Phoenix was stumbling over the name Melissa Edgeworth. His first thought was that it was his friends sister, but he'd known Miles his whole life. That was highly unlikely. The other option was that she was his wife, which was just silly. It must have been a coincidence. "Yeah. We did." Nick nodded after giving the detective a blank stare for about ten seconds. |

"Very well," Draco said, wrighting both their names down in his notebook. He noted the confused look on Mr. Wright's face when he said Melissa Edgeworth. Perhaps he'd get a reaction if he told him she was his proclaimed wife. "Could you tell me what you saw when you found Mr. Edgeworth and his wife?" |

Nick's left eye twitched. "Do what now?" |

Hm...surprized. Why would he be? Draco thought. "Mr. Wright, are you not aware that your friend, Miles Edgeworth is married to Mrs. Melissa Park Edgeworth?" This is beginning to get interesting indeed, he thought. "We have files of their wedding certificate, legally signed and dated." Or so Gumshoe says. |

"What?" Nick shook his head. "Why would he go and get married without even telling me?" He opened his eyes and blinked at the detective. "Or even his dad? I mean, that's the kind of thing that would come up on a phone call..." Nick started reasoning the claim in his head. "Well...he is a pretty private person...and I can be sort of embarrassing." His eyes traveled over to the nurse before returning to the detective. "Wait, is she that girl Miles was attacking?" |

So Edgeworth did attack the girl. "Perhaps. I have yet recieved all the details myself. But from what you've just said, I'd assume that's who she is." Things are looking pretty grim for you, Miles Edgeworth. "If you could, please tell me what you say when you entered the house, Mr. Wright." |

"Oh...um..." Phoenix scratched the back of his head. "I think I just said Miles' name a lot. You know, in surprise. Then maybe something about him acting like he'd gone crazy. That was before I knew about the drug stuff though. It just seemed more likely that he'd snapped than him being doped up." |

"Hm? Oh, my apologies, Mr. Wright," Draco said, chuckling slightly. "What I meant to say was what you 'saw', not said. I've been on an 'all nighter' last night." He can't believe he made such a simple slip in the tongue. Val's gonna bug him about that for weeks. "Anyway, tell me what you 'saw' not 'say,' if you will." |

"Oh...uh...well." Nick seriously considered lying to help Miles, but he was just so bad at it that it would be pretty obvious he was hiding something. He took a breath and just let it out. "When Shelbie and I walked in he was standing over that girl. She looked pretty banged up and he looked really pissed off. Then I noticed he was tied to her bed and when I went to untie him he pushed me back. Then he just started going crazy on me. Mia came in after that and he yelled something to her about me working with that girl and then he pulled the brass off the bed and slammed against the wall. I went to help him, but he pointed the metal at me like he was gonna stab me or something. Then Mia told me to get the girls outside, so I did, then I went back, but he was unconscious, so I helped Mia take him outside." |

Draco wroted every word down grimly. This isn't looking good for Mr. Edgeworth at all. The was only one thing he found strange, and that was how Edgeworth got tied up. "Mr. Wright, thank you for your time. If there is anything else I need from you, I'll be sure to call. If you'll excuse me." He turned to walk out, but then something came to mind. "Mr. Wright, you've mentioned earlier you thought Edgeworth was acting crazy, before you knew about the drug stuff. Tell me, who told you about the drug?" |

So there were drugs in his system at the time, Draco thought. The only question that now remains is, was it 'Mrs. Miles Edgeworth' who drugged him, or did he do it himself? Better have a talk with this woman to find out anything. "You have been very helpful Mr. Wright. Thank you, once again." Gumshoe said Melissa was in police custody, more than likely for protection. He better head down to the precint to have a talk with her. He brought out his cellphone and dialed Valerie at home. "Val, bad knews....yeah. The investigation will take longer than I thought." He sighed, sullened by the sadness in her voice. "Don't worry, babe. I'll still see you tomorrow in the office. I'll tell you more then." He clicked off the phone and shoved it in his coat pocket. Cranking up the car, he rushed back to the precent to have his chat with "Mrs. Edgeworth". |

Nick still hadn't changed the ringtone yet. He sighed and answered the phone. "M-Mr. Edgeworth!" He exclaimed with wide eyes. "Uh...yeah...we found him.........he's...well he's...here, I'll just let you talk to him." Nick got up and walked to Miles' room where he was currently being told a story by Gumshoe and looking horribly annoyed. "So then I was like 'Listen here, pal! This is a crime scene!" Miles looked up at Nick like he were some sort of savior. "Phoenix, there you are. I need you to run by my apartment and pick up some fresh clothes." "Uh...I have your dad on the phone." Nick informed him. Miles looked as if he were going to be sick. Then held his hand out to take the phone. "Hello, dad." He said dully. "I left it at home." He answered the first question. "I thought I'd take the day off." He answered the second. "I'm very busy right now, can we talk later?" Miles pushed the red button and tossed the phone back to Nick. "Why didn't you tell him what's going on?" Phoenix wondered. "He doesn't need to know. Now could you get my clothes or do I have to give Gumshoe a key to my apartment?" Miles grumbled. "No, I'll do it." Nick walked back into the waiting room. "Oh, hey, Shelbie. If you don't mind, could you get the rest of those papers to Miles? He seems to be a lot better now." Nick said with a sigh and headed out. |

"Detective, could I get a refill on my tea?" Miles asked and waved to the empty cup on the tray. "Sure thing, pal." Gumshoe got up and took the tray out. "To be perfectly honest, Ms Fey, I'm not sure." Miles sighed. "I recall getting a sting on my neck while I walked to the office, then I just get these random flashes of words and visuals until I woke up here." |

"A detective came in to ask me about my office being on fire, and earlier a doctor informed me of the drugs in my system." Miles sunk down on the bed some. "And apparently my father has to keep tabs on me twenty-four seven or else he'll start calling people to hunt me down..." |

Mia tried to keep a straight face, but could help smirking at the image of Gregory monitoring miles' every move. "He was worried, Miles. you always pick up your cell phone. As for the fire, it's believed to be arson, and it was either set by you or the woman that was with you...who claims to be your wife by the way." |

"Bah." Was Miles' only answer to that. "Here's your tea, pal." Gumshoe brought the tray in. The big crooked smile on his face was immediately slapped down with Miles' pillow. He'd winged it at the man when he saw him walk in. |

((I'm wondering if I should join in here or not... There are already two detectives working on the case... A third one may bog it down too much. But you guys know me; I can't possibly be as inept as some of the guys on the force... Anyway, do you care if I join in here somehow? If you don't approve of it, I'll just come in when the next subplot starts or something... Also, so G-man doesn't get on me, I'll edit my post if you decide to let me in. Also, that Draco guy stole my spot! ...I could've joined then, but you said you didn't know if you wanted an OC in there. Okay, here's my profile though... *Begins to walk away with a harrumph* Username: Slezak Name: Jay Slezak Gender: Male Age: ...It's AA timeline, so I'd be about... um... oh, I'll just stick with 21. Occupation: Detective Appearance: Medium-length, curly black hair (that hasn't quite gotten in the way of his eyes yet), hazel-colored eyes, average-height, average-weight, wearing a blue business suit and black tennis shoes that very much resemble dress shoes at a glance. Strapped to his waist is a black case where Jay keeps all his investigation equipment and a few extra items, including a few small notebooks for evidence-logging. Personality: Jay is kind around people he knows and is always willing to make new friends. He's a quite casual guy, not afraid to be humorous, but gets serious when danger is near. Sometimes indecisive, Jay would rather work with a team than take charge of one, even though he'd gladly do it if he needed to. Jay is also a good record-keeper, writing down information about any evidence he finds. History: Jay has had an interesting life. He's been on many adventures and has learned a lot from them. His past is slightly confusing, however. Anyway, he has one brother, Jeremy, currently working as a teacher. Jay has also taken the bar exam and passed, earning his attorney's badge, but decided to go into detective work because he likes scientific investigation, but is willing to pin on his badge if he absolutely needs to. He has not needed to stand in on a case yet, but if he ever does, he'll know exactly how to investigate it. Misc. Facts: Jay is visually-impaired, though you wouldn't know it from how he acts. Is that good enough? I hope you guys see it. If not, I'll just post it later.)) |

Miles glared at her as Phoenix walked in with an armful of randomly selected garments. "You can get your own underwear." He said somewhat grumpily and tossed the clothes onto a nearby chair. "I also raided your basket for cab fair." "Cab fair? Why didn't you just walk?" "Because that would take thirty minutes and it's fifty below out there!" Nick snapped. "Really that's no excuse to-" "THANK YOU NICK! I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKING ME TO THE HOSPITAL, FILLING OUT ALL OF MY MEDICAL FORMS, AND GOING AND GETTING MY THINGS FOR ME!" Nick screamed and stormed out. Miles raised an eyebrow at the scene. |

Miles didn't really know how to respond after hearing that. Him attacking Phoenix was so unfathomable that trying to picture it just made his head hurt more. Phoenix slumped against the wall in the part of the building that wasn't exactly inside or outside. Sort of the hospitals porch. It had a name of some sort, but he couldn't really recall what it was at the moment. |
