Briggs tilted his head. "...You used your power...on Violet? But doesn't Sir Archer's action require him to visit two people and swap them? Who exactly did you swap?"

"I... Don't know for sure. I assume either Archer or I was swapped with... I guess Basil now? I figured one of us was on the witching block and decided to take a chance."

"I will consider it fortunate that we are still here, at the very least." Then, turning to Briggs, "Who did you take from this time? Perhaps you chased Allister around the mansion in a game of tag?"

"...Oh, uh..."

Briggs rubbed his head, blushing slightly and turning away. "I stole from you, Sir Archer. I...apologize. Your skills were quite valuable, and I thought they might go for you next."

"...Unfortunately, I couldn't help myself to some of your belongings," Briggs sighed, fishing something out of his pocket. It was a folded piece of paper. He discreetly handed it to Archer. "I apologize for, uh...not controlling myself."

Allister is relieved to see both Archer and Briggs are alive and well. Seeing Briggs return the piece of paper to Archer causes the boy to raise an eyebrow, but he otherwise doesn't question it.

"The butter knife in Sir William's chest... Does that mean Sir Asher is alive?" He asks. "Or did someone else kill him and plant that there...?"

"Good lord... Poor Basil", Maurice said, flinching at the sight of the bodies. "There goes the only person able to verify my movements..."

As Twilip and Archer had their conversation, he raised an eyebrow. "I think... You two might have managed to save my life somehow with all that. You see, I had planned to visit Basil tonight, actually. But the fact that I'm still alive seems to indicate that your swapping made me visit one of you instead. So... Thank you for that, at least." He bowed.

"As for the bodies... It does seem likely that Asher is still alive, but we'll have to take a closer look. Odd that he kept targeting the hippie though." He went over to the bodies to investigate.

Violet rolls onto her back, groaning. She sits up, holding a hand to her forehead. "What the hell happened...?"

"This is a fine mess we're in," Bertram grumbled, trying not to look at Basil's gruesome corpse. "I'll go look for the circle, though it should just be one of those crosses."

Looking around, Violet's gaze stumbles upon her dad's dead body. She stands up and, while slightly shaking, takes a closer look. Her expression morphs into sadness for a bit, before looking away and sighing.

"This will never get old, will it..." She then shakes her head, "I visited Archer. That's all I've done."

"Zilly..." Wyn mumbles, a solemn look on her face. "I hope we can see you again..."

"I poked around Mickey's quarters last night, and what he told us was true. Each night he can visit one or two people. If he visits someone, that person does not die that night." Wyn explains. "That of course is all the information I could gather in one night."

Maurice checks the two bodies in the room. While he does so, he notices the magic circle on top of the piano, depicting a red cross.

Billy's got a look of shock in his eyes, showing that he was attacked unexpectedly. He doesn't have the usually string weed smell, meaning he probably didn't smoke anything recently. The butter knife is the one from the dining room.

Basil has some hand marks on him from being dragged around. Other than that, he doesn't have much of note for now.

"This lends a lot of credulence to Mickey's claims about what happened in the third twilight of the first cycle," Bertram said, nodding to Wyn's results. "Of course, that also means we are still in the dark as to what killed both him and Lucine that time."

"I see... At least you actually gave it back..."

Then, turning to Allister, he nods. "Surely, that must be what happened. It'd be a sick joke otherwise, though the butterknife in itself is a sick joke..."

"Good lord! You're still alive!" Maurice almost fell back seeing Violet rise. "...Well, at least you're alright. You truly have no recollection of what happened, though? It's strange that you ended up here like this..."

He continued his investigation and then reported his findings to the others. "Based on this information, I can conclude that what the boy butler has said is correct. It's incredibly likely that Asher was responsible for the hippie's death... why he targeted him again is beyond me, but he certainly needs to be behind this. This leaves Basil as the only one killed by the witches, which lines up with the type of circle used. That said, with all this swapping around going around here, it seems that whoever visited and killed him was actually planning to kill Twilip in reality. Somehow I lucked out perfectly by visiting Basil here."

"That is all I have to report", he sighed. "I'm not sure if we'll be able to force Asher out of hiding, but that leaves me rather uncertain on how to proceed. I feel as though voting for somebody with a relatively useless ability will benefit us. Of course, I am a prime candidate of that, but in my defense, my ability can help make sense of things. Such as my even being here adding up with the swapping mishaps. It can help make sense of things that way. So somebody like Violet would be ideal for that. Or Twilip's attempted murder was by the Golden Witch, who wanted to throw us off the trail. This is in case Twilip was the last witch in the story, which seems likely... But if she isn't, then it would simply be a loss of a helpful ability. In any case, that is all I have to add on this matter. Any further suggestions?"

"I feel as though basing our decision solely on who is 'useless' will only cause issues. We cannot be certain that those with an ability that is not worthwhile is a witch, and every mortal we kill brings us further away from our chance at victory."

"If Sir Asher is alive, we should await his return before hastily voting for someone. Who knows what sort of info he might have?"

Almost as if on cue, there was a knock on the door. Another knock. A third one.

“Do me a favor and don’t attack me. I’m coming in,” a familiar voice called out from behind it. After a few moments passed to let everyone prepare themselves, the knob turned and the door creaked open. Stepping through the door was a clearly familiar face—dark, stormy gray eyes, a head of slick black hair, a permanently stoic expression—it was Asher. Though he did look a bit different: his clothes and hair were both messed up and nowhere near as organized as they looked before, his skin looked more pale than it usually was, his eyes were somewhat bloodshot, and some dark red blotches that looked like blood were on his face, having not washed off fully.

“... I look and feel like shit, but... here I am. I’m still alive.”

"GOOD LORD!" If Maurice was surprised when Violet regained consciousness, this really threw him off. "You too?! What on earth, man?! What is going on?!" He exclaimed indignantly. "Explain yourself this instant! You faked your death the first night, yes? And you killed the hippie here, didn't you? Anything else to add to the list that we should be aware of?"

"Another of Basil's children escapes death, I see," Bertram said drily. "If only we could all be so lucky.

"I must ask, why go for Billy a second time?" he then said, quickly getting down to business.

“Yeah, me too, Uncle Maurice. Surprise. Guess us siblings both have the ability to look dead,” Asher dryly remarked. “In any case... yeah. I killed Billy because, in my eyes, he was rather suspicious. His ability to block people from doing their actions would be quite useful for the witches. Was my intuition wrong? Probably. But I made my choice. It wasn’t easy or fun... but I did what I had to.”

He sighed and limped through the room, using his cane to steady himself.

“In any case, the other side is... coping. Archer, Lucine said that... she was sorry. For not being able to protect you due to having passed on. And also... James had a theory that I’ll tell you all about once I go over what everyone did on each night.”

Not wanting to write this all out in-character, Asher decided to streamline it.

Robin, First Twilight: Delayed Zach.
James, First Twilight: Poisoned Zach.
Lucine, First Twilight: Investigated Basil.
Jackie, First Twilight: Watched Lucine; Lucine was visited by Billy and Mickey.
Billy, Third Twilight: Visited Allister.
Basil, Third Twilight: Watched Twilip; she visited Archer and then Basil.
Mickey, Second Twilight: Visited Basil (or at least claimed he did so in thread before dying).

“That’s all I could gleam from everyone. So... yeah. In any case, before I forget, here’s James’s theory,” he began. Since he’s sort of in a hurry, Asher’s writer decided to basically copy and paste it.

“He said, and I quote, ‘I have a theory that could explain how Vincent can be the head witch and be redirected. What if Billy didn't redirect Vincent's kills but instead only changed who Vincent disguised himself as and Vincent killed his victims disguised as Twilip? That could also explain why Basil could see Vincent's visit because maybe when he visits the person who he's going to disguise himself as, that visit isn't hidden’. Those are James’s words, not mine. In any case... yeah. I’m back. Thank you for the warm welcome, Allister. And Briggs, it’d definitely be best for you to return my stuff. ... You can keep the bodybuilding magazine, though.”

"Protect me...? What is she thinking? I..." Archer hangs his head and attempts to avoid looking at Bertram.

"I'm unsure what to feel about Sir James's theory. I suppose it's possible? I feel as though the real Golden Witch is someone else, however..."

'Jackie, First Twilight: Watched Lucine; Lucine was visited by Billy and Mickey.'

"Lucine was visited by Mickey? That doesn't quite add up," Bertram said. "Perhaps that was who Vincent visited, though.

"As for James's theory, I'm not sure I follow. Billy already confirmed for us that he can specifically redirect the witch kills, unless James thinks Billy was lying about that."

Violet smiles at Asher. She then turns to Maurice, "I don't remember anything. I don't know why I woke up here either, honestly."

Violet scratches her head. "I don't know how much more information we can gleam at this point. Whenever I try to think of theories, it's all just a lot of what-ifs. Who would we even lynch tonight? We're out of sensible choices."

“Considering Madame Twilip’s actions, the one with the killing power could not have been her or myself, depending on who she ended up swapping with, as we would not be able to target ourselves.”

“Because of this, it means that Violet could possible have the witch killing power. Even if she is not a witch, or the one killing, her role gives us no benefit. As such, I will vote for Violet as well.

Twilip glares at Violet. "Violet. I vote for you. With that said I'm gonna see if I can find the corpses of our family." She turns and begins to leave the room to search the mansion for the bodies. "If you think I'm gonna lie about this, you all are welcome to join." That being said, she proceeded on her way.

He looked down and gritted his teeth together, clenching his fist quite tightly and shakily.

Twilip goes outside. She begins walking across the island in the rain.

It's not long before she spots some dark shapes over by the tree line.

It's clear that these three are the other missing corpses, each with their face destroyed.

Lucine, Jackie, and James are there, soaked from the rain.

[THEME MUSIC]

Violet stands in the piano room listlessly, staring with empty eyes at her dead father.

Asher, cleaning off a knife from the kitchen enters the room and clears his throat, the other family members and servants are close behind him.

Violet looks at the knife in his hand and then back up at him. She has no reaction.

"I don't fear the Golden Land, brother. Not anymore."

She closes her eyes. And Asher bites his lip and hands the knife away, not standing to kill his sister.

Twilip takes the knife with a solemn look on her face and walks over to Violet.

A spray of blood appears on the carpet almost instantly. Violet chokes on her next words as her lungs fill with blood.

Twilip backs away, leaving the knife in the corpse. Archer locks the door as they all leave, locking Billy, Violet, and Basil inside.

Once the door to the room was closed, leaving the lifeless corpses of Violet, Billy, and Basil in there, Asher leaned against a wall to prevent himself from falling over and aimlessly stared at his trembling hands. His dark gray eyes looked almost... empty and soulless.

"I... Violet, I'm so sorry... I couldn't save you..." he whispered to himself. "... Couldn't save you, couldn't save Father, couldn't save Mother... g-goddammit..."

After a few moments, despite his almost empty-looking eyes, his face contorted into a scowl, and Asher sniffled and looked up at the others. He clenched his fist tightly until it turned a stark white, and a tear dribbled down his cheek as his expression turned to one of pure anger and hatred.

"... We're going to find these bastards. Every last one of them. I don't care what this family has done -- most of us except a select few are shitty people who have done shitty things and act like spoiled, pompous, arrogant snobs... but no one deserves this. We're going to find the witches -- we'll find them all, and when we do, we're going to make them pay," he hissed, and despite his quivering voice, it was quite evident that he was very, very pissed off.

"Preaching to the choir there, Asher," Bertram replied tiredly. "I've had to sit through my own family dying more than anyone else here. Yet still we carry on, and when we're done the witches will suffer for all they have wrought."
