are, actually, and I presume you are, as well, Mr....." Angel said, waiting for him to introduce himself.

((Corentine is a name which means disaster. It has nothing to do with quarantine. :D))

Angel glanced at Howl after Keith motioned towards him. [color=#80FF00]"That man seems as though he doesn't like friends...Well, I would introduce him if I knew his name, but he didn't even have a chance to say his name to me." She then looked out onto the ocean again, took out her waterproof, optionally solar-powered camera usually used in her investigations, and took a picture of the lovely scenery.

Wow. Blunt, much? "Me? Well... I'm a freelance journalist... Didn't go to college. I had a mentor who worked for a newspaper in Austin Texas though. Other then that, I've been taught by experience to know three foreign languages, and I am trained in Muy Tai.

Angel wasn't sure what Howl was planning in asking this, but she decided that if they were to go and research this portal, he should know what she did, since the letter indicated that only the top of their own fields would be invited. "Second year, College of Forensic Science. My mother was a surgeon and my fther an electrical engineer, so I also learned much from their fields of experence. What's your profession then, Mr. Ingmune?" she then asked, just so that they would have equal knowledge.

((@LordWolfODonnell: Uh, I actually have no idea what you were about to say in "ignam..." so I'll leave it to that. And for a prosecutor, Howl sure had a lot of courses. Didn't he even mention Law, 'cause his main job is being a prosecutor, and you know that more than anyone.))

Seeing as she couldn't do much at the moment, Angel took a picture of both of the present passengers, attached the mini-printer (which she also used in investigations) to the camera, set it to print 1x1 pictures and printed the photos. She then got out her notebook with pre-made profiles, taped the photos and listed their names, physical descriptions and her own short biography of them based on the information given.

"I don't get it," Angel then said, after a few moments of silence between the three. "It says in the letter that the people invited are at the top of their fields. I'm just in second year, and you, Keith, are only a freelance journlist without college education. Of course, you, Mr. Ingmune are a professional, but that being the case, I can't help but wonder why the two of us are coming with a professional."

Howl scanned over Angel as she took a picture of him. He shrugged it off, although she did get his good side. He spoke up. "Mr. Intyme never defined 'field'. I, for one, took the meaning as in "A scholar area of interest or professionalism". Maybe he meant it more of 'fields of view', or 'preception'. But then again he says 'experts of their fields', which pushes the impression of the scholar definition. Also, there is something else that bothered me." he pulled out the stained envelope, and read over the letter once more. "Here, the signature. Look at the subscripted title; Department of Marine Science. Why would he be the one to discover warps... then ask us to go instead of his crew? It's like... he knows what's behind the ports... and wants us to further adventure in, to where he couldn't." He glanced over Angel and Keith, waiting for a theory to work off of.

Keith thought for a moment. "Well, maybe they needed other experts then his crew. Who knows what's beyond the portal?" he shrugged, "You can't go on an expedition like this without varying people. In fact, my friend once played some RPG where you were on an expedition, and they had a journalist, a geologist, a pilot, a PI who knew how to operate a radio, an ex soldier who knew how to live in winter conditions... I think that was it..."

Angel pondered it over for a few seconds, then said, "Well, I guess if this would really be an adventure, they have to have people with all types of experience. I mean, who knows what we might find if we go down a portal and get transported into a whole new dimension?" Then a new ship slowly came into the harbor, newer than most ships present. On its side, it was painted in blue letters, S. S. CORENTINE. She then stayed calm, yet her pulse was much faster than before. "Well, the ship will take some time before we can come aboard," she said. "What time will others arrive?"

Nell had always loved the sea- in fact that was one of the reasons she had responded to the letter she'd received in the mail a couple of weeks back. The sea here was a startling azure blue, unlike any colour she had ever seen before and she spied a large and very impressive looking ship anchored in the sheltered harbour, with the name "SS Corentine" lettered on the hull. Naturally the left side of the boardwalk and the town that lay behind were invisible to her, but she could see two people; a teenage girl in a lab coat and a tall man wearing an eyepatch. She could detect three voices though, so she guessed there must be a third person. She strode along the boardwalk, digging the brown envelope she'd been sent out of her pocket.
"Hi, I'm Nell Valentine!" she introduced herself when she finally reached the group. "I'm guessing you're all passengers on the Corentine, too? Mind telling me your names?"

I'm guessing you're all passengers on the Corentine, too? Mind telling me your names?" Always wanting to be the most courteous, Angel said, "Yes, we're all passengers on the S. S. Corentine as well. I'm Angel Aquino, and these are Howl Ingmune and Keith Ridgwell. I'm a student of the College of Forensic Science, Keith is a freelance journalist and Mr. Ingmune is a...." she paused, trying to remember the numerous degrees that he mentioned.

Naturally, his voice was kept sharp. "As far as you need to know, I'm a prosecutor. Many post-masters and Ph.D. degrees in the sense, but none that are important as we stand." He looked over to see the S.S. Corentine, classy for his taste. He figured maybe this wouldn't be so bad. "Now that you've established our presence of interest, do you mind seraxing us in yours?" Howl said, more of ordering than asking.

Seeing Keith write down something in her notebook, she was reminded about her own list of profiles, and immediately snapped a shot of Nell, printed it out and stuck it onto her profiles notebook. "I'll wait until she says more until I write in her description," she said to herself.

I've been away for far too long.

Howl noticed that the two Scripters began writing notes down. Curious as he is, he looked over Angel's shoulder. He saw the Title of 'Profiles' on one page. Is she keeping closed tabs on everyone? Maybe... there's something more than just passengers on this cruise... He quetioned, "Why are you creating profiles? Are you afraid you might forget what someone looks like?" He laughed a bit, but resided for an answer.

Angel, hearing Howl ask about her list of profiles, responded, saying, "Well, I'm a forensic scientist, so one reason is that if ever there's a suspicious event, we might know who did it by figuring out if any of the people would have a motive to commit such an event, for example a murder. Also I'd know a person's strengths and weaknesses in a specific situation."

I've been away for far too long.

Nell smiled at Angel.
"You guessed right, I'm also a scientist- a nuclear physicist, to be precise. While you're doing strengths and weaknesses... you should probably know that I'm blind in my left eye-and I make fantastic pancakes!" She was pleased to see that none of the company gave her the pitying stares she was used to getting whenever she mentioned her disability. Next, she turned to Howl and asked confusedly "You're a prosecutor, aren't you? Why would they send a lawyer on a scientific expedition?"

Angel, remembering their earlier conversation, said, "Well, you never know what you can find beyond a portal, so I guess the people who planned this expedition made sure to prepare for any situation." Then she laughed a bit, jotted down Nell's description and said, "Well, you wouldn't mind giving us samples of your pancakes onboard, would you, Miss Nell?" never wanting to offend one because of his or her disabilties. "And since you told us that, I'll give a piece of information in exchange. In Grade 1, I accidentally swallowed a one-peso coin."she said, twiddling her fingers while still smiling gleefully.

She seems a really sweet kid.... thought Nell, as she listened to Angel's account of her coin-swallowing activities.
"I can beat that!" she grinned. "I once swallowed a quarter- but that wasn't exactly by accident. My colleagues at my old lab were into drinking games after work...and I suppose you could say one thing kind of led to another." Her attention was momentarily distracted by the envelope she still held in her hand.
"Do you know any other details about the portal other than what it says in the letter, Angel?" she asked, frowning. "It all seems a little...vague."

Angel laughed at the remark, but when the subject of the real purpose of this expedition was brought up, however, she became serious. "I doubt any of us know more information than what is at hand, but if it's a portal through time and space, then a good guess is that it would either make us travel back or forth in time or even go to a whole new dimension. Then she stared at the ship and said, "So, will we go aboard?"

Angel walked as well, presenting her ticket to the man by the boarding plank. She thought, "After two long years, I finlly get to go back to the Philippines. Even if I can't go to Manila, at least I'll be in my homeland." Then she took a picture of the ship and went on deck.
