"Hehehehehe..... I have finally done it." A man said to himself, happy that he eliminated the person who he wanted to. "Now to set him up like the puppet he was." The man said, as he took out 4 pieces of rope and stuck them through the body's hands and feet. He then joined all of the ropes together and hung the body from the ceiling ((with the assistance of the ladder)).

A boy with slightly long, brown hair, a blue jacket, yellow eyes, black pants, blue shoes, a yellow shirt, and blue gloves entered the room with a broken puppet. "Hello?" The boy asked. "Someone's here. Quick! I must leave." The man ran out the back door with the ladder he had used before.

"Mira? Are you here?" The boy walked further into the room. "Well... I guess I could..." The man entered through the front door, as the boy discovered Mira's dead body hanging from the ceiling. A suicide? That's not like Mira. This is a murder! But the boy's deduction was too late. "What have you done!?" The man said, carrying a large puppet on his back this time. "Now I can't get Maihime repaired!" The boy tried to look for a way out, but he couldn't see anyway out.

The man took out his cell phone and dialed 911. "Hello? Yes, there has been a murder. I have the culprit cornered. Come get him!" The man gave 911 the address of the room, then the police came in and looked at the hanging body. "It looks like a suicide. I guess we will have to investigate. Where the hell is our detective?" The policeman asked, looking around. "Jeff! Send that boy to holding while we investigate!" Another policeman acknowledged the command. "Yes sir!" Jeff said, sending the boy to the police car and bring him to the holding cell.

((I'll give it a try))

Halo Redfearn yawned as he approached the murder scene. Not because he was bored, mind you, but because he'd just been woken up. Half-lidded hazel eyes scanned the room, and it's occupants. "Clearly not a suicide...hmmm..." He went over to one of the policemen and the man who'd supposedly found the body.

After taking a quick swig from the flask at his hip, Halo presented his badge. "Halo Redfearn, police detective." His appearance was not what many would expect of a police detective, thought. Halo was a slender and handsome young man, with long brown hair and eyes that seemed perpetually half-shut, making him look bored or lazy. In reality, he was neither of those, his sleepy appearance actually being the result of narcolepsy.

"Good, you're just in time. We've got our suspect in holding right now. He was found right next to the body. We believe that he murdered the victim. You may want to talk to that one guy...." The policeman said, looking around. "He's gone! Oh well. Let us know when you are done with looking at the body."

((I can do that)).

The boy took out a small phone book and called a legal office using his one phone call. "Hello...? My name is David Devries.... Yes.... I'm in holding.... The investigation is still going on. I'm pretty sure that they will suspect me in the end... Yes. No, I went in there to ask the victim to repair my puppet. I've been framed, but I don't know how I can do that.... Right.... Well I can't say for sure if he did it or not. Either way, I couldn't see his face. All I could see was a guy with a big puppet on his back. Alright. Yeah, I can afford the payment. Ok. I'll see one of your lawyers in court." David hung up and went back to his cell.

Tom Stevens hung up the phone in his office as he went to the small desk where another person at his office worked at, Haley Ferron. "Haley, get down to the detention center, you have yourself a client," Tom told her.

"Really? Why aren't you taking care of it?" Haley asked.

"I'm going to be busy with another case that will be happening in a week, so go down there now. Your client will be waiting there," Tom said as Haley nodded, got her car keys and purse and started to leave, getting into her car and driving off to the detention center. As she got there she went down to the main cell that was used for questioning, hoping her client would be there.

"Let me go get your client." The guard said, as he walked over to David's holding cell. "Your lawyer wants to talk to you." The guard told David, as he got up to the cell door, and the guard unlocked it, allowing David to exit the cell and to enter the questioning room. "Are you my lawyer for this case?" David asked Haley.

"Yeah, my name is Haley Ferron. I'm not the best lawyer... I just sorta really started... but I'm gonna do my best job I can! So... I guess just tell me the stuff you saw, what happened, you know, all that..." Haley said.

((Also, if you look into my story thread and my sprites thread, it shows Haley and explains her, and how old is David?))

((David is about 12 years old)).

"Well the puppet my father gave me broke, so I went to the victim's shop to ask him to repair the puppet for me. He wasn't in the front of the shop, so I walked into the back to see if he was there. He was, but I saw him dead. From what I observed, and from what I know about the victim, it wasn't a suicide. Then a man with a giant puppet came in and thought I murdered the victim. He called the police, then they sent me here while waiting for the detective. The wait things are looking right now, I don't think we will win this case."

"Seems like you got set up... I'm really sorry... and from what you've told me the evidence stacks against you. But I promise that I'll do my best to see you free. Anything you can tell me about the man, or anything you can say that would give you an alibi?" Haley asked.

"Hmmm..." Already, Halo was suspicious. Why would the man who made the call suddenly disappear like this?

The detective quickly turned his attention to the murder scene, looking over the victim. *Too elaborate to be a suicide...and one wouldn't die simply from being hung by limbs...better look for any injuries or blood spatter...*

"My alibi only makes me look more guilty. My gloves only make things worse." David said, looking at his gloves. "If we can obtain an autopsy report, we might win this case."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The only signs of blood exist on his hands and feet, and the only injuries that appear to exist are the ropes going through the body's hands and feet.
"What about a motive? What motive would you have to kill the person? I mean, without a motive, there would be no point for the murder..." Haley said, seeming rather nervous evening when questioning her client.
"You have a point there. Why would I want to kill the one who could repair my puppet? I'm not really good with wood-working. But still, the prosecutor may bring up the point of serial killers and try to accuse me of being a serial killer. They need motives to kill, and that's what bothers me. I can only hope that the witness was the culprit."
"The witness... that's probably true, since he did accuse you immediately... but we don't have evidence of his guilt..." Haley said, sighing, obviously already under pressure before getting in court.
"If we are lucky, the prosecution would ask the witness about his relationship with the victim. If that's the case, then we might have a better chance of winning this case. That, and the way the victim was hung up somewhat aligning with the fact that the witness carried a large puppet on his back."
"That's going be a problem, but we can hope, can we? Besides, it's about the skill, not always the law. You may want to attempt to track down the witness before we go to court." David suggested with hope in his voice.
"You may want to look within the puppet-user community. You may also want to look within the puppet-design community. Either way, that has to be a custom puppet. Search for people with custom puppets and you may find the man."
"Well there is that guy who lives in that castle.... Maybe he would know to contact the community." David suggested, not knowing who lived there and his relation to the case. That's a good point, he's pretty well known in the community.
Haley nodded a bit, "Is that the murder scene? If so, they're probably investigating over there... and I don't want to get in trouble by investigating too much," she said.
"No, I never entered the castle. I went into the victim's shop. He said that he wanted his puppet needed to be repaired, but I don't think that's why he was there. Come to think of it, I am certain that man tried to frame me."
"If we have to question the guy in the castle, we could. The police are too busy with the murder scene to be bothered when you ask the man about the puppet community. Then again, he may have no info to give us." David said, as he scratched his head.
Noah sat in his office, drinking a cup of Dippin Doughnuts coffee as he checked his email. Most of it was junk and newsletters from various coffee companies, but something important finally came up: he had one new message in his "Work Related" folder. He opened it up and it said, of course, he was prosecuting this case. He printed out directions to the scene, sighed, and walked out to his car.
As he arrived on the scene, he looked over things from his car. Nice little place. He got out and walked to the scene. A body hung from the ceiling. "...Huh. Wonder if that's the vic." He said to himself.
Halo looked at the ropes going through the victim's hands and feet. "So far, it looks like the victim died of blood loss, don't see any other injuries. But we'll need an autopsy to be sure..." He turned his attention to the prosecutor "Ah, hello there. I'm Halo Redfearn, police detective." He offered his hand. "I'm the one they call the 'Dreaming Detective'"
Noah looked over at the detective. "Ah, hi, Noah von Karma, I'm the prosecutor for this case." He shook his hand. "They call me The Other Beanfreak." He looked at the body. "So, looks like the puppeteer strikes... Again, or is this the first time? It didn't say." He looked over his sheet. "...Yeah, this isn't serial. Still, this is so elaborate. That usually just mean the killer has time and a grudge."
David asked the guard to write the directions to the crime scene. "Let's see....." The guard said, thinking for a moment, trying to figure out how to get to the crime scene from the detention center. "I got it." The guard started writing down the directions and gave the card to Haley. "Here it is."
