It seemed for now he was taking Gloria's silence as tacit approval of his presence there. It also seemed he about had his fill of being the center of attention for now. Trying to reduce the awkward atmosphere, he simply took Maurice's seat, asked the servants for a clean plate, and began smearing butter over a roll.

"For once you're the sensible one..." Bertram sighed, sitting back down as well. "Quite right, let's not talk of this any longer." Trying to pay no mind to the dwindling table population, he resumed his meal as well.

"Everyone leaving already?" Billy said, "That is big shame. Was hoping to get to no new family better. I don't want to miss out on food though. Hopefully others still stick around to talk."

Billy downed a spoonful of mashed potatoes morosely.

Shockingly he also had hand-rolled cigarettes of very fine tobacco as well as a marijuana plant. He gave them to Briggs and Uncle Billy, respectively. Were these gifts originally intended for someone else? Or was this fate after all?

"Oh, wow, thank you Mickey dude," Billy replied quietly, taking the marijuana. "This is some good stuff. I already bring some with me, but good to have extra."

Uncle Billy had lost track of the familial dispute though. He looked back and forth before eventually deciding now would be the perfect time to make small talk with Briggs.

"Hey, Bricks! Have you tried this stuff yet?" he shouted, gesturing to the marijuana. "Is much healthier than cigarette and more fun too! Let me know if you want borrow some."

Regardless of his response, he resumed gleefully eating as the chaos unfolded.

"...Is that so?" Briggs said, genuinely curious. "Perhaps once the day dies down. I only ask you get permission from Miss Gloria beforehand on my behalf...otherwise, Sir Archer may take a bow and fire it down my -- er...I mean, he may reprimand me later."

Basil sighed rising from the table he reached out and squeezed Gloria's shoulder "Sorry Mum, I'm just going to go check on my family for now." he put his knife and fork down and moved down the table nodding to Archer on the way "Food was delicious." he muttered in passing as he arrived at the bottom of the table where the others were.

"Hey...you all ok?" he asked lamely resting a hand on Wyn's shoulder and squeezing gently. He looked around the children somewhat at a loss between the people leaving and the tension in the air. "Um...we Moonviews are a lively family huh?" he forced a laugh. "Maybe we'd best give Bertram and his family some room for this?" he suggested tilting his head towards the door.

As Vincent walked through one of the halls of the Moonview Family Manor.

"Some family gathering this was..." Vincent winced as he continues to walks down the hall. "It was supposed to be a normal family gathering... But then when Mickey shown up at dinner, it suddenly got so warped... I wish I haven't told him about the family gathering... But what's done is done, nothing that I could do about it."

"Um, should we start clearing the plates from the empty seats?" He asks, unsure if the guests will return or not.

A few minutes later, she decides that she's had enough, and leaves. Without saying anything. Good manners. She does try to find her brother, though.

Robin found herself too choked up to respond, so she offered Jacqueline a fragile smile instead.

She sniffed and looked down the hall past her. "I'll be okay. You - you can go back to Mickey, if you want. I can't imagine how much you must have missed him."

"Heh. Didn't think I'd be clearing the table again as long as I didn't burn anything down this time." He sheepishly joked as he downed his second glass of wine. He then turned to Bertram. "Wanna know what your gift means? Or do you have an idea?" It seemed to be an earnest question.

Vincent eventually reaches his room. He opened the door, and entered it, with the intention of getting his guitar.

A couple of minutes passed before the musician emerges from the room, holding a acoustic guitar. He heaved a sigh before he went off in search of the room that he always play his guitar in.

Gloria looks over the book from Mickey and smiles, "Why thank you, Sweet! This is such a surprise and a pleasant one at that!" she emphasizes, with full awareness that most of the table left in distress for various reasons.

"It's so nice that you would show up as a fun, uninvited, guest of honor! Please, Bertram, it's great that we get to celebrate with even more of the family together!" she chides.

"Mickey Dearest, please enjoy a meal! We'll have a room prepared for you, and you'll be home for the first time in a long time! Maybe this will give Bertram a chance to show some self-reflection and love."

Basil bowed apologetically to the others "I'll be back later, I'm just going to check my family is alright for now. I'll catch you up for a nightcap soon!" he promised before turning and leaving the dining room with Wyn

"Ah Wynnie...I knew coming back here was a bad idea." he groaned as they walked down the hall. "This place...it's just mired in bad fortune. Of all the nights for Mickey to return...it's already strange enough we are all here together." he paused and looked out the hall window which portrayed a glorious view of the lake surrounding the island, now a turmoil of wind and rain. "This storm...it..." Basil trailed off, brow furrowed in thought and worry.

"Let's leave in the morning please dear? I don't think anything good can come of staying here. I doubt the kids are liking it much either." he pleaded with Wyn.

Once Vincent founds the room that he was looking for; a small sitting room. He took a seat on one of the couches. He places the base of his acoustic guitar on his legs and them he began playing a song. This song was Fragile Feelings, a song that Vincent himself had wrote for one of his albums. However, the way his hands move on the guitar looks like he was playing a rock song... Was Vincent playing a country rock song on his acoustic guitar?

She was silent for a moment, pushing a strand of her long red hair behind her ear. She supposed crying wasn't bad, but she felt so idiotic for doing so in front of everyone. She could have gone to an empty room and cried, but she didn't. She couldn't help but feel disrespectful. "Ah, I apologize. It's hard not to feel pressure when you feel as though you have to be presentable. You understand, right?" Her smile fell into something more solemn. "I do love him. So very much. But I could never speak to Bertie upon the matter. It would start so much chaos and problems. And I'd rather our relationship not be torn apart." She let out a sigh before her smile returned. "I'm sure many people are proud, Robin. Who wouldn't be? You were amazing. And still are!" She laughed happily, her smile widening.

"I've already promised to hear him out... Despite what the others all say, I'm a reasonable man."

"Why, it almost sounds as though you actually bought this with me in mind!" Bertram replied, still not entirely convinced by the various gifts Mickey had brought for the others. "I'll... take care of it," he added carefully, leaning ever so slightly away from the table and trying not to look at the mess Mickey had made.

"How... How have you been holding up? You haven't run out of money yet, I hope!" He seemed to mean this as an awkward joke, but it was clear by his expression that he also half expected it to be true.

Zachary returned the embrace. He hummed as he considered what they should do next. "How about a short walk 'round the manor? I know pretty much every nook and cranny of this place. When you're finally ready to return to the feast, then - and only then - shall we go."
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.
100% pure Joy.

Watching the chaos unfold, Allister approaches Archer.

"Um, should we start clearing the plates from the empty seats?" He asks, unsure if the guests will return or not.

"...Yes, I suppose." Archer begins to gather up dirty plates from the empty seats. "If they come back we can serve them again."

"Alright." Allister nods, and then begins to help Archer clear the plates.

"Have fun you two," Briggs nodded as he proceeded to whip out one of his new cigs.

Robin looked up at Zachary with a grateful smile. "That sounds perfect!"

And so, hand in hand, they began to take a walk...

Twilip chuckles to herself. "Yes, it is lovely that we all got to celebrate Mickey's return." She turns to Mickey. "Sorry things turned out this way Mick, although perhaps you'll get a chance to dine with all of us tomorrow since most seem to have gone away now." She sits up and pushes in her chair with a sigh.

"Goodnight mother, brother, and the rest. If there is some further incident I will probably be found having a drink in my room." With that she refills her glass with wine, gives her Gloria a pat on the shoulder, and goes to retire for the night.

"How... How have you been holding up? You haven't run out of money yet, I hope!" He seemed to mean this as an awkward joke, but it was clear by his expression that he also half expected it to be true.

"Heh." Bertram's son smiled, recalling the memory. "First thing I did with the money was buy a plane ticket. Then I partied. In two nights, I spent sixty large. Sixty large for a party that rocked the earth." He shook his head. "It was stupid, but it was the best thing to ever happen to me. I was high as shit the last night. So high that I shit myself. And I realized something--I had no idea who I was. All I knew was that I didn't want to live a life where I relied on daddy's money. A life where I didn't suffer. A life where I couldn't call myself a man." He downed the glass of wine.

"Since then, I haven't spent a dime of it. I've lived a simple life, meditating and freeing myself from the ego. Freeing myself from material desire." He looked at Lucine as he said that. As if something was in his head.

He began to laugh again as a servant poured him more wine, as if he thought of something. "Tell me. That guy who just left--James? He the new family leech? I can smell it on him."

"I uh..." Basil blushed as his eyes met. He could never bear to see her upset and that look was torture to him. "...I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. We do have a lovely home here, you...you should still get to have a good time." He tore his eyes away from hers to look out the window again.

"Maybe...maybe..." he mulled it over in his head before turning back to Wyn with a smile. "One more night then. We'll see how I feel then, maybe everyone will get along better after tonight. There's just been a few unexpected surprises that's all." he chuckled nuzzling into Wyn's hair as she took his arm. "Let's go check on the kids then maybe rejoin the family."

"That's right, I knew you'd come to your senses, darling." Wyn says, giving him a quick peck on the forehead. "Yes, let's go and do that. You really ought to stop being such a worry wart, anyways. What's the worst that could happen?"

As Jacqueline walked, she hummed a small sweet tune. Probably from some classical song she heard not too long ago. Anything to fill the empty silence.

Walking back into the dining hall, she smiled at the remaining people, nodding to those who may have walked past her to retire for the night. She noticed how Mickey and Bertram were conversing, which couldn't have made her day more. She smiled brightly, walking over to the two. "I'm so glad that you both seem to be talking normally now." She nodded, gently ruffling Mickey's hair. Motherly instinct, she supposed. "Ah, this is all very nostalgic is it not? We're almost all together like the big family we use to be." She pondered for a while as she smiled.
*coughs awkwardly*

"Mother, he once boiled and ate your prized shrub!" Bertram protested, though as ever he was weak to Gloria.

"Bertram! I cannot believe you are bringing up such a tragic incident in the history of this family! Are you trying to make me sob at my deceased shrub? Because if that is what you are trying to do, it is working. You've done that. My shrub went to the Golden Land, as all blessed beings do!"

"In this family, we look forward to the future. We don't have funerals, we have celebrations! Live in the now, darling!"

Gloria stops Bertram from speaking further. She finishes the single plum on her plate, "Impeccable and marvelous as always Archer!" She dabs at her mouth and re-applies her lipstick.

She does not let the uneasy and rather drab atmosphere get to her mood, "Alright my darlings, I know it's been a long day! I guess we will have to save all the merriment for tomorrow?? I suppose we can't have to stay up aaaaaaaaall night..."

It's only eight thirty. She knows it's only eight thirty.

"Alright beauties! I'll take some time for some light reading before I go to bed!" she brushes the cover of the book with her fingertips, "If anyone wishes to chat, you'll figure out how to find me!"

With that, she leaves.

Outside, the light from the sun disappears all at once as a storm cloud drifts right over the red rays of the setting sun. The island is lit by a flash of lightning from the approaching cloud.

Between the trees around the mansion, the forest becomes dense and dark with the shade. Mickey made it just in time.

Those in their rooms upstairs hear the faint patter of rain outside their bedroom windows. Cold air rushes in through each cracked window, sending a chill throughout the house.

[You may continue to post, but Gloria has now retired]

Maurice had already retired to his room at this point. He couldn't quite go to sleep though. He looked outside his window, seeing the storm unfold outside. Something felt very strange about all this...

Violet makes her way downstairs after a short rest, clearly not quite well rested. She sits down on a sofa, opening a book she'd been carrying with her, opening it at a bookmark and reading it. Perhaps waiting on people. Perhaps not. It is an enigma.

By now, Asher had sat down on a sofa in the lobby and looked out the window, watching as the rain pattered into it and the lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled and shook the manor.

"Damn, it's reeeally coming down hard out there..."

He tightly shut his eyes, trying to forcibly swallow down the bad memories he had regarding storms. His body trembled a bit, but he managed to keep it down, opening his eyes to see his sister sit down on another nearby sofa.

"... Hey, Violet. Eventful dinner tonight, huh?"

Violet raises her glance, closing her book. "Oh, I didn't see you there." She sets it aside on the sofa. "I think eventful is an understatement. Disaster fits more, I'd say. You didn't bring anything to keep yourself occupied, did you?"
