"Just hit?" One of the guys asked. "We are a unit that specializes in using the enemy's attack against them. We haven't really had a need for hand-to-hand offensive techniques. We got our weapons for that."

"Just hit," Seth replied, smiling. He knew they thought it would be an easy task. Especially with their weapons. "With anything."

Two of the guys used their staffs to sweep Seth's legs. A third guy attacked Seth's head with a staff. The leader used a rope around the waist. Perfect unity, but will it do?

No. Seth jumped high over the staffs, avoiding being hit, then, he realized a rope was around his waist. He smiled. "That's right. Work together," he said as he rolled hard in an attempt to knock the leader over.

The other guys used their staffs to slam the rope into the ground, preventing it from moving. "So now you are restrained. What can you do now?" The leader asked, as the other guys poked their staffs into the ground, pinning the ground as it where a stake holding down the ropes of a tent.

Seth smiled. "Excellent. Restricting your opponenents movements so you can beat them easier. Smart," he replied, not moving. It was as if he was waiting for them to try to attack again. Seth didn't even try to remove the staffs or anything.

"At this point, we'd move in for the kill, however, you are an ally, so we won't go any further." The leader said, not bothering to free Seth. "This is why we are a valued squad here. We normally assist other squads in their operations that require extra defense."

"I don't want you to think of me as an ally for this exercise," Seth said. "You still have thirty seconds on the clock. Finish what you start." He knew how to escape quickly and easily. If they refused, he'd have to pretend to attack.

((Bugged? I thought Mira was the one to did the bugging. Anyways, I have something planned. If you want to take part in this RP to see what happens, go ahead)).

"Thinking is just a thought. Even if we don't think of you as an ally, you still are. We aren't going in to kill you." The leader said, making sure that the team kept it's position. "In a competitive sparring match, we would have won, seeing as you cannot attack at this point."

"One of the most common mistakes people like you make is thinking your opponent is done when they're FAR FROM IT!!!" Seth said. Just then, he whirled around in a circle on the ground, kicking the closest staff to him into his hands. Then, he did a very small flip with that staff out, knocking the next one into his other hand. Next, he used both staffs to pull himself higher and did a flurry of spins and flips very rapidly. When he landed he had all the staffs. ((Don't ask me how.)) Any attacks launched were repelled. ((If there were any.)) Seth stood there, then threw the staffs to their rightful owners.

The leader pulled back on the rope, causing Seth to spin around, forcing him to reverse his spins. Once the leader had pulled back completely, two of the guys hit Seth's head with their staffs. The other two guys poked their staffs in the ground, pinning the rope along with them. "You forgot the rope." The leader said, after the team redid their restraint on Seth.

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"Good TRY!!!" Seth scramed. He wasn't the one in the rope. Seth was replaced by a decoy. Now, he was behind the leader himself. "But you would be a dead man about now. Lucky you, I'm not fighting back. And I didn't forget about the rope. Toodles!" Seth ran to the edge of the building for kicks ready to avoid any blows since he couldn't see anyway.

"Guys, don't forget to scan for decoys when we try this tactic, ok?" The leader said to his men. They nodded in acknowledgment and withdrew their weapons. The leader drew back his rope and put it away.

Seth heard them withdraw their weapons. What are they going to do now? he thought. Seth got onto the narrow ledge, balancing and even walking on it. He wasn't in a hurry. [i]I'll give them props for being so tough. None of my other students have managed to come so close before lessons.

They all pulled out their guns. Two of them scanned for any replications of Seth, and if they found one, they'd point their guns in it's direction. Otherwise, they'd all point their guns toward the Seth on the edge. "This is how we deal with long-ranged targets. Even if you have a gun, there's 5 of us you'd need to shot in less then a second. In a team like ours, you'd be shot several times before you can shot 2 or more targets. If one of us were to get shot, two of us can heal the injured teammate while the rest of us shoot the enemy."

"Very good. Never rely on one weapon. Use eachother to attack and make sure you hit the target," Seth said. "See ya." He jumped off the building. ((Short post))

The team withdrew their weapons. Then the leader sighed. "What should we do now?" He asked the team. "We should probably check up on Mira's operation." One of the guys suggested. "Agreed. We should check up on Mira." And with that, the team made their way to the hidden lab.

"Howdy doodles," Seth said, appearing right in front of them. "Too bad your minute was up back there. And you guys came so close. Better than most guys and groups do." He pretended not to have overheard them talking about Mira's operation. Seth was sure he could've easily interfered at the very least, but he wanted to know what they were doing with the body first. Maybe he would come to find there was a good reason they were doing this and he should butt out.

The leader briefly scanned Seth for his true intentions. "When did our minute run out?" The leader asked, pretending not to know what Seth overheard. He sent the data to his teammates, along with a command to keep this knowledge quiet.

"Before I jumped, but only an instant before-hand," Seth replied. He wasn't blind-folded anymore. Seth could swear he heard a command to keep information quiet, but he didn't show it or care, for that matter. He knew he would find out eventually, so he might as well enjoy his time here...again. "I wouldn't leave the arena without the time expiring."

"But before you jumped, we put you in the position of death. How did we not pass?" The leader asked, pretending to care. he other guys appeared to be interested as well.

"Didn't you remember the conditions? They were that you hit me. Since you didn't, you didn't pass. And as for the position of death? You clearly underestimate me. I have certain abilities that you guys don't know of. For example, using spirit energy. I'm certain once you master that, there'll be no stopping you. Until then, I suggest you accept my offer to train you," Seth answered.

"Rope counts as weapon. I hit you." The leader said, pretending to be stubborn.

((Short post)).

"Tsk, tsk. The rope only wrapped around me. That doesn't quite count as a hit. Had you slammed me around with it, that would've counted," Seth said. This guy is trying to distract me on this trifling little matter. Maybe he's afraid I'll try to learn more about Mira's operation. Smart and effective. He'd be a good student, he thought.

"That rope could not have 'hit' you, but would still be capable of killing you. You value your airway, don't you?" The leader asked, trying to prove a point he didn't really care much about. "Because I could of easily used the rope to strangle you."

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"Yeah, well you didn't. You wrapped it around my waist. That hardly could kill me. And I easily could've held on to all four staffs and finished you all. So? You don't pass on what you could've done. By the way, you are a great actor. I almost believe you care," Seth replied.

The leader ignored the acting comment. "If I intended to kill you, I would have tied it in a way that would allow me to slice you in half. If you don't die from the slice, you'll die from bleeding." He said, as he tied his rope with the knot he was referring to.

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"You clearly underestimate me. Had you tied it in such a way, I never would've let myself get wrapped up in it in the first place. I would've jumped even higher so the most you could do was chop off my foot. And besides, whether you intended to kill me or not doesn't have any relevence now. It's too late for that," Seth argued. This guy is getting better at his acting already.

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"Bleed to death." The leader simply stated. "Besides, in a fake battle between allies, that kind of info is very relevant. In fact, we had to conduct a few science experiments just to prove our points in our arguments about the battle."

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

He makes a good point, but... "The fact is, you didn't want to kill me. That sort of thing would've affected the outcome of the battle. Since the fight is over, there isn't any relevence because again it's something that could've happened. Not what did happen. And I could cure myself before I would've bled to death. In that event, you would've won. Since that wasn't the case, it doesn't count as an attack."

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"We don't kill allies. Because of that, we use such hypothetical situations to decide who wins in a sparring match." The leader said, as the group started talking all at once about previous sparring matches. "Did we ever resolve that one?" One of the guys asked, referring to a previous match.

"Hypothetically, I could've killed you before you guys even moved. I don't use that rule because if we talk about all the things that could've happened, we'd be here all day. That sort of thing doesn't bode well with me, so I don't care about what could have happened when I decide if you pass or not. I use what actually happened. It saves time," Seth said.

"But with ease comes sacrifice." The leader said. "In this case, we gain things like patience and opportunities to practice research skills, along with other skills practiced during the research process. It also allows us to practice our debate skills for when we are sent to court in the name of a client."

"Yeah, and fighting teaches you things as well. Like how to think on your feet and work together. It also gives you the opportunity to test your projects. Anyway, it doesn't really matter now. My methods are my methods. Not someone else's. Simplicity may come with sacrifice, but it has advantages, too," Seth said.

"You can't learn or do anything when you are dead." The leader said. "By the way, it's research that teaches you to work together, not fighting. In fact, fighting can make things worse when dealing with a team. It's better to take the long way if you intend to get some experience from things."

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"Oh..so sorry. I'll just change my ways which have kept me alive up to this point. If I spent all my time with 'research' and doing things 'the long way' I wouldn't have been able to face all those men by myself after all the others died. I am certain you five would've killed me because you are more skilled than one hundred men," Seth said sarcastically. "But everyone has their methods, I guess. So, what now? Do you want me to tell you the thousands of ways I could've killed you in that minute?"

Author:  some_person [ Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:20 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

"We go by things like 'I hit you there, meaning that you would have died' or 'no, I blocked and could of easily snapped you neck' and whatnot." The leader clarified, but then noted Seth's remark on their research. "With research, comes skills. Didn't I say that already?" The leader asked, certain that he did so. Then a guy with a package delivery came up to the roof. "Package delivery for..... I. C. Wiener? Oh crud." The package delivery guy said, as he gave it to the leader and just walked away. The group started laughing. "That one never gets old." The leader said, as he put a hand on the weakest part of the package. "But only because he keeps falling for it." The leader ripped the top off. He looked inside and recognized the stuff inside as Mira's. On top of the stuff, there was a note that said "I got you from the grave :D Report to the courtroom at 0900 for your hearing. Failure to do so will result in severe consequences. P.S. Bring the package, we will deal with two things in one trial. I take it Seth is with you at the time the package was delivered?"

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

Seth raised an eyebrow in interest of the package, but decided against asking what was in it. He didn't want to pry and be nosy. If it concerned him, they would most likely tell him. "With research comes skill...and training also gives you that. Maybe not in the same way or the same skills, but...I trained for hours on end to get where I am. Maybe research would've sped up the process, maybe not. It doesn't matter because I can't change the past."

Post subject:  Re: Mira's Funeral (Anyone Can Join)

No one said a word. They stared at the note on top of the contents of the package. A remark explaining their research process was idle (as in one could read it if one were to look in the leader's mind), but did not come out. Other then that, their attention was focused on the note that Mira wrote. They couldn't even mention Seth.
