Vincent listens to the ongoing discussion about all this. He seems to be thinking very carefully. What they were saying and the crime scene... Wait, the crime scene... The musician hold an hand up to get their attention.

"If I may have an input in this matter." Vincent calmly said. "It's true that Robin did delay my investigation on whenever she's good or bad. I was going on the assumption that she might be innocent, but because she delayed my investigation results, so I didn't know and just said that she was innocent... Meaning that I didn't have my investigation results yet... So, I'm not sure if Robin's innocent or not unless I got my investigation results which should give me a more accurate read." Or to be more accurate, Vincent's player didn't read very carefully and done fudged up. Learn to read very carefully, player!

"And for the matter of whenever I'm the Golden Witch.... I'm not. Look at the bodies, doesn't they tell us something? If I was the Golden Witch and Robin did delay my action, then wouldn't Archer be alive right now, doomed to die tonight?" Vincent asked the others.

"Besides, think about how Allister was attacked by Asher's corpse in the story. If I get lynched and if Robin was telling the truth about delaying my action... Then it's very likely that Robin will get attacked by my corpse tonight." He shrugs. "I mean, we don't know if that will happen, since Robin delayed me with that dream of hers."

Basil frowned and picked up the spellbook again now that the magic symbol had been located.

"According to this, symbol...four people will die with the possibility of more if people are brought to it." he read around from the book.

"Perhaps this means that, Vincent's power was blocked or delayed or whatever, but another Witch brought a victim before the magic circle, fulfilling their optional condition for more kills? This would explain how Archer still died."

He turned the book over to anyone who cared to look at it themselves.

"So accounting whoever killed Twilip, it's possible we might have had 6 bodies on our hands this morning." he said feeling somewhat faint at the possibility.

"If...the power is indeed only delayed, I think we need to kill Vincent now on the off-chance that it prevents four of us from disappearing the next night. I assume he is still needed to finish whatever macabre mechanisms he put into work last night. Maybe if we kill him now, whatever ritual he has planned will falter." He tensed his fist in anger "Some of us might still die, but in the story the witches' spells weakened over time. If we can keep more of us alive, that means more powers and opportunities to investigate?" He suggested looking to the others for support.

"But if we kill Vincent, the second-in-command will probably carry out the rest of the action themselves, along with whatever kills will be made next," Zachary noted, "Mama was very clear in her warning to us about that. Still, I - Robin would be able to confirm the details of her power better than my guesswork."

Robin looked around at everyone solemnly. "To clear this up... Whatever I delayed last night will happen tonight, exactly how it would have gone last night if I had done nothing. Whoever Vincent would have killed last night will die tonight instead. If there's anything anyone could do to stop it, they would have had to do it last night. Nothing will change their fate now.

"Which means... If Vincent is the leader of the witches, then his victims from last night are going to die tonight, no matter what we do to him." She looked miserable as she quietly added, "Some of us standing here... are probably already dead."

Asher let out an annoyed groan and glared over to James and Mickey.

"Unless you two have anything of importance to add, zip it," he snapped. "Or else I'll shove this cane so far up your tight asses that it'll pop up out of your mouth."

With that being said, he sighed and leaned back against a wall.

"In any case, I agree with most of the others. Lynch Vincent. But before that, let's see if we can figure anything else out first."

"Well, we can try and discuss more in general before moving on. We have time. Like the missing keys on Archer's keyrings -- one going to Uncle Bertie and Aunt Jackie's room, and two more which go to guest bedrooms. It's curious that those specifically are missing. Could a witch have stolen them for some reason? Likewise, he didn't have any external injuries, so it was likely that he was killed by magic. At least, I think. There's also the fact that the rune was found in Aunt Twilip's room... I just wonder why there of all places. Unless, of course, she's a witch. Well... WAS a witch, I suppose I should say. Perhaps Archer visited her and ended up being the only one to die due to a trap being in place or something? Kind of a shot in the dark, but whatever. Also, she was definitely killed physically, judging by her injuries. Pretty recently too, because the blood is still fresh."

"Another reason we need to off Vincent now . . . " Zachary scratched his chin as he continued to think aloud, "I dunno who here believes in fate, but the best way I can think to describe my dear's ability claim is that she can't change fate; merely delay it for a bit. That means if Mickey really did do something to keep me alive, then that'll carry through to next twilight's actions. I hope that's the truth, 'cause I don't . . . I don't wanna die, nor do I want my dear Robin to die . . . nor any of my family, though it seems the witches already got to some of them." He looked pensively at 'Vincent.' "I . . . I don't know how many times I can believe that at the end of this it'll turn out to be another story or something."

"How about this? Someone murdered Twilip, perhaps thinking she was a witch. Then later a witch, possibly Vincent, took Archer's keys and used one to get into Twilip's room, where they painted the circle. They might have chosen the room because they knew it had been, well, recently vacated," Bertram suggested. "In the story the first circle was painted in the cellar, so I don't think the circle being in Twilip's room means much."

"I'm thinking that Twilip was murdered after Archer," Asher replied. "Her wounds are really fresh, and the blood is still wet. Granted, I could be wrong, but... yeah."

He let out a small sigh as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Solving a murder mystery sure isn't easy work, that's for damn sure..."

"Honestly not sure we can make any big progress right now. We still have very little information," Uncle Billy said, "Might be better just go ahead if most everyone in agreement. I even thinking about voting myself."

He trailed off. His face contorted in deep contemplation.

“Yes, I think I follow lead,” Uncle Billy said.

He turned to Vincent.

“I really am sorry, Vinny. It nothing personal. Just that you are evil witch and you murder me in story. You seem like nice person, and I wish family the best!”

Uncle Billy strikes a cool pose and instantly votes for Vincent.

Allister eventually let go of Briggs, and looked around at the others.

"Just like in the story, I-I'd like to place my vote for Sir Vincent as well." He said, breaking his long silence.

[THEME MUSIC]

A door slams closed upstairs.

Bertram appears at the top of the staircase with a determined stride. He holds in his hands the revolver.

At this point almost everyone has surrounded Vincent, barring any attempt that he might make to escape.

He looks around furiously, profusely denying his involvement with any witchcraft. No matter how much he protests, pretty much everyone is completely unified in their stance against him.

"Dammit, Robin! You fudged up my investigation results as a result of you delaying my action! Now all of you think I'm a witch!" Vincent growls at Robin. "Don't be mad at me if you suddenly get attacked by my corpse tonight, then you'll know that my action was indeed delayed and I was being a idiot with helping you guys find the witches."

Realizing that he has no hope to live, Vincent fishes in his pocket for his picture of his family, not the one that's trying to kill him. It's too late though, someone grabs his hands and ties them up.

The family closes on Vincent and picks him up above. He thrashes and squirms, and so not everyone wishes to get involved, but they get over to the side door of the mansion. Bertram opens it up.

They toss him out into the rain and darkness of dawn. Briggs watches, not having helped, but he is honestly quite handsome.

Bertram takes a steady aim and fires twice.

He then closes the door.

Through the crack in the door, they can briefly see the blood washing from the holes in his chest.

Vincent Moonview is no more.

The family is left to ponder their actions and think through their next steps.

Seeing Vincent thrash and squirm, cursing everyone and trying to get free seemed to have triggered something in Asher. He looked away and didn't help anymore, and once the bullets were fired, he jumped twice -- one for each bang.

"... I guess this is what we are now," he murmured to himself. "Putting down other people like they're fucking rabid dogs... Even if it's to save others... ugh..."

He hobbled over to a bathroom, looking quite ill. It was pretty evident that he was going to vomit.

Robin watched Asher go with a look of sympathy before she felt her own legs turn to jelly. She grabbed the arm of the nearest person (who she expected to be Zach) to support herself. Though not as much as Asher, Robin was looking pretty pale, too.

Peace and calm. Peace and calm.

Her eyes scanned her surroundings before they settled on Bertram. "Thank... thank you, for being the one to-... I couldn't have..." She looked down. "I - I basically killed him, and you're the one who... had to do it."

She gulped. "I meant what I said. Earlier. Everyone, if - if I was right about Vincent, then... we might have a lot more deaths tonight." Robin tried to look around at the group, but she couldn't quite bring herself to look anyone in the eye. "Please... Don't let your time go to waste."

Briggs gave everyone a suspicious glare. It looked like he wanted to berate them once more, but after the sight of Vincent's death, he refrained. His glare soon softened as he turned to Allister.

"Alright, kid, don't be scared," Briggs smiled, trying to comfort the boy who was probably pretty scared. "I'll watch over you tonight."

He turned to the others. "...Well, a part of me hopes Miss Robin is wrong. I wouldn't want to wake up and see five or six of you dead as a doorknob. As terrible as you all are."

Briggs inserted a cigarette into his mouth, crossing his arms. "Please do not disturb Allister tonight. Should you need anything...try something new and get it yourself."

After a slight bow, he led the way to the servant's quarters.

It's a good thing Zach decided not to help 'deal with' Vincent as he felt a tug on his arm.

"O-Oh, it's you, dear." Zach made to surround her and keep her steady.

"I don't plan to, love. I . . . really hope Mickey made the right call, and that we both - no, more than that; many of us - are still here after the next twilight," Zachary pleaded. He made his way over to the guitar case Vincent left behind that was still totally there, helping Robin along in case she still needed the support, and deftly picked up the case, guitar and all. He'd start making his way back to his room - he didn't think he needed Vincent's permission anymore; that guitar would get to its rightful owners. Zach would make sure of it . . . somehow.

As Zach made his way over to the guitar, Robin gave him a reassuring pat on his shoulder - I'm okay - and let him go. She felt about ready to turn in for the night, but first, there was one thing she wanted to do. Just in case she wouldn't get a chance later.

It didn't take long to find the person she was looking for, thankfully. She made her way over to him.

"Um. Basil, I..." Her eyes were already starting to water. "I, um..."

She threw her arms around Basil in a bear hug.

"Thank you," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "For getting my message to Zach. I can't - even begin to tell you how much that meant to me."

Maurice simply sighed, looking unimpressed. "Well, I'm glad we decided to get rid of him in the end, at least. He was rather dead-weight. In any case, I shall see you all tomorrow. I'm expecting a much higher body count soon... Stay on guard." With those words, he departed quietly to his room.

Basil watched Asher hobble off, concern evident on his face. He had just taken one step to go see that he was alright when his sister-in-law Robin grabbed him and pulled him into a hug.

UkuleleLady wrote:

She threw her arms around Basil in a bear hug.

"Thank you," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "For getting my message to Zach. I can't - even begin to tell you how much that meant to me."

Basil squirmed briefly, astonished by the younger woman's strength before eventually giving in and managing to place his arms around Robin under her vice-like grip.

"I-its fine Robin. The story seems so real, I'm not sure what is true anymore." he patted her back gently "I...I had an opportunity and I just wanted to bring some form of peace to you the only way I could." It occurred to Basil that the faint memories occurring to him were not recorded in the storybook, but he decided it would result in madness to try and comprehend that further. "And about Vincent, don't feel bad. You were trying to protect your family as well as you could, we all committed to this but it's definitely not easy. I don't know what if I could have done it if it was a member of my close family." his face twisted in sympathy and sadness.

"For now you should...you should go spend time with Zach. If your dream is true then tomorrow is going...well..." he swallowed hard, his face pale at the thought. "It's not going to be a good day. We should all enjoy our time with those closest to us." his eyes drifted over Robin's head to Wyn and Violet, and the rapidly-departing Asher.

Uncle Billy has gone along with the execution but now seemed in a bit of a funk. It was as if some of his spark had been plucked out of him when the gunshot rang out.

“This is big tragedy, but it has to happen. Keep telling yourselves that, rather it true or not. Only way to stay sane.”

Uncle Billy trudged up the stairs. Once at the top, he turned and spoke broadly.

“Everybody should be very careful tonight,” he added, “Vinny keeps threatening his corpse come to life. Obviously this must be plan made with witches beforehand. Have them resurrect his body if he executed.”

Uncle Billy leaned over the railing, staring at all the Moonview family members. He was probably trying to get in one last look at all of them before it was too late.

“Next few hours gonna suck butt...” he mumbled morosely.

Robin released Basil and took a step back, taking a moment to wipe her eyes. "I... I know. I'm just - a little shaken up, I guess." She offered him a weak smile. "I'll be okay."

"I will." Robin's eyes followed Basil's gaze for a moment. "I should go. Um." She looked at him one more time, conflicted about something. But after a moment, she shook her head, said a quick goodbye, and left.

On her way back to her room, Robin couldn't suppress a shudder at Billy's warning. Vincent might retaliate tonight. The rest of the witches might retaliate tonight. This may well be her last night on Earth.

Better make it count.

"Well, I hope Bill and Robin enjoy their added share of the inheritance. Good night, I have some business to take care of..." said James before leaving the family.

When James arrived back at his room, he went over to his desk, grabbed some paper and a pen and began to write what appeared to be a business plan. However, while he was writing he muttered some things to himself, "the next Rockefeller, huh?"

Violet looks conflicted, looking out of a window, clearly attempting to take her mind off what just happened. "Maybe it did have to happen."

She exchanges a single worried look at Asher, then signs and continues looking outside.
