Hurray it's over! And...most of everyone survived!

Well I hope you all enjoyed your time, I knew I couldn't try crafting a mystery as well as JM could manage so I tried to do something a little different. Incorporating puzzles in some form, running another game that could influence this one in a few ways. I apologise for clumsy GMing at times, it was my first time GMing anything and I feel now I was a bit ambitious in my plan but eh, made it in the end.

I'm having players put input into their endings, so they'll be posted here once they are finished along with the Quicktopics. I'll sort any questions anyone has here.

Also if anyone is curious your counterpart Nonary game is here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/641334-z ... d/73382075

Bracelet numbers were randomised so your character might not have the same number as you. However you started the endgame a little before them so please don't nudge them or give them any hints. They are still in the riddle phase right now.

Spoiler: Dry END
Dry strolled up to the small corner cafe, a strange mix of nervous excitement and dread. As he saw the person who had summoned him, an icy feeling enveloped his stomach, not unlike the time he first met her.

"I honestly wasn't sure you'd come, Mark." said Queen. "What with... well, you understand."

"Well your invitation was much nicer this time, Mrs. Demaine." said Mark dryly as he took a seat across from Queen.

"I told you in the game, that it wasn't me." said Queen. "Well, not just me..."

"Yeah I know. I guess it's not soon enough to make jokes." said Mark.

"It isn't. It won't ever be." said a voice behind Mark. Vii offered the cardboard cup to Mark with steam coming out of the top. "No cream, two sugars, right?"

"Daniel..." said Mark. "I guess I should stop trying to figure out how you two know stuff about me."

"It'd be easier." said Queen.

"You know I don't do things easy." said Mark. This brought a rare, seemingly genuine smile from the woman. He continued, "What's matter, Danny, don't trust me alone with your mom?"

"Not really, no." said Vii evenly.

A long moment of silence happened. Mark pretended to take a sip from his coffee, but it was still too hot for him to properly drink.

"So how have you been these last few months, Mark?" asked Queen.

Mark considered how to answer. In the end, he decided to answer honestly. "It's been... tough. I haven't really slept well since... after."

"Because of Aisha?" asked Queen.

"Not... just because of her." said Mark somberly. "Sharpe has been sending people every couple of weeks to turn over my apartment looking for those documents. The transcript and the experiment results. They always do it when I'm at work, and they always try to leave everything like how they found it... but I always find something out of place. Hard to sleep when you're sure you're being watched."

"We know that feeling. Better than you." said Vii. Queen stared at her coffee, a complicated expression on her face.

Another long moment.

"Can I ask you a question, Mark?" asked Queen. "You never revealed your power during the game. Your esper power. Why did you choose not to? Don't you think it would've been easier if you had?"

Mark sighed. "So you know that, too. Honestly, I wasn't sure how it would be taken. If I'd have revealed that I was a Receiver, people might have stopped communicating. Would've nullified my power. But... I wonder if I'm not just rationalizing my decisions. Maybe I'm just a coward in the end. Can't help but wonder whether it would've saved her."

After a pause, Queen asked another question. "Have you considered taking that evidence to the press? It might get Sharpe to back off. Maybe tell Aisha's story?"

Mark did what he was best at. He shrugged. "I thought about it," he admitted, "but what journalist would believe me? What journalist wouldn't write me off as crazy?"

Vii interjected, suddenly standing. "We should get going. You weren't followed, but Sharpe's looking for us, too. We don't want to tempt fate."

Queen scooted back her seat when Mark spoke. "Wait-- just a second." he said. He paused for just an instant. "I've..."

He struggled with what to say. "I can't forgive you for what you did. I don't think we'll ever be friends. But... I've had some time to think. About what you two must've been going through. About constant fear. About wanting to escape. About wanting to live a day without fear that someone else will make you hurt your own kid."

Dry paused. "Aisha deserved that kind of normalcy. To be able to live. But maybe... if you two had been allowed to have that sort of life in the first place, all three of you would be alive. Happier. I can't forgive you, but maybe... I guess I wish you good luck."

Mark offered his hand. He almost smiled at the ever-so-brief look of shock on Vii's face. He turned to his mother, nodded, and walked off to stand on the street corner.

Queen, still in her seat, thought to herself for a moment. Only she defied Mark's ability to read her emotions. "You said you didn't think that there would be any journalist that would believe you. I don't think that's true. I know someone who might be able to help you out."

She reached into her bag and slid a DVD case across the table towards Mark. "Take care of yourself, Dry." she said. In one fluid motion, she stood and grasped Mark's hand.

"What's your first name?" asked Mark. Queen smiled sadly, and walked away to join her son.

Mark looked in the contents of the DVD case-- there were two things. The first was a DVD- the label read

NONARY GAME: ANTARCTICA DATA DUMP

and had a crude drawing of a skull winking.

The second business card that simply read

Yon Grant
NEW YORK HERALD

Mark looked up to inquire after the items, but the Demaines were already gone. He smiled to himself, and took the first real sip of his coffee. "Sounds like a plan."

Spoiler: Queen END
A year after the incidents in the Antarctic…

The DeMaine estate

England

Regina looked out over her gardens as she sipped tea on the patio. The weather was beautiful and a gentle breeze rolled across the flowerbed and through the trees causing a pleasant swaying. The sound of the birds singing filled the garden. The world for all intents and purposes appeared to be at peace for now.

And yet Regina was at war.

Placing her cup gently down on her saucer, Regina left her table and went for a walk. It had been difficult following the Nonary Game…SOIS were not merciful in their questioning but Regina was too valuable for them to fully prosecute. Ultimately she cut them a deal, she would loan them her expertise in future matters and in exchange they would offer her peace. For Regina…and him.

Turning a corner in the garden Regina entered a small clearing in a grove of trees and came upon an elaborate marble tomb. She hesitated for a moment, closing her eyes in respect before approaching. There wasn’t much left of Jamie following the game…he had not especially cared for his original frail form but Regina had had it cremated and stored appropriately. Mad or not…he was a brilliant man and once upon a time he had been a kind man as well.

She rested a hand gently on the marble pillar in front of the tomb.

One year ago…

One year ago she had inadvertently helped her son destroy what was left of Jamie.

“No that’s not fair…”

Laurent Sharpe had destroyed what Jamie was long before that.

Pressing a hidden panel on the pillar, a secret door leading beneath the tomb opened on the side of the tomb. Regina turned to descend the staircase, a fierce look of determination in her eyes. Entering into her hidden laboratory she moved towards the back of the room where a whiteboard was filled with potential outcomes. Grabbing a small recording device from a table she raised it to her lips.

“It’s the anniversary of the Nonary game. Since then, like Jamie, I have managed to develop my powers into something more. I have been researching the alternate timelines but in each one I find…he is dead. Frozen in the snow…shot by another participant...exposed and executed…each time he ends up dead. However this is not a fair outcome...Jamie was mad, that much is certain…but it was an artificial madness, brought on by a life of torture and suffering.” Her calm voice wavered somewhat. “And yet I feel that this is not right…that given time…he could have overcome such a twisted nature…that the bloodshed could have been avoided…that he could still be here.”

Looking up at the whiteboard, Regina drew a new black line on the timeline of events, uncertain of where it would go yet.

“There has to be a better compromise…”

Spoiler: D END
Somewhere in a dimly lit interrogation room…

“Well we’ve finished our investigation into the events in the Antarctic Prison and as far as we can tell the consciousness of Jamie Alderman did not escape that day…” The devilishly handsome SOIS agent known as “Pigeon” pushed a file across the table to Alison.

Alison looked down at the file and breathed a sigh of relief “That’s good…I don’t care what Queen says…he was a menace for what he did and those people they killed,” her eyes fell somewhat “I suppose you’ll be letting me go…I know I’m far from innocent, I’ll probably go straight into prison once I get back and Dry goes public with those documents.”

Pigeon tapped the table idly as he examined Alison, “Listen Alison, I’ve spent a fair bit of time working with people with plenty of dirt on their hands, got some blood on my own too. I’m not saying everyone deserves redemption.” He closed his eyes briefly as if remembering something as a look of immaculate serenity spread across his face. “But there’s no need for you to throw your life away like this.” He locked his gaze with Alison, his deep eyes paralysing her with their intensity. “I’ll level with you. Your potential with this power is something impressive for sure. I can see why Laurent Sharpe would be eager to have you on his team. We want you on ours. You sign up with SOIS and we’ll overlook your past. Your past will be classified beyond any investigator’s potential to find you and prosecute you. You’ll be safe.” Pigeon leaned back relaxing in his chair “Forget the past, there’s plenty of opportunity for you to make amends in the future.”

Alison finally tore her eyes away from Pigeon’s and opened the file in front of her revealing a contract and terms for joining SOIS. Her breath caught in her throat and she swallowed hard at the prospect of what could be done. With her help, Laurent had discovered something amazing…if the incident in Antarctica had revealed anything it was that his philosophy was right. ANYONE could be an esper…a world of untapped potential within everyone. The process had cost him his sanity though and as the evidence had slipped from Laurent’s hands it was likely he and anyone surrounding the esper testing facility back then would likely be undergoing investigation soon. A small tear began to form in the corner of her eye as she knew what she would have to leave behind.

A while later...

"Hi...mom?" Alison's tearful voice called over the phone. "Yeah...yeah I'm fine. Hey listen to me a sec."

Alison took a deep breath as she wiped some tears from her eyes. "My life's going to get a bit difficult right now...I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch as well as I should have. I know...with Dad's accident I must have seemed like a crappy daughter at the time. I just...I didn't want to be responsible for that...and I kept running from that...I've ran from a lot." She laughed slightly through the tears shaking her head.

"Anyway...once I get a chance I'll come by...I promise...I'm going to start dealing with my problems and focusing on the future from now on." Alison smiled and relaxed...hearing herself say it made it seem real and she knew she was promising herself as much as her mother.

"But enough about me...I'll explain when I come down. How was your day?"

Spoiler: Vii END
The DeMaine Estate

Danny sat on a bench in the gardens sipping his coffee. His phone was ringing for about the hundredth time today, disturbing the natural serenity of the setting.

“God you’d think they’d manage fine without me for a while,” he complained as he switched his phone off. He didn’t need that noise, not right now. Looking across the garden to his mother’s mansion he’d been long pondering what to do about her situation.

After the incident Jamie’s funds had been split between the DeMaine family. With a few well-placed investments in the market Danny had ensured his value would never go down. Life had been great to him, able to live the fast life however he wanted. The SOIS had decided to overlook the murder of Jamie due to the fact they had been planning much the same. He often joked with himself that this must be how a hitman must feel after a big job. However in spite of all his boons, Danny had a big problem.

His eyes wandered across to a small path into a grove of trees. The path that led to Jamie Alderman’s tomb.

She’s getting worse. Danny thought to himself. Each time I come here she’s more wrapped up in this quest to somehow restore Jamie. She just doesn’t listen to me, when I say the World’s better off without him.

Danny crushed the coffee cup in an attempt to vent the anger he felt. With a sigh he leaned back in the bench and let his gaze drift to the blue sky above.

It was ridiculous really, to think that such a monster might be saved amidst such a peaceful place. Danny had always assumed people needed to be wrong in the head in order to try and summon cultish beasts or something like that. He leaned forward and clasped his hands in thought.

Still I owe her…she took care of us after Dad left. She never changed…she was bright and above all she had remained kind. She talks about how Laurent changed Jamie but she can’t see how much Jamie has changed her. Hell it’s thanks to her that I now have the life I do in a way.

Rising from the bench he donned his sunglasses as he set off towards the house.

I can’t abandon her yet.

Spoiler: Ant END
Laurent closed his eyes as he stood outside his penthouse apartment. There was a lot to be done, facts to uncover, calls to make, orders to send. He had thought all evidence of the Esper testing facility had been covered up, yet someone in Antarctica had found some and now it threatened to undo everything. Yes there was much that needed doing.

But something came first.

He had barely opened the door when his wife Shana threw herself at him, tears in her eyes.

“Oh god Laurent…I’m so happy you’re alive.”

The affection staggered him, after spending so much time in an effective dungeon, genuine human affection seemed like a baffling and alien thing to experience. In truth he had been so caught up in the “game,” he had forgotten how much he had missed it as tears came to his eyes as well.

“Shana…I’m sorry I worried you,” he said as he wrapped his own arms around her enjoying her embrace and warmth for a moment before reality set in once more. “But…we don’t have much time…the company has enemies…enemies who targeted me and I need you to be safe for now. You need to go to the safehouse in Maine” he said breaking from her and giving her a sincere look.

“B-but…Laurent…I…” she stammered, clearly unhappy at his command, as Laurent moved past her and into his private study. He paused at the door to give her a last forlorn glance.

“I love you Shana…but I need you to trust me on this…” he said before shutting the door behind him.

Sitting down in his study he cracked open his contact list and began making select calls. Someone had to retrieve those documents from Mark Gormann…everyone’s identities had been revealed during their time with SOIS and that was all he needed in order to set wheels in motion. Orders set, it was time for a bigger project to begin.

He had learned much in the Antarctic but one thing dominated the forefront of his mind. He was right, Espers COULD be created. Jamie might have went mad with power but even he couldn’t deny Laurent was right at the end of the day. Now if only he could refine that process so that it would not generate so much enmity towards SSF within the subjects. Yes…there was much work to be done.
--------------

Weeks later...

SSF Head Office

"Give me an update Clara." Laurent asked his secretary as he flicked through income reports in his office.

"Well...we've received a voicemail from your wife sir, I've forwarded it to your private box," Clara's voice came through the intercom built into the desk. The news brought melancholy smile to his lips. He hadn't expected Shana to like being away so much but he was glad she was agreeing to it. "Thank you Clara I'll call her later, what else do you have today?"

"The final touches on the commendation for Sarah Saunders has been went through. Her debt to the service has been cleared and the bonus you authorised for her has been transferred to her account." Laurent nodded with satisfaction, it was less than she deserved but was all that he could really offer her right now.

"Other than that I'm afraid we've made no progress on the ongoing investigation into Mark Gormann, there's been no sign of the targets in his office or home."

Laurent grimaced and paused in his work to consider this. He'd had enforcers looking at this ever since he'd returned to the company, but Gormann had been eluding them at every turn. It might come time to take more drastic measures to bring him in. He continued flicking through information on his tablet, moving onto the news.

"It won't matter Clara," Laurent said, attempting to ease the disappointment in her voice. "My lawyers have already told me there's little that Mark could do to build a case against me. No Judge would take a small private eye's case against me regarding 'magical powers' seriously." pausing for a moment Laurent idly mused to himself. With the unfortunate death of his client, there was no reason for Mark to pursue the case to this level anyway. Mark wasn't dumb either, he'd know as well as Laurent did that the case would most likely get thrown out of court. Laurent nodded to himself with a smile.

"Oh and we've got two members of the FBI here to see you sir."

What?

Alarmed Laurent sat forward in his chair. Clara's voice seemed small and far away as Laurent focused on the news article on his tablet in front of him.

New York Herald: Twisted SSF experiments exposed! New exclusive sources reveal a dark story.

Laurent's heart fell. So that's what he did...
Putting the tablet down, Laurent composed himself. After surviving Jamie's schemes, he did not plan on being taken down by something so mundane as another investigation. Laurent clasped his hands in front of him on the desk and calmly said.

"Send them in."

Spoiler: Penta END
Sarah Saunders could have easily enjoyed the rest of her life doing nearly nothing. She wasn't the "personal Frankenstein's monster" she used to call herself anymore, and she was even payed bribes for keeping quiet about her past. However, it didn't work. There was something in her brain that obviously didn't get the difference between "deciding not to do anything" and "being unable to do anything". It gave her nightmares, and sometimes she woke up in the middle of the night and had to check that her arms and legs were still in place. Her memories came back and back again, no matter what she did to keep her mind busy. She even worked with children in orphanages who had lost their parents because a so-called psychologist told her it would do miracles. It actually did.

There was this little girl obsessed with chess. Sarah was completely surprised to meet her, however, the girl didn't seem to be surprised at all. She had known that Sarah was going to come in advance - five minutes in advance, to be more precise. Her strategy in chess was always that perfect that it was almost scary.

"Would you mind too tell me how on earth you always know what I want to do next?" said Sarah after another defeat.

"Oh, I don't mind, really. Because if I don't, you probably won't look at me in that funny way. I know how it will look like. The present...is a little longer for me than for other people. It's great fun, just think about it." the girl said meekly.

Sarah stared at the girl before bursting into laughter.

"See? I told you!"

"How much longer?"

"Maybe... Five minutes?"

A few months later, Sarah had finally found her calling. A group dedicated to fighting the corruption in today's society had called to Sarah, looking to invest in her talents. Sarah grinned as the idea sounded perfect to her. Fighting those corrupt, yet nearly invincible politicians who caused most of her nightmares was something that really appealed to her.

"Do you think it's fair what we're doing?" the voice in her head said.

"Why not? A lot of things are fair in love and war. So, do you like the new screen I got for you?" the little girl replied from her comfortable position in Sarah's home.

"Of course! It's huge! I can see everything you're doing!"

"And what do you see?"

"Well, this guy will walk to that desk in the middle of the room and say that there are three reasons why you're conclusions are completely 'invalid'! And then... It will start to rain here, and I won't be able to understand anything else..."

"Then close the window. Now. And place the remote somewhere were you can reach for it to turn up the volume. Better?"

"Yes, Miss Saunders! I turn up the volume and then..."

Sarah grinned while the little girl filled her in on everything that would happen in the next five minutes. She pinned her group's badge onto her jacket and adjusted her suit while preparing to destroy another corrupt fool.

Spoiler: Bishop END
Wind whipped through the graveyard, rustling the long coat of Thomas as he stood vigil over the final resting place of the woman known as Aisha Stone. The Funeral had been brief, little love for an orphan, especially one adopted by Laurent Sharpe. Thomas hated him...he hated a lot lately but he wasn't surprised he hadn't shown.

Thomas had covered the bill for her burial, SOIS had no qualms about handing her body over to him afterwards, even offered him counselling if he had needed it. He'd shirked their offer and left as quickly as possible. It wasn't something he could ever put behind him now but he wasn't quite ready to come to terms with it. His hatred was too great for that.

Reaching out, he gently touched the Angel Statue in Aisha's image he'd had made as a last goodbye before turning and heading back towards his car.

His Dad had been in touch recently, weeping and apologetic. It made him sick. He'd mumbled about how the family was cursed, doomed to always lose the one they love. It was almost touching for a moment, he'd explained his past and for the first time Thomas felt like his father had 'shared' with him. How he'd lost "Rachel" himself and got drawn into those games himself...then he broke down into tears and hung up the phone.

Whatever. Damien's path wasn't Thomas' path. He didn't plan on becoming a superstitious drunken wreck. Climbing into the car Thomas took a deep breath and started driving. He knew what his plan was. There were plenty of lost souls out there...people who were suffering, people who'd been abandoned by society...just like Aisha.

Parking his car outside the children's hospital, Thomas reached into the glove compartment and pulled on his magician's gloves.

He would bring them a light that she had never had.

GAH! I had suspected that Bishop might be the Sigma/Junpei of this game. I dismissed it as me reading too much into things and metagaming from the ZE series too much.

I promise I was saving a line akin to "I didn't ask if you'd played a Nonary Game before. I asked if you'd played this Nonary Game before. Here. With us."

I never got the chance to use it though, after the last PUNISHMENT phase. And I maybe talked myself out of it. It was too out-there. Even for me.

I have a couple of questions regarding the EXECUTION phase riddles, but I'll wait to ask them on the off chance that some of the gamefaqs players find their way here. I was a bit surprised that JF didn't make it out alive-- was it a timing issue? I figure between JF and JM they'd have been able to get enough of them right to save Persephone, and then Bishop could've survived via the adrenaline. Was there some reason that didn't work?

Anyway, I had great fun with this. I was super-worried that my relative lack of experience would hamper the game for myself and others, but I had a great time nevertheless. It seemed to go really well. I'm also always a bit worried that when I play forum games like this, I play them too aggressively. Was I okay? I promise I didn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable.

I'm not sure what JF's problem was, I apologise MechaQ, he didn't answer any of the riddles or even attempt them, or even post after the riddles were put up. I know his survival was one of your "goals" so don't beat yourself up about that.

Well, I guess there's a lot that we should talk about.

First, the Pigeon that we met at the end of the game.... That was the original Pigeon from the third Nonary Game. I knew that because I talked to the GM about that in my quicktopic. I also made the connection that Bishop's father is Leo/Damian Ridley.

Second, Bishop was the one who used the adrenaline shot on himself... But Bishop himself said that he gave the shot to Persephone in the case if he died. I guess that was a flat-out lie. A lie that we all fell for, aka we all believed that lie.

Third, when Bishop talked about that he'll never forgive her.... Who is he talking about? From what I can gather, he could be either..... Talking about Alison Caldwell or Mrs. Demaine or Sarah Saunders. Those three are the only females who are alive. But then again, we'll never know, right?

Fourth, Laurent Sharpe's strange episode. The one where he recalled walking through Room 7/Medical Room and picking up the CPR machine. Even thought that contradicts the actual fact that Alison Caldwell was the one who found it. We'll get to know who is responsible for causing the episode to happen, right?

Fifth, Sarah Saudners, aka Penta, was the one who killed the tenth man to take his place in the game. Laurent Sharpe and Alison Caldwell both knew that.

Persephone had a power...she could swap the status of something with its status in the alternate timeline. This involved changing the course of events required to make that happen. When she used her power, whoever acquired the item gained the memories of how they acquired it.

Laurent gained the memories of how he had acquired the CPR machine. There was no actual way for him to acquire items based on his handcuffed status but with this power the item ended up right in his pocket.

Goddamn, even my counterpart got to make a big dramatic scene before kicking the bucket.
So what did he choose for his coffin puzzle? He mentioned having a bit of fun making it.

I figure he's referring to Queen, but I could be wrong about that. Maybe Penta somehow broke free and killed Persephone or something. Although it seems like Bishop was already unconscious at the time. I don't really know-- I'll wait for JM to offer it up.

As for Ant's vision-- I figure it's gotta be an esper power of some kind. Maybe to switch the item's "fate" with the corresponding item of the gamefaqs "timeline" or something to that effect?

Fifth, Sarah Saudners, aka Penta, was the one who killed the tenth man to take his place in the game. Laurent Sharpe and Alison Caldwell both knew that.

I didn't really have a great reason to think this. I actually missed the part where Penta admitted to having Gaulem arms until JF told me so in the quicktopic :redd: . Embarrassing!

Eh-- no worries. Something IRL probably came up. Super-unfortunate, though. Bishop really came close to winning, I think.

I had initially blamed myself for "Jamie" dying in the coffin, although now I realize that "Neo" was probably the one who explicitly tried to get his old body incinerated. Pierre and sumday were probably having a giggle to themselves at my anguish.

Haha, sumguy that's legit awesome.

Goddamn, even my counterpart got to make a big dramatic scene before kicking the bucket.

Haha oh my god, that was incredible. I had no idea GameFAQs locked their topics when they hit 500 posts so it made a huge dramatic scene at the point where I killed him off and the thread locked. A good halfway point. He was really imaginative with that death though.

Oh yeah what was the deal with "Eighty Servitor Judges"? I'm positive it's an anagram but I was never able to make heads or tails of it.

Oh, you have no idea. :redd:

Though I'm kind of surprised that at least four people were working on solving the cryptogram, and no one thought it could be another language. Popping the code into an online Caesar cipher decoder yielded the answer as the first result. And I almost considered making the answer be "heraimisgettingbetter."

It was an anagram. "The jury's vote is rigged." Just something to confuse the rest of you while I hid the secret ballot. Didn't really use it well, though.

It's gotta be related to the "bomb" file they keep mentioning-- that wasn't in our timeline (unless I'm less observant than I thought).

Oooooooooooooooooooh I see, like a red herring. Best I could do with it was "JUDGE tells their story" but that made me even more lost. What was the role of the knife? Was it an item in the room or just one of the perks of being Zero?

MechaQ, I knew you were talking with Persephone via the phone..... Because, when I searched her body, I found her bracelet, the shovel, and the phone. But the phone's battery have died out, so I don't think I took the phone, I probably left it with the body.

Plus, you already saw the part where I gave you Persephone's bracelet.... What would you have said about that? Before we were gassed and fell asleep, that is.

Also, sumguy. I knew what "Eighty Servitor Judges" means, because Queen told me and Laurent Sharpe that when we were in Room 3.

It's kind of funny, that the knife was never used. Much like the knife in the third Nonary Game.

It was in the coffin. I opened and closed it right after the phase change so no one would notice. I was planning to get rid of Sharpe with it. Emphasis on planning.

Heh, sumguy.... But Laurent Sharpe told me he watched you takes something from the coffin. You never realized that, but you do now. :P

But I'm surprised that you were planning on killing Sharpe with that knife. I guess I made a good move, because that move resulted in your demise. XD

Also, what were you planning to do with me? Kill me or let me go?

Haha if Vii hadn't gotten the revolver and you weren't knocked unconscious, I really feel like you would've won. This is all kind of blowing my mind how close it ended up being.

I dunno-- it's complicated. It's something to remember Aisha by, but it's also the most succinct proof that he failed her. I'm sure Dry appreciated it, though.

Dry was a private detective-- like 90% of their income is earned through jealous/suspicious spouses hiring them to track their SO. If a PI actually finds something illegal, they're required by law to refer their client to the police. Given that, Dry probably saw more dead bodies during the Nonary Game than he had his entire life up to that point. I have to imagine Aisha's death really weighed on Dry.

Plus, something is telling me that the Caulderwoods family, the crime family that Bishop/Thomas Ridley have a problem with, might becomes important in the next Nonary Game. If there will be another Nonary Game, that is.

That really depends on who runs the Nonary Game next. They could decide to reboot the whole shebang and not have this same continuity.

That said, I think it could be really neat to have the next game (or even two games!) dedicated to finding a way to quell the malicious morphogenetic monster that is Jamie.

Yeah your voting sections were....pretty extreme to say the least. Also if I had to place a Sigma/Junpei it would have had to be Mikey who died in the fire.

And yeah the anagram note was a red herring. People might not want to reveal the secret ballot but it would be strange for the safe to contain nothing. This way they had something to show for it.

To be honest, I didn't think that in the alternate timeline, I ended up dying inside a body that wasn't mine. Just like how Michael Adams died in a body that wasn't his.

Still, in this timeline, Neo didn't switch bodies with any of the other espers, so I guess that's a good thing.

Also, you should post the quicktopics for this forum, so we can see all the crazy shenanigans that went down during the game. :P

Yeah, I lived and yes, I was talking about Queen

I do have an idea for another Nonary Game. I already have 6/9 of the characters but my biggest problem is thinking gameplay-wise. I know what the main premise of the gameplay will be, but don't know quite how to implement it

I'd either be starting it soon or not so soon--depends on interest and busy-ness

JM, if you wondering why the link between you and Persephone disappeared... That was my doing. Think of it as a act of revenge, to get back at you and Persephone.

Basically, my esper powers allows me to create a link between two espers. But really, I use my power to test people to see if they're espers. When Laurent Sharpe asked me to establish a link with him, I wasn't really sure about that, because he's not a esper, but he said that it'll work. So, I tried to create a link between me and him.... And it worked!

Another of my esper powers is that I can sever a link that I previously created between two espers. The link between you and Persephone just happened to be the first link that I severed. :P

Good game, that was a lot of fun.

I think it was the shortest nonary game somehow, which is sort of surprising, because I feel like there was a lot going on overall.

I also played most of the game thinking that I couldn't let Jamie die, so that might explain some of the weirder things I said about his esper ability. I expected that I would have to get him to the end while also protecting Laurant and Alison and the others (but I thought they were in less danger). Franzise took the initiative to shoot him which I guess was pretty smart since we ended up winning

Also, sumguy, how long before you died did you know I was going to betray you? At that point in the game, everything was sort of unraveling for me, and I was trying pretty desperately to cover my tracks, so I don't know. I could have been pretty good, but I also could have been pretty bad. You didn't respond very often in the quicktopic, so I figured you were pretty suspicious of me the whole time.

For those who were curious...in the interest of player involvement I had the respective "zeros" comprise a puzzle for the Coffin. It was theirs to protect after all.

Here is the puzzle for the GameFAQ Zero:

I was pretty suspicious of you since I read my role pm. Leaving most of the work to be done by the one person whom Jamie was manipulating seemed a little too convenient to go without betrayal. During round 3, when Vii made no attempt to stop me or Persephone from opening the coffin, even though I told you to convince him that opening it would be a trap, that kinda confirmed it. I wasn't expecting to be knocked out in two rounds, though. You and Fran voted for me, I assume?
Good thinking leaving the gun in room 2. I wouldn't have guessed it.

Oh wow. I just saw KamiPanda's answer to Riddle 4. I feel so dumb. My answer was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more complicated. Oh my goodness that was the easiest riddle and I spent the most time on it.

Oh and another thing-- I can't believe that bomb thing turned out to be real! Major kudos to Kami, Riochi, Nanjo and Franzise for essentially having a four person conspiracy to both hide it and defuse it.

You can probably count me out of that, my involvement with the bomb was essentially

Queen: By the way, there's a bomb
Vii: well shit
Queen: Nevermind, taken care of
Vii: ok cool

I was pretty much always planning on getting Neo killed since it was part of my win condition to make him pay for ruining Queen's life, but I didn't mention it to anyone (meaning Queen since she's the only one I had a communication link with) just in case she was supposed to try to protect him or something (which my PM implied). I didn't know who else I could trust either, since anyone could have been working with Neo, and I was told he could kill me at any time if he suspected anything, so that left me with very few options.

Then Queen pointed me to the gun

I actually hesitated for a bit because I was worried there was a hitch or trap or something waiting for me if I actually took the shot but decided I had to take the risk because there was almost no chance of him getting voted again after being pushed to five lights

Also I don't know who else was voting to punish Neo, I assumed it was Bishop or possibly Penta but I guess not

I guess it's fitting I had the number 7 bracelet because I was very, very lucky this game
