"So then, Laurent Sharpe went through the number [6] door? Are you saying that either Ant, Vii, or Persephone is Laurent Sharpe?"

"Well it's not me and Persephone doesn't look like a 'Laurent.'"

Vii threw a glance in Ant's direction as he entered the pantry to grab a couple of the gross rations for later. "How about it?"

"What.... Are you saying that SSF did those kind of experiments?!" D stammered, shocked by what she was hearing from Queen. "Oh my God... That's why she have been telling me to not come near SSF. I can see why she did that; she was trying to protect me."

"Oh yeah. I forgot. The 'she' that I'm talking about is actually my twin sister. I'm the youngest of the twins, as you didn't already notice." D explained herself to the others.

"So, where were we?"

Right now, this is, at least it looks like, an SSF experiment. In the past, SSF has done these types of experiments, capturing unwilling subjects, and submitting them to torture and threat of death in order to awaken, well, a potential I guess you could say. I've assumed since the beginning that this is an experiment of that kind. We're probably supposed to be getting powers from this or something. Though, that might not be true if Laurent Sharpe is indeed among us.

Bishop rubbed the back of his head.

"Well, I might as well come clean now and say that I had no idea who Laurent Sharpe was. Ant accidentally revealed his first name to us in Door [6] so I took a gamble once the name Sharpe came up. I already had a feeling that I couldn't trust this guy so when the SSF information came up it uh...made sense."

"All right, Ant. I think you can see where our suspicions are all looking to. Sure, it could be a coincidence that you share the first name with some deranged madman, but then again, maybe it's not. But that's not the important part. First thing's first. What do you know about this Nonary Game?"

"Yeah-- Sharpe Security is, at least on paper, a Tech manufacturer. You probably have some of their stuff in your apartment without even knowing it. They make components for TVs, phones, smart appliances, even military hardware." Dry's voice darkened. "But recently, SSF been under suspicion for kidnapping and performing weird experiments on their kidnap victims, as D alluded to. It's clear, now, that our connections to Sharpe Security is the reason that we're here."

Dry's eyes widened and shot to the older man. "Well hello, Mister Sharpe. It's a pleasure to finally meet you..." Dry said between gritted teeth. "Well, Ant, you're certainly under the magnifying glass now. I would start talking quickly. What's all this about?"

"Hmph. I will, of course, deny all these accusations. Laurent I may be, but Sharpe I am not." Ant said darkly, wondering who'd set him up. "Well, regardless, you're free to think what you like, but I can guarantee one thing. I am not the one responsible for trapping us all here. (I'm still super proud of the "Ant under the magnifying glass" line above)

"Jack Skellington himself said so-- 'May the guilty be punished'. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he was referring to the man behind Sharpe Security Forces." said Dry. "Under the circumstances, I'm not so sure you wouldn't deserve it."

Dry turned to address Bishop, Vii and Persephone. "Well? Is it true that Ant only revealed his first name to you all in Room [6]? Because if Ant only revealed his first name, then there's at least one other person who knows more about this than they're letting on."

Hmm, well I was about to say that Laurent's not a common first name, but looks like it was just a coincidence.

I guess that doesn't really rule out that this is an SSF experiment though. Clearly, at the very fact that information on SSF was in the safe and came up so many times already, looks like it sits somewhere at the middle of this mystery.

Anyway, it's best to behave ourselves here, no use in thinly-veiled antagonism.

Queen's eyes go wide, and she smiles. She doesn't speak, but waits in earnest after Dry says this, clearly intrigued about what he has to say.

"Heh... hahaha! Ah, but of course, yes, I can't 'guarantee' it in any satisfactory way, else I, nay, anyone innocent here, would have already done so." That's what I do too. Every time I hear two names, I just slap them together and pretend they're a person I've heard of before.

Queen rolls her eyes, clearly a little fed up with Bishop.

I'm not going to ask you to divulge everything you know, but just understand that there's no use trying to hide your hand with that flimsy of a cover-up. We're all obviously hiding something.

"So you'd have us believe," said Dry, incredulously, "that you only knew Ant's first name, and when I mentioned 'Sharpe', clearly a last name, you put them together... by chance? So which is it? That Ant's right, and you completely made up the name 'Laurent Sharpe' out of whole cloth, or... is it that Ant really is Laurent Sharpe, the mysterious CEO of Sharpe Security?"

Dry paused for a moment. "Because it strains my bullshit meter waaaaaaaaaaaaaay past the breaking point to believe that both are true. I don't have any decisive evidence against it, but the odds are far too long to take seriously as a possibility. And I already know which direction I'm leaning."

Dry turned to Queen. "Bishop is right about one thing, though-- other than him, you're the only one who's given any indication of knowing anything specific about 'Laurent Sharpe'. Given that Sharpe Security seems to be the one thing connecting us all, and the reason that we're here, would you mind telling us what you know? Can you at least confirm that SSF's CEO is named 'Laurent Sharpe'?"

Well, I can't tell the story of how I got to know this because I don't want to incriminate someone I... admire, especially while there's no way out of this game, and we don't know who exactly is watching, but I can confirm that Laurent Sharpe is CEO of SSF. I don't know who he is. I know nothing more than his name and what his company does.

As for that, I know a little more than what I said. They do experiments on people called Espers. Those are people with some innate psychic power. Espers vary greatly in what they can do. Some people are called Espers based on the vague expectation that they might become one. Games designed pretty similarly to this one were designed to bring out those powers. Those powers then supposed to be used on the battlefield. That sort of explains this uncomfortable atmosphere doesn't it? I have no idea how many successful and powerful Espers have been created by this process, and I never told anyone for fear of, well, this happening.

For the record I'm one of those "vaguely Esper-like" people. The same kind of people that SSF would prey on.

Is that enough info for now, at least? That's everything I know about SSF as a company on the whole.

D thought about something for an moment, then she turns toward Queen.

"Are you saying that this Sharpe dude tortured a bunch of people because he thought it would give them psychic abilities?" Neo paused for a moment. "What kind of hogwash is that? This isn't some fantasy world where people can just rise from the dead and shoot fire. We're humans, not angels or demons or even gods. This guy's gotta be crazy if he thinks he can just torture people into gaining some supernatural abilities."
Taking a moment to breath, he turned to Bishop. "Should I assume that your statement implies that you know Laurent Sharpe's face or build?"

Well, I think that's the idea, yeah. The extreme stresses and conditions are supposed to make people better Espers, but...

Again I don't know if SSF got any good results from any of its experiments.

I know I never got anything at least, and I don't feel like I'm about to get any right now.

He turned to face everyone, "But there's one thing I'd like you all to keep in mind. It isn't likely that Sharpe Security Forces set up this Nonary Game. Is this really a death game designed to judge the guilty? I've been thinking about that...

Let me ask a question here, to you.

Do you feel guilty, and if so, who would find what you've done to be a sin? SSF? Countless Esper captives? Some other person?

I feel like my answer to this question won't match yours, and yours probably won't match Laurent Sharpe's and so on, assuming he's here.

She glances to Ant and back to Dry.

Honestly speaking, I think the best way for you to defuse the situation is for you to talk--explain your side of the story. "We all have a relation to the SSF somehow, haven't we? I thought it would be the best to let as little people know about my real story as possible, but if Mr Sharpe was one of us... Well, that would turn the situation on its head for me. To make that clear, I'm not willing to hurt anyone without knowing for sure that he's the person I'm searching for. However... (This is a nudge for everyone to get their votes and actions in. Remember I'll only.accept your first answer and it must be sent in the GM QT. I'll close phase change at 6pm GMT which gives you little over an hour)

You thought you could be safe in your courts, with your laws and attorneys to protect you. In this world only I am law, my word is fact, my power is absolute.

Penta's outburst made Ant smile. "Well, that puts me at ease. Perhaps now I can talk... at least a little."

He then sighed, and reached into his pocket, underneath the dressing gown. "You know, we may have gotten off to a bad start, Bishop, but our situations are similar." He pulled out his hand, revealing a small ring - a wedding ring. "Hmm, how do I say it..." He paused for a few moments, clearly troubled. "Let's just say I am just as invested as most people here in SSF and what they've done." With a final dark look to one side, he slipped the ring back. "Is that sufficient?"

A siren blares throughout the building as the JUDGE'S voice calls out

"PLEASE RETURN TO THE MAIN PRISON FLOOR. A VERDICT HAS BEEN REACHED"

Scrambling to get in position every one assembled in the main prison floor. Sharing nervous glances as they look up at the monitor.

Verdict:
Guilty = Ant 3 votes
Dry = 1 vote
Persephone = 1 vote
Bishop = 2

Innocent =
Queen 2 Votes
Penta = 1
Vii= 1
Persephone= 1
Bishop= 1
Ant= 1

Punished : Ant
Mercy : Queen

There is a collective sigh of relief from those who escaped judgement. Taking stock of each other...you all notice that Ant appears to be handcuffed

(Technical difficulties so next phase isn't officially started yet. Feel free to post and maybe use that sword key but I'll announce when its ready)
