They disappear so much I feel there should be a mythological figure responsible for them in some charming little folk tale.

That was shortlived...
I no longer have my position of training to be a legal assistant. I got declined of even signing the contract which I was finally given a few hours ago. I have to say, I'm rather surprised, disappointed and somewhat angry about that. After taking so long to finally decide on a trainee to hire, they took me and now decide to not take me.

Apparently the other lawyers and secretary were against my working there long-term.
The way I understood it during the talk, they complained to my supervisor that I was not working up to speed, made mistakes and even seemed incapable of retaining information they had already told me. Also a complaint about my clothes came...

It's quite obvious I'll make mistakes. I made mistakes yesterday and the day before, I freely admit that. But I am absolutely new to the concept of working in an office, as well as working full-time and what exactly all gets done and how and when and where in a law office, no matter how small it is.
And during my interview and the day when I worked there as a test to see if I could handle the work load, I told the supervisor that I am the type to rather ask one too many times, rather than do something on my own after it's been explained once or even twice and run the risk of making a huge mistake.

As for the mistakes I've made, I always tried and made sure to correct them as fast as I could. Yesterday, I made a mistake of putting a call through to a lawyer, after informing him about the call, while he was in a meeting with a different client.
Alright, that happened and I didn't know he was in a meeting at that point.
It happened again today, although that meeting ran longer than it was originally supposed to. Again, I didn't know that the client of the meeting was still there. The next client was already waiting in the waiting room, after all.

Apparently a complaint was about my... "semi-reclusive nature"?
I know very well that I am not the most social person in a place, probably more the opposite, but I try really hard at work to be social, to be kind and friendly and helpful. It's hard for me, because I'm not very good at social things, but I still try.
I just don't get it.
I try to be social and it fails. I try to be myself, still doing my work, and I still fail. Was it because I complained a few times under my breath about the phone ringing every two or three minutes, while I'm trying to type out letters that I am being dictated to via a tape? That's alright to complain about, I can't be the only person who gets annoyed at constant phone ringing and phone calls when I'm trying to do some other work.

Another mention was about my clothes that I wore to work for the second or maybe third day in a row. Apparently it was mentioned that they have a slight "smell" to them... and that is something they apparently complained about. In an office where the lawyers smoke in their rooms freely. Where the files smell of cigarette smoke. The air is thick with the lingering smell on the furniture of cigarette smoke... You people have the gall to complain about a little "human body odour" from worn clothes when your whole office is thick with cigarette smoke residue?! Are you on crack!? I made clear that I get a headache from the smell of smoke, but I told them I am absolutely willing to work in a place that smells like that, simply because it's part of the job then.
And another thing.
I was told that as long as my clothes were clean and presentable, that'd be fine. I don't have to dress up to go to work. And I am not the type who wears a different outfit every single day, I am not going to go through seven outfits a week. Those clothes were still clean, presentable, there were no stains or anything on it. It smelled a bit like the office and maybe some residue from my deodorant, but it did not smell so badly that it would offend anyone.

This just sucks... I was so relieved and excited to get a training position just before the school term started.
What does this mean, being incapable of holding down a job for less than a week or two at most?

Ok, I'm rather confused now. What kind of system is this? You need to demonstrate practical expertise before you are allowed to learn theoretical knowledge? It shouldn't be the other way around? And c'mon, you just can't put someone in a office and wait for them to be fully integrated with the place before at least one, two weeks, it's just a tyrannical demand. They didn't give you the reasonable time to someone show their full working potential.
Don't let it bring you down. What are you career plans? Do you suffer family pressures to make money as quickly as possible? I have friends who are called bums just because they chose to live a long academic life before entering the job market. If you are studying or doing some kind of intellectual effort, you should focus on it at the moment. The job comes later.

XP That's a real shame Cat I too know the pains of being a bit introverted trying to break into a new office.

Though I'd really have tried to change my clothes every day for a new job XP at least until it's cemented. Even if it doesn't stink compared to cigarette smoke it looks bad for your personal hygiene.

Does Germany not have some laws against smoking inside? The concept seems so alien to me since we banned smoking in public places and offices a fair while ago.

Well, it's a bit common - at least the way I learned it - to come in for at least one day or two of working in a place, to see if the one wanting the job is up to handle the work, knows what s/he is doing somewhat and if the co-worker stuff works, too. And I think it's a good thing, give the person a taste of what they're going to deal with.

Thing is, I know I can handle what they were giving to me, even if I feel like complaining about the phone or the fact that the tapes keep jumping at times, making the type-work a bit more difficult than it should be. But as you said, and I said, I am new to this whole thing, so I did expect them to cut me some slack.

As for plans, well, none really... my mother is constantly telling me to get a job, although she's been saying that for the past 3-5 years. It only came up again because this thing fell through. We were both happy that I got that place...

And Pierre, in Germany, people are not allowed to smoke in certain public areas anymore. Not in restaurants, pubs, etc. If they want to smoke, they have to go outside. Most offices or homes, though, get probably counted as personal areas so they are pretty lax in that part... although by law, every worker is allowed to demand a smoke-free work place.

I see. So this whole "mother situation" affects your career and life choices somehow? I think your mom's not really helping you there, although her intentions seems good. I mean, you're carrying the responsibility to satisfy her expectations. It's not easy - if you loose a job, you should be sad about you because it's something that happened in your life. It's your moment. We know, it's good to have a mother looking after you, but not in a point that she's emotionally dependant on your success.
Besides, you're only 23, right? You have so many options in life. Surely there must be something you love to do or is interested.

I really freaking want JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.
Having just finished the recent anime series and plans to read the manga, the idea of a JoJo's fighting game sounds awesome!

I don't think I'd ever be able to handle working at a place that constantly smelled like cigarette smoke. You've certainly got more willpower than I do, Cat. If you don't mind me asking, though, if you had been accepted there, do you think you would have been able to tolerate it? Judging by what you posted, that particular office doesn't come off as a nice place to work at.

I like law... I like working in an office. That combination didn't seem to work there. I'm looking for other secretarial work in offices now, mostly part-time so I gain more than 400€ a month and get a bit of an easier start into the working force.

I have a high tolerance for work stuff... since it's my job, I'm generally expected to tolerate some things. And I was sitting next to a window. So while it could get cold, I did get closer to fresh air if the smoke smell was too much for me. As for tolerating it, had I been taken? I'm sure I could have. Overall, the training would've taken 2 years and I could've taken that. I don't know if they would've taken me over as a full-time worker after the training.

By the way, it's nice to sleep again.
For some reason, I have this condition that, if I have my alarm turned on to get up at a certain time the next day, I sleep terribly and keep waking up. I got to sleep as much as I want today, so despite going to bed early (for me) at 11 PM, I slept pretty much until 9 AM... except getting up at 3 AM when the cats needed dry food that I hadn't filled up for the night.

JoJo's fighting games look tricky because of that whole 'Stand' Business where you need to always control another thing all the time!

But hey it looks bizarre and fun and...the art style is so weird it's kinda appealing :garyuu:

Not all the JoJo characters have Stands though, and you aren't really controlling them since they more or less are your special moves and they change when you have them out or tucked away. And there are characters who ride horses and use a power called the Ripple. Course those guys are overshadowed by the awesome stand users.

Ugh... my stomach feels like it's burning. I had a fruit juice mixed with a little coconut syrup and a little bit of whiskey in it, which tasted nice and all. I ate some nachos afterwards because my stomach felt empty, despite having had supper a while ago. Now it just burns... maybe I should have some warm (chocolate) milk to settle my stomach?

This is kind of a random thing but also a GS Connection.
In Sims 3 Island Paradise, I just saw a guy labelled "Jack Hammer" run past the house... which is weird since I have an overriding mod that changes all names to Japanese/Asian/Taiwanese kind...

Well, like I said, it was on a custom world I downloaded. Which, actually, is built as a resort paradise, so any kind of community lot that isn't a restaurant, I have to build myself... and lack of space causes me to only have a 3-in-1 City Hall, Military Base and Police Department on the map... so yeah, no film set. XD

I was sorting through my documents folder on my laptop and found some old chatlogs. There's one from January 2011 that has DoMaya, DeMat and I discussing the hilarity on the backup forums hahahaha aah good times good times.

I'm sending off for my provisional this week, and I've decided what car I'm getting. A Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.0 80 PS Start/Stop 5 speed and I don't know what any of that means but apparently it's good. Oh and I want it in Magenta. Will hopefully have it before May 2014 if all goes well.

If I was still obsessed with Edgey, that would have been the reason I want it in magenta XD but I just want an uncommon colour because I know I'll be terrible in car parks and will forget where I parked!

My mom called me around 5 PM, saying she'd be late because she has to meet up with a customer to give him vouchers. It's now past midnight and I haven't heard anything from her yet, not even an answer to my SMS which I sent around about an hour ago.

It could be that she simply went out to drink and ended up eating out as well. But I can't help but worry a bit, mostly because she would've given me an answer by now or just a message. It's likely she'll appear around 1 AM, but I can't help but worry... wondering if I should call her cell...

Edit
Okay I got an answer to my original message. I quote: "Fine, the."
...it could be her auto-correct fucking around or she's a bit drunk. As long as I know she hasn't been, like, robbed or raped, okay. I'll stay up a bit later. Maybe she'll come in before I go to bed or not. I'll just keylock the door.

School just started 2 weeks ago, and I've been kinda, sorta, behind and that doesn't look like a good omen for the rest of the year...But hey, If I graduate, I can get BS or BA in something and then go to Law-School. So that's something to look forward too...
Anyway, wish me luck, guys!

Kind of a Rhythm Game. With a little visual novel interaction. I don't know the second game's story, but overall the player takes over the role of a producer for one idol or a total of three, helps them become famous and all that. Kind of a little bit of a Raising Sim game, as you up their parameters for Singing, Dancing and overall Visual appearance.

Definitely for fans who enjoy the Hastune Miku games and rhythm games or just really enjoy music in games.

Although to be honest, I have a blood disorder which has the result that I am simply not allowed to donate organs because it would endanger anyone who may get them. So, even if I wanted to donate or sell my organs, I'm just not allowed to. Well, stuff like my cornea can be given but still.

I don't know the English way of saying it, but I basically have an inherited disposition to throwing clots. It's not like I clot all the time, I'm not on heparin permanently, but I just have a risk of getting them. More than the next person, I guess.

Nice to see some good news for a change. Now if only the Yankees could be kept out of the postseason entirely...

Oh snap, I'm exactly the opposite. (As in, I don't grow clots very quickly so I tend to bleed longer than average) Sympathize nonetheless.
