Lana was sitting on her couch, her eyes closed, but certainly wasn't asleep. She's not much of the sleeping type. She was thinking. Now, that was something she did do plenty of. About life, and about work, family, or lack thereof, etc. There was a lot to think about nowadays. And there was never lack of company, or drama. Lots of things happen at the Skye's House, mostly unpredictable...

((Because I just love to try and throw my OC's into the canon blender, usually unwittingly breaking the whole thing entirely... I'm gonna join. Note: I won't actually be breaking any blenders, just so you know.))

"Hey, Jeremy?" Detective Jay Slezak asked his brother and partner in anti-crime. They were both dressed in blue casual-formal suits with black cases strapped onto their belts which held all their investigation equipment and a few other necessary items. Jay rubbed his fingers through his medium-length, curly black hair which wasn't quite long enough to get in the way of his hazel-colored eyes.
"What is it, Jay?" Jeremy asked, looking towards him from the other side of their shared office at the criminal affairs building. Jeremy pushed a few strands of nearly-glowing, shoulder-length blonde hair out of the way of his green eyes which were framed by round, decorative glasses.
"I'm kinda bored here and our shift's almost over. Wanna go visit a friend of mine?" Jay suggested, smiling. He always loved to visit people he knew, even if he only knew them a little.
"Sure! Who is this friend you're talking about?" Jeremy asked, getting excited.
The brothers began walking out of the building, and Jay began to explain.
"Her name's Lana Skye. She's the Chief Prosecutor," he stated.
Jeremy had gotten out his notebook and began writing down this information on a new page. He spoke up, "Yeah, I've heard of her... Isn't she kind of... *ahem* cold?" Jeremy asked hesitantly, even though he knew nobody was around to hear except for his brother.
"A little, but she's pretty nice once you get to know her," Jay replied, looking at the old piece of paper on which he had written the address of the Skyes' residence when he first asked the chief about it months ago.
"Well, that coming from you, I'll have to watch myself!" Jeremy joked, elbowing Jay in the side.
"Haha...! Oh, that's our Jeremy!" Jay quipped as they continued to walk.
Eventually, they reached the front steps of the Skyes' house and Jay knocked lightly on the door.

Lana trance was broken as she jerked her head up. It took a second or two to analyze and pinpoint the noise, but by that time, she was already opening the door. "How may I help you?" she remarked. One of them kind of looked familiar, but the other left her blank.

"Good. Oh and by the way, my name's Jeremy Slezak, co-detective. Jay and I are partners in anti-crime, isn't that right?" Jeremy explained, smiling towards his brother.
"I guess you could call us that... or the Dynamic Duo... or whatever, ha..." Jay commented, scratching his head sheepishly, "Anyway, how's life been treatin' ya lately?"
Jeremy was looking around the place and thought to himself, 'Hmm... She seemed a little nervous... Though if it's anything relating to what Jay said about her, I can see why... Not used to friendly greetings, I guess...' "Nice place you have here, Ms. Skye," he finally said.

"We're both doing good!" The brothers exclaimed at the same time. Realizing what they just did, they got a little nervous.
"Sorry about that... it happens sometimes... eheheh..." Jay explained.
"Seriously... I mean, if that didn't convince you we were brothers, I don't know what would... ha..." Jeremy added.
'Dynamic Duo... Crap. Why'd I have to bring that up? I didn't even think about that... Well... The past is the past, but the problem is, it's always there.' Jay thought, staring blankly at a wall.

"Well, we'd like to think we're freelance..." Jay began, pausing. They technically were, being so well-renowned... They had their own office in Criminal Affairs and everything... Jay continued, "But we still work at Criminal Affairs. Though we seem to have a knack for 'taking our own cases' as you might say..." He remembered back to the few cases he'd done with Phoenix... one or two he hadn't asked to do, but nobody complained about those.
"That's correct. And by the way, I just recently became Jay's 'equal'... I'm okay with the term 'assistant', but I don't use it because there really is no 'higher power' telling me wha--Wait... No~!" Jeremy tried to cover his mouth, but was a second too late. The last part was mumbled through his hands. 'Craaaap! Why is it I have a tendency to say the right things, but in the wrong context?' Jeremy tried to fake a cough in that split second. "Ehm, sorry. Anyway, I, uh, used to be a teacher. However, I wasn't having too much luck finding places where my skills were required, so I decided to help out my brother in his work." Jeremy explained, trying to shrug off the slip of the tongue.

It was almost compelling, but the brothers were able to surpress the urge to say 'Thanks' at the same time when they each got their sodas. It was somewhat difficult for them to not do things in unison, and one who looked closely could tell.
"Thank you, Ms. Skye," Jeremy said, smiling as he took the soda.
"Indeed. Thanks," Jay said when he had gotten his. "School, huh? I hope she's acing those science tests!" Jay remarked, giving a hint to Jeremy.
"Oh! So she's interested in science, eh?" Jeremy asked.
"Interested? You don't know the half of it," Jay replied.

((Okay, pretend what came before the OOC happened just before Ema got home.))

The brothers continued to sip their sodas, idly watching the world (not) pass by. They couldn't really think of much to talk about. They were wracking their brains trying to think of something to bring up. Not wanting to seem too interfering, Jay was afraid of simply asking what Ema had learned in school that day, but he figured he could try. "So, Ema... What kinds of interesting things did you learn in school today?" he asked with a slightly sheepish tone in his voice.
