I dislike seeing people refuse to accept a pairing as possible (not canon, but POSSIBLE or WORKABLE) just because it's yaoi/yuri/het what-have-you. So much potential and depth is lost in that.

Well, it depends on what they think of when the term "yuri" comes up. Many--and rightfully-so, given the sorts of pictures you get during image searches--associate it with a sort of degrading hentai genre for women with EE-cup boobs to do the nasty with each other and somehow seem as though they're doing it FOR a male audience who has no regard for their personalities, or, indeed, WHO they are beyond 'female'. You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about, if you've seen it. That's just bad porn, in my opinion, poor writing, and poor characterization. Stupid. No depth, no sensuality.

If you could find examples of yuri in which the women are portrayed in-character, respected, and are in lesbian relationships with depth and dynamic, it may be worth trying to show your friends the potential in a very diverse genre.

To be honest, I don't like parsing relationships into three categories based on the gender of the parties, but it's the common classification system. In short, if you have a pairing you like, you search by either yaoi, yuri, or het in the series you're looking for, and find your pairing of choice that way. But people structure their thoughts around arbitrary structures. 'Yaoi' and 'yuri' become entities with too much inherent stigma attached.

...back on topic, yeah. A pairing is a pairing is a pairing. The dynamic between two people goes far beyond just gender, though most people do only have that sexual edge with one gender or the other. I directly opposed Adrian/Franziska for a long time. I actually had a bit of an argument with CFTF* on GameFAQs on it. but then I read FtF here and I ended up supporting the idea... without realizing the same dude (CantFakeTheFunk) wrote it!

And I was all like "No way, dude, you got me!" I swear man, you knew I would end up with egg on my face sooner or later, didn't you?
