"You better not burn that bamboo around here-- or anywhere!" shouted Monokuma, in alarm more than anything.
"I-I wasn't talking about burning it here, obviously!" said Akio defensively. "But what about the incinerator in the garbage disposal?"
Monokuma sighed. "No, that wouldn't work either-- see, the bamboo is treated with a polymer-based lacquer. To see why... we need to do... science stuff."
He took out a pair of lab goggles-- from where, you don't ask-- and put them on, along with an unflattering lab coat. "Well, Akio, since you volunteered..."
"Uh..." said Akio. "Do I get any protective gear or anything?"
"Sorry! I don't have any your size!" Monokuma said innocently, hopping down from his podium and shoving Akio towards an unoccupied corner of the room. Monokuma takes out a remote and, after looking at it for a moment, presses a button, and a clear hollow plastic tube, opened at the bottom, descends from the ceiling. He presses another button, and air is sucked into the tube, going into the ceiling, then beyond your sight.
"Akio! If you would do the honors!" Monokuma shouted over the makeshift fume hood.
"I-I'm gonna be okay, right?" Akio's concern was plain on his face.
"Yeah!! probably..." Monokuma said.
Akio took out his lighter and lit the end of the bamboo chute-- immediately something was wrong. The smoke coming off the flame was a sickly yellow, and the soot that came off the bamboo-- well, it wasn't even properly soot. Rather than small particles, the soot coming off of the bamboo was in long, stringy bits of burned stuff that was sucked up into the fume hood, along with the noxious yellow smoke.
The smell was acrid-- even with the fume hood, the students nearer the burning bamboo could not ignore the terrible smell. Akio's eyes were watering. It looked as if he was about to object before Monokuma sprayed both the bamboo chute and Akio with a fire extinguisher-- the white powder clung to Akio even as he hurled the bamboo chute away.
He coughed a few times, then muttered "I guess that's karma..."
Monokuma explained as Akio re-took his podium. "See-- the stringy soot from the bamboo chute would plug up the exhaust in the incinerator. It wouldn't be able to maintain operation as the exhaust was plugged. It'd eventually shut down on its own, and it'd be a fine mess to clean up after that..." he shuddered. "I wouldn't even want the Hockey Puck to have to deal with that... Oh wait, yes I would!"

She sighed. "So we know for a fact there is a missing bamboo chute. It could not have been burned, hence it must still exist in some form. Yet we were unable to locate it during our investigations... meaning it is in a place that was not thoroughly searched. I am uncertain if it could be concealed on someone's person, but I will consent to a search to show I am not carrying it."
After a moment, she added, "I do wonder if any of the second floor rooms are relevant to this trial. We did not investigate those, correct? And Lord S' door was ajar for a time... Lord Taira stated he filled the balloon situated over it with pool water, yes? And that water smelled of cleaning chemicals..." She turned her eyes to Lyla. "Lady Everell, I do not mean to accuse you of anything, but for the sake of the trial, I feel we should make absolutely sure of everything we have assumed thus far. Would you consent to being checked for a cleaning chemical smell?"

Monokuma cleared his throat. "The padding on the door is on the end opposite the hinges-- meaning the part of the door that's swingy. Without the padding there, there would be a gap between the end of the door and the door frame. The padding is there so that there's no direct contact between the door and the frame, so it can absorb sounds and such from adjacent rooms."

Casey yells, jumps in the air, and throws her fist in the air, landing back on her feet with a thud. She paces around with her arms outstretched like a wrestler just getting done with a particularly painful blow. Her wicked smile at her victory, whatever it is, shows that she's as confident as can be, and that she's soaking up the moment.
