"Couldn't it still be that the victim was trying to... get rid of the accomplice afterwards? Leaving the dumbbells on the stair would ensure it would break when someone stepped on it, and apparently hitting the fuse box didn't affect the toaster trap at all..."

"With Jay we assumed it was because if they killed him then they couldn't blame it on Alchie anymore. But everyone remember: the sound of wood breaking was at 3 am. The lights went out at 3 am. Karega was just leaving the gym at 3 am. Everyone's alibis state what they were doing around about 3 am."

Flo rubbed at her temples.

"I can only think of two things for the time thing. 1) No one was in the basement when the fusebox broke and Karega somehow set it up to break automatically. 2) The person Subaru saw limping at 3:05 am was the one who did it. They broke the stair and damaged their foot, hence the limp. Then they maybe used the dumbbell to break the fusebox?"

"It's true that the step could break if you left a weight below 80 kgs on it long enough... but just so you know, 20 kgs wouldn't be enough to break it, no matter how long you waited!" Monomi said.
